We’re excited to share an update regarding the upcoming free Challenge Update for Talisman: Digital Edition. As always, we want to keep you as up-to-date as possible when it comes to the exciting things that are happening to your favourite digital board game.
The Challenge Update
We’re pleased to announce that The Challenge Update will be coming to the Steam, iOS and Android versions of Talisman: Digital Edition on March 1st, 2021! And as always, this new update will also include a heap of bug fixes and improvements to the game.
Hopefully you’ll have already seen our sneak peak at what this free update will add to Talisman, but if you haven’t… check it out here! We’ve been playing with this update internally for a good while now, and we can already see how much it adds to the game. Having different goals to reach for is one thing, but being able to show off your Talisman skills to your friends with titles and exclusive avatars adds a whole new level of fun to playing the game.
We’re including a whole heap of exciting challenges with this initial release, but since finishing up the update we’ve already started looking at how we can expand and add to this feature going forward. If you have any suggestions - we’re all ears!
We’re also going to be doing some exciting developer streams to celebrate the update launching, so stay tuned to our social media to find out when we’ll be going live. Speaking of, you can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Discord - or sign up to our newsletter!
Right now, we're hosting an AMA over on the r/BoardGames subreddit!
If you've got any burning questions for the Nomad Games team, throw them our way over on Reddit right now! We're happy to answer questions about Talisman, future updates and anything else Talisman related you might be wanting to ask. We're also happy to answer questions about digital board games, our other titles or anything else you can think of!
Today we’re going to be giving you a sneak peek at what we’ve been working on for Talisman: Digital Edition over the last few months! Back in September we rolled out the Profile Update which added a bunch of exciting new profile features, including avatars and stat tracking.
As part of our continued commitment to making Talisman: Digital Edition the best game it can be, we’ve been working on adding even more features to the game. Which is why we’re excited to announce that our next free update for Talisman will be the Challenge Update!
This update includes a heap of additions to the profile system we added in September, so we’ve gone over some of the exciting additions you can expect to see below:
Challenges
The most obvious addition with this update are challenges themselves! These are in-game challenges that you can complete whenever you play Talisman: Digital Edition. There are challenges for almost everything you can do in the game, along with some harder to earn challenges too. Getting toaded finally has a use!
As long as you’re signed into your Nomad Account, these challenges will be persistent across all your devices as well - so you can work towards your challenges on mobile while you’re away from your computer!
Timed Challenges
We wanted to give all our players a good range of different challenges to complete when we were designing them. That is why we’ve split the challenges into four different types:
Daily
Weekly
Monthly
Ongoing
As you can probably guess, the first three types of challenges reset every day, week and month, respectively. Ongoing challenges will never expire, so you can keep making progress on them without having to worry about completing them within a certain timeframe. These challenges are also colour coded so that you can easily see at a glance what challenges you still need to complete.
If a challenge expires before you complete it, don’t worry - these timed challenges will come around again, you just might have to wait a while! However, any progress you made on that timed challenge will be reset once they roll back around. So if you have to cast 100 spells in a week and you get to 50 then the week ends, that challenge will come back at some point and you'll be on zero.
And as you work on your challenges, you’ll receive a notification at the end of your turn to let you know your current progress. You can see it in the bottom right of the screen, and is an easy way to keep track of your progress as you play!
Challenge Points
Also new with this update are Challenge Points - a special reward you can receive for completing challenges.
You’ll probably also notice that a lot of these challenges have rosettes next to them. This signifies the kind of reward you’ll earn for completing that challenge! If you take a look at a lot of the timed challenges, you’ll see that they have a rosette with a number inside it. That number signifies how many challenge points you’ll earn for completing that challenge.
Different challenges will reward different numbers of points, depending on how difficult the challenge is. But what are challenge points for we hear you ask?
Challenge Rank
As you earn challenge points, your challenge rank will increase. As your challenge rank increases, your standing in the monthly Talisman Challenge ranks will go higher and higher!
The Challenge rank is a monthly leaderboard that will reset at the end of every month - we’re hoping that you’ll compete against other challengers and your friends to be the highest rank each month!
Avatars
Want to deck out your profile with a cool new look? Back in September we added profile avatars to the game, so you could show off your favourite character. As of this update, you can now unlock new avatars by completing challenges!
