War Thunder - Blitzkrieg Wulf

Welcome to War Thunder’s first event of 2025! January 29th marks the Lunar New Year, and this year it’s the Year of the Snake! Celebrate it in this event, which features themed decals, a decoration and a camouflage for the new and obtainable British FV4030/3 Shir 2 medium tank.

From January 17th (11:00 GMT) until February 4th (11:00 GMT), earn mission points in Ground Battles, unlock stages and receive rewards!

FV4030/3 Shir 2 — An Event Vehicle Medium Tank for Great Britain at Rank VI
The FV4030/3 Shir 2 is a modified and modernized Chieftain, designed in Great Britain to meet the needs of Iran. Featuring a 1,200 HP engine, the FV4030/3 can reach speeds of up to 56 km/h and can fire the L23 APFSDS round from its 120 mm gun. Additionally with a laser rangefinder, this tank is good for long-range engagements!

Among the rewards in the event is also this chest. When opened, there is a chance to receive one of the following items:
  • 50,000 - 100,000 Silver Lions
  • Silver Lion and Research Point boosters
  • Random Wagers and Orders
  • Universal Backups (1 - 3)
  • A random camouflage for a vehicle you own
  • 1 day of Premium Account

How to get all rewards
Each stage can be obtained for 45,000 mission points, where every new stage obtained will give you a new reward.

Please note: After finishing a stage, you need to collect the reward manually. To do this, click on your name in-game, go to “Enter the Serpent” and click the “Get Reward” button.

You’re able to earn mission points in Ground Battles at Rank III or above in Arcade, Realistic and Simulator Battles. The number of mission points to complete a stage depends on the game mode and the maximum Rank of the vehicle that you use in battle. There’s a multiplier for earning mission points, which is shown in the task description in-game.

You can also earn mission points by using event vehicles that are Rank I and II. Event vehicles that can be used have the name of the event that they were obtainable in on their stat card.

Stages change every two days at 11:00 GMT on January 19th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, 31st and February 2nd.

Rewards are given when you complete a specific number of stages
  • For 1 Stage: trophy with a random reward
  • For 2 Stages: one of the decal rewards
  • For 3 Stages: trophy with a random reward
  • For 4 Stages: one of the decal rewards
  • For 5 Stages: trophy with a random reward
  • For 6 Stages: the “Ouroboros” decoration
  • For 7 Stages: trophy with a random reward
  • For 8 Stages: non-tradable coupon for the FV4030/3
  • For 9 Stages: a unique camouflage and 4 random modifications for the FV4030/3
Please note: You can only receive the modifications if the FV4030/3 is activated on your account.

Discounts on purchasing stages using Golden Eagles
Unfinished stages can be purchased for Golden Eagles, but if you’re significantly close to completing a stage, its price will now be significantly reduced.

Let’s say you have earned 85% of the required mission points to complete a stage, then the price of purchasing this stage will be halved. If you’re near the finish line for a stage and are at 95% progress, then the price will be reduced by five times. For example, if you’ve scored 39,000 mission points, then the price for unlocking this stage will be 499 Golden Eagles. If you’ve scored 43,000 mission points, then you’ll only need to pay 199 Golden Eagles. Remember to keep this in mind if you cannot complete a stage on time!

The Upgrade for coupon
When you complete 8 stages, you’ll receive a non-tradable coupon for the FV4030/3, where using it will immediately activate the vehicle onto your account. If you don’t want the vehicle and would like to sell the coupon on the Market, you’ll need the “Upgrade for coupon” item.

The “Upgrade for coupon” item can be earned in parallel with the stages throughout the event from January 17th (11:00 GMT) until February 4th (11:00 GMT) for 750,000 mission points.

After receiving the “Upgrade for coupon” item, you can convert a non-tradable coupon for the vehicle into a tradable one and sell it on the Market. The tradable coupon can be sold after 6 days from the moment it’s created.

To make a tradable coupon, select the “Coupon FV4030/3 (Great Britain)” in your inventory and click the “Modify” button.

The “Upgrade for coupon” item is valid until 11:00 GMT on February 7th. Until this time, you can use it or exchange it for War Bonds. Afterwards, it’ll disappear from your inventory.

