THE REASON FOR THE SEASON
As Season 6 nears its final episode, the time has come to release a few spoilers. When you weren’t trekking through channels in the potato-tastic Nomad Van, many of you reached new competitive peaks this Season. That deserves something special.

The Competitive Rewards for Season 6 will be Animated Universal Decals! Check out a preview of the rewards in the video on the on the blog.

Hello everyone! 2022 is flying by, and we’re into the second half of Season 6. We hope your competitive grind and tournament matches are going well, and that you’re getting close to Pro Tier territory in Rocket Pass. It was great to see so many of you in Los Angeles for the sold-out RLCS Winter Major, and we hope our friends in Europe will join us for the Spring Major in July. And for our Rocket League Sideswipe fans, be sure to brush up on the Season 3 Rewards here!

We want to thank everyone who jumped into Knockout, one of the most unique game modes we’ve ever brought to Rocket League. Shout out to those who sent us feedback in the Knockout Bash Megathread over on the subreddit, and to all of the creators for hopping in and showing the community what the new mode is all about. We’re letting all the feedback sink in before we announce any changes or plans with Knockout in the future, but we do want to highlight two major points of feedback we’ve seen rippling across the community:
  • While many of you jumped right into Knockout and picked it up with ease, you also want a more robust tutorial when we’re introducing such a radical new mode type.
  • We’re keeping an eye on “Trinity” feedback in particular, most notably how Grabs factor in versus Attacks and Blocks.
We’ve also read through a ton of conversation related to Season 6 since its start in March. While we aren’t committing to specific changes, we want to acknowledge a few key pieces of feedback many of you have shared with us:
  • We know Neo Tokyo (Comic) missed the mark for many of you, which is why we currently have it out of rotation in Competitive Playlists. We’re keeping this feedback in mind as we work on Arenas for future seasons.
  • We’ve seen a lot of feedback about the content in Season 6. Some of you were a little grossed out by the Tooth Scary Wheels, while Nomster in all its forms seems to be a pretty big hit.
  • We’re really excited to see players embrace Nomad, which uses the Merc hitbox, since “The Potato” is a bit of a departure when compared to many of our recent car bodies.
  • Finally, we saw some mixed results with Season 5 Rewards. Many of you were excited to see new Goal Explosions, while others wished we would depart from Rank icons for some reward items while keeping the associated colors around.
Since a lot of this blog touches on player feedback, we want to highlight two threads posted during Season 6 that we’re using to drive changes in Season 7:
  • A thread from earlier in the season highlighted how actions in Rocket League related to using Drops, Blueprints, and Credits could have different default selections. This is something we’re looking to change for Season 7.
  • A freestyler sparked a ton of chatter on Twitter and Reddit about ball speed on different Arena walls. We definitely want uniformity in how fast the ball moves in corners, and we’re hoping to have this fixed in time for Season 7. While we use automated testing throughout Rocket League, this was a blind spot for us that we’re going to address moving forward.
There’s been a healthy amount of conversation around game servers recently as well. While server performance is something we’re always tracking, the best way to help us improve server quality over time is to use the Report Server button in the game client. The more hits we receive through the report function, the more information we have to act on.

As we mentioned in the last Community Update, we are closely watching the new expanded player report reasons. At this time, multiple ban systems are in the works with the intention of handling reports for 'Match Throwing or Griefing' and 'Intentionally Idle'. In order for these systems to help create the best in-game experience, it is vital that players continue to report bad behavior. The more reports we receive, the better we can understand the kind of behavior that prevents Rocket League from being a safe, positive place to play.

Finally, let’s talk about voice chat. We want to thank everyone for your patience, and we’re incredibly happy to have voice chat back in the game, meeting our original goal of turning it on during Season 6. Integrating the new voice chat system into Rocket League, which ties in with our party system, Epic Online Services, as well as parental controls for younger player accounts, was no small effort, and we’re excited to hear your feedback over the coming weeks. Make sure you check out the v2.15 patch notes if you have any questions regarding voice chat functionality.

As always, keep the feedback coming on Reddit and in our Discord server, and good luck with the rest of the season!

BRINGING PLAYERS THE GIFT OF GAB

No matter how good your mechanical skill level, solid teamwork is essential. The ability to talk with your teammates offers the chance to coordinate powerful offensive attacks and celebrate insane plays with your team. Communication remains key all the way up to the pro level, with Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) teams developing their own extensive comms strategies.

Now with a new system behind the scenes, Rocket League players will once again be able to join Team and Party voice chat channels with ease. It’s the glorious return of Voice Chat!

