https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNo5zpnk6l0 As we leave 2018 and all of its amazing plays in the rearview mirror, it’s time for us to look ahead at what’s on the horizon for Rocket League Esports. Without further ado, we’re proud to announce Season 7 of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS)!
We’re back with over $1,000,000 in prizing up for grabs, but the landscape of the RLCS is changing as we continue to bring more competitive Rocket League to players around the globe. Following our full Cross-Platform Play announcement, we’re excited to share that players can compete on any platform where Rocket League is currently available (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam, Xbox One).
Mapping a New Region
It’s no secret that Rocket League Esports is growing. With that growth comes the opportunity to bring Rocket League to more regions around the world. We’re excited—and proud—to announce that we’ll be adding South America (SAM) as an official RLCS region! Additional details on qualifiers for the region will be announced in the coming weeks.
Rival Series Qualifiers
Just like last year, you’ll be able to team up and take on some of the best teams in the world to qualify for the Rocket League Rival Series. This year’s open qualifiers will follow the same format, allowing your team to enter up to two qualifiers (of the four total qualifiers). Following the completion of all four qualifiers, the remaining ‘Top 128’ teams will move on to the Play-In phase where they’ll battle to fill the final four Rival Series spots in both North America and Europe. So, grab your squad, sign up, and get ready to compete for your spot! For the full Smash.gg page, click here!

With special thanks to all of our friends and colleagues at PlayStation, we are thrilled to announce that starting RIGHT NOW, Rocket League has entered the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program! Players on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam can now randomly matchmake with or against each other in all Online match types (i.e. Casual, Competitive, and Extra Modes).
To make sure that Cross-Platform play is enabled (it is by default), head to the "Main Menu," select "Options" and then make sure the "Cross-Platform Play" box is checked in the "Gameplay" tab. And that's all there is to it. You are now ready to play against gamers on other platforms across the world!
But what about cross-platform parties? In our first update this year (more information coming soon), we will release our cross-platform party system, which allows you to partner up with friends on any platform with the push of a few buttons.
Should you want to play with friends on other platforms before cross-platform parties release, however, you can! Just select "Play" from the "Main Menu," then "Private Match," followed by "Create" or "Join Private Match," and you're set from there.
Today's announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix, because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time. It's because of YOU, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place. On behalf of the entire team, THANK YOU for your passion and persistence as we continue to do our best to make Rocket League the best experience we can.

The end of 2018 is nearly upon us, which means that it's time to reflect back on the year’s achievements and see how we can make Rocket League even better. So in this Community Spotlight, let’s look back at the moments that defined us, the new discoveries we made together and a featured look at the top Custom Training packs of 2018!
Reflecting on An Amazing Year
2018 was a big year for Rocket League. We reached some amazing milestones - including 52 million players worldwide, 37 million Custom Training packs downloaded, 1.7 million Clubs created, and 3 billion online matches played! From Tournaments and Ranked Extra modes to Rocket Pass 1 and 2, Salty Shores and a T-rex goal explosion, Rocket League and its community have grown quite a bit this year.
As the community grew this year, so did some of its brightest stars! Gibbs and SunlessKhan opened their arms and minds to help us with replay analysis, while redditors u/HelvetiaGaming and u/HoraryHellfire2 defined entirely new skills like the ‘Heljump’ and ‘Ceiling Shuffle.’ But the content didn’t stop there; channels like Rocket Science, FLuuMP, Jon Sandman, and PhantomAce gave us a constant source of random fun, in-depth Rocket League analysis, and even brand new mechanics! Over on the subreddit we were “blessed” time after time by the Wet Art Man himself, demo'd by u/sledge98, and balled on by u/amustycow; not to mention the other 450,000-plus subscribers who shared their highlights and ideas with us every day. And how about the new kid on the block? The Rocket League Discord server finally set its status to official and reached over 85 thousand users -- and counting! All-in-all, the Rocket League community has a lot to be proud of. We can’t wait to share 2019 with you all!
Custom Training
Since the start of 2018, nearly 100 Custom Training packs have made it to the ‘Featured’ tab, enjoyed by Rocket League players all around the world. Each pack has helped us (and you, we hope) confidently hit the pitch every day with new skills and mechanics. While we normally pick a new 'Featured' list each month, we thought it would be nice to celebrate the best of the best in 2018, so here we go!
Right at the top is Poquito’s ‘Wall Shots,’ which is a perfect practice pack for learning how to read the ball as it comes up the wall, how to freestyle, or even how to set yourself up for double touch backboard shots. Up next are two defense-minded packs -- `Shadow Defense` and `Super Defense` -- which are perfect for shadowing the ball for saves and tight angle blocks. If you need to ramp up the difficulty, both `Backboard Training` and `High Level Shots` are perfect for wall reads and securing fast-paced, precise redirects. There’s a training pack for every level of skill, so don’t be afraid to try one out!