You can track the progress of completing stages and receiving the “Upgrade for coupon” by clicking on your Nickname > Achievements > Enter the Serpent. If you don’t manage to complete a stage on time or would like to purchase a stage, until February 7th from the Achievements window, you can purchase each stage with Golden Eagles which will give you the corresponding rewards.

    Vasily Antonovich Matsievich
Vasily Antonovich Matsievich was an ace pilot who fought in World War II from 1941. The fighter squadron he commanded defended besieged Leningrad from enemy raids and carried out assault raids on Wehrmacht positions. Soon after the siege of Leningrad was lifted, Matsievich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his courage.

You can immediately purchase this profile icon for Golden Eagles until February 3rd, 11:30 GMT without completing tasks. To find it, go to your Nickname → Achievements → Pages of History.

    Trophy reward for each task

Completing each individual task will give you a trophy with one of the following rewards:
    • 20-50% RP booster for 3-10 battles;
    • 20-50% SL booster for 3-10 battles;
    • 3-5 universal backups;
    • Premium account for 1 day;
    • A random camouflage for ground vehicles (out of the selection of camouflages currently obtainable in game for completing tasks, or purchasing with Golden Eagles).

    Other terms
    • Tasks are available from 11:00 GMT until 11:30 GMT on the final day of each task.
    • Tasks can be completed in random battles except for “Assault” mode.

    January 1st — January 4th
    Operation Bodenplatte
On January 1st 1945, German aircraft launched a massive attack on Allied airfields in the Netherlands, hoping to gain air superiority to support the Ardennes counteroffensive. They managed to destroy almost 500 Allied aircraft, but the losses among pilots were minimal, since the attack was sudden and the aircraft were on the ground. The Allies quickly replenished the lost equipment, but the Luftwaffe was unable to recover from the losses in personnel — this was their last strategic operation.

    January 4th — January 7th
    Operation Nasr
The largest tank battle of the Iran-Iraq War took place from January 5th to 9th 1981. The Iraqis knew that the Iranians were coming and prepared well, burying their tanks up to the turrets. They often practiced this tactic because they were not skilled enough to maneuver in combat, but in this case the swampy terrain played into their hands. The Iranians were ambushed, attacked from the front and flanks — they tried unsuccessfully to break through, then began to maneuver and got stuck in the mud. Operation Nasr, designed to liberate cities in southwestern Iran, completely failed, causing hundreds of vehicles to be lost.

    January 8th — January 11th
    Battle for Luzon
On January 9th 1945, the Battle of Luzon, the largest island of the Philippine archipelago, began. It lasted until the very end of the war, although the Americans and Filipinos managed to recapture most of the island by March. At the beginning of the battle, 175,000 American soldiers landed on the island, although the landing operation was hampered by attacks from kamikaze pilots. In late January and early February, the island saw the largest tank battle in the Pacific theater.

    January 12th — January 15th
    Operation Blackcock
This little-known operation, named after a type of grouse, took place from 13th to 27th January 1945 on the border between the Netherlands and Germany. Having won the Ardennes, the Allies began to advance towards Germany, and in the “Roermond Triangle” between the Ruhr, Wurm and Maas rivers, British forces encountered three lines of German defense. However, the Germans were outnumbered and lacked air support, so their defeat was only a matter of time. Operation Blackcock had been fully achieved.

    January 16th — January 19th
    Breaking the Blockade of Leningrad
On January 18th 1943, the Red Army broke the blockade of Leningrad, which had been going on since September 1941, as part of Operation Iskra. Although the corridor controlled by the USSR was initially only 8-11 km wide, a highway and a railway were built in the shortest possible time to provide the city with everything it needed and to evacuate people. The Red Army was unable to continue its success, as it was only a year later that the enemy was completely driven away from Leningrad.

    January 20th — January 23rd
    Battle of Anzio
In December 1943, Allied forces in Italy were stopped by the Gustav Line. In order to bypass the Axis fortifications from the flanks, the Allies carried out an amphibious operation, landing on January 22nd 1944 at Anzio. American General John Lucas, who commanded the operation, did not believe in its success and, instead of using the element of surprise to attack the German from behind, began to fortify himself in the Anzio and Nettuno area. Field Marshal Kesselring transferred all available troops to this area, flooded the Pontine Marshes and pinned the Allies down with continuous artillery fire. A month later, General Lucas was removed from command, and the Battle of Anzio ultimately lasted until June.

