It’s been a huge week for Rocket League and our community! We’ve rolled out our free Rumble update , released Rocket League on Mac and SteamOS, introduced a brand new Crates and Keys system, and taken additional steps to ensure that you get the best-possible experience on all supported platforms.
It’s with those new features and added content in mind that we’ve decided to post these updated player behavior guidelines and our policies surrounding them:
NO HARASSMENT, TROLLING, OR OTHER JERK BEHAVIOR
We don’t like toxic players and neither does our community. If someone out there targets you with abusive language, makes threats, or does any of the other bad things we’ve listed in our EULA or Terms of Service, then it’s a bannable offense. We aren’t going to ban someone for using a Quick Chat sarcastically, but using racist, sexist, or otherwise hateful language is grounds for a ban.
To help us ensure that disruptive players are dealt with appropriately, please remember to use our “Mute/ Report Player” feature that allows you to block communications from someone who is bothering you and/ or report them to our team. We revised the in-game UI so that player-bans are more obvious to the individuals receiving them in the Rumble update. We believe that this small, but important change will serve as a more effective deterrent going forward.
SELLING IN-GAME ITEMS IS NOT PERMITTED
Now that Crates and Keys are out in the wild, many of you have been spending a lot of time trading with your friends. Trading is a fantastic way to complete collections in Rocket League, be it for Toppers, Antennas, or Decals, but it’s important to remember the rules that come along with it.
Outside trading puts you at risk for scams and other illegal activity, which is why trying to sell in-game items outside of Rocket League is against our EULA or TOS. More specifically, Crates, Keys, and other in-game items may only be traded for other in-game items, Crates, or Keys to ensure a safer and healthier ecosystem. We know that EULAs and Terms of Use documents are TL:DR's, so consider this a heads-up in plain language that attempting to sell in-game items personally or through third-party websites is not allowed.
OUR BANNING POLICY
Encouraging a healthy environment in Rocket League comes with enforcing our aforementioned player bans. If you’re reporting another player in-game, you can select from among these categories:
Verbal Text Harassment (which includes offensive language, flooding, etc.)
Unsportsmanlike conduct (which includes intentional disruption of the game, AFK’ers. etc.)
Cheating (which includes smurfing, opponent collusion, etc.)
Psyonix has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to harassment of any kind, and we will ban reported offenders at our discretion. The length of player bans for any valid reason is also at our discretion and could include permanent bans if appropriate. Furthermore, the more often you are banned, the longer each subsequent ban will be, including an eventual permanent ban.
With the addition of our new Crates and Keys system, it should also be noted that “Crate Farming” (i.e. players who join matches with no intention of playing with teammates) is not allowed because it takes away from both the flow and the action of a game. If you see someone crate farming during a match, please report them under the “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” category and we’ll take it from there.
FRIENDLY REMINDER
Last but not least? Be nice, everyone! Rocket League is a game that brings people together from all over the world. We want our game to be a fantastic and healthy experience for everyone who enters a stadium, regardless of their skill, rank, or experience. The nicer we are, the more fun our community can have, and having fun is what it's all about!

Car Presets
The Garage now supports “Equip to Blue” and “Equip to Orange” functionality. This allows you to tailor your car differently based on which team you end up on!
You can now create up to ten Car Presets that save a specific car configuration for easy access. Presets can be named to make it easy to switch between your favorites in the main menu.

You can trade Online (Uncommon and up) item drops, Crates and crate items. You can trade most Limited items (like Halloween or Alpha items) but not special rewards like the Season 2 Boosts.
You cannot trade Common items or Premium DLC items. They are bound to your personal account and cannot be given away.
Keys, or items obtained from keys (like crate items) have a “Trade Hold” that prevents them from being traded to other players for 7 days from the time of purchase.
The primary color palette has expanded to give players more options for their Blue and Orange cars, including Green colors for the Blue Team!
Online
Introducing "Champions Crates"...
