We have important news regarding the Community-Made Curated Items! We are coming down to the end of the program, and want to make sure to let you all know to please get your submissions in as soon as possible to be considered for inclusion in DLC 2.
We know there's been many questions on selection and notification. After our final review period, any mod that is selected will be contacted by the Gears for Breakfast team in the upcoming weeks.
We are so pleased that we have been able to open this up to our community. Thank you to everyone who has taken part so far, whether you’ve entered your own submissions, or voted on your favorites. We are so excited to see what is to come from these final days!
A few months ago we hosted our very first modding competition, and it was a great success! This competition gave us the opportunity to bring some community made mods into the game officially, and show off some of your amazing work to the players. We at Gears for Breakfast have been looking for more opportunities to add mods to the game officially. Competitions are often a large undertaking, and we can't hold them as often as we would like. That is why we are going to be piloting a Curated Item selection program for inclusion of community made mods in DLC 2!
Coming with the next editor update, you will have the option to publish your mod as a Curated Item. Items posted in the Curated Items Workshop won't be immediately usable in the A Hat in Time. Instead, the developers will be looking to the community to rate up items they would most like to see made available within A Hat in Time, via official DLC inclusion (as was done with Seal the Deal). Ultimately, the developers will choose which items to select and add to A Hat in Time. Additionally, creators of officially accepted mods will be compensated for their work!
We want to reassure everyone that this WILL NOT take away the mods that are in the workshop now, and if you prefer to post your mods in the general workshop you are still able to. Furthermore, if you have a mod that you have already made public and would like it to be considered, you are still able to submit it. However, please keep in mind that for items that have already been made public, there is a reduced chance of inclusion in this program, as we're primarily interested in new content no one has experienced yet.(edited)
Our hopes for this program is to be able to bring more of your creations to the game. This will be a pilot, so we will be testing to make sure it is a good fit for both A Hat in Time and, more importantly, the community. If it isn't, it will be removed or reworked to be a better fit.
We are very excited to bring this to you and we can't wait to share more details very soon! Please leave any questions you have in the comments below so we can be sure to address as many as possible in upcoming announcements!
