Villagers and Heroes - Oxiras
This is a small bug fix/improvements patch, which also includes the removal of Grinchta's Lair.

Bevyn's Coille Balance and Fixes
  • Lowered health of Coille monsters by 15%-20%
  • Lowered Trow Poison to 30 seconds and lowered it's damage amount by 33%. However, since the duration was reduced by 50% and the damage reduced by only 33%, the amount of damage done per tick will increase. Trow's still can only poison once ever 60 seconds (so there is now a 30 second safety window).
  • Lowered the stun of Bog Lizards from 6 seconds to 3 seconds.
  • Lowered the stun times of Forest Trolls from 8 seconds to 6 seconds.
  • The daily "Threat to the Coille" now gives 3 Lampkin Totems instead of 1.
  • The leaves of the big trees in Bevyn's Coille can no longer be collided with (players can't get stuck in them anymore).

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed: stocking a village gather station would not appear to have any effect until you closed and opened the window.
  • Quest Tracker count was sometimes off by one
  • Fixed: Golem Lord Orger and Golem Lord Vash had really low hitpoints.
  • Fixed: The pencil/paper sound with every gather is irritating. It also happens every time on the zone loading screen.
  • Fixed issue causing generic objects (such as crafting stations, gather nodes, etc.) to have black nametags instead of white.
  • Fixed bug causing subscription tooltip to not appear right and cause exception spam.

Changes
  • We added a fancy new hand-drawn video for new players when they first enter Ethos Island! This takes the place of the flyby it would show previously.
  • The camera was improved so that it does not jitter, it will rarely penetrate a wall, and it moves more smoothly now.
  • NPCs with quests, COG supplies, and other NPCs with exclamations now have yellow name tag.
  • Fixed some misspellings of Dijarra after complaints (threats, actually) from Dijarra
  • Re-adjusted Rebirth XP Bonus Rates
  • Level 1 to 19: 20% XP Boost (These levels go very fast)
  • Level 20 to 34: 50%
  • Level 35 to 49: 100%
  • Level 50 to 59: 150%
  • Level 60 to 69: 200%
  • Level 70 to 75: 250%
  • Level 76 & up: 300%
  • Christmas Calendar is now turned off.

Misc.
Grinchta's Lair has been removed, and with it all Christmas accessories.

2015 was a wonderful, slightly grueling, and ultimately rewarding year for the game, and we are confident that 2016 will prove to be an even more exhilarating chapter in the ever evolving saga that is V&H. We would not exist without our outstanding player community, and we sincerely thank you for all the support and generosity you have shown us for so long now. We hope you will continue this exciting journey with us into the New Year!

So just what does lie ahead? Instead of providing a general overview of the next twelve months, we thought instead that we’d focus on the particulars of the next three months, and we will continue to release these detailed quarterly updates throughout the year. For an overview of what we have in store for the first part of 2016, have a look at the Ardent Monthly Ledger!

Here are a few highlights:
  • Red Baron classics releasing on Steam! Return to the skies as Mad Otter are releasing the classic Red Baron games the 7th of January on Steam.
  • New high level content! Explore the Copse of the Treants in the second part of The Voyage Through The Blighted Isles.
  • Redesigned combat mechanics! With better audiovisual feedback, combo attacks and more, combat will be more interesting than ever before.
  • Bug fixes! We will dedicate time specifically to fix existing bugs within the game, getting rid of frustrating issues that have been around for a long time.
  • Item shop expansion! Introducing weekly updates to the shop with new content, expanding the shop more than ever before.

…and much more! Click here to read it all.

Christmas is over, and in Ardent the celebrations are also coming to a close – but not without happy memories! A bunch of our players gathered together in Grinchta’s Lair and shared their best experiences through the Christmas season in V&H! Below is just a few quotes out of the forum thread filled with player stories.

There are so many…it seems every year, I’m totally floored by the generosity of our players…Or by what the devs have done to make a new zone…Or by something goofy that will never be forgotten….and, EVERY year, it just gets better.
DaimTest

Christmas always remembers me the Event Zone and all players engaging together against the bosses, even from different guilds. I hope this year have a special experience, by completing the Carols Books achievement (and I need so bad that shield, and it’s the most difficult item to me!).
I’d like to wish to all V&H players around the world a Merry Christmas and an amazing 2016, I hope we can all makes our wishes true (inside and, mainly, outside the game)!
william.saborido

Yes, there are many wonderful memories and adventures I have had both on US Server 1 and US Server 2. I met a new friend the last few months of 2015 and really connected with this person. I finally had someone to often run with and hang out with on a regular basis. This person brought a smile and many laughs into my life. That is a treasure for sure. That was a gift to me! We often had silly adventures laughing as well as leveling. I really hope to have more of those times and I am grateful for the times we do have together. I hold those times dear to my heart. It really makes the game reach a whole other level.

I just can’t choose one favorite memory in Villagers and Heroes. I’ve had 5 Christmas season’s in V&H and they have all be wonderful each in their own way. Each has been memorable, fun, and unique. I still have my first pair of antlers tucked away…. love my antlers! And this year I got the Christmas tree hats, they are so fun! I love the outfits and really love how they’ve expanded, the assortment has grown and that helps to make it more fun for all.
I love it all.

My best Christmas experience associated with this game is the same experience I get most every time I log in;
The experience of playing with one of the best game communities on line today, players and staff alike. It is all of you that make playing this game a welcoming experience for me.
The best example of this is the way that players who have long since finished their event collections keep coming back to the holiday zone to help others complete theirs. In most games I play, people would have been selling their extra quest components, but in this game, they give them freely for the sake of helping out a fellow player. It is this that makes Villagers and Heroes a special community, not just during Christmas when generosity runs high, but every day for the simple reason that this game has a wealth of generous players.
Layla Littlenymph

Like most of us who have been playing since the beginning, every year is a great year! Some leave for a while but always come back. Why is that? A Mystical Land (aka Villagers and Heroes) has a great community and great players. This season has been especially marked by generosity (from players and devs) and kindness! I personally would like to give a big shout out to Arma, Tnarg and Dune for being who they are (Thank you guys!!) and to the rest of the community for endless hours of patience they have demonstrated this season. Happy New Year everyone
WarriorCat

My best Christmas presents in V&H are all the wonderful people that work and play here! You are all special, and I hope you have a wonderful New Year.
NeonTetra

I totally love the event zone..
Loved Loved Loved the “opps” hits at Bounties. I will have to confess.. I did it 2 times.. but those tanks were my savior. Every time it happened I was laughing so hard I was almost crying.. just load of laughter and good spirits from all the players. It is such a wonderful way to meet new friends.

With the personality of Scrooge and the physique of The Hulk, everyone’s favorite snowy green thug, Grinchta, has returned once again to let loose his ill humor and homicidal tendencies upon any who dare to venture into his Lair.

Grinchta and his pack of evil elves, who are all well versed in the art of deadly mischief, will require the united talents of a great many wizards, warriors, hunters, and priests to be defeated.

Time to suit up!

But Grinchta’s Lair isn’t just for the combat-hungry! This dreamy winter wonderland, where falling snowflakes, twinkling lights, and colorfully wrapped packages abound, is also home to many an elaborate, yet vastly rewarding, quest. Toy-making, anyone? Or perhaps some would prefer to collect, trade, or locate all of the pages to the hefty Carol songbooks and reap the many new pieces of exotic Christmas gear as a result? Or, why not do both?

But most of all, Grinchta’s Lair is an enchanting event zone where old friends can come together with new ones, and all can celebrate this festive holiday season together! You can read the full patch notes here.