You can now find “Champions Crates” rarely after completing online matches. They contain exclusive decals, wheels, boost trails, and even "Import" car bodies. Crates can be unlocked with keys, which are for sale in the "Manage Inventory" and Crate Unlock menus
Note: A portion of the proceeds from all "Champions Crates" opened goes directly to Rocket League eSports prize pools.
Each crate has a unique “series” of items it may contain. In the “Manage Inventory” screen, while selecting a crate the tooltip displays the full set of items in that series and which ones you have collected.
Crate items can be used in the existing “Trade In” system that exchanges five items of one rarity for a random new item of higher rarity.
Crate items must be traded up with other items from their same series and you will receive a new item from the same series.
You can view your Crates and preview their possible contents from the “Manage Inventory” screen.
Crate drops do not count against your normal Uncommon/Rare/Very Rare online item drop limit. They are a completely separate system.
All of the "Import" cars included in crates have identical steering and hitbox stats to existing vehicles in the game.
Team Names and Colors are now available in Private Match
When creating a private match, you can now specify custom Team Names for both teams. These names will appear on the scoreboard and when goals are scored.
Private Matches now support Team Color selection. These colors override the colors selected by players. Similar to Season mode, the full color palette is available, and the stadium colors will change to reflect your choices.
Competitive Inactivity
Players who do not play a competitive match for 30 days or longer are now considered Inactive. Inactivity removes you from Competitive Leaderboards and reassigns you to the “Unranked” Skill Tier.
Inactive players’ skill rating is not lost or reset - they must play a few placement matches to be re-calibrated. The number of placement matches depends on how long they have been inactive.
The following Boost Trails have received a visual upgrade:
Bubbles
Confetti
Datastream
Flamethrower Purple
Grass
Hydro
Money
Plasma
Slime
Snowflakes
Sparkles
Thermal
“Retro Utopia” has been removed from the “Rocket Labs” playlist, but can still be played in Private Matches.
UI/ UX
Party Chat is now available in the main menu and more!
Parties of players can now chat together from any screen using a new “Party Chat” widget that appears in the bottom right of your interface. Simply press R2 on PS4, RT on Xbox One, or click the icon on PC to open the chat window.
You can Party Chat on the Main Menu before matchmaking, from Training or other local modes, or even in a live match.
Messages from other party members will appear in your in-game chat log as well.
The “Manage Inventory” screen now supports searching and filtering of items.
While in the Replay Viewer, you can now open the Replay List and change which replay you’re watching from the mid-game menu.
In Competitive matches, the Skill Division / Promotion / Demotion display has been moved to the Scoreboard screen so it does not interfere with the Postgame Spotlight.
BUG FIXES
General
Disabling both “Depth of Field” and “Bloom” in the video options will no longer desaturate the entire game unintentionally.
Guam country flag now appears correctly.
Offensive name plates will once again appear censored to players on PlayStation 4 when appropriate.
Fixed an issue that incorrectly granted Xbox players incorrect XP when switching accounts

After several weeks of build-up, we're pleased to announce that the highly-anticipated Rocket League Rumble update will be hitting next Thursday, September 8!
