2021 Season 2 Patch 2 Release Notes [2021.03.26.02]
This Patch contains some updates and fixes for the 2021 Season 2 Release.
SIMULATION:
Race Control
- The pace car driver has improved its ability to wait for and to pick up Caution leaders. - - The pace car now is able to detect when the real race leader comes out of the pits and will pick them up as they leave (or moments after they leave) the pits, instead of only paying attention to the cars on track that are still racing back to the line. This adjustment also fixed an issue with pace field placement so that a pit-exiting leader is now always inserted into the pace line behind the pace car regardless of whether the pace car is parked and waiting just inside the end of the pit lane or just past the end of the pit lane.
- Fixed an issue where drivers could be unable to move when starting from the pits, particularly on tracks with a lengthy part of the pit lane ahead of the Start/Finish line.
- Fixed an issue where Race Control was incorrectly releasing missed-start cars behind a faster class pack of cars instead of a slower class pack of cars.
Dynamic Track
- Fixed an issue where many off-track surface temperatures were being calculated as much cooler than they really were. Remember, staying on the track is often the best way to be cool. 8)
Heat Racing
- Fixed an issue where the starting grids would not be properly finalized if the session was configured to advance the entire field from a Qualify to the Feature.
Test Session
- The garage weight penalty adjustment increment has been adjusted from 5kg to 1kg.
Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny
- Race officials are now more strict towards participants driving in the wrong direction, and participants not maintaining optimal pit speeds.
New Damage Model
- Fixed an issue where the force being applied to wheels in collisions was not limited correctly, making the wheel take damage and break far too easily.
- We continue to work on re-balancing the damage states of all vehicles currently utilizing the New Damage Model and those which we turned off recently. We are making progress, and you can expect the New Damage Model to be re-enabled on the following vehicles soon: - - ARCA Menards Chevrolet Impala - - NASCAR Chevrolet Monte Carlo - 1987 - - NASCAR Ford Thunderbird - 1987 - - Street Stock
Visual Effects
- Adjusted night lighting on smoke and dust puffs slightly.
Animation
- Fixed an issue with a rather uncomfortable neck condition suffered by some driver body types while using some open-wheel cars. iRacing has footed the bill for these extraordinary chiropractors. Drivers of the following vehicles were effected: - - Dallara F3 - - Dallara iR-01 - - Dallara IR18 - - [Legacy] Dallara DW12 - - [Legacy] Indycar Dallara - 2009
Telemetry
- A new telemetry Session string value, CarClassEstLapTime:, has been added for broadcasters. - - This string indicates the estimated lap time for every car in the Session. This value matches the existing telemetry Session string value, DriverCarEstLapTime:, used by a player car.
- Fixed an issue with the broadcaster telemetry value, CarIdxP2P_Status, not correctly reporting all 64 entries.
CARS:
BMW M8 GTE
- Fixed an issue where the IMSA number boards night lighting was not appearing correctly.
Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT1
- For the New Damage Model, the following adjustments have been made: - - Rear trunk mount positions have been adjusted, and should now receive damage properly. - - Rear fenders should now receive symmetric damage.
Dallara IR18
- For the New Damage Model, some significant and specialized improvements have been made for processing wheel damage on this vehicle. Lateral wheel break limits and suspension yield limits have also been adjusted.
This Hotfix contains some fixes and updates for the 2021 Season 2 Patch 1 Release.
iRACING UI:
General
- The UI should no longer pop-up over a running Sim session with a login prompt.
Paint Shop
- The UI now better automatically tests if a car paint file has been updated, especially in cases where they were not previously (for example when using the "Export" operation from Adobe Photoshop or other image-editing software).
SIMULATION:
Race Control
- Fixed an issue where if a Caution period begins while the leader is in pit lane and has passed the finish line, but everyone else on track is not yet on the same lap, then all drivers on track would get a wave-by to pass the leader.
Dirt Racing
- The dirt tire parameters for a variety of stockcar vehicles have been dramatically updated for more realistic performance, based on feedback from real-world drivers. - - The following vehicles have these new tires: - - - ARCA Menards Chevrolet Impala - - - NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 - - - NASCAR Cup Series Ford Mustang - - - NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Camry - - - NASCAR Gander Outdoors Chevrolet Silverado - - - NASCAR Gander Outdoors Ford F150 - - - NASCAR Gander Outdoors Toyota Tundra - - - NASCAR Xfinity Chevrolet Camaro - - - NASCAR Xfinity Ford Mustang - - - NASCAR Xfinity Toyota Supra - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Cup Chevrolet Impala COT - 2009 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Cup Chevrolet SS - 2013 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Cup Ford Fusion - 2016 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Nationwide Chevrolet Impala - 2012 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Truck Chevrolet Silverado - 2008 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Xfinity Chevrolet Camaro - 2014 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Xfinity Ford Mustang - 2016 - - - [Legacy] NASCAR Xfinity Toyota Camry - 2015
New Damage Model
- Fixed the apparent root of the prevalent crash-to-desktop issues plaguing vehicles utilizing the New Damage Model. - - This issue appears to have been caused by a corruption of the data when opponent wheels were being moderately to severely damaged, or when they were being reattached to a vehicle.
- We are confident in the above fix. However, as a result of this fix, some sweeping updates have been made to our underlying tire attachment system. Because of this, we are taking the extra precaution of keeping the New Damage Model disabled on the following vehicles until we have had some proper time to re-balance their damage states. You can expect the New Damage Model to be re-enabled on these vehicles soon: - - ARCA Menards Chevrolet Impala - - NASCAR Chevrolet Monte Carlo - 1987 - - NASCAR Ford Thunderbird - 1987 - - Street Stock
Animation
- Some opponent drivers' heads appeared to be missing. They have been found and successfully re-attached by our expert surgeons. There are only minor complaints of neck pain. Drivers using the following cars were effected: - - Dallara F3 - - Dallara iR-01 - - Dallara IR18 - - [Legacy] Dallara DW12 - - [Legacy] Indycar Dallara - 2009
CARS:
Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO
- The dashboard page may now be selected during Fixed Setup events.

3D Model Viewer
- Fixed an issue where if a car already had a custom spec .MIP file actively loaded onto it, it would not update when a new custom spec .MIP file or custom spec .TGA file was copied into the folder. - - For a .TGA file to replace the .MIP, it must have a "last modified" time that is newer than the .MIP, or the .MIP needs to be removed first.

SIMULATION:
Race Servers
- While a Race Server is creating splits and sessions for an event, no new registrations will be allowed for that event. This process occurs when the window for registering for an event as a participant closes. This is particularly helpful for large-scale special events and team events where dozens of splits and sessions are being created at the same time. Stopping new registrations will reduce the load on the scheduler. Further registration and joining of the sessions, for spotting, spectating, etc., will be allowed again after the sessions have been fully created and launched. - - This change has no effect on members who register for an event before the splits and sessions are created.

The issue was appearing as a large black or white rectangle instead of displaying the iRacing UI. - - While Safe Mode is enabled, users will not be able to render content in the 3D Model Viewer. - - - If you wish to manually override this setting, you may change the "uiSafeMode" setting under the "[Graphics DX11]" section in the "app.ini" file. Automatic (0), On (1), or Off (2).