A number of challenges award exclusive avatars that can only be earned by completing those specific challenges. Not every challenge will reward you with an avatar, but you can tell which ones will by the ‘avatar’ symbol next to them! We hope you all enjoy unlocking new ways to customise your avatar and show off your Talisman prowess!
Titles
Alongside avatars, the Challenge Update also includes a new way for you to customise your profile - titles! Just like Challenge avatars, these can be unlocked by completing certain challenges. These are all related to the challenge you’ve completed, and we spent a long time making sure there were titles that all Talisman players would appreciate. If you want to be known as the ‘Toad King’ to all your Talisman friends, you’re going to have to work for it!
Unlocked titles appear in a new tab on the profile screen, and will also tell you how you earned them if you unlocked them by completing challenges. We can’t wait for you to see them all!
And finally, this is what your friend list looks like with the new avatar and title system! Like we said, it’s a great way to show off your Talisman achievements or favourite characters to your friends as you play.
So when can we expect to play with this?
We’re still working on adding the finishing touches to the Challenge Update and need to make sure our internal quality assurance team are happy with it. We’ll then need to roll it out on all platforms.
Once we’re close to releasing the update, we’ll shout about it on all our different social media channels, so follow us if you want to be in the know! If you want to stay up to date with the latest Talisman news, follow us on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Discord - or sign up to our newsletter!
If you follow us on any kind of social media, chances are you'll have seen that over the past year we've been hard at work on our next game, Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition! Just like Talisman: Digital Edition, this is another digital adaptation of a much loved Games Workshop board game.
As thanks to all the Talisman: Digital Edition players who have supported us over the years, we've worked with those lovely folk at Valve to offer a 10% launch discount to all Talisman: Digital Edition owners.
Combined with the 10% launch discount, this means you can grab the game this week for 20% off and join the hunt! If you're looking for a new addition to your digital board game collection, with think Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition will give you something nice to sink your fangs into.
We've got another update for you all, this time adding a heap of different fixes and updates to the game to make it a smoother experience for everyone!
We've rolled out a heap of logic and mechanical fixes, including:
Moving by using Eyes of the Hawk / Clockwork Owl has been fixed
Cancelling a burn action cancels properly now (It was incorrectly using either option to proceed)
Chanter type cards have been reworked to use the correct player order
Power Overwhelming now properly checks players have enough Spells when activated
Elixir of Life usability improved (sometimes it'd prompt people to use it when they actually couldn't, e.g. when someone else was losing a life)
Totem Warrior's ability has been fixed
Taking Spells from Arboreal Dragon is now optional
Barbarian can now replenish fate at the Crags, as he should!
Simurgh Feather no longer affects cards drawn by Ifrit Hoard
Legendary Goblin King stats have been fixed
Vengeful Guide was misbehaving when conscripted, we've made it behave itself now
Divine Priestess logic now matches the printed text
Snowdrifts no longer stop if the 'current player' dies
Hand in for trophy related warlock quests fixed
Warlock Quests that are completed immediately (when acquired) no longer prevent you from passing through the Portal of Power
Numerous AI loops and crashes fixed
We've also made some changes to the user interface:
Active cards area moved slightly
Base game 'token places' choices have been modified (e.g. 'Encounter' is now 'Gain 1 Strength')
Dice Bonuses are now more consistently display in combat when given in certain ways (e.g. things that increase your 'roll value')
'View Board' option added to several cards and spaces
Fireball now shows stat as modifier
All warlock quest cards use their full description in large text mode
And a few other fixes and changes too:
Chat filter less strict (in the last update it seemed to have gone overboard, so we've adjusted it)
Users with names that can't be displayed will display their Character name instead
Some of the new stats weren't triggering correctly - they should be now though!
If you spot any issues or have any feedback, feel free to reach out to us here on Steam! We're keeping an eye on the forums here for issues that come up, and we're always happy to hear from our fans.
Remember, stay safe, wash your hands and don't get turned into a toad! ːheartː
Our good friends over at Monster Couch have released their digital edition of Wingspan today, and we've teamed up with them to offer a special 10% discount for all Talisman: Digital Edition owners on top of their launch offer.
If you've not heard of it before, Wingspan is a relaxing strategy card game about birds for 1 to 5 players. Each beautiful bird that you add to your preserve makes you better at laying eggs, drawing cards, or gathering food. Many of the 170 unique birds have powers that echo real life: your hawks will hunt, your pelicans will fish, and your geese will form a flock.
We’ve just released the latest update for Talisman: Digital Edition!
