We have uploaded our Linux build to Steam and we want to invite our linux players to take part in the public beta! While everyone can now see Linux as a supported platform on our store page, we aren’t doing our full release just yet. Just like before we want to let the players hit the build and help us make sure it is tip-top for public release.
If you want to participate in the beta or simply want to play they native linux client this is how you gain access:
To opt into the Linux Public Beta Branch:
Right Click on Darkest Dungeon in your Steam Library
Select Properties
Select BETAs tab
Enter Password “1iheartlinux1”
Hit Check Code, should see a Success message
Select Linux_Beta from the Drop Down Box
Close the Properties Window
Install the Game if it isn’t installed already.
If it is already installed restart Steam if the game isn't currently redownloading (restarting should trigger an update to the game)
We will keep it in public beta for about a week to make sure the build is solid and any bugs are fixed. After the build looks good we will make it available to all without the extra steps mentioned above.
While we don’t have any specific areas we are concerned about, as far as testing is concerned, it would just be super helpful for you to play the game and report any weird graphical issues you encounter. A concern is making sure assets are being loaded correctly.
For reporting issues, there will be a stickied thread on both the Crash and Non-Crash boards dedicated for Linux issues.
