Legion was a very well-received league. In addition to receiving an abundance of positive feedback from players, and engagement with the league's content continues to be high.

As Legion's primary goals are focused on the encounters and the end-game area, it is reasonably straightforward to integrate into the core game.

We are adding Legion encounters as map content with a 10% chance to occur (similar to Breach or Abyss). Only one Timeless Monolith can occur from this chance, however there may be additional ones in an area from other sources.

We've decided to leave it out of the campaign content (pre-map levelling) as the campaign is already very busy and this content would be a lot to stack on top.

Handily, the Legion mechanic was one that could be comfortably integrated into existing game elements almost immediately, rather than requiring a lot of extra work. Thus, Legion can also be accessed through the following sources:
  • Sextant Affixes
  • Legion Scarabs
  • Delve
  • As a room in the Temple of Atzoatl
In Betrayal Safehouses, Vagan will give rewards based on Legion, including Legion Scarabs and Timeless Splinters. You'll also find Legion rewards in chests hidden behind walls in the Azurite Mine.

We also plan to add a Zana mod for Legion encounters at the Map Device in future releases (but not for 3.8.0).

In Legion we experimented with end game content that could be played endlessly. Players responded very positively to being able to play the Domain of Timeless Conflict content indefinitely if their build was capable of doing so. This will remain when Legion is added to the core game.

We will, however, be adding a diminishing return for rewards from monsters from the encounter. The intent here is to normalise rewards somewhat, so that every player experiencing this content gets good rewards, and character power doesn't have as significant an impact on how valuable Domain of Timeless Conflict encounters are.

To that end, we have increased the rewards for the first cycle of monsters, reducing them each revive cycle. Rewards from Legion Generals will not diminish, but the rewards from other monsters will diminish. We will not be adding a diminishing return for experience gained from the ongoing encounters.

The basic Legion chest and encounter rewards will largely be the same. Breach rewards will give fewer Breachstones, in part because they were a little too common, but also to keep these two sets of special map encounters separate. We want most of your Breach splinters to come from Breach!

Additional Incubators have been added, increasing the variety of rewards they can offer.

We enjoyed making Legion. Thank you all for playing and making the Path of Exile community so vibrant. We look forward to showing you the upcoming league in a couple of days.

The fourth and final ExileCon Qualifier Event starts this Saturday, August 17th, at 2pm (PDT). Players will compete in a Standard Solo-Self Found environment to be the first to kill Kitava in Act Five. There will be a death penalty - if you die, you'll not be able to move or do anything with your character for 60 seconds. You also won't be able to select 'Revive at Checkpoint'. The event is fixed seed, so every racer is contending with the same layout but the minimap won't be revealed. We've also made this event voided, which means your characters and their items won't be transferred to Standard League at the end of the event.

The winner of this event will receive a VIP ExileCon package and an opportunity to compete with tie23he, dsfarblarwaggle and Leaf in the ExileCon race finale. The top five kill times will be awarded with a microtransaction package.

Registration opens 30 minutes before the event begins and everyone is welcome to participate! You can register for the event by clicking the 'Join' button under the character selection screen.

In addition, we're holding the Super Stash Sale where we're discounting each type of Stash Tabs! Everything has been discounted, including the Unique Collection Tab, Fragment Tab, Map Tab, Premium Stash Tab Bundles, Premium Quad Stash Tab, Essence Tab, Divination Tab, Currency Tab and Guild Stash Tabs! Press M in game to view the full selection of discounted stash tabs.

The sale runs all weekend and ends at 9PM August 19th (PDT) If you need some extra points, we recommend checking out the Legion Supporter Packs, before they leave the store next week. Thank you for your support!

If you're unable to join the ExileCon Qualifier Event but don't want to miss all the action, be sure to tune in to our official channel at twitch.tv/pathofexile! Have a nice weekend and best of luck to our racers!

There are just over three months left until ExileCon, the Path of Exile convention we're holding in Auckland, New Zealand. We plan to kick off the convention with a keynote announcing both December's 3.9.0 expansion and the future 4.0.0 mega-expansion. Attendees will be able to play demos of both announced expansions, watch talks given by GGG developers, meet their favourite streamers and invited guests, buy Path of Exile merchandise, and celebrate Path of Exile with over a thousand other community members.

Today we're excited to announce the star-studded lineup of past and present Path of Exile Streamers and content creators attending the convention, including Kripparrian, NeverSink, Engineering Eternity, Quin69, Rhykker, Zizaran, Mathil, Raiz, Nugiyen, Havoc, Tarkecat, ZiggyD and Amie. Also attending ExileCon are many other invited guests, such as David Brevik, Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer and even a few Path of Exile voice actors.

On the 17th of August, we're running the fourth and final ExileCon Qualifier Race. Its winner will compete at the Race Finale on stage at ExileCon. For more information about this qualifier, check out this page.

There are still a few hundred tickets to ExileCon available if you're keen to join us. Check out the ExileCon site here to find out more information about the event and to purchase tickets.

An important new piece of information for attendees is that New Zealand has just introduced a system where you must apply for an "NZeTA" online before arriving in the country. As far as we can see, almost all ExileCon visitors from overseas must apply for one. We recommend doing this as soon as possible. Thankfully, the process does not look difficult. Full details and the application form are on this page.

Whether or not you're able to attend the convention, we'll be livestreaming ExileCon's keynote presentation, so mark your calendars and prepare for some big announcements! We can't wait to share with you what we've been working on.

We're currently in the ninth week of the Legion League and it's a good time to check it with our statistics!

Looking at Unique Items at all levels, we can see that Tabula Rasa is (unsurprisingly) the most used Unique Item. This is likely a result of its usefulness while leveling as well as being fairly cheap and easy to obtain. Continuing down the list, we can see Spreading Rot, making a showing thanks to the power of Essence Drain and Contagion in Legion encounters. The rest of the uniques here are generic leveling uniques, though quite a few of them are attack-based uniques. Warlord's Reach makes a showing; likely due to it being a quest reward and the high amount of players leveling with attack builds.

Top 10 Uniques (All levels)
  • Tabula Rasa
  • Spreading Rot
  • Blackheart
  • Wanderlust
  • Karui Ward
  • Wurm's Molt
  • Goldrim
  • Warlord's Reach
  • Belt of the Deceiver
  • Daresso's Salute
As we move into early maps, we see that Tabula Rasa and Spreading Rot hold strong in popularity. We're not quite at the point where players have the currency to replace a Tabula just yet. Atziri's Promise makes a showing now, likely because it requires level 68 to use and it is an all-around good flask. Lion's Roar jumps into the fray suddenly - but why? It's likely because of the higher cost of the flask relative to most of the unique items we've previously looked at. The two main surprises here are both The Overflowing Chalice and Rotgut.

Top 10 Uniques - Level 70+
  • Tabula Rasa
  • Spreading Rot
  • Atziri's Promise
  • Lion's Roar
  • Daresso's Salute
  • Warlord's Reach
  • Belt of the Deceiver
  • Starkonja's Head
  • The Overflowing Chalice
  • Rotgut
As characters reach level 90, we start to see the most used uniques consisting of high power uniques, some of which are unaffordable at lower levels (generally). New top-tens here include Lethal Pride, Devoto's Devotion (because Movement Speed) and Belly of the Beast. Lethal Pride just never has downsides, so its popularity isn't much of a surprise. Belly of the Beast is a fairly affordable body armour that offers great defenses, so seeing it show up just inside the top ten is somewhat expected.

Top 10 Uniques - Level 90+
  • Lion's Roar
  • Spreading Rot
  • Atziri's Promise
  • Daresso's Salute
  • Lethal Pride
  • Starkonja's Head
  • Tabula Rasa
  • Devoto's Devotion
  • Belt of the Deceiver
  • Belly of the Beast
Looking at maps run, we can see Glacier at the top. Thanks to Legion encounters wanting as much open space as possible, Glacier has become a very popular map, especially for players that are focussing on farming Legions as quickly as possible. Alleyways is just behind, likely because of its valuable Divination Card drop; The Saint's Treasure. Burial Chambers still remains fairly popular, thanks to The Doctor and the extremely high value of Headhunter.

Top Ten Maps by Number Run
  • Glacier
  • Alleyways
  • Burial Chambers
  • Desert
  • Arid Lake
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Armoury
  • Ivory Temple
  • Thicket
  • Ashen Wood
Top Five White Maps
  • Glacier
  • Alleyways
  • Burial Chambers
  • Desert
  • Arid Lake
Top Five Yellow Maps
  • Atoll
  • Primordial Pool
  • Mud Geyser
  • Spider Forest
  • Promenade
Top Five Red Maps
  • Caldera
  • Acid Caverns
  • Summit
  • Lair
  • Desert Spring
As for areas with the highest amounts of deaths, Glacier is likely at the top just because of the sheer amount of times it has been run. The boss is fairly straightforward, but Legions are dangerous. Combine dangerous Legion encounters with fairly low-life characters and you've got a recipe for death. Kitava (in The Feeding Trough) continues to claim many victims. The Azurite Mine includes all areas within Delve, and with the ability to push to content that is as difficult as you can handle, it isn't too surprising to see plenty of deaths here.

Top Ten Areas by Deaths
  • Glacier
  • The Feeding Trough
  • Azurite Mine
  • Desert
  • Alleyways
  • Ivory Temple
  • The Chamber of Innocence
  • The Blood Aqueduct
  • Burial Chambers
  • City Square
Overall, while some of these statistics are expected, it's been a very interesting league to watch play out. Legions have affected quite a bit; Glacier being the most run map and Essence Drain's renewed popularity being the two most noteworthy results. How will we see these statistics change by this time in the next league? We'll just have to wait and find out!

By the way, due to popular request, we've also decided to make this a fixed seed event! This means that every racer is contending with the same layout but the minimap won't be revealed.

These racers will receive a bundle that includes the Wasteland Warrior Armour Pack, Glowing Red Eyes, Reptilian Wings, Gloom Herald, Blood Guard Character Effect, Blood Guard Weapon Effect, Blood Guard Footprints, Two-Legged Goat Pet and the Vaal Viper Portal.

The final month of the Legion League has begun, which means there are only a few weeks left until the announcement of our next expansion. As you know, when the announcement goes live, we will be introducing a new set of league supporter packs and the current Legion ones will leave the store forever. There are two pairs of Legion Supporter Packs available in the store, the Cult of Darkness and the Blood Knight. Each of the two pairs is designed in a unique style and has different contents, so you can choose whichever one you prefer (or both). If you're interested in getting one of the Legion Supporter Packs but you're not sure you'll be able to do so in time, we'd recommend setting up a payment plan which can reserve a pack for you for up to three months after the commencement of your plan. Just email us in advance at support@grindinggear.com, we'll be happy to help you!

Additionally, if you have purchased any plain points packs since May 20th (PDT), you can use this in an upgrade to one of the Legion Supporter Packs! You can credit up to 80% of the value of your desired supporter pack towards an upgrade. For example, if you purchased a $10 point pack you could then upgrade to the Cult of Darkness or Blood Knight Supporter Pack for $20. You'd then receive the remainder of the contents of the pack, excluding the points you already purchased before the upgrade.