Yes, it's really happening! After several delays (and our sincerest apologies about that, btw), the SteamOS and Mac versions of the game will finally be available for download. An important thing to note, however, is that both versions are still considered "beta," with a handful of known issues that we've detailed below. It should also be said that while other Linux platforms may work, the SteamOS version of the game is the only Linux client that we're "officially" supporting during the beta period. Likewise, the Mac version may or may not work on older systems with an integrated video solution, but a dedicated GPU is highly recommended (Macs from 2013 and after should be okay). We will continue to make improvements to these versions of Rocket League in future updates, and we thank you for your patience in waiting for it. And now, the SteamOS/ Mac "known issues" list:
The correct store page for DLC purchased through the Showroom doesn't show up for Big Picture users. This is a Steam client-specific issue that Valve will be fixing in an upcoming patch
There are occasional crashes when exiting from a match to the main menu
The statues in Urban Central do not display correctly
You may experience intermittent blurring issues
(Mac Only) Xbox 360 controllers won't work. You will need a third-party driver solution to use them
Party Chat
One of the most popular community requests we've seen is the addition of a Party Chat option and with the Rumble update, you'll finally get one. This new feature will be accessible both in-game and while navigating the menus, with all sent messages being delivered to party members whether they're in a match or not. Battle-Car Presets and Enhanced Team Customization
An even more popular community request (and perhaps the most requested community feature of all time) is the desire to have unique car loadouts. We're happy to report that the oft-demanded "Car Presets" will indeed make their debut in the Rumble update. Offering up to 10 different slots to save your favorite configurations, the Car Preset option also allows you to save your vehicle customizations on a "per team" basis, with new "Equip to Blue" and "Equip to Orange" options!
As an added bonus, we've also expanded your primary color palette with additional shades for the Orange team and all-new green shades for the Blue team. We've even thrown in a "Randomize Preset" button to try out new builds!
Crates and Keys and Esports Too
As Rocket League's competitive scene continues to grow, our support for its players need to grow with it. With that in mind, the Rumble patch will introduce an all-new “Crates and Keys" system that will help fund our upcoming esports events and prize pools.
The system itself is pretty straightforward, as random Crates will occasionally drop in addition to the normal post-game item rewards in Online matches. Players will then have the option to purchase Keys that will allow them to access the contents of the Crates, where they can find random, but exclusive, Garage items that are unique to the Crate they've chosen.
These Crate items (or their duplicates) can be kept or traded with other players after a mandatory trade-hold, and include everything from new "Import" Battle-Cars (i.e. new-look vehicles that have the same hit-boxes, physics, and turning radii as their original inspirations) to unique animated Decals, Exotic Wheels, and other cool Garage accessories.
You will always be able to view the possible contents of a crate prior to opening it and should you decide not to use a Key at all, you can always trade either the unopened Crates or Keys themselves to other players on both PlayStation 4 and Steam PC (please note: we have reached out to Microsoft about implementing key trading on Xbox One). Keys can be purchased individually or in bundles and, as mentioned earlier, a portion of the proceeds will go towards funding future esports events and prize pools. Here is how the pricing will shake out in North America (but you can expect regional equivalents in other territories)
Keys will be available for $1.49 individually, or in bundles of 5 for $5, 10 for $10, or 20 for $20.
If the Crates and Keys system isn't for you, then you can turn it off with a prompt the first time a Crate is dropped in-game or at any time via the Options menu. Should you decide to opt out, you will still receive random Crates when they occur, but you will not be notified, nor will they be displayed in your inventory unless you choose to turn the system back on.
Player-to-Player Trading
Finally, and as mentioned above, Player-to-Player trading will launch with the Rumble update as well! Though some restrictions apply (you won't be able to trade premium DLC items, for example), you will have the ability to swap items with other players on your own platform. Multiple items can be traded in any combination you like -- five hats for five wheels? Eight Antennas for one Boost? It's entirely up to you!
Summation
And that's the Rocket League Rumble update! It's a monster revision to be sure, and one that we hope will have a little something for everyone regardless of your play styles and preferences. Remember to let us know what you think on our official Twitter, Facebook, or Subreddit, and don't forget to check back on September 8 to try it all out for yourself. See you then!

When spinning up a Private Match with friends and teammates, you’ll soon be able to add custom Team Names as well. These names will appear on the scoreboard whenever a goal is scored, and all players in the match will be able to see them.
Along with custom Team Names, Private Matches will also support Team Color selection. That means that teams will be assigned any of the normal Primary and Secondary colors and that Stadium hues will change based on your selections. One thing to note, however, is that for gameplay reasons, you won’t be able to change a car’s primary color to white or black — just secondaries. They’ll still look pretty cool, though!
Check out a closer look below of both upcoming features:
