The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 6 World Champions have been crowned and there’s no doubt that players have been hit with a new wave of post-"LANVegas" inspiration. With everything on the line, Rocket League Esports has been a consistent source of on-field excitement, so let’s take a look at what makes a play memorable (and how we can make our own unforgettable moments).
Custom Training
With practice comes perfection... or at least the hope that you’ll get there, someday. Instead of worrying about making every play perfect, though, you should first focus on taking advantage of the situation. Do you have space and enough boost to take the ball off of the wall for a ceiling shot? Drill yourself with the “= CEILING SHOT =” pack and you’ll be sure to catch your opponents off-guard. Pinging the ball off of the wall like in “Backboard Clears” helps you send a long clear that can not only gives your team time to rotate, but also sets up passes from across the arena. If you’re up for a challenge to test your abilities on the spot, then the “Grand Champion Redirects” pack offers a perfect selection of fast and difficult passes to knock into the back of the net. It takes a lot of practice to recreate some of the most memorable moments and some of us may not be able to, at first, but you never know when you might recreate a play from some of the most epic moments in Rocket League Esports history.

In most cases, it’s the outrageously high-skill maneuvers that will never be forgotten; much like Mariano ‘Squishymuffinz’ Arruda’s ceiling reset shot during the RLCS Season 4 World Championship Lower Bracket Finals. Looking back a bit further, Kyle Mascitelli created one of the first defining moments of Rocket League Esports when he sank a zero-second buzzer-beater to defeat Cosmic Aftershock in the 2015 MLG Tournament Grand Finals.
Typically, we more easily remember the insanity and creativity of a shot; much like one of the first aerial dribbles ever performed in a competitive match, when Cameron “Kronovi” Bills scored this shot against Kings of Urban (or even some of Linus “al0t” Möllergren’s insane redirects). But it’s not always about the goal itself, as a demolition like Garrett “GarrettG” Gordon’s, can pave the way to a game-winning play.
So what leaves an imprint that we’ll never forget? Creative new shots that we’ve never before seen at such a high level, clutch goals to win it all, and a perfect demolition to clear the way! Do you think we’re missing something? Check out FluuMP’s list with some of the most iconic goals for some more high-octane clips.
What’s your most memorable play? Share it with us on Twitter or the subreddit and maybe you’ll be featured in the next Community Spotlight!
Xbox One X players, rejoice! Our final planned update for 2018 arrives this December and it’s bringing Enhanced Xbox One X support with it!
The aptly-named, December Update, will roll out on all platforms on December 3 at 10:00 AM PST/ 6:00 PM UTC (pending first-party certification). Once installed, you’ll be able to play Rocket League on Xbox One X in native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, complete with HDR (high dynamic range). Please note: 4K support requires a 4K-capable television and a compatible HDMI cable.
Playing on Xbox One X, but with a 1080p TV or display? You can still take advantage of supersampling on the Xbox One X with this update! To learn more about 4K support, HDR, and supersampling on the Xbox One X, click here.
If you’re playing Rocket League on one of our other supported platforms, the December Update has plenty in store for you, including:
A brand new ‘Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 5’ EP
New Community Flags for Extra Life, Speedy, and another still TBA
...And more!
Once the December Update is out in the wild, we’ll follow up with more information about Rocket Pass 2 and Frosty Fest 2018, both of which kick off before year’s end. Thanks, everyone!

Soon, the best of the best will hit the stage in Las Vegas for the RLCS Season 6 World Championship! But before #LANVegas begins, let's first take a look at the "Pro" player style and creativity that got those star players to the big show in the first place; while also inspiring us to improve ourselves. After that, we’ll show you where to go to find even more tips that will raise your game
Custom Training
Whether you’re Mr. Dependable when it comes to rotations, or more of the freestyling type, your form and approach will almost always dictate how you play on the pitch. Those of you who love Dominus, and want to show off your aerial and freestyling prowess, can jump right into the “Redirects” pack; while Octane and Twinzer enthusiasts can master the fundamentals in “Toki’s Basic Shots” for a sequence that every Rocketeer is likely to experience. For those of you after the ‘Ball Chaser’ title, you can always take it down a notch with “Warmup for Silvers” or try the rest of the ‘Featured` list of Custom Training packs if you're so inclined.
What’s most important, though, is that you challenge yourself to become better with each game. With the right mindset, the sky’s the limit -- until you need a ceiling reset.

