It's going to be a great year for Rocket League Esports and we can't wait to tell you about it. But before we do, we just wanted to say THANK YOU to our community and our players for continuing to support our game and each other day in and day out. Without your loyalty, Rocket League wouldn't be what it is today (or what it will be tomorrow), so thank you once again for all you've done.
Now, on to why you're here!
Following up on yesterday's joint announcement with our partners at Twitch and the news regarding Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 3, there's no better time than right now to talk about our plans for esports in 2017.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that Rocket League is a game and esport where everyone can compete, everyone can progress, and everyone can enjoy. It was with that in mind that we started to evaluate the best way we could invest in esports with the funds earned through our community-funded 'Crates and Keys' pool.
We quickly realized that we needed to take a different approach when it came to our esports program, and while conventional wisdom normally dictates that we just drop additional loot on top of the existing RLCS prize pool, we wanted to do something more. A community-funded prize pool should benefit the ENTIRE community -- whether it means a group of friends competing over the weekend or the absolute best in the world vying for the RLCS World Championship.
WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO
In 2017, we are investing more than $2.5 million dollars into Rocket League Esports. This investment means that players all over the world can expect to see a number of significant changes to our competitive ecosystem, including:
More than $1 Million in total prize pools (including RLCS)
Bigger, more meaningful appearances at multiple major competitive gaming festivals
Onsite events at major gaming conventions, including PAX, SXSW, and more
Extensive funding for community-run tournaments
Expanded weekly tournament support in multiple regions, including Europe, North America, Oceania, South America, and more
A true collegiate Rocket League Esports program
A new series of tournaments for the Xbox community
An all-new weekly talk show on Twitch that covers all things 'RLCS'
A robust new esports hub on the Rocket League website
Ongoing charity tournaments
Numerous in-game esports features and enhancements
UNTIL NEXT TIME
This is just a preview of what we have in store for 2017 and we're looking forward to bringing you the best year of Rocket League Esports yet! We believe that this plan will not only allow RLCS to grow, but also, our esports presence as a whole. We'll have more details about the plan over the coming weeks, and to our players, community, partners, and friends: see you soon.

It's been two months since the spectacular conclusion of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 2, which saw the incredible Flipsid3 Tactics take down the talented players of Mockit Aces in back-to-back series to become the second RLCS World Champions.
After a brief hiatus, the RLCS is back and bigger than ever with new players, new stories, and a brand new region! That's right, Season 3 will, at long last, introduce the highly-competitive players from Oceania to the teams of North America and Europe for a chance to win the largest prize pool in Rocket League esports history - a grand total of $300,000!
HOW TO COMPETE:
If you want to test your luck (and more importantly, your skills) in Season 3, the North American and European regions can register to compete in the Open Qualifier on the Official RLCS Website starting February 9, 2017. Once the qualifiers are complete, eight teams from each region (16 total) will continue on in League Play.
For Oceanic players interested in making their first-ever championship run, registration timelines will be slightly different with more details on the way fairly soon.
HOW TO WATCH:
For fans who love to watch, the first RLCS broadcast of Season 3 will kick off with a North American Open Qualifier finale at 12:00pm PST/ 3:00pm EST on Saturday, March 11 followed by the finale of the European Open Qualifier on Sunday, March 12 at 9:00am PDT/ 12:00pm EDT. Join us at https://www.twitch.tv/rocketleague to catch the action, and be sure to follow the official RLCS Twitter and Facebook handles for updates and all the latest news!
In addition to everything we've already mentioned above, Season 3 will also feature a brand new RLCS weekly talk show that launches in mid-March. Look for more details in the coming weeks.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for even more exciting information regarding Rocket League Esports in 2017 and how it will expand beyond the RLCS. See you then.

Finally, Rocket League is coming to the real world! We're proud to announce today that we have teamed up with Zag Toys on a new line of Original Minis Pull-Back Racers.
Starting this Spring, 12 of our iconic Battle-Cars will be available for purchase as Racers, with each car housed in its own miniature Rocket Ball. These Original Minis will be similar to the toy cars we all grew up with (or if you’re me, still play with now). Pull the Racer back on the carpet or floor, wait as the power ratchet up, and let it fly!
We’re also bringing some unique in-game content with these new Original Minis, as some of the Racers will include a code that can be redeemed in Rocket League for a special Rocket Trail and Wheel!
Octane, Dominus, Masamune, Hotshot, Grog, X-Devil, Merc, and Backfire will all be part of the new Original Minis line, along with four limited variants to round out the first dozen Racers. Check out the GIF below to see the Racers in action!