HOW IT WORKS
Voice Chat is enabled by default, so players will only need to plug in a headset to be ready to chat! Players will see all available Voice Channels from the new Voice Chat tab in the Friends List. From here players can Join, Switch or Leave channels from the Main Menu or in-match from the Pause menu. Not everyone plays Rocket League the same way, so we’re offering options to fine-tune your Voice Chat experience. Players will be able to customize their options in the Settings Menu.

Party Chat - The perfect way to talk with friends! Players with Voice Chat enabled will enter the Party Voice Channel when they create or join a Party. Players will be able to communicate both in and out of matches as the connection persists between games.

Team Chat - For those who want to talk with their team! Players with Voice Chat enabled will enter the Team Voice Channel when they join a team in a match. This connection will end automatically as the game finishes, then begin anew when you join a new match.

Voice Input/Output - These device options are available on PC and let players change audio sources easily whether you’re rocking the streamer mic or the controller headset.

Voice Chat Method - Open Mic is the default Voice Chat setting so that players do not need to press unnecessary buttons when trying to communicate when hitting those double flip resets. Players who prefer to use Push-to-Talk can enable that in the Settings menu. These players will need to bind the PTT button to something that suits them from the Controls tab.

Mute - We also know everyone uses Voice Chat in different ways, so Players will also be able to Mute individuals in their Voice Channel. This can be done by selecting their names in the Voice Chat tab and choosing Mute.

VOICE CHAT STATES
When active in a Voice Channel, Players will appear on the Voice Chat tab in one of the following states:

Speaking - This state is displayed by a green speaker icon when a player is actively speaking.

Muted Mic - This state is displayed by a speaker with an X beside it when you have muted a player, or the player does not have a valid speaking device.

Expect the Voice Chat update to go live on May 9 at 4 pm PDT (11 pm UTC) (pending first party certification). Good luck, have fun, and be nice!

DRIVERS, BOOST YOUR ENGINES!
In all of Soccar history, the triumphant path has always been paved with cooperation and teamwork. Now, let all alliances be cast aside with the introduction of the free-for-all LTM, Knockout. This game mode will be part of a new in-game event called Knockout Bash, which runs from April 27 to May 10.

In this destructive derby, only the strong survive as 8 players crash their way through several new Arenas. Many of your Soccar skills will carry over, but you’ll need to master the new Attack, Block, and Grab mechanics to come out victorious!

Even the mightiest rocketeers need the occasional pit stop, so take a moment to unlock soothing Spring-themed rewards and free Golden Gift Baskets by completing in-game Challenges. Twitch viewers will also be able to receive the Bob’s Ramen Player Banner Twitch Drop throughout Knockout Bash by watching their favorite Rocket League streamers on their quest for domination.

KNOCKOUT: THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
So how does this new LTM work? Let’s dive right in. Knock opponents out of the Safezone or into Hazards, and the last player standing wins!

GAME RULES
Team Size - In Knockout there are no teams. Instead, 8 players compete in free-for-all action.

Lives - Unlike Soccar, Knockout doesn’t have unlimited respawns. Players will have to watch their back because once you’ve been KO’d 3 times it’s game over.

Safezone - Surrounding the arena is a translucent dome called the Safezone. When a player is knocked out of the Safezone, they must return within 10 seconds or they will be KO’d. Throughout the game the Safezone will shrink, increasing the danger. After 6 minutes the match will enter Sudden KO, where every Attack or Throw is maximum power, and being knocked out of the Safezone causes an instant KO.

Hazards - Each Knockout Arena contains several Hazards, including Spikes and a Laser Grid that lies below the platforms. Touching a Hazard will result in an instant KO.

CORE GAMEPLAY
Attack - Dodging into opponents will do a lot more than just bump them, in Knockout a well-placed Attack will send your opponents flying. Remember, the faster you’re going the harder you’ll hit.

Block - Blocking will reflect Attacks back at your opponent. Be careful though, this will only work with proper timing otherwise your block will fail, leaving you wide open to an Attack.

Grab - Hold the Grab button and dodge into an opponent to Grab them. Dodge again to throw them across the Arena.

SECONDARY MECHANICS
Stun - Players will be Stunned after being hit by an Attack, while being Grabbed, after being Thrown by a Grab, or after having an Attack Blocked. In this state, players are helpless and cannot control their cars. While Stunned, you can free yourself by mashing the Break Stun button.

Enemy Lock-On - Instead of locking on to a ball, the camera is now able to lock on to opposing players. While locked on, the player can cycle through targets.

Triple Jump - Double jump is SO retro. In Knockout, players can jump in the air twice before resetting their jumps by placing their wheels on the ground.

Multi Dodge - Dodging power has been increased, and now Players can dodge up to four times in the air. No need to flip reset either, as there is no time limit to how long your dodge can be saved mid-air.

Jump - In Knockout, jumping has much more vertical force than other Rocket League modes.