How to Improve Your Playstyle
As the Rocket League skill ceiling continues to rise, players have found more ways to creatively score goals with tricks like the tornado flick, ceiling shot, and flip reset, all of which should help you define and play to your strengths. Sometimes, it’s good to look back at your replays and dive into what works for you and what doesn’t, because we know that ceiling shots are impressive, sure, but they might not always be the best play.
If you need help with analyzing your replays, the community has your back. Check out Gibbs’ long-lasting Analysis series, where he helps players of all Ranks do a play-by-play analysis; if you need more opinions, check out the RocketLeagueCoaching subreddit or SunlessKhan’s new Allegiance University series for advice and insight on how to improve at various different levels of skill. There are so many ways to play Rocket League, it doesn’t hurt to try and change things up now and then on your quest for superiority.
What makes YOU unique? Share your style with us on Twitter or the subreddit for a chance at being showcased in the next Community Spotlight!

Hello everyone! We’re really excited to see that many of you have embraced "Competitive" Extra Modes since we released the Season 9 Update last month. Each Extra Mode Competitive Playlist has twice as many active players (on average) than their Casual equivalents did. We’re just as happy to see that everyone is enjoying Rocket Pass, too, along with the new Clubs feature. It looks like many of you are really going after all the rewards and Pro Tiers that Rocket Pass has to offer (and remember: our first Rocket Pass will come to an end on November 26)!
Rocket League’s full release in China is also fast approaching (but no official date announcement just yet); it feels great to deliver Soccar, and all that comes with it, to yet another region of the world. Our partners at Tencent are big fans of the game and have been incredibly supportive of our vision and goals.
RocketID News
Before diving into what’s next, we have an update on RocketID, a feature that many of you are really excited for. While our goal was to release RocketID before the end of 2018, we’ve made the difficult decision to push its release into early 2019. The good news is that with Sony's recent announcements regarding full cross-platform functionality, we can now make additional changes to prepare RocketID for ALL platforms should we receive permission to do so! We’re working incredibly hard to ensure that it’s as intuitive, stable, and polished as possible, before releasing it to the world. We know the wait has been frustrating for many of you who are eager for this feature, and we thank you for your patience as we continue to work on cross-platform support.
Xbox One X, Rocket Pass 2 and Frosty Fest 2018
We have one planned update left for 2018, which we’re hoping to release in early December. For our Xbox One X players, your time has come! Enhanced Xbox One X support will be part of this update, complete with 4K at 60 frames-per-second and HDR support! We’ll have more to share on these improvements in the near future.
December will also see the beginning of the next Rocket Pass with a new suite of items, along with another licensed premium DLC that will release around the same time. We will continue to watch, measure and update how Rocket Pass works and what rewards to offer moving forward, so please remember to tell us your thoughts on Reddit where you can continue to give us suggestions on what to improve!
Finally, we have one more in-game Event to look forward to this year! Starting in mid-December, Frosty Fest 2018 will operate just like our currently-happening Haunted Hallows Event; you’ll earn Snowflakes for playing matches online and redeem it for holiday-themed items, including a "Golden Gift!" Stay tuned later this fall for Frosty Fest start and end dates.
Thanks for your support and please continue reaching out to us on Twitter and our Subreddit. We plan on sharing our Winter 2019 Roadmap Update after the holidays, with a focus on quality of life updates and fixes and, of course, RocketID. In the meantime, we hope to see you next month at the RLCS Season 6 World Championship in Las Vegas.
Ten years ago today, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars was released on PlayStation 3! Little did we know then, that our passion-project Soccar game would lead to something much, much bigger in the years that followed! “Project Battle-Cars 2” turned into Rocket League and, more than three years after its release, it's still as fun and competitive as ever. Meanwhile, some of our most passionate SARPBC players have since transformed into heralded pros in the Rocket League Championship Series.