UPDATE: We've noticed that the Leaderboards feature seems to be having some issues - we're working on a quick fix for this as we speak!
This update features a massive overhaul of how profiles work in Talisman, along with the introduction of Nomad Accounts - which replace and improves upon the Asmodee login system. It also adds avatars, new ranks and a whole heap of leaderboards and stats for you to enjoy. You can read more about what is included in this update over on our original announcement blog. Or head into the game to see the new features for yourself, and then let us know what you think!
As we’re releasing this update on all platforms at the same time, we’re also maintaining cross-platform play between all platforms. Last time we rolled out an update for Talisman: Digital Edition, we know that it made Nintendo Switch players unable to play with their friends on different platforms for a while - we’ve made sure that doesn’t happen again!
And of course, in this update we've included a massive heap of new bug fixes and other improvements including quality of life/functional improvements:
We've added a new house rule - you can adjust the default trophy trade-in values
There is now a new trophy trading helper/prompt (when trading) in the info box
New card backs for several decks
Astrologer & Street Sage now show correct card backs for their linked cards
Sky Screecher now uses your starting craft value instead of your current craft
Shiver Nymph and Ekor have been changed to 'when revealed' - no more chasing them around the board!
The One Talisman now discards instead of being ditched
We've changed how the Phoenix Potion works - it now prompts you much better
Ghosts no longer draw Path cards
Ghosts are no longer affected by Bog (terrain)
Ghosts can now move backwards in the city
Ghosts are unaffected by drunken revelry (you can't enjoy drinks if you're dead)
Several new tooltips have been added
Store navigation improved
Several endings changed to 'fully kill' players (they now skip turning you into a ghost)
We've added more details to existing tooltips to make them more useful
We've also fixed a whole heap of things we've spotted and that have been reported by the community:
Cataclysm Quests can now be completed properly
Cataclysm Places now behave as they should
Stables now use the correct prices for legendary cards
'Discard 2 followers' quest fixed (for humans and AI)
Cataclysm Treasure Chest wasn't giving correct rewards - they now do!
A crash caused by the Shopkeeper (denizen) has been fixed
Thief wasn't able to steal when there was a denizen on the village
Ancient Artefact bonus will now go to battle roll correctly
Drawing Wyrd Path via Faerie Trod wasn't putting a destiny on it
Stone of Lia Fal and Wyrd Path destiny issues fixed
Auspice can now be used properly
Reordered player initialisation
Kallind doesn't go to the inner region anymore
Deep Realm no longer turns itself off each launch
Several places were checking if players could 'gain' and not 'replenish' fate
Several abilities reworked with Crown of Command (CoC) restrictions
Teleports triggered whilst on CoC no longer work (e.g. You encountered a card last turn that teleports you this turn but you're now on the CoC)
Fixed issue with board appearing behind game setup
Fixed issue mimicking alignment when drawing tokens (The was causing issues with the Witch Hunter)
Fixed issue with several abilities not working when 'shape-shifted in to'
Fixed issue playing Battle music
Fixed board sounds playing after quitting
Several AI lockups fixed
If you notice anything that hasn't been fixed, we're probably still working on it! And if you notice something you think hasn't been reported yet, feel free to post it in the 'Bug Report' forum here on Steam. ːheartː

As many of you will already know, here at Nomad Games we specialise in bringing iconic and much-loved board games to life digitally. Our next title that will be landing on Steam is Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition, another classic Games Workshop board game that defined the social-deduction genre and has enthralled players for nearly 40 years with it's unique gothic horror atmosphere.
We've got a bit more to go before the game is ready, but we'll be ramping up all our efforts massively in the next few months.
If you're interested, please take a look at the Steam page for Fury of Dracula:
In order to cope with this flood of games onto the platform, those cool kids at Valve have been pushing the use of algorithms that decide what players want to see, and what is worth showing to you. One of the key ways that Valve decides what is worth showing is based on the number of players who wishlist that title.
As a tiny studio who make niche titles, it’s massively important to us that our audience sees our games amongst the flood of competing titles. By adding Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition to your wishlist, not only are you helping us reach you directly, you’re also helping other people find out about our game too.
Wishlist figures also help us get an idea of how we can expect a title to perform, and allow us to make much better decisions about our future. It’s a win-win!
Also, if you add Fury of Dracula: Digital Edition to your wishlist, we’ll think you’re really cool. And can you really put a price on that?
