THE HEADLINES
  • Today’s update prepares Rocket League for the start of Season 4. A second set of patch notes with more information will be posted at the start of Season 4

CHANGES AND UPDATES
Streamer Safe Music
  • Streamer Safe music allows you to play Rocket League’s included music tracks without worrying about DMCA violations while streaming or recording
  • ‘Streamer Safe Music’ can be found under Settings > Audio
  • Once enabled, Rocket League will remove or replace any tracks that may lead to a DMCA violation
    • The Streamer Safe setting works in conjunction with your chosen settings for Player Anthems, playing the soundtrack in-game, and playing the soundtrack during matches
Matchmaking Penalties in Casual Playlists
  • To improve the average match quality in Casual playlists, we are introducing penalties for players who quit Casual games early.
  • Similar to the matchmaking bans for Competitive Playlists, players who leave Casual Playlist matches early may be subject to a short matchmaking ban. Leaving a single match per day won’t result in a penalty, but repeatedly quitting escalates the length of the ban.
  • There are seven ban levels for Casual Playlists:
    • First - 0 Minutes
    • Second - 5 Minutes
    • Third - 10 Minutes
    • Fourth - 20 Minutes
    • Fifth - 40 Minutes
    • Sixth - 1 hour
    • Seventh or more - 2 hours
  • Once you progress beyond the first level, there is a 12-hour cooldown before the ban level de-escalates by one level.
  • You can now “Vote to Concede” a Casual Match once enough time has passed, similar to Competitive play if your team wants to leave or simply proceed to the next match.
  • We’ve made the following changes to backfill behavior
    • If a player leaves a Casual match, they will not be backfilled into the same match
    • Casual matches with a score difference of three goals or more will not be backfilled. Bots will replace any players who leave the match.
Undersized Party Rank Restrictions
  • To help preserve balanced competitive play, parties of two playing in 3v3 Standard in Competitive or 3v3 Tournaments must be within 3 Ranks of each other
    • Examples of allowed undersized parties
      • Gold 3 + Platinum 3 (three ranks apart)
      • Diamond 2 + Champion 1 (two ranks apart)
    • Examples of disallowed undersized parties
      • Gold 3 + Diamond 1 (four ranks apart)
      • Silver 2 + Grand Champion 2 (fifteen ranks apart)
  • This change does not apply to Extra Modes Playlists or Casual Playlists
  • This change starts with Season 4
Player to Player Trading Updates
  • Once both players have entered items and accepted terms, a new trade review screen will appear
    • This screen will display all items involved in the trade
      • All item details are visible at all times on this screen (Painted color, Certification, Special Edition type, Esports affiliation)
    • No new items can be added once this screen appears
      • There is a five-second countdown before the Accept Trade button can be used
      • You can cancel out of the Trade Review screen if you want to go back and add/remove items
Game Ban Messaging
  • New messaging will inform you if your account is close to a permanent ban
    • Similar to current ban messaging, and Report Feedback, this message will appear as a pop-up once Rocket League is started
    • “Due to the number of bans issued on this account, the next ban from Psyonix may be permanent. Please do not use harassing or toxic language in future matches. For more information, please go to support.rocketleague.com”
  • Previous chat and game bans on your account are taken into consideration before this message is delivered

    • Total players online is no longer displayed

This all-new season is taking you to the new Arena called Deadeye Canyon, rolling out the rootinest tootinest Rocket Pass yet, expanding the schedule for Competitive Tournaments, and more!

The latest car, Outlaw, is on the loose, and is wanted for boost stealing and demo hunting. Capture it in Rocket Pass Premium along with 70+ Tiers of the shiniest loot this side of Deadeye Canyon, including No-Name Topper, Tanker Wheels, Amikoo Decal, and Lava Boost. Check them out on Octane below!

KICK DUST IN DEADEYE CANYON

Welcome to your new home on the range: Deadeye Canyon! Take a sneak peek at this gorgeous new Arena in the teaser above, and get ready to hit the dirt in all standard Playlists when Season 4 launches!

