Hey everyone! It’s SJ “NerdOfPrey” Mueller, Creative Director of DCUO, here to reveal all the juicy details for our newest episode and event, “DELUGE!”

Deluge is available as both an event for all players over level 10, AND as an end-game episode for our top players. This includes two Elite raids for the absolute best of the best!  This content will bring back Starro’s invasion as a permanent feature to the game, while also introducing all-new iconic Aquaman characters that take this story in an entirely new direction: the bottom of the sea!


Last year, Starro invaded Earth. The attack itself was blamed on the Atlanteans, but that wasn’t true at all! Or was it? The initial attack, which happened at an Atlantean Research Station (which you might remember from the raid, The Threat Below) was far more sinister than Aquaman realized.  It wasn’t just curiosity that lured the Atlantean researchers into experimenting on Starro – it was the work of Deluge, an Atlantean Insurrectionist Group determined to remove Arthur from the throne!

Now, Starro is back and the invasion is worse than ever, but the real story is what’s happening at Spindrift Station, the all-new Atlantean Embassy and pet project of Aquaman himself.


We have wanted to grow the “Aquaman Family” for years, and with Deluge, we got the chance. Mera, Black Manta, and Corum Rath are all new, permanent additions to the game. We’ve also got a new boss creature, and updated versions of both Aquaman himself and his half-brother, Ocean Master. Thrown in with the recently arriving Mera, and it’s raining amazing-looking characters in this episode!


In addition to all the cool locations from Starro’s previous appearance, we’ve added two new Atlantean areas! The solo story mission will take you on a journey that ends up in an ancient, proto-Atlantean temple where a great weapon was hidden away. And the finale takes place in one of the most impressive maps to date: Spindrift Station!

The station, as I described above, is an embassy to the Drylanders. The station is a beautiful representation of the finest Atlantean culture and their King’s commitment to cooperation and peace with the surface. Being a bridge between the two worlds, Spindrift has some rooms that are dry and some that are submerged below the surface. Some rooms can be quite puzzling, indeed. You’ll need a little help if you want to venture into one of those rooms.

And speaking of the surface, some changes have happened in Central City, so be sure to check it out and keep watching the skies…

Like I said, the whole Starro event is returning in a permanent way, and that means we have also gone back to refine the content based on player feedback last year and to add new end-game versions that previously did not exist. You’ll especially want to check out The Threat Below raid, with new mechanics, and a dangerous new Elite version.


Fighting the good fight can be very rewarding. With Deluge, we’re introducing two new gear suits. In the event, you can earn an underwater suit inspired by the “Drysuits” from Spindrift Station. The Enhanced version is ones of my favorites, with a marine-like camouflage pattern, the first time seen in DCUO! And what you’ve all been waiting (and begging for), the top gear, available on the vendor, is inspired by Mera herself! And it will look as amazing on you as it does on her.

In addition to those suits, there’s a new item of omnipotence to work towards, dozens of incredibly beautiful base items from the new environments, and all of the rewards previously available in the Starro event. As always, there are plenty of collections to complete and feats to earn.


Members and episode owners will receive extra treasure boxes at the end of all content, featuring an enhanced version of the Spindrift suit. Be sure to become a member or purchase the episode in order to get lots of extra goodies!

Oh, and one final thing: Members will also be granted a very valuable gift pack with the launch of Deluge! You won’t want to miss this one!

As all fans of THE FLASH know, the people of Central City have declared February 11 to be Flash Appreciation Day in honor of the Scarlet Speedster himself. This week is special in DC Universe Online, too, so we're going to celebrate with ALL of the following!

The original Speed-Force suit has been upgraded and reimagined as the Enhanced Speed-Force Spectrum 2018. Put it on, and you too can be and look like your fastest self. Love Conquers All for 2018 with new Base Items, Feats and Styles!

The Star Sapphires are again making an effort to rekindle the love lost in Gotham City. Mister Freeze knows what the Zamaron crystals are capable of and has hatched a plan to bring his wife Nora back by integrating their crystals into his cryogenic technology. This misuse of the crystals is extremely dangerous and could cause an exothermic reaction that would destroy the entire city!

Check the Events tab in the On Duty menu for “Love’s Battlefield” to aid the Star Sapphires (Heroes) or Mister Freeze (Villains). And be on the lookout for lovely new feats!

Open your Mission Journal and track “A Glowing Love” (Heroes) or “Cold Cold Heart” (Villains). Speak to Hal Jordan in the Gotham East End Police Station Safehouse (Heroes) or Mister Freeze in the Gotham North Burnley Nightclub Safehouse (Villains). While in the Safehouse, visit the terminal next to Hal Jordan or Mister Freeze to pick up a Daily Valentine’s Race mission “Get Your Heart Racing”. This mission can also be picked up at a terminal in Northeast Metropolis near Union Station. The seasonal missions can be completed daily during the event and reset with replay badges.

Also make sure to speak with Mera, who is spending Valentine’s Day on dryland apart from her dearest love. Open your Mission Journal and track “Sea of Love” to find her!

And don’t forget to visit the Valentine’s Vendor to get seasonal clothing, candies, and base items! A Valentine’s Vendor is located in the East End Safehouse (Heroes)/North Burnley Nightclub (Villains) and inside Mister Freeze’s Laboratory.

 
We’ve done some dramatic improvements to the Scorecard UI used throughout the game. This new and improved version of our scorecard features the following:

• New Summary Tab
• Improved Leaderboard Tab
• Improved Info Tab
• Two new tracked stats (Boss Damage Done & Teammates Rallied)

We’ve added a new “Auto-Sort” button to the Inventory menu, which when selected will re-organize all your Inventory items by Item Type!

The investigation will lead Mera and the bravest heroes and villains back to Central City to investigate, then deep beneath the sea to their first real glimpse into the underwater world of the Atlanteans and to the conflicts lurking in a divided kingdom.

NEW CELEBRATION: SUPERMAN'S 80TH ANNIVERSARY

80 years ago, in May of 1938, Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1. The world of comics would never be the same, and all of today's massive cast of heroes and villains owe their inspiration at least in part to the Man of Steel.

Over the years, there have been tremendous Superman storylines, but perhaps none stand out so clearly in our minds as his battle and death at the hands of Doomsday. For our part, DCUO will celebrate Superman's 80th anniversary with content: our retelling of the death of Superman.

Beginning in April, a series of content and player gifts will tell that story - in our world - and with our heroes and villains playing their parts. This isn't an episode or an event or a seasonal. This is a celebration, and we invite everyone to come along for the ride.

As every DCUO hero and villain will know, time and timelines can get all sorts of messed up when people and objects start travelling back and forth between them. Sometimes, though, everything just works out better than anyone could have expected. That's the case with the new Paradox Time Capsule, dropping in-game after restarts on January 10, 2018. This and all Time Capsules can be unlocked with Stabilizers. Stabilizers are earned in-game or purchased in the Marketplace.

The Paradox Time Capsule features world-bending styles and rewards from across the DC Universe. Each Paradox Time Capsule contains one sub-capsule (more on that below) and random items from a general list of rewards, including Quarks (Rewards from Time & Space vendor currency), Soder Cola Ultimates, R&D Exobytes, complex materials, collections, and the ultra-rare Kryptonite Aura you may recognize from Earth 3.

Inspired by the Red Death, one of the evil versions of Batman in the Dark Knights, from the Dark Multiverse, the Speed-Metal gear set is terrifying to behold.

You will note that, yes, the Red Death is a Speedster, created when one of the multiverse's more extreme versions of Batman and the Flash cosmically merged when entering the Speed Force. Spoiler Alert: that led to an incredibly twisted super villain, and also one of the most dramatic Batman and Flash costumes ever.

Take a careful look at the back style, especially if you are a Speedster yourself, and the Bat-tainted Speed Force energy whipping out behind you as you run.

Each gear piece has a chance to drop in each Speed-Metal Gear sub-capsule and, when consumed, will become level-appropriate to your character. If you want to trade them, make sure you do so BEFORE you attune them! Of course, every Speed-Metal style can be upgraded into an Enhanced version using recipes, for even more dark, red, metally energy. Enhanced styles are created using R&D recipes and the motes found in this Time Capsule. 

 



The story of DCUO began with Lex Luthor, from a ruined future, returning to unleash Exobytes, thus creating all of the new super heroes and villains who would be strong enough to face and defeat Brainiac. Those heroes and villains would then choose to align themselves into loose factions surrounding those interested in Tech, Magic, or Meta abilities.

In the Paradox Emblem Capsule, enjoy an array of emblems inspired by these choices and more. Collect them all for special feats, and remember each emblem can also be upgraded using motes into enhanced, emissive versions.  

 





In the Paradox Collector's Capsule, we have reached even farther back into the altered timelines of DC Universe Online's past...and maybe even the future. These collections work towards the new Forcefield Material, inspired by Brainiac and the buildings bottled during his assault on Gotham City and Metropolis, and towards the Anti-Matter Cache and the Exoskeleton Cache.

The Anti-Matter Cache includes the Enhanced Life Shell Gloves style and the Anti-Matter Aura - Hands, both inspired by the Anti-Monitor himself. The Exoskeleton Cache includes a helmet and gloves inspired by the original Exobytes that gave rise to all of our heroes and villains.
