Summertime hasn’t arrived just yet, but that’s not keeping us away from the beach -- and we’re taking YOU with us!
Beach Blast is Rocket League’s next in-game Event and it kicks off just before the summer arrives. Starting June 11 at 10am PDT (see full timing details below) you’ll be able to purchase ‘Beach Blast’ Crates with ‘Shells’ you earn for playing Online matches. You’ll also be able to purchase Beach Blast Crates directly through the Rocket League client (similar to buying Keys or Premium DLC Battle-Cars).
Like our previous Events, we’ll have 12 additional items for purchase with Shells as well, along with Decryptors! Check out screenshots of some of the items below!
With only days to go before the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) takes over London for the Season 5 World Championship, we're back with some news regarding Fan Rewards!
Double painted Fan Reward drops are BACK for the World Championship weekend! Not only are double painted drops active, but Apex wheels are making their return for the first time since we introduced Fan Rewards Phase 2! It’s the perfect time to tune back in if you missed your chance at Apex wheels in Season 4.
Be sure to sign up on the Fan Rewards website and get ready to see the 10 best teams in Rocket League compete for their share of $250,000!
Broadcast Schedule
RLCS Season 5 World Championship - Day 1
Friday June 8 - Broadcast begins at 2:00pm BST (6:00am PDT)
We’ve teamed up with our friends at Universal once again to bring one of the greatest movie franchises of all time to Rocket League! The Jurassic World Car Pack DLC will be available on June 18 for $1.99 (or regional equivalent) on all platforms and features new items that will remind everyone in the arena of when dinosaurs ruled the Earth.
The Jeep Wrangler, featuring both Jurassic World AND Jurassic Park Decals, depending on which team you’re on in a match, is sure to please both old and new Jurassic Park fans alike. The Jeep Wrangler also comes with its own unique Wheels and Engine Audio, making your gas-powered Jeep a spitting image of the cars in the films. Want to get into the Tyrannosaurus spirit with other Battle-Cars? Life finds a way and so too does the ‘T. rex’ Goal Explosion that's sure to give Dr. Ian Malcolm some uncomfortable flashbacks. A new themed Topper, three Player Banners, and three Antennas are in there too.
Check out the official trailer up top and the screenshots below, then let us know what you think about the new DLC on Facebook, Reddit and Twitter.

Competitive Season 8
Competitive Season 8 has begun
Season 8 brings a “soft reset” that requires you to do placement matches in each playlist to recalibrate
Winning half of your placement matches will land you near your previous season ranking
The soft reset will no longer compress Champion Tier players skill downwards. Instead, only Grand Champions will be compressed down to the top end of the Champion 3 skill range.
League Rankings will be temporarily empty until players complete their placement matches
BUG FIXES
General
A player’s Rank now correctly displays on the post-match screen
Fixed an issue causing Orange team-specific Presets to incorrectly preload during matchmaking, causing them to appear late once the map loaded
[Xbox One] Fixed a crash/performance issue
Fixed Boost activation occurring one frame behind input when client runs above 60 FPS
Boost Audio and visual FX will no longer continue to play after boost is deactivated
Fixed an issue with physics state quantization that led to cars occasionally “settling” at inconsistent suspension heights (thank you to Rocket Science for reporting this)
Improved loading performance that was causing some players (particularly on PS4) to experience stutter in the first 5-10 seconds of matches
Fixed players who have initiated a Forfeit Vote being unable to see the Vote to Forfeit option afterwards
The “Keyboard Input Acceleration Time” option is once again available in the Options - Controls menu.
Fixed the “Favorite” button sometimes disappearing in the Garage Car Body tab
Fixed issues with car preview sometimes breaking when quickly switching garage tabs
[Switch] Improved scrolling performance when viewing items in the Garage
Tread glow on ‘Season 3 - Star’ Wheels has been restored
FX on Draco Wheels have been restored
KNOWN ISSUES
[NOTE: If you go down a division after a win in a Ranked match, this is not a bug. The division down is attached to a previous loss that was reported to our database late. You are still receiving appropriate credit for the win.]
