Rocket League®

Rocket League loves crossovers. Since its 2015 launch—deep breath—Twisted Metal, Warframe Top Gun, Game of Thrones, Casper, Harry Potter, The Ring, X-Men, Blacklight Retribution, Back to the Future, Halo, Gears of War, The Fast and the Furious, Mario, Metroid, and Batman (did I miss any?) have entered the ball-cage-car arena.

And now, as part of Psyonix's DC Super Heroes pack, the Caped Crusader is set to return with both its Christian Bale-powered Dark Knight Tumbler, and its 1989 Tim Burton/Michael Keaton-style Batmobile.

Check 'em out:

Alongside the Bat, a host of familiar faces have been treated to decals, wheels and banners too. Here's the list in full:

  • Aquaman—Breakout Decal and Player Banner.
  • Batman—Paladin Decal and Player Banner.
  • Cyborg—Roadhog Decal and Player Banner.
  • DC—Player Banner (previously released in Collector’s Edition).
  • Flash—Wheels, Venom Decal, Player Banner, and Speed Force Boost (wheels and player banner previously released in Collector’s Edition).
  • Green Arrow—Hotshot Decal and Player Banner.
  • Green Lantern—Merc Decal and Player Banner.
  • Superman—Octane Decal and Player Banner.
  • Wonder Woman—Wheels, X-Devil Decal, and Player Banner.

All of that is due March 5, and will cost $3.99/your regional equivalent. In the meantime, Rocket League's Tournaments beta rolls out later today

I wonder if its players will behave themselves?

Rocket League®

Rocket League will be getting an official DC Super Heroes DLC pack on March 5th, developer Psyonix has announced. It includes two premium Batman-themed Battle-Cars, and a variety of cosmetics inspired by DC Super Heroes.

It's Batmobile all the way as far as the Battle-Cars goes, with the new DLC pack containing two versions of Batman's iconic ride. There's the Dark Knight Rises Tumbler variant, as well as the classic 1989 Batmobile from the Jack Nicholson-starring movie. You can see them both whizzing about the place in the trailer below.

Additionally, the DC Super Heroes DLC pack features 21 super-hero-themed items, which look a little something like this:

But we’re bringing more than just the Batmobiles to the game with this DLC pack, so check out the full list of included customization items (sorted by hero) below!
  • Aquaman -- Decal (Breakout), and Player Banner

Hi everyone! We hope you’re all enjoying Competitive Season 7 so far, along with the Season 6 Reward Wheels. Starting, well, today, we plan on following every Content or Feature Update with a post to talk about issues that came up with that update (in this case, Rocket League v1.41) as well as address some issues we see you talking about on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and beyond.

Now that the February Update is out in the wild, we’re working on a Mini Update (along with the Spring Update and Tournaments Beta) that we’re aiming to release on March 5. This Mini Update would address several known issues you may be aware of, including:
  • Change Preset not working on the Endgame screen
  • Division/Rank Up or Down not displaying on the Endgame screen
  • Controller vibration strength
The Mini Update is only targeting a few issues on our radar, while our Spring (March/ April) Update will contain additional bug fixes for multiple platforms.

Season 7 Placement Matches

We’re a little over a week into Season 7 and many of you have completed your placement matches. We’ve seen some feedback on our soft reset format and we don’t want you to feel there’s unnecessary chaos during placements. With new seasons, we increase your ability to change ranks after the reset and this will naturally cause you to run into some players who were previously above or below your rank. This is totally normal and gives everyone a chance to recalibrate.

That said, we do handle Champion ranks and above a little differently, and we wanted to dig into that reasoning a little bit here. We clamp the skill of Champions and above down to a skill ceiling between seasons around Diamond 3 / Champion 1 and let them climb back to higher ranks during placement and beyond. This measure is necessary to keep the top end of the skill curve manageable and to avoid it inflating season over season.

This does cause some churn at those ranks that we’re discussing how to mitigate for future seasons. In the short term, this up-and-down is temporary and should settle sooner than later.