    January 24th — January 27th
    Heiligenbeil Pocket
On January 26th 1945, the 4th Army of the Wehrmacht made a final attempt to break out of the encirclement near Heiligenbeil in East Prussia (now Mamonovo in the Kaliningrad region). The attempt ended in failure, as on January 30th, the ring of Soviet troops closed, and the Germans could only hold their positions and evacuate civilians across the Baltic Sea (the high command forbade the evacuation of the military). On March 29th, the pocket was liquidated.

    January 28th — January 31st
    Battle of Khafji
Throughout the second half of January 1991, the international coalition effectively attacked Iraq from the air. Saddam Hussein wanted to engage his opponents in ground battles, where the Iraqi army had more experience due to the recently concluded Iran-Iraq War. On January 29th 100 Iraqi tanks crossed the border between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to attack the forces of the international coalition and take the city of Ras al-Khafji. The city’s population had been evacuated in advance. Throughout January 30th, the Iraqis managed to defend the city, but on February 1st they were forced to retreat. This battle demonstrated the importance of air support in modern warfare.

    Dec 26, 2024
    War Thunder - Blitzkrieg Wulf

Welcome to the 100th edition of “It’s fixed!” Today, we’ll be going over the bug fixes and improvements that we’ve made to the game since the release of the Storm Warning update. Let’s take a look!

If you’ve found a bug that you’d like to report, you can do so on our community bug reporting platform.

    Better profile customization

We keep expanding your profile customization options. Now you can choose a player icon frame and a profile backgound, and there’s also a number of backgrounds and frames available for all players.

Profile showcases have received a number of fixes and improvements since their recent launch. Now all UI elements fit into the screen at “Medium” and “Large” interface scale. In the “Favorite vehicle” showcase, vehicle search by name now works. Searching for your favorite vehicle is now easier thanks to the option to sort the vehicle list by the number of respawns.

We’ve also fixed a number of errors related to showcase editor. One of them closed the editor without saving if you clicked on a showcase, another prevented the editor from launching, and the third one made the Esc key to close the entire profile menu instead of the editor.

    Ground Vehicle sight settings
Several bugs have been fixed relating to the ground vehicle sight settings menu. Reloading the sight caused the color values in the “Rangefinder” section and options’ values in the “Bullet Type” section to reset. Additionally, the settings in the “Bullet Type” section contained two black color options.

Thank you for reports that helped us find and fix these errors faster!

    Falling mines

We’ve discovered erratic behavior in mines dropped from aircraft: when observed from a naval vessel, they fell at an irregular speed, slowing down as they approached the water surface. At the same time, the aircraft that dropped the mine observed no issues. Now their points of view are in sync and correct.

    Large caliber artillery

In the Storm Warning update we added a large caliber howitzer PzH 2000 to the game (two variants). It required a number of fixes: in the the armor of the hull sides, in the shapes and locations of internal modules, and in the folding animation of the shield plate. As part of its fixes we’ve added an autoloader module to the PzH 2000, and also Sholef and PzH 2000 have received the first-stage ammo stowage mechanic.

    That’s not all
You’ll find the full list of improvements in separate patchnotes. Target markers no longer appear outside of boundaries of the radar indicator when in TWS mode, and torpedo trails appear properly at the low setting of water effects quality.

    Today's update: Update 2.43.0.38

    Aircraft
    • JAS39A — a bug that caused HMD to overlap with HUD has been fixed.
    • F-2000A, Typhoon FGR.4 — a bug with IRST search pattern that sometimes caused the IRST to not see a target has been fixed. (Report).
    Ground Vehicles
    • PzH 2000 (all variants) — autoloader module has been added. The bug which caused the vehicle to drown in shallow water has been fixed.
    • ADATS (all variants) — maximum single-plane overload of MIM-146 missile has been increased to 42G (60G dual-plane). (Report).
    • RDF/LT — the engine sound has been changed from gas turbine to a diesel one. (Report).
    Naval Vessels
    • A bug that sometimes caused the scout hydroplane to be invulnerable has been fixed. (Report).
    • Ersatz Yorck — armor scheme has been corrected: armored decks, transverse bulkheads, casemate armor, barbettes and other elements have been reconfigured and the correct thicknesses and types of armor have been assigned.
