War Thunder - War Thunder Commander

Dupleix was the fourth Suffren-class heavy cruiser in service with the French Navy. It was laid down in the fall of 1929 and put into service on May 1st 1932. At the beginning of World War II, Dupleix served near Dakar, hunting German ships and in June 1940 took part in the attack on Genoa and Vado Ligure. In November 1942, Dupleix was scuttled to avoid capture by the Germans.

Dupleix is available for Golden Eagles and is here to stay!
This heavy cruiser is available for 6,090 Golden Eagles.

When: From May 1st (11:00 GMT).
Where: France > Bluewater fleet > Premium vehicles.

About this heavy cruiser
  • Dupleix boasts enhanced armor that can protect important modules from high-explosive and semi-armor-piercing shells. In terms of weapons, this heavy cruiser is a true all-rounder. This is thanks to its powerful 203 mm main caliber guns, 4 x twin 90 mm mounts, torpedoes and a reconnaissance aircraft. Use this wide arsenal to emerge victorious in a wide variety of combat situations!

Semyon Sorokin
In the final stage of the War in Europe, the hoisting of the red flag over the Reichstag became a matter of Soviet national prestige. However, the building was turned into a fortress, which was defended by hundreds of Germans. On April 30th, 1945, under the cover of artillery, a detachment led by Lieutenant Semyon Sorokin broke into the building, captured one of the exits from the basements where the Germans were hiding from shelling, and quickly made their way to the roof, where they were the first to hoist the Victory Banner. For his courage, Sorokin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

You can immediately purchase this profile icon for Golden Eagles until June 3rd, 11:30 GMT without completing tasks. To find it, go to your Nickname → Achievements → Pages of History.

Trophy reward for each task

Completing each individual task will give you a trophy with one of the following rewards:
  • 20-50% RP booster for 3-10 battles;
  • 20-50% SL booster for 3-10 battles;
  • 3-5 universal backups;
  • Premium account for 1 day;
  • A random camouflage for ground vehicles (out of the selection of camouflages currently obtainable in game for completing tasks, or purchasing with Golden Eagles).

Other terms
  • Tasks are available from 11:00 GMT until 11:30 GMT on the final day of each task.
  • Tasks can be completed in random battles except for “Assault” mode.

You can read a detailed description of which task is for which day and your overall progress by going to your Nickname → Achievements → Pages of History.

May 1st — May 4th
Operation Oboe
On May 1st, 1945, the battle for Tarakan Island, located near Borneo, began: oil production was live there, and the Allies planned to use it as a springboard for further air operations. Within a week, the Allies reached the city of Tarakan, the largest in the region, and a week later they captured it. The remnants of Japanese forces on the island continued to resist until mid-June.

May 4th — May 7th
Battle of Madagascar
After Japan's successful forays into the Indian Ocean, Britain began to fear the appearance of a Japanese military base in Madagascar, which at that time was controlled by the Axis-controlled Vichy regime. On May 5th, 1942, British troops landed on the island, but failed in a frontal attack on the Vichy positions, and the battle dragged on until November.

May 7th — May 10th
The end of the World War II in Europe
Germany waged full scale war in Europe, and its surrender ended it. The whole world rejoiced: the sky bloomed with fireworks, the people celebrated, and soldiers marched, not to battle, but in honor of a great Victory!

May 10th — May 13th
Operation Diadem
In May of 1944, Allied and Axis forces clashed in the final battle of Monte Cassino. The Gustav Line proved to be Germany's most resilient line of defense in central Italy: it held out for more than six months, and only after the success of Operation Diadem were the Allies able to advance on Rome.

May 13th — May 17th
The end of the Tunisian campaign
By May 1943, Axis forces in North Africa were surrounded in Tunisia and deprived of supplies and the ability to evacuate. Hitler's decision to throw more forces into the North African front led to the fact that on May 13th, up to 300 thousand Italian and German soldiers were captured by the Allies.

May 18th — May 22nd
Battle of Crete
From May 20th to May 31st, 1941, the battle for the island of Crete took place. It began with a German landing supported by the Italian navy and air force. This was the first major airborne operation in history, and despite heavy losses for the Germans, it ended in success: the Greek forces and the British garrison were destroyed.