More than 50 million players and four platforms later, we can’t thank our community enough for helping make Rocket League what it is today; none of which would be possible without SARPBC’s debut in 2008. To celebrate, we'll be holding our first-ever Double XP Weekend!
Starting Thursday, October 11 at 4:00 PM PDT (11:00 pm UTC), base XP that's earned in Online Matches will double via a "+100% Special Event” multiplier we’ve been saving for a special occasion. All additional bonuses and multipliers will be operating normally. Check out the start-and-finish times listed below, along with a look back at our original SARPBC trailer.
We hope you enjoy the additional XP as you progress through Rocket Pass, and for all the SARPBC players out there, share some of your favorite moments, stories, and pics with us on Twitter, Instagram and Reddit and we'll share some of our favorites!
P.S.: Do you have a PS3 ready to go? You can still purchase and play SARPBC on the PlayStation Store! Find out where Soccar began, complete with online play and the original versions of some of your favorite Rocket League Battle-Cars!
Double XP Start: Thursday, October 11 at 4:00 PM PDT (11:00 PM UTC)
Double XP End: Monday, October 15 at 10:00 AM PDT (5:00 PM UTC)
Starting October 15, earn ‘Candy Corn’ for playing and completing Online Matches, which can be redeemed for brand new ‘Limited’ Decals, Toppers, Wheels and more! There’s also the ‘Golden Pumpkin,’ which contains one Customization Item from the Nitro, Turbo or Player’s Choice Crates! Remember, once you redeem your Candy Corn for a Golden Pumpkin, no Key or Decryptor is required to open it.
When Haunted Hallows ends on November 5, you’ll have an additional three days to redeem any Candy Corn you have left in your pumpkin bucket -- or do you keep your candy in a pillowcase?
Check out the trailer up top, along with timing details and screenshots below. Enjoy the Event and stay scary!
Haunted Hallows Start Time: Monday, October 15, 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT, 5:00 PM UTC)
Haunted Hallows End Time: Monday, November 5, 2:00 PM PST (5:00 pm EST, 10:00 PM UTC)
Candy Corn Expiration: Thursday, November 8, 2:00 PM PST (5:00 pm EST, 10:00 PM UTC)
Heads up! Our next Crate will start dropping in Rocket League next week!
Starting October 8 at 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT/ 7:00 PM CEST), the ‘Elevation’ Crate will start appearing as a drop after the completion of Online Matches. The new Crate will feature 18 Customization Items, including the new ‘Nimbus’ Battle-Car, ‘Solar Flare’ Goal Explosion, and more. You can check out Nimbus in the image below!
Customization Items in the Elevation Crate are subject to the same drop rates as our previous Crate releases, which can you find here.
The highest level of competitive Rocket League is back with RLCS Season 6, which means that every week we get to watch RLCS and RLRS players perform miracles on the pitch that leave us asking: how do they get so good? In this Community Spotlight, we dive back into these players’ routines and learn how to reproduce their insane plays.
Custom Training
Whether you’re going for the MVP title at the end of a match or a spot on an RLCS team, there’s always something to strive for in Rocket League. The truth is, though, that nobody knows how to perform at the highest level of competition better than the pros. So if you want to scream “This is Rocket League!” after every goal you score while the clock hangs at 0:00, then keep grinding Justin ‘JSTN’ Morales’ ‘Redirect Pack #2’ until you become the next king of clutch. How about defense? Practice like a player who has the highest win percentage in RLCS by jumping into Cameron ‘Kronovi’ Bill’s ‘Strong Backboard Clears/Saves’ pack. It’s always a good idea to exercise your mechanics with Custom Training, too, so take it up to the next level with the ‘Grand Champion Redirect Pack’ by Mark ‘Tigreee’ Hoffmann, who scores a goal in nearly every RLCS match.

Video Demonstrations
It’s not always clear how the creator intends each shot to be taken, especially when you’re expected to hit a crazy angle and perfectly send the ball into the back of the net. Thankfully, pros like Jamie ‘Karma’ Bickford have created videos that allow you to pay close attention to positioning and timing so packs like ‘New Sequence’ will become less difficult to tackle. For Kyle ‘Torment’ Storer’s ‘Passing Practice,’ it should come as no surprise that the pack is dedicated to sharpening your midfield passing skills. While it also works perfectly well as a shot practice pack, we recommend that you study Torment’s video tutorial on how to fully utilize each chance to pass to your teammates.
It doesn’t take a pro player to know how to create an effective training routine, so don’t be afraid to share your latest training packs on Discord, Reddit and Twitter for a chance to be in next month’s spotlight!
