War Thunder - magazine2

Sound
  • The engine sounds of enemy and allied ground and air vehicles fade more prominently and lose high frequencies over distance. This means that situations with excessive “noise” in the environment have been corrected, and the realism of the sound has improved.
  • The HSTV-L and Abrams tank series have been made to sound less distinctive as the distance increases.
  • New sounds have been created for the Challenger 2 tank engines. The old Challenger 2 sounds have been transferred to the Chieftain tank series.
  • The throttle sounds of the player’s ground vehicles will now stop if the throttle button is pressed and then released before the throttle sound ends.
  • A bug where piston aircraft sounded similar to each other has been fixed, meaning each engine type sounds unique again. This applies to both the player’s vehicles and the vehicles of enemies and allies.
  • The flyby volume of jet aircraft has been reduced.
The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.

This day is celebrated with concerts, festivals and awards for the year’s most outstanding Australians.

Discounts and the Boomerang Mk.II is available for Golden Eagles!

    About this aircraft
    • The Boomerang Mk.II is an excellent aircraft for ‘turn’ dogfights: although it’s not very fast, in terms of maneuverability, few aircraft at its rank can compete with it. Its 20 mm Hispano cannons have a modest amount of ammo, but its 7.7 mm Browning machine guns have 1,000 rounds of ammunition per barrel. In addition to this, the Boomerang Mk.II can carry 2 x 250 lb bombs for attacking ground targets. Devastating!

    About this tank
    • The A.C.IV features a 76 mm 17-pounder cannon that is capable of firing AP, APC and the great APCBC shell. This coupled with its 48 km/h speed allows it to give good account in battles and take out most opponents, making it a fantastic all-rounder Australian tank!

Following a successful offensive by Soviet troops in January 1944, the Soviets made it possible to push the Wehrmacht 70-100 km from Leningrad, ensuring a complete lifting of the blockade and safety from artillery strikes. On January 27th, the lifting of the siege of Leningrad was announced to the entire world, and in honor of this event, a celebratory fireworks display was held.

The KV-2 (ZiS-6) is available for Golden Eagles and is here to stay!

When: From January 26th (11:00 GMT).
Where: USSR > Army > Premium vehicles.

    About this tank
    • The KV-2 (ZiS-6) is essentially a KV-2 with a 1940 model turret fitted with a long-barrelled 107 mm ZIS-6 cannon, mounted instead of the 152 mm M-10T howitzer. This newly fitted gun has brilliant armor penetration — combining it with this tank’s decent mobility makes the KV-2 (ZiS-6) in general fun to play when sniping enemies from great distances.

We’re taking a look at the main reward of the Call of the Dragon event, which is the Object 292, an experimental Soviet MBT based on the T-80 series tank that features a 152 mm smoothbore gun!

Object 292: An Event Vehicle MBT for the USSR at Rank VII

    Features:
    • Long-barreled 152 mm gun!
    • Autoloader.
    • Laser rangefinder.
    • Good mobility.
    • Average armor protection.

    Meet the Object 292!

Let’s take a moment to think about what Soviet MBTs, armed with a 152 mm gun, would be like? They’d be like the Object 292, which is an experimental tank based on the T-80BV chassis that has a 152 mm smoothbore cannon. This tank is the main reward vehicle for the Call of Dragon event — let’s take a look!

The stand-out and most noticeable feature of the Object 292 is without a doubt its gun. This is a huge 152 mm LP-83 smoothbore cannon that’s stabilized, produces a lot of recoil and also has an autoloader! Thanks to its length, the general characteristics of shells have improved in terms of muzzle velocity and penetration, where the available two are an APFSDS and HE shell. In terms of ammo load and rate of fire, this tank can store 30 rounds of ammunition in total, including 16 already in the autoloader, which can be fired at a rate of 6 rounds per minute. Not bad for a gun of this size!

Interesting:In addition to the Kirov plant in Leningrad, development of 152 mm guns was carried out at the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering (“Object 195”) and the Kharkov Malyshev Plant (“Boxer” project).

Moving onto the Object 292’s chassis and speed, which is essentially the same as T-80 tanks that we’ve all come to know: a good maximum speed and a good power-to-weight ratio. On solid ground, the Object 292 can reach speeds of 70 km/h, where it’s also able to drive well in off-road conditions and maneuver without much of an issue. As you may expect, the weakest part about the Object 292’s mobility is the slow reverse speed, however this is still higher than on the T-72 series.

In War Thunder, the Object 292 is modeled exactly how the real prototype itself was tested. All types of ERA have been removed, and steel blocks have been placed on the turret acting as weight imitators. Therefore in terms of armor, the Object 292’s is generally a “naked” T-80, meaning it has vulnerable sides on the hull and turret. The frontal armor will struggle against APFSDS rounds above 105 mm caliber, and ATGMs, especially tandem charge, will not have any problem going through. You may have also noticed that the turret shape is slightly different, and you’d be right! This is because the back of the turret area has extended to accommodate the new massive breech and its recoil, and to store shells.

The Object 292 is the main reward of the Call of the Dragon event which is going to be starting very soon. Keep an eye out on the news to find out about the event how and exactly it will work so that you can get this awesome tank!

Soon after the Su-7 jet fighter was put into service, Soviet command instructed the Sukhoi design bureau to create a modification of this aircraft to be a fighter-bomber. At the same time, the USSR decided to completely abolish attack aircraft in favor of fighter-bomber aircraft. Entering service on January 24th 1961, the Su-7B became the first carrier of nuclear weapons.

The Su-7BMK is available for Golden Eagles!

When: From January 24th (13:00 GMT) until January 26th (11:00 GMT).
Where: USSR > Aviation > Premium vehicles.

    About this aircraft
    • The Su-7BMK is an export version of the Su-7BM fighter-bomber. This speedy and fast-climbing aircraft is capable of carrying a large array of diverse weapon options. Some of these include regular FAB-500M-54 bombs, OFAB-250 bombs, S-3K rockets and even large S-24 rockets. Overall the Su-7BMK is an excellent choice for attacking ground targets!