EXPANDED COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENTS

The schedule for Competitive Tournaments is growing in all regions! Additional Tournaments are being added, and 2v2 and Extra Mode Tournaments are joining the mix. Be sure to check out the schedule each day to see what Extra Mode is being featured and to see the new start times. Plus, Tournament Rewards have been refreshed for the new Season! Lasso your squad and join the bracket.

LTMS ON THE HORIZON

2v2 Heatseeker will kick off as the featured LTM on August 12, the day after Season 4 goes live. Then, be on the lookout for Speed Demon on August 19! This super-fast LTM combines mutators, the speed of Boomer Ball without the wild bounces, demos on contact, and a fast respawn timer. Spring Loaded, the Rumble variant that is currently a mutator option in Private Matches, will also be added to the LTM mix later this month.

NEW FEATURES AND CHANGES COMING IN THIS UPDATE

Streamer Safe Music Feature
A new Audio Setting is being added so players can turn off copyright protected music. This will help prevent content creators from having their streams or videos delisted due to DMCA violations. By checking the "Streamer Safe Music (Only)" box in Audio Settings, DMCA protected audio will be muted or replaced by music that is free to use. This setting will affect both Rocket League Radio as well as Player Anthems.

Undersized party Rank restrictions
Following the start of Season 4, players who queue in Ranked playlists in an undersized party (a party of two players in Competitive 3v3 Standard, or a party of two players joining a 3v3 Standard Tournament) will have to be within three Ranks of each other in order to queue. This is so the third teammate that is found via matchmaking will join a team that is roughly the same Rank as their teammates. For example, if one party member is Platinum 2 and another is Diamond 3 (a gap of four Ranks), they will not be able to queue in 3v3 standard. However, if one is Platinum 3 and the other is Diamond 3 (a gap of three Ranks), they can queue. Brand new players will only be allowed to queue with players who are Ranked Gold 3 and below when in an undersized party.

This change does not take Rank Divisions into account, and does not affect parties of two attempting to queue in 2v2, Casual Playlists, or any Extra Mode Playlists. We hope this change creates a better Competitive experience for those solo queuing in 3v3.

Improvements to Casual Matches
We know that it can be frustrating when teammates leave Casual Matches early, and we're taking steps to improve the experience. After the update, we're adding the ability to forfeit Casual Matches just like Competitive Matches. If all players on a team vote to concede, the Casual Match will end just like it were a Competitive Match. With the option to concede being added, we're also adding matchmaking bans for players who continually leave casual matches. For the players that only occasionally leave Casual Matches, there will be no penalty for leaving one Casual match per day. However, the bans will get longer if more Casual Matches are abandoned. We hope these changes, and a few more, will improve the Casual experience for players who choose to enjoy Rocket League outside of Competitive play.

Be sure to check out the full patch notes for more details before the update goes live.

UPDATE INCOMING!

A game update will be available on August 10 at 4 p.m. PDT (11:00 p.m. UTC) to lay the groundwork for the launch of Season 4. Competitive Season 3 ends at 7:30 a.m. PDT (2:30 p.m. UTC) on August 11, and Competitive Rewards will be distributed after Season 4 begins.

Season 4 will begin on August 11 at 8 a.m. PDT (3 p.m. UTC), so get ready for the biggest hoedown and hootenanny ever to hit Rocket League!
Rocket League® - Psyonix Ted
Season 3 is in its final lap and will end on August 11. That means it's time to talk about what's coming in Season 4. You may have seen our Community Update on Reddit last week that mentioned improvements to Tournaments. We're happy to announce that with the start of Season 4, we're adding more Competitive Tournaments each day, including Tournaments for 2v2 and Extra Modes!