General
Painted ‘Twinzer’ lacks paintable attributes on the front of the body
This will be changed in our next update
Paint finish on the Batmobile may look different than before
You may be able to see edges of the ‘lighthouse’ that illuminates the map on Salty Shores
[PS4 Pro] Users may experience performance issues when playing 3v3 Rumble on Neo Tokyo with Supersampling enabled
[Switch] Splitscreen users may take longer than normal to appear in the main menu
[PS4] Join delays at the start of a match have been greatly reduced but may still be present
[macOS. SteamOS] Textures on some buildings in the background may be missing
On Salty Shores, some ground textures load a few seconds after reaching the Choose Team screen
In some cases, users may not be able to invite Party members to trade immediately after leaving a match
Images of Painted ‘K2’ and ‘Zeta’ Wheel variants may not display correctly
Player POV camera issues when spectating or viewing Replays
Voltaic Wheels may appear pixelated for some players
Moving quickly between the Showroom and Garage may cause Boosts and Trails to not display properly when viewing in Redeem Rewards and Crate Preview menus.
Some Gray Wheels (Voltaic) may appear similar to Titanium White variants
Black texture can be seen sometimes outside of the Neo Tokyo and Tokyo Underpass Arenas
The Rocket League Championship Series Season 5 LAN will be here before you know it, and while the pros will be battling it out in London for the chance to be your next world champions, most of us will be grinding away in the comfort of our own homes. In this month’s Community Spotlight, we’re focusing on bringing you training packs and videos from our community to help you optimize your practice regimen and foster the next wave of Rocket League stars!
Custom Training

Steam Workshop Recap
For over a year, we have been introducing a feed of Custom Training codes and various Steam Workshop maps. However, because it has been a while since our last showcased workshop creation, we wanted to give you a bit of a refresher on the awesome community-made maps that have been introduced in previous Community Spotlights. Look below for the list of Steam Workshop maps:
Which sunblock SPF does a Battle-Car need when it's soaking up rays and playing in the sand all day? We’ll know soon, because our new Salty Shores Update splashes down on May 29!
This next Content Update is all about Rocket League fun in the sun, starting with the aforementioned ‘Salty Shores,’ our brand new seaside Arena! As our sunniest map to date, Salty Shores should keep the summertime vibes going year-round as a permanent addition to all online Playlists!
Along with a new Arena, we’re also bringing you the start of Competitive Season 8, the distribution of Season 7 Rewards, the new ‘Impact’ Crate, fresh beats from the ‘Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 3’ EP and more! You’ll also find some nice quality of life improvements in the mix, including a new ‘Report Server’ button for when servers misbehave during an online match. Our ‘Beach Blast’ in-game Event is coming soon too, but not for a few more weeks -- June 11, to be exact! We’ll have more details about Beach Blast closer to the start of the event, so stay tuned!
Check out the full trailer up top and screenshots of our new arena (and our new Battle-Car 'Twinzer') below. Be sure to let us know what you think of the new update on Reddit and Twitter. We’ll see you on the beach next week!
Whether you’re planning to take a trip down the "Road to Grand Champ" or you're planning to grind out Season Reward Levels this month, it’s time to get motivated -- the end of Competitive Season 7 is just around the corner!
The May Content Update we chatted about in our Summer Roadmap last week marks the end of Season 7, which means that it’s now time to talk about what Season Rewards you can expect!