Boost - Boost is a bit stronger in Knockout, which allows players to get back to the platform when they have been slammed into the distance by other players. Boost will recharge whenever you’re not boosting while your wheels are touching the ground.

ENTER THE ARENA
Knockout has migrated off the Soccar pitch and onto 3 new Arenas built just for battling: Calavera, Carbon, and Quadron. The constant crashing of cars eventually wore away the walls and floors of all 3, so be careful! Players can easily be thrown out of the Arena, and once you fall too far there's no coming back.

KNOCKOUT BASH CHALLENGES
Battling it out in the Arena is no easy task, but a new batch of challenge rewards should help keep morale high. Unlock Spring-themed Items like the Florescence Wheels, Monarch Boost, or the animated Flutterby Decal as you smash your way to the top.

STOP AND SMELL THE GOLDEN GIFT BASKETS
Even the most dedicated fighters need to rest and recuperate, so why don’t you relax with a Golden Gift Basket? Throughout Knockout Bash, players can earn Golden Gift Baskets that unlock a mix of classic Items from the Victory, Accelerator, and Turbo Item Series. Golden Gift Baskets work just like previous Golden rewards. Complete the Challenge up to five times to earn Golden Gift Baskets, then open them in your Inventory to unlock items!

Want to know more about how this new Mode was created? Be on the lookout for a new video series called Under the Hood that will give a behind-the-scenes look into the development process.

Knockout Bash will be live from April 27 to May 10. Knock ‘em out, kid!

DRIVERS, BOOST YOUR ENGINES!
Hear that roaring crowd? It can only mean one thing—NASCAR is back to take the checkered flag with the NASCAR Next Gen Ford Mustang, NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro, and NASCAR Next Gen Toyota Camry racers! Featuring a Dominus Hitbox, all three 2022 stock cars come fully equipped with NASCAR livery so you can represent your favorite team both on the track and in the Arena.

Available in-game starting April 20, the 2022 NASCAR Fan Pass will cost 1100 Credits and will unlock 2 more high-octane content updates later this year.

THE NEXT GEN

NASCAR has always kept one foot on the gas and the other in the past. The sport of stock car racing grew out of humble yet passionate beginnings, and that same heritage fuels the development of today’s NASCAR Next Gen cars. In addition to a new chassis and updated aero, these chariots of the future have a couple of crucial changes.

The IRL Next Gen cars were designed to give the audience and drivers what they wanted—more power and less downforce. 670 whole horses of power to be precise. Many NASCAR fans say this new combination lets the driver’s natural talent shine through, which is one of the things that makes NASCAR so unique.

While Rocket League cars all perform equally, the 3 new NASCAR Next Gen vehicles are sure to stand out with their race-ready looks. Let’s take a peek into this year's NASCAR Fan Pass.

2022 NASCAR FAN PASS (1100 CREDITS)
  • NASCAR Next Gen Ford Mustang
  • NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro
  • NASCAR Next Gen Toyota Camry
  • NASCAR Next Gen Engine Audio for all 3 Next Gen Cars
  • Next Gen Goodyear Racing Wheels
  • 9 NASCAR Team Decals + Matching Player Banners
    • Toyota Camry
      • Joe Gibbs Racing #19
    • Chevrolet Camaro
      • Hendrick Motorsports #5
      • Spire Motorsports #7
      • Trackhouse Racing #1
      • Richard Childress Racing #8
    • Ford Mustang
      • Team Penske #12
      • Front Row Motorsports #34
      • RFK Racing #17
      • Stewart-Haas Racing #4
*Note: The items included in the 2022 NASCAR Fan Pass can only be equipped by the NASCAR Next Gen Ford Mustang, NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro, and NASCAR Next Gen Toyota Camry. These cars cannot be customized with all item types.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

The 2022 NASCAR Fan Pass has too much horsepower to handle all at once, so 2 more content drops will be released later this year. If you purchase the 2022 NASCAR Fan Pass now, these future updates will be unlocked for free upon release!

With an update this Summer, you’ll get a chance to display clean NASCAR Next Gen promotional Decals that focus more on the car design. Instead of normal livery, each car will get a new custom design showcasing either the Ford Mustang, Toyota Camry, or Chevrolet Camaro brand.

Feel attached to the favorite Rocket League classics? No need to worry, the second update this Fall helps you rep your favorite motorsport with NASCAR-inspired Decals for Octane, Fennec, and Dominus.

ROCKET LEAGUE IS HEADING TO TALLADEGA!
The power of offline and online combine at the GEICO 500 Race at Talladega on April 24. At this NASCAR Cup Series race, fans will be able to play Rocket League at the Allied Esports gaming truck put on in partnership with NASCAR.