EXPANDING THE COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENTS SCHEDULE IN SEASON 4

2v2 Tournaments are here, and will function just like 3v3 Tournaments. Simply join a Competitive Tournament either alone or with a teammate to enter into a 32-team bracket, and climb your way to victory! With new Tournaments being added to the daily schedule, we didn't want to simply replace any existing 3v3 Tournaments. So, the daily schedule of Competitive Tournaments is expanding to include more Tournaments to join in each region! We will be adding between eight and 13 additional tournaments a week in every region. Check out the schedule each day to see which Tournament is best for you and your team.

Expanding the number of tournaments each day means we can add different kinds of Tournaments to the schedule, such as Extra Mode Tournaments. The featured Extra Mode can change every day, so be sure to look at the schedule each day for Tournaments in Rumble, Hoops, Snow Day, and Dropshot! Teams will enter Extra Mode Tournaments at their Tournament Rank, but Tournament Ranks will not be affected by performance in Extra Mode Tournaments. However, players will still receive Tournament Credits and Tournament Winner Titles from these Tournaments.

We'll be keeping a close eye on the impact in these newly added time slots and modes, and will adjust the schedule if necessary.

UPDATED TOURNAMENTS INTERFACE

Along with an expanded schedule for Competitive Tournaments, Season 4 is also coming with an updated look for the Tournaments History tab. This new U.I. will show a log of your Competitive Tournaments history, including when it was entered, how you placed, and the Rank of the Tournament. Speaking of Ranks, your Tournament Rank will now be displayed on the Tournament home screen.

LAST CHANCE FOR SEASON 3!

There's less than a week left before we hit the dusty trail in Season 4! Reach those extra Pro Tiers in your Rocket Pass and fulfill your appropriate Season Reward Level to earn your Season 3 Rewards! To help unlock some more Tiers in your Rocket Pass, enjoy a Double XP Weekend happening now through August 9!

We're circling the wagons as we get ready to reveal the new car, Rocket Pass, Arena, and more coming in Season 4, so stay tuned for more info next week!

Rocket League is nearing the end of Season 3, but a new Item Series will arrive before it reaches the finish line. Be on the lookout for items from the all new Auriga Series, which will start appearing as Blueprints starting today!

The Auriga Series is led by the latest car, Dingo — an enforcer with classic stylings and an Octane hitbox. Dingo comes with four Decals, and the Series has additional Decals specific to this new car. The Auriga series features more than a dozen all-new items, like the Glitch and Astro-CSX Wheels (which both have Special Edition variants), Humid Haze Animated Decal, and more! It also has two new Black Market items: Encryption Decal and the Inamorata Goal Explosion.

Don't forget, items from the new Series can be unlocked two different ways: Blueprints or the Item Shop. If you receive a Blueprint after a match, just use Credits to build the item from the Blueprint to add it to your inventory. These items will also begin appearing in the Item Shop, so be sure to check it out in the coming weeks.

For new players, here's some quick info on how Blueprints work:
  • Players receive a Blueprint for an item after some Online Matches.
  • Blueprints show you exactly what item you can build.
  • Look out for Blueprints that unlock Painted or Special Edition item variants.
  • Blueprints, and the items you get from them, are tradable to other players on the same platform.

The name's League... Rocket League

Get ready to jump into the driver's seat of the iconic car driven by James Bond himself! The Rocket League pitch will be shaken, maybe even stirred, by the arrival of the famous 1963 Aston Martin DB5 on July 29.

Q has been hard at work in the lab developing the perfect vehicle for Soccar. The Aston Martin DB5 has been outfitted with rocket boost and an Octane hitbox, and is now ready to go airborne and score goals. 007’s Aston Martin DB5 comes with the signature Silver Birch Paint Finish that resembles the original color of the Aston Martin, one-of-a-kind Engine Audio, 007's Aston Martin DB5 Wheels, and a Reel Life Decal.

*Note: The items included in the bundle can only be equipped by the Aston Martin DB5. The Aston Martin DB5 cannot be customized with all item types.

Get 007’s Aston Martin DB5 in the Item Shop for 1100 Credits for a limited time before it's gone. Bond will declassify more of his garage later this year, so stay tuned for more mission briefings!