We’re taking a new approach to Rewards this season, beginning with a fresh set of Player Banners. While each Skill Tier still has its own unique Player Banner, the color and design of those Banners have been detached from the Tier they’re rewarded to (i.e. blue hues for Diamond and Platinum ranks, gold for, erm, Gold, etc.). This new approach gives our team the creative freedom they need to bring you fresh, awesome content season after season, while also helping to inspire new presets or even compliment existing presets in your Rocket League Garage
Take a look at the Season 7 Player Banners posted up top and see the list below for the distribution breakdown:
Bronze I or higher – ‘Season 7 - Tier 1’ Player Banner
Silver I or higher – ‘Season 7 - Tier 2’ Player Banner + lower Player Banner
Gold I or higher – ‘Season 7 - Tier 3’ Player Banner + lower Player Banners
Platinum I or higher – ‘Season 7 - Tier 4’ Player Banner + lower Player Banners
Diamond I or higher – ‘Season 7 - Tier 5’ Player Banner + lower Player Banners
Champion I or higher – ‘Season 7 - Tier 6’ Player Banner + lower Player Banners
Grand Champion – 'Season 7 Grand Champion' in-game Title + ‘Season 7 - Tier 7’ Player Banner + lower Player Banners
But we’re not stopping at Player Banners this season! Due to popular demand, eligible players will ALSO receive up to THREE brand new Goal Explosions! That means that you can expect to get ‘Striker,’ ‘Striker Pro’ and ‘Striker Legend’ Goal Explosions at the same time the Player Banners drop at the end of the season. Which Goal Explosions will you receive? Here's the list:
Bronze and Silver Tiers – ‘Striker’ Goal Explosion
Gold and Platinum – ‘Striker’ and ‘Striker Pro’ Goal Explosions
Diamond, Champion and Grand Champion – ‘Striker,’ ‘Striker Pro’ and ‘Striker Legend’ Goal Explosions
Remember, in order to be eligible for Season 7 Rewards, you must first place in a Competitive Playlist AND fulfill the appropriate Season Reward Level or Levels. (You can learn more about Season Reward Levels here.) We’ve also been on the lookout for matchmaking troublemakers, and any account found to be abusing the matchmaking system may lose out on Season 7 Rewards entirely.
The end of Season 7 marks the start of Competitive Season 8 as well! We’ll be doing another soft skill reset this time around, so if you ended Season 7 at Diamond I, for example, you’ll match against players of similar skill during the initial placement matches. If you go on a winning streak during placement, you’ll eventually play against higher-Tier players, while a losing streak would put you against players in the Platinum level or below.
Good luck with the rest of Season 7 and be sure to tell us your thoughts on our Subreddit, Twitter, and our Forums.
Hi everybody! As mentioned earlier this year, we plan to provide a Rocket League roadmap every few months to give you a look at what content is coming in the next quarter or so. As May is now here, it's time to take a look at the roadmap for summer 2018!
May
In late May, we plan to release a Content Update including:
A brand new Arena
The start of Competitive Season 8
Competitive Season 7 Rewards
New in-game music with the release of ‘Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 3’
And more!
June
Following the Content Update, June will bring additional activities both in-game and out:
New, summer-themed in-game Event
The RLCS Season 5 World Championship live from London (be sure to tune in for Fan Rewards)!
New Licensed Premium DLC
July
Every July we celebrate Rocket League’s birthday, and 2018 is no exception. In July, we’ll kick off a big Anniversary in-game Event with some special throwback content for our long time fans as well as a lot of cool goodies to earn. Stay tuned for additional details as we get closer!
Summer Feature Update (July-August)
We also have another huge Feature Update planned for late Summer. Some of the highlights include:
Cross-Platform Friends & Parties
Register an in-game ID that is a combination of a name with a unique code, like Scarab#7777
Add friends from other platforms by entering their ID into the new, in-game friends list
Party up with your new cross-platform friends and play online!
Progression 2.0
Leveling Updates
We’re removing the level cap of 75 and re-balancing the entire level-up curve. Levels will take a fixed amount of XP to earn instead of becoming exponentially longer as you level up.
You’ll be converted to a new level appropriate for how much you’ve played Rocket League in your career.
Leveling up grants you an Uncommon, Rare, Very Rare, or Import item (instead of these drops being randomly-timed as they are currently)
You can earn new Titles and Banners at level 100 and beyond to show off your status
XP Updates
As part of the leveling updates, XP is going to become Online-only
XP will now be based on Time Played in matches in addition to your Score.
New XP Mechanics!
Match Completion Bonus (for finishing games)
Consecutive Games Bonus (for staying in Casual lobbies)
Party Bonus (for playing with friends)
Leaver Penalty (to punish quitters in all modes)
Double XP Weekends
And more!
“Rocket Pass”
Alongside the XP and leveling updates, we’ve also been working on a new system to give you new ways to earn items and make progress while playing Rocket League.