Season 6 Rewards

Speaking of Competitive Seasons, our Season 6 Wheels were sent out with the February Update to all of you who qualified for Rewards. Keeping in line with previous seasons, we also revoked these Wheels from a number of accounts that were found to be abusing the matchmaking system. Matchmaking abuse may include boosting, being boosted by another player, win-trading, and other irregular activity.

Diamond Wheels and Tsunami Beam Boost

Of course we saved the best news for last! First, we’re making a change with the Tsunami Beam Boost that came with the Victory Crate last week. After the February Update went live, we realized that Tsunami Beam had a chance of dropping with the Cobalt paint color. As Cobalt Tsunami Beam is very close to the original, we are removing all Cobalt-Painted Tsunami Beams and replacing them with Sky Blue-Painted variants. This will be automatic, will happen regardless if you received it as a drop or via trade, and is happening right now.

Next, we’re happy to share the update we’re making to the Season 6 Diamond Wheel! We’ve taken in your feedback and addressed the Wheel’s look accordingly -- take a look at the Wheel below and let us know what you think on the Subreddit and on Facebook or Twitter. Thank you, and enjoy the Tournaments Beta next week!

Rocket League®

Rocket League's Tournaments mode, which will allow players to create and join bracketed, single elimination tournaments, will be available next week for a brief beta test. Starting on Wednesday, February 21 at 10 am PST, players can opt in to the Tournaments beta branch on Steam and test it out until Friday, February 23 at 5 pm PST.

After the start time, you can join by right clicking Rocket League in your Steam library, hitting 'Properties,' navigating to the 'Betas' tab, and selecting the 'Tournaments Beta' branch. Once you've done that, the beta client will replace your standard, live client. You won't lose any of your player data, and though you won't be able to play ranked in the beta, deselecting the beta branch will revert you to the live version at any time.

Tournaments will be officially added in the Spring Update, sometime in March or April. We also learned recently that the existing alternative modes like Hoops and Snow Day may be getting their own ranked play at some point—though the idea is currently being discussed, not necessarily actively worked on. More of what's ahead can be seen in Psyonix's latest roadmap.

Update: As a Snow Day enthusiast I had to ask, and yep, Psyonix tells me we'll be able to set up tournaments with custom game modes during the beta.

We’re building organized competition into Rocket League, and we need your help to test it!

Ahead of its official release on all platforms in our Spring Update, the 'Tournaments Beta' version of Rocket League will be available for download on Steam starting Wednesday, February 21, with the beta ending on Friday, February 23. The beta is purpose-built to help us test functionality and the new UI we have created for the Tournaments system. Check out the trailer for the Tournaments Beta up top!

How do you get into the beta? Easy! If you own a copy of Rocket League on Steam, all you’ll need to do, starting February 21, is 1) go to your Steam Library on your computer and right-click Rocket League, 2) choose ‘Properties,’ 3) click the ‘BETAS’ tab in the pop-up window, and 4) choose ‘Tournaments Beta’ from the drop-down list. After closing the pop-up window, your Steam client will update Rocket League to the beta.

Once you have the Tournaments Beta downloaded, you will be able to create your own tournaments and join competitions created by other players.

A few things to keep in mind if you want in on the beta:
  • The ‘Tournaments Beta’ version of Rocket League replaces the ‘Live’ version you already have installed, but it will NOT erase your XP, inventory, replays, or other player data.
    • Your control configuration and some audio and video settings may change.
  • Competitive Playlists will not be available in the Tournaments Beta.
    • Other functionality may also be limited.
  • Once the Tournaments Beta is over, or at anytime during the beta if you want to hop into a Competitive Playlist, simply go back to the ‘BETAS’ tab in the menu we mentioned above, choose ‘NONE - Opt out of all beta programs,’ from the same drop-down list, and Steam will download the latest ‘Live’ version of Rocket League.
  • There is no cross-platform functionality in the Tournaments Beta.
  • Beta start time: 10am PST on February 21
  • Beta end time: 5pm PST on February 23
We’ll be taking in all of your feedback about the beta on our Subreddit, as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Oh, and that new logo you spied in the trailer up above? We’re going to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars all year long, so look for the logo in all of our trailers throughout 2018!