May 23rd — May 26th
The Senger Line
The network of German fortifications in Italy following the Gustav Line was originally called the Hitler Line, but the Fuhrer personally ordered it to be renamed shortly before its fall to avoid reputational losses. And indeed: it took the Allies only four days after breaking through the Gustav Line to overcome the Senger Line.

May 27th — May 31st
First flight of the F-4 Phantom II
The F-4 Phantom II supersonic two-seat fighter, developed by McDonnell Douglas, first took to the skies on May 27th, 1958. By the mid-1960s, it had occupied an important place in the US Air Force aircraft line-up, and by the end of its production in 1981, it had become the most produced American supersonic combat aircraft in history.

    • The impact sectors of spall from APFSDS and HEAT shells have been recalculated. For tank-caliber APFSDS, the spalling density in the range of 7-14 degrees has been increased, while the spalling density in the range of 0-7 degrees has been decreased. The spalling of APFSDS from automatic cannons have been rebalanced to increase the amount of fragments in the range of 5-10 degrees. The spall dispersion range in a wide sector has been increased for rotating and non-rotating shaped charge (HEAT) projectiles. The maximum spall dispersion angle of rotating shaped rounds has been increased from +/- 40 to +/- 50 degrees with a slight increase in the wide sector spalling density.

The Warbond shop for “The Northern King Battle Pass” season will be open from April 24th until July 24th.

We’re presenting an interesting range of items that are available for Warbonds and earned in the Battle Pass! There’s decals, decorations, camouflages, a brand-new pinup, and some premium vehicles.

Take note of the American T14 heavy tank that combines impressive survivability with good mobility and decent firepower!

The Warbond shop is available to players that have vehicles of rank III and up and is part of the Battle Pass. You can purchase items with the special ‘Warbond’ currency that can be obtained by unlocking Battle Pass levels.
    M3A3 (1st RTG) (China)

A "Stuart" with a unique camouflage of the Chinese-American 1st Reserve Tank Group. It is extremely mobile and ideal for capturing points and attacking as a group.

    Project 123K (A-11)

The experimental Project 123K (A-11) torpedo boat is fast and, thanks to its fins, rides the waves stably, which means it can shoot more accurately than fin-less boats. But it is best suited for quickly capturing remote points.

    Wellington Mk.Ic (Germany)

A British twin-engined bomber that was taken by the Germans as a trophy. It cannot compete with other aircraft, but its good survivability and impressive bomb load will allow it to complete its combat mission with honor!

    Thunderbolt Mk.1 (Britain)

The US P-47 in service with the Royal Air Force. An excellent high-speed fighter, capable of playing the role of an attack aircraft thanks to its combination of flight characteristics and an impressive arsenal of weapons.

RN Tigre (Italy) - first time in the store

With one main-caliber salvo, the Tiger can inflict significant damage on the enemy. The main thing is to find cover for reloading and skillfully alternate between high-explosive and armor-piercing high-explosive shells.

    T14 (USA)

A heavy tank prototype jointly developed by the United States and Great Britain. Excellent armor with screens and corners, a large-caliber machine gun, a reliable penetrating weapon with a stabilizer and an armor-piercing projectile to combat other heavy weapons.

    Pinup “Gemini Zodiac”

Decals include a trophy with tiger themed decals, as well as a new Gemini Zodiac pinup, continuing the series of themed decals. In the "Camouflage" trophy you will find decorations that will help hide your tank from the eyes of enemies. The player icons in the corresponding trophy this time depict tank crews from the USSR. Trophies with random camouflages, as before, become available as new store levels are unlocked.

A large number of usable items are also available in the store: boosters, universal backups, wagers and orders, rental of premium vehicles, and also at higher levels of the store - talismans.

You can see the full catalog of the Warbonds store for the current season, as well as the conditions for receiving them in the game by opening the Battle Pass window or “Store” → “Warbonds Store”.

In this blog, we’ll be telling you about the vehicle reward for the Inferno Cannon event that’s just started today. Meet the Chinese PLZ83-130 tank destroyer!

PLZ83-130: An Event Vehicle Tank Destroyer for China at Rank V

    Features:
    • Excellent armor penetration values.
    • HE-VT shell.
    • Average mobility.
    • Low survivability.
    Vehicle History
    [expand type=details]
The Type 83/PLZ83 was the first mass-produced self-propelled artillery vehicle entirely developed and produced by the Chinese military industry. Development started in 1979, where testing of new self-propelled guns was completed at the end of 1983, and mass production began at the same time. In the late 80s, NORINCO announced the release of an export version of the PLZ83 self-propelled gun. The main differences of this modification were the 130 mm PL59A Gai gun instead of the 152 mm howitzer and a different sight. The export PLZ83-130 was not in demand by potential customers and was not mass produced.
    [/expand]

    Meet the PLZ83-130!

Welcome to the vehicle reward for the Inferno Cannon event, the Chinese PLZ83-130 tank destroyer! Unlike the PLZ83 that you may be familiar with, this new vehicle is armed with a long-barreled 130 mm cannon, turning it from a high-explosive slinger into an effective armor-piercing weapon. Let’s take a look!

What’s the main advantage of this tank? Its devastating “inferno” cannon. This nearly 7-meter-long gun fires different types of ammunition, with the main one being the great Soviet BR-482B armor-piercing round, found on the IS-7 and Object 279. This round can penetrate more than 300 mm and contains a large explosive charge as well that provides excellent post-pen damage. The next shell in this tank’s arsenal is the HE-VT, an ideal choice against aircraft! Most of the PLZ83-130’s shells and charges are stored at the back of the turret, from where the self-propelled gun reaches a rate of fire of 5 rounds per minute when reloading.

However, it’s the turret ammunition storage area and the dense layout of the fighting compartment that are the weak points of the PLZ83-130. This vehicle has bulletproof armor and is easily penetrated by autocannons, including ones from aircraft. It’s also quite large and clearly visible both from the ground and from the air. Keep this in mind, as when you’re shot at by opponents, they’ll most likely hit your turret ammunition rack ensuring that you’re sent back to the hangar. The low survivability of these types of vehicles means you’ll need good terrain and map awareness and proceed with caution around the battle.

All-in-all though, the PLZ83-130 is a very interesting vehicle that’ll be an excellent addition to the higher ranks of China. You’re able to obtain this vehicle in the Inferno Cannon event that just started today, April 24th! Complete simple stages just by playing in random ground battles to get this vehicle after 7 stages.

    War Thunder - Blitzkrieg Wulf

In this section, we will talk in more detail about the work on improvements and fixes in the game from the past two weeks. Thanks as always for your bug reports!

If you’ve found a bug that you’d like to report, you can do so on our community bug reporting platform.

    Timber!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, the tree decided to fly after it had been hit by a tank.

With sufficient acceleration, the tank made the trees forget about their mass and fly forward like blades of grass, and even spin around on their axis. It looked impressive, but it was too comical and, most importantly, unrealistic. So the reason for this behavior was identified and eliminated.

    "Duck and Cover"

A plane with a nuclear bomb is approaching! The tankers continue the battle, and the pilots of all nearby aircraft fly to intercept to prevent an explosion... Or do they? Why is no one preparing for this most important event?

It turns out that the siren, designed to give a warning about the appearance of a bomber with a nuclear weapon on board, did not always work. How so? The person responsible for anti-nuclear safety was reprimanded, and the siren was put back into service and will no longer malfunction.

    I shouldn't have exploded!

We've fixed a couple of cases where explosions hit tank crews when they shouldn't have.

The first case concerned the Challenger Mk.3 and Challenger DS tanks. The kinetic ammunition in the turret was not supposed to explode when hit, but time after time hits in the turret's cheeks disabled the tank. The second example relates to the T-90M. Its external explosion-proof fuel tanks should not cause damage to the crew when damaged, but due to a bug they did so.

    One click less

We strive to make War Thunder more convenient in all possible situations. This time we paid attention to the vehicle purchase window.

What if you don't want to allocate a crew at that time? For example, if your purchase is only an intermediate link on the way to a truly desired technology. We have added the ability to purchase a vehicle without choosing a crew. This way, you can save yourself a click and move on to further purchases faster - you can return to the personnel issue later.

    That's not all
You will find a complete list of improvements in a separate update log. Errors in the description of some armored vehicle modules have been corrected, the “spades” icon will no longer appear on vehicles for no reason, and the window for opening the Tool Box has become more beautiful.

    Today's update: Update 2.35.0.00