Our “Rocket Pass” system consists of multiple Tiers of earnable content. You increase your Tier by leveling up normally and you’ll unlock new, unique content as you go. Each “Rocket Pass” will last for a few months before it’s retired and a new Pass will take its place with new content to unlock.
The “Rocket Pass” has both Free and Premium tracks so everybody has something to work for. The Free track contains new cosmetic items as well as Decryptors and exclusive in-game Titles, while the Premium track will have a flat cost to unlock. You will be able to preview Premium track content before you buy the unlock to access it.
We are still developing the “Rocket Pass” system and we’ll have more details to share as we get closer to launch!
That’s just a quick look at a few of the major highlights that are coming up this summer. We’re really excited about all of the planned updates and hope you enjoy everything we have in the development pipeline. Thanks for playing!
As mentioned in our Tournaments Update Follow-Up in April, we’re bringing another Double Drop-Rate Weekend to Rocket League!
Starting Thursday, May 10, all Uncommon or higher free customization items and active Crates will drop more frequently after Online matches of any game type. Your chances of earning a Painted version of an item, be it from a drop, a Crate or through the Trade-In system, are doubled as well!
Good luck on your quest for White Zombas, and we’ll see you on the Soccar field this weekend!
Start Time: Thursday, May 10, 5pm PDT (8pm EDT, 2am CEST on May 11)
End Time: Monday, May 14, 10am PDT (1pm EDT, 7pm CEST)
Hi everyone, today we wanted to provide an update on our servers and server performance. This should fill in the basics of what’s happened over the last few weeks, how we are handling it, and steps we're taking to prevent these issues from happening again.
(Note: To better understand what’s below: A server is the physical metal box in the datacenter that hosts several dozen server instances. A server instance is the “server” you play on during an Online or Unranked Match, represented by a name seen in the upper-left corner of your game when playing online -- USW734438, USW101-Aftershock, etc.)
After the Tournaments Update was released on April 3, we started seeing a bug that was causing several performance issues in both your game client -- the stuttering you may have seen when opening the Playlist Menu, for example -- and our servers. We fixed the bug in last Thursday’s v1.44 Hotfix -- “Fixed an issue that caused stuttering in the game client when secure TCP sockets are closed down” -- but the change allowed a new server-side software issue to surface.
This software issue, which appears to be unique to one of our server providers, was preventing the normal server instance restarts that happen either 1) on a timer, typically every 1-2 days, or 2) when a server instance hits certain triggers, like using too much of the server’s memory. With the automatic restarts not working properly, the servers took a sharp performance nosedive, leading to “lag” even when your ping was low, and poor performance for all players in a match regardless of their location or platform.
Over the last few days, we have upgraded both the operating system and the control panel software on every single server we have with this provider. 99% of these software upgrades will be complete by the time you read this post today. These upgrades fix the software bug and also give us the level of control we need to better pinpoint and address issues as they come up. The server reboots associated with these upgrades give us a fresh perspective on the server instance data we're collecting from them. We’re also looking into server hardware replacements in some regions, which will take several weeks to complete and should be seamless in regards to server access. While we are confident in these updates and changes we’ve made over the last few days, we are continuing to monitor server performance and will take additional action when needed.
Server issues like these are something we never want to see or have our community experience. It’s not fair to you and “fix your servers,” is not something we want Rocket League to be known for. We apologize for the disruption, and we appreciate everyone for sticking with us and being patient while we’ve worked through the problem. This is something we absolutely take to heart; it’s a top priority at the studio and has been for the last few weeks. Our affected server provider has been working with us around the clock to implement these software and hardware upgrades, and we have an internal group comprised of Infrastructure, Engineering, Analytics, Production and Community team members tracking this very closely. This group is also looking at the new expanded server data we started collecting shortly before the Tournaments Update went live and we hope that this new information will help us better track down and resolve server reports we previously couldn’t confirm.
If you continue to experience issues while playing online, please let us know through our support team athttps://support.rocketleague.com/hc/en-us or via@RL_Support on Twitter -- and we will take any details you can provide to inform any changes or additional fixes we need to make. Thanks, all!
