Hi, beta version of Toribash 5.5 is now available on Steam for all platforms! To try it out, go to Toribash properties from your Steam Library, open Betas tab and switch to "beta" branch.
What is new in Toribash 5.5:
New type of grabs - rotatable and can be broken Grip mode can be changed via gamerules menu (CTRL + G). Manual commands are /set grabmode and /set tearthreshold.
New grabs allow rotating whatever you're grabbing compared to fixed default grabs
Tear threshold is used to determine how much force is required to break the grab (0 is disabled)
Grab breaking depends on force direction - it's easier to break a grab when you're pulling something away and almost impossible when pushing
Advanced ghost with customizable speed and length Ghost settings can be modified in gamerules menu. Manual commands are /set ghostspeed and /set ghostlength. To revert back to default ghost, use /set ghostcustom 0.
Ghost speed can be set from 0.1x to 5x
Ghost length can be set from 10 to 500 frames
Using new grabs or ghosts in multiplayer will make the room unavailable for players on older versions of Toribash.
New gamerules menu
Only relevant settings are displayed (e.g. grab mode is only displayed when grabs toggle is checked)
Some setting names have been updated to be easier to understand
Settings that only allow specific values are now displayed as dropdowns or sliders
New flame forger
Preview up to 5 flames at once
General flame forging prices have been lowered and now depend on more flame parameters (meaning simple flames will be even cheaper)
New "relative gravity" setting to apply gravity relatively to bodypart your flame is linked to
If you already have flames equipped, they'll be initially loaded in forger with proper settings
Ability to forge flames directly from game client
Other minor updates
Multi-key search in replays menu
Updated visuals on error messages
New "/set curtf" command to modify current fight's turn frames while in single player
High DPI mode for Apple devices (requires Retina screen) - can be toggled from Graphics tab in Settings
Minimum screen resolution has been increased to 768x480
Bug fixes
Fixed win points not counting damage dealt from dismembers or fractures
Fixed damage threshold not scaling on heavy hits
Fixed joint position sometimes being displayed at a wrong position when it's linked to a rotated bodypart
Toribash 5.5 also comes with a bunch of unlisted Lua-related updates, if you're interested in Toribash scripting please check Toribash repo on GitHub: https://github.com/blahnumbers/Toribash/tree/5.5
Step right up and try your luck at the head in the wall event! All you have to do is throw your head through one of the holes in the floor, how hard can that be? If you can make it through you may just win a prize! And if you manage do it the most stylish way, we've got something extra for you!
To participate, go to the News tab in game and choose the "Head in the wall" event. Press the "Participate" button located bottom right. Once you hit your head through a hole, submit your replay for reviewed by the Event Squad - and you will receive a reward once they've checked it!
Earn one of the two special edition Halloween items by streaming or watching Toribash on Twitch for 30 minutes or longer over this weekend! This time you'll be able to receive a spookified version of Odlov's legend Odd Mask item or the Fear Potion!
Hi and welcome to the Event Squad's Free Run Frenzy!
The challenge is simple, get to Uke! Parkour your way to him in the most stylish way possible! In addition to that, those who wants an extra challenge and better prizes may take a detour through the blue zone - but be careful not to fall off!
Replay hacking is forbidden
Don't change any of the game rules except for turn frames
Do not steal others' replays
Your whole Tori must make it into the red end zone
Do not edit Uke's joints
Go to the News tab in the game client, choose "Free Run Frenzy 4" event and press the "Participate" button on bottom right. Once you reach the end zone, click "Submit" on the bottom of your screen - this it will allow you to upload your replay for ES to review. The game will automatically mark the advanced task as complete if the blue checkpoint is reached. Additionally, after hitting "Participate" you can click "Load Custom Replay" on bottom right to upload pre-existing replays, provided they're created in the same mod as the event. Keep in mind that we will only judge the FIRST replay you upload with the game, and if you want to change your entry to a different replay, you need to upload it on forums and post in event thread
Head Texture of the Month is back for October, and yet again, with another special twist!
We took some inspiration from Calamity's Finish It Challenge! to bring you an event that will get those creative juices flowing. You will have until November 8th to create a head texture, and as there is no set style other than the provided sketch, you'll have full artistic freedom yet again! The person who creates the head that best fits the judging criteria receives prizes, but don't worry, if you don't make it out on top there will be several honorable mentions. Now lets get to drawing everyone!
Rules
We do still have rules that are to be followed. Keep in mind we may not judge your art if it doesn't follow ALL of these rules.
You are required to use the sketch provided at the bottom of this announcement.
You must use ALL of the sketch, but you're allowed to break up the lines that are not separated as well if needed.
You must show proof that you used and kept the original line-work provided. (Ex. Drawing over them with a visible color.)
You are allowed to mirror the line-work, but you're only required to show the original line-work.
No plagiarism, this isn't tolerated at all and is severely punishable.
Do not submit old or premade textures.
A rough sketch or WIP is required to prove that it is a head in progress and not a premade head that you are reposting.
Collaborations are allowed, however in this scenario prizes will be split.
Only one submission is allowed, which also means no alts used to submit two different heads. If you're collaborating with another artist, you can only submit that head.
Submissions must be in 512x512 resolution or higher.
Post watermarked flats in event thread with spherical previews. It would be much appreciated if you used Toribash Textures for 3D previews.
If you aren't using Toribash Textures, ensure to make your previews clear, show all aspects of your head and attempt to keep watermarks somewhat non-intrusive while still being effective.
Prizes
The winner will receive the following:
2048x1024 Head Texture item
7 Shiai Tokens
75,000 Toricredits
The winners of the honourable mentions prize will receive the following:
