We had a chat with Denipon about her life inside and outside of Path of Exile! If you're looking for a cozy stream to chill out in with friendly community members, Denipon should be your go to! Check out the interview below!

Hi Denipon, thank you for taking part in the interview! Please introduce yourself.
Thank you so much for inviting me! My name is Deni but, you might know me as denipon! I stream Path of Exile over on twitch.tv/denipon almost everyday!

When did you first get into Path of Exile?
It took me a few tries to really get into Path of Exile. My friend EZ1801 suggested that I give the game a try since D3 was getting a bit stagnant. I ended up so engrossed in the game that I accidentally streamed for 24 hours!

It still took some time before I fully got into Path of Exile, but I remember very happily cyclone-ing away during Legion.

What one thing caught your attention in the beginning and what one thing kept you coming back?
Even though I was shocked the first time I opened the passive tree, it really reminded me of the sphere grid in FFX. It was both intimidating and familiar at the same time. I figured if I was able to parse that out for several characters, I’d be able to figure out the skill tree in Path of Exile.

I keep coming back for all the new leagues. I love that there is always something new to look forward to in a few months.

Are there any highlights from your time playing Path of Exile that stand out in your memory?
I honestly feel like there are so many moments that will live in my memory from the last year.

Sentinel league I double corrupted a Headhunter and a Mageblood back to back!

Recently having my scuffed Divinia cosplay featured on the forums for the start of the league was amazing!

Also, this league finally finding something great in Ritual, has finally forced me to interact with the mechanic again xD

Do you have a favourite build?
My first truly non-zDPS was MoM CoC Ice Nova Scion. I’ll never forget her. Now, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m just looking for builds that are fun and archetypes I haven’t had a chance to try.

Which expansion has been your favourite so far?
I have to be honest, Forbidden Sanctum has been so much fun!

What's one thing every Path of Exile player should hear?
There are tons of ways to enjoy and play POE.

Please play for fun more, and not what is the “best” according to POB.

When did you first start streaming? How did you get into it?
I started my account almost around the time Justin.TV went offline. I had found out about it from going to fighting game tournaments back in the day. I loved the idea of playing games and getting to build a community that also loved and focused on these very niche things.

I would sign on from time to time and stream Retro games late at night hoping I’d find my people. Eventually, I started to stream and play Diablo 3 and really found a groove with my late night NA audience. After my friend encouraged me to play Path of Exile the rest has been history.

What can people expect from your stream and schedule?
I would say you can expect some good tunes, lots of laughs, and definitely some kitties! It’s a nice place for new players and veterans to all hang out. I haven’t really gotten into build making yet, so I feel like the most value I give to my community is a positive space to learn and help each other out. I’m on almost every day at the league start! My hours are a bit varied so it’s always best to check in my discord or on my Twitter to know exactly when I go live.

In the off season, I still go live as often but will throw in some variety: Apex, Tekken, Street Fighter, Soulsborne/like, city builders, and sims.

What were you doing before you started streaming?
I ended up taking a break from streaming around 2018. I had moved to a new apartment that ended up having awful options for my ISP, effectively forcing me to to take a break from streaming. During that time period I was working in Corpa America while going to school full-time as well.

I didn’t get to start streaming again until COVID happened. Like many others, I was eventually let go as businesses were shut down across the nation. Streaming became a way for me to connect with people and kindled the hope to be an entertainer.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of streaming?
Outside of streaming I really love to read (sci-fi and fantasy), crafting and working on cosplays, working on or sharing new music, and spending a lot of time with my two kitties, Apollo and Ozi.

How has your life changed from before you were streaming until now?
I had always had a difficult time finding the thing I was meant to do in life. I’ve tried a few different things, but streaming was always something that kept a pull on me. What could happen if I gave it a real committed effort?

Streaming has granted me more opportunities than I ever thought imaginable. I owe a lot to my community for believing in me and completely changing my life for the better. I really can’t explain how grateful I am that the space and things I create are appreciated.

Is there anything you'd like to see more of in the streaming community?
I really love the Path of Exile streaming community. It feels a bit unique in a way, I feel like there is a stream home/vibe for everyone.

Do you have any advice for people who are looking to make their own career out of streaming?
It can be long hours, and lots of planning, and hard work for very little returns in the beginning. Try not to compare yourself to other people and their journey, because everyone’s path is different. It will feel so rewarding when all the things you’ve been working on are finally getting a chance to shine. Be patient with yourself!

Are there any up and coming streamers that you'd like to shine a spotlight on?
Some of my favorite channels to watch or lurk in: Donk_aeden, SuitSizeSmall, Iiyra, Subtractem and Nizmat

Do you have any projects on the horizon you'd like to talk about?
I have some POE content plans for my Youtube soon! So definitely keep your peepers out for that.

Thank you so much GGG and Bex for inviting me to participate in this interview. It really means the world to me!!

Thank you so much for participating in the interview! If you'd like to follow Denipon, you can do so on Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch. Also, don't forget that you can support both Denipon and the development of Path of Exile by buying microtransactions from her Nexus page!

As you know, 2023 is a big year for Path of Exile with ExileCon coming up in July alongside the announcement of Path of Exile 2's beta date. We have a lot planned and are keen to share some key dates with you so that you can make your own plans!

Path of Exile's 3.21 Expansion
We are currently planning to launch our next Path of Exile expansion in early April. You may note that this means that The Forbidden Sanctum challenge league will be longer than normal. We are currently tinkering with a few ideas for some fun low-key things we can do in the final month before 3.21 launches and will let you know how those ideas shake out in the coming weeks.

We have chosen this date so that we can make sure 3.21 gets all the development time it needs and that our release schedule for the year fits nicely alongside ExileCon and release dates of other games.

Additionally, we are really happy with how well-received The Forbidden Sanctum expansion was and are hoping to keep the positivity rolling through 2023 with our upcoming releases. Having more development time really helps with that.

ExileCon
We announced last year that ExileCon will take place on July 29th-30th in Auckland, New Zealand. This convention will showcase everything you need to know about Path of Exile 2, Path of Exile Mobile and the Path of Exile 3.22 expansion. We have a lot to share with you!

Many of you have purchased your convention tickets and will be about to make your travel plans, which brings us to our next topic.

Path of Exile's 3.22 Expansion
If you're coming to ExileCon and wanting to do some travel within New Zealand around that time, we are generally recommending that people travel before the convention rather than afterwards. The reason for this is that we are currently planning to reveal our 3.22 expansion at ExileCon and its launch will take place soon after, likely around two weeks afterwards.

You'll be wanting to play 3.22, so it's best to leave New Zealand a few days after ExileCon. Then you'll have enough time to make it back home and take care of your responsibilities before going full goblin-mode at launch.

We've got a lot planned for this year in the leadup to Path of Exile 2. We can't wait to share it all with you!

By the end of this week, we'll be releasing the 3.20.2 patch on PC. This patch includes a number of bug fixes, offline party support and another batch of Voidborn reliquary submissions. Check out its patch notes in this news post.

Please note that these are still subject to change prior to the patch's deployment. The 3.20.2 update on consoles will be deployed as soon as possible after its release on PC.

3.20.2 Patch Notes

This patch includes a number of bug fixes, offline party support and another batch of Voidborn reliquary submissions.

Improvements and updates

  • Added support for party members to go offline while staying in the party. When you log out, you can now stay in your party, though you can still be kicked from the party while offline. After you've been offline for 2 minutes, you will be automatically kicked from the party.
  • Added "Kick from Party" back to the options available when right-clicking another player's message in chat.
  • Added 845 more foiled Unique Item options the Voidborn Reliquary can yield.
  • Added an area description for the "twice blessed" Darkshrine outcome.
  • The "Sacrifice a Corrupted Map. Create a new Corrupted Map of the same tier and rarity." Harvest crafting option now requires a Rare Corrupted Map to be sacrificed, and is no longer able to incorrectly create a new Corrupted Map of a higher tier.
  • Some Sanctum monsters can now be Spectred, and Spectred versions of Stalking Geist will now be able to attack enemies. Lowered the resistances and maximum attack distance of the Spectred version of Igneous Gargoyle.
  • It is now possible to view your Voidborn Reliquary submission on the website, and withdraw it if it has not yet been confirmed.
  • Updated the description of the Corrupted Gaze Atlas Notable Passive to clarify that it only applies to Abyss Jewels dropped by Abyssal Troves in your Maps.
  • Updated descriptions for skills which grant critical strike chance through a buff, such as Precision and Aspect of the Cat.
  • Updated the description on Galvanic Field when supported by Increased Critical Strike Chance to be more clear.
  • Updated the targeting behaviour for Whirling Blades in Controller Input mode to target monsters rather than location.
  • The Solar Map Device microtransaction now has variations that can be scrolled through to set the maximum tier of effects to play while map portals are open.
Ruthless-specific changes

  • Fixed a bug where the Antagonist's modifier on Heist Contracts and Blueprints was not providing any stats in Ruthless.
  • Fixed a bug where certain Minion Delve Encounters were not giving any rewards in Ruthless.
Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug where being affected by a Shrine from Kirac's Memory of the Pantheon was not providing credit towards the Complete Beyond Encounters Challenge when you defeated a Beyond Boss.
  • Fixed a bug where the order of spells triggered through Arcanist Brand could be reset by using a Flask.
  • Fixed a bug where killing Breach Bosses in Maps was not providing credit towards the Terror Tearing at the Seams Challenge.
  • Fixed a bug in Legion Encounters where the timer for breaking out monsters could end prematurely.
  • Fixed a bug where Blazing Salvo's explode effects did not display correctly across different terrain elevations.
  • Fixed a client crash that could occur with Vaal Volcanic Fissure Earthbreaker Totems.
  • Fixed a bug where the Fiendish Wings Affliction was affecting the rotation speed of the firebeam hazard.
  • Fixed a bug where Rogue Exiles with additional rewards from the Rogue Trader Atlas Notable Passive would be displayed with a quest icon on the minimap.
  • Fixed a bug where soul gain prevention was sometimes not applied after using Vaal Blade Flurry.
  • Fixed a bug where duplicated Harvest monsters could not drop lifeforce.
  • Fixed a bug where Fractured modifiers on Jewels, Maps, or Heist Contracts could be changed when corrupting the item.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Delve Flares and Dynamite to be returned to you with the Nimis Unique Ring equipped.
  • Fixed a rare bug where Glyphic Fossilised Remains could be moved, causing the Time-Lost Cavern Delve encounter to be incompletable.
  • Fixed a bug where Keystone Passive Skill reminder text was missing when the Keystone was granted through an item, such as Replica Perfect Form.
  • Updated various Heist Enchantment descriptions to clarify they apply to Explicit modifiers.
  • The Ambushes monster modifier can no longer be found on Magic Monsters, as it had no effect on them.
  • Fixed an issue where increases and reductions to projectile speed had no effect on Volcanic Fissure. It now affects the speed of the molten projectiles.
  • Fixed a bug where the "Spawn Metamorph Vial" button was displayed when returning to an area where available Metamorphs were already defeated.
  • Fixed a bug where additional Cluster Jewels dropped from having the Paranoid Fixation Atlas Passive allocated were dropping with the wrong item level.
  • Fixed a bug where Spell Critical Strike Chance gained through Frost Shield was not working correctly with Sandstorm Visage.
  • Fixed a bug where Mirage Archer was not working with Rain of Arrows triggered by Lioneye's Paws.
  • Fixed an issue where Vaal Glacial Hammer had "60% of Physical Damage Converted to Cold". It has been updated to 100% to match the non-Vaal Glacial Hammer.
  • Fixed a bug where Tempering Orb could not be used on items with fixed sockets.
  • Fixed a bug where Olroth, Origin of the Fall could become unresponsive under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Uber Maven to fail to transition phases, making them unkillable.
  • Fixed an issue where Ancestor Totems did not display their name or what they provide when hovering over the buff icon.
  • Fixed the Ritual and Infernal Summon Ring microtransactions having their models switched.
  • Fixed a bug where importing a Hideout layout with a Scourge Hideout Decoration would fail to place decorations across both planes of existence.
  • Fixed a wonky interaction between the Ice Crown microtransaction and the Cat's Stealth buff visual effect.
  • Fixed an issue where the Prospero's Ring microtransaction was missing audio when trading with other players.
  • Fixed a bug that caused characters to appear bald when wearing the Forgeguard Body Armour and specific Helmet Attachment microtransactions.
  • Fixed a bug where other players were unable to view gems you had socketed when wearing the Gemling Artificer Body Armour microtransaction.

In an upcoming patch, we'll be adding support for party members to go offline while staying in the party. Check out what we've got cooking up below:

When you log out, you can now stay in your party, though you can still be kicked from the party while offline.

After you've been offline for 2 minutes, you will be automatically kicked from the party. The amount of time is subject to change.

Offline party members will show the last known character that was online, and once logged back in, they will still be in the party as expected unless they switched character. If you had any pending invites before you went offline, they will still be present once you log back into the game.

As a reminder, we've also made the following changes in 3.20 that are already live:
  • We've fixed the party invite notification to always show the player that sent the invite, rather than showing the party leader.
  • We've updated the notifications to display more accurate information, such as if you were kicked from the party or if the party was disbanded.
  • The context menu (the menu that pops up when you right click a player) has also been slightly cleaned up so that buttons shown are dependent on the player's location, online/offline status and from where you accessed the context menu.
...
