French Navy at a Discount
The next major update will introduce closed beta testing for the French Navy in the game! To commemorate this holiday, we have discounted a bundle containing both vessels of the French Navy currently implemented in War Thunder: purchasing it will grant you CBT access! Destroyer Aigle sports five powerful 138 mm cannons that rival light cruisers, and torpedoes containing 310 kg of TNT each — a respectable arsenal for such a mobile ship! Light cruiser Duguay-Trouin is also quite agile and well-equipped for battle: its four twin 155 mm main caliber turrets, four 75 mm dual purpose guns, six 40-mm Bofors and twenty 20 mm autocannons can fend off ships and aircraft alike!
To purchase this pack, click Shop > Online Store whilst in the in-game hangar.
In 1947, President Harry Truman unified various parts of the US Armed Forces under a single chain of command, and in 1950 he dedicated a day to commemorate them all — the third Saturday of May. Now the US Armed forces employ over 1.3 million people: they are the biggest and most advanced in the world.

Hello! Today we will tell you about a new type of weapon that will appear in the game in the next major War Thunder update!
With the further development of more effective air defense systems, the only safe window for delivering bombs became ultra-low altitude, where aircraft remained outside of the detection zone of anti-aircraft radars. However, tree-top bombing is risky due to the chances of hitting the carrier aircraft with fragments of its own bombs. This is how retarded bombs first appeared - the bombs are equipped with an aerodynamic brake, or chute, to provide a low-speed fall.
Retarded bombs will appear in our game as part of the upcoming major War Thunder update. As experienced pilots know, you may already set the fuse delay on conventional bombs, which allows pilots to get out of the danger zone of fragmentation spray and the blast wave while dive bombing or performing tree-top bomb attacks. However, conventional bombs have a flat fall trajectory, which makes it very difficult to hit targets on the city streets, behind cover, or on locations with large terrain elevations. In addition, conventional air bombs fall too quickly and you can’t drop bombs on a sudden enemy, they will fly too far ahead.
Retarded bombs are perfect for strafe bombing, which is one of the most frequent bombing scenarios in mixed battles. Thanks to the parachute, these bombs slow down when dropped and smoothly fall almost vertically down. Retarded bombs can be carefully dropped in between houses, in a ravine or behind a rock!
Aircraft retarded bombs will have the full range of physical qualities of regular bombs - for example, they can be shot down in flight, so do not drop retarded bombs from a high altitude, as they can become easy prey for well-aimed anti-aircraft gunners. For aircraft equipped with ballistic computers, the drop area of retarded bombs will also be adjusted according to their specific trajectory.
We plan to equip a lot of aircraft of all gaming nations with retarded bombs right when the update goes live. In the future, we will definitely add new retarded bombs of different calibers and different nations. Stay tuned to the news!
The Swedish CV 9030 FIN infantry fighting vehicle armed with a 30mm Bushmaster cannon was developed to export to Finland.
CV 9030 FIN, light tank, Sweden, rank VI
Features:
Full-auto belt-fed cannon
Thermal vision
Light armor
The CV 90 combat vehicles not only served (and are still in service) with the Swedish army, but were also actively exported abroad. One of the export versions, equipped with the Hägglunds E-series turret and a 30 mm Bushmaster gun was developed for the Finnish army. The vehicle is optimized for operations in a subarctic climate, snow and raw terrains. Further developments on this chassis included a forward artillery observation vehicle, command and control vehicle, anti-aircraft vehicle, and others.
The Finnish CV 9030 FIN infantry fighting vehicle will become a new light tank in the Swedish ground vehicle tech tree with the release of the next major War Thunder update. Unlike the elder model, the Strf 9040B, it wields a 30mm full-auto cannon with belt belt feed.
Armored vehicles in the CV 90 family are well known to weathered commanders of Sweden. A new member of the family is the Finnish CV 9030 FIN infantry fighting vehicle. Armed with the 30mm Bushmaster autocannon, the CV 9030 is capable of destroying lighter armored vehicles. Most notably, the cannon is belt-fed with 80 rounds per belt that can be fired in bursts. A pure anti-tank belt consists of MK258 APFSDS rounds.
Other characteristics are approximately the same as those of other representatives of the CV 90 series. Despite a more powerful engine, the increased weight of the vehicle retains the dynamic qualities of other CV 90 light tanks - a maximum speed is still up to 78 km/h on a paved road. The crew of the CV 9030 FIN has 3 members, the commander has night sight optics, while the gunner has access to a thermal imager. The engine compartment is located at the front of the vehicle, which makes hitting the troop compartment in the back of the hull relatively secure for key modules. The CV 9030 FIN armor may protect the vehicle against low-caliber autocannons, but no more. The shells of tank guns will pierce the brave Finn right through.
So, a new light tank in the Swedish tech tree will be waiting for you in the hangars of the next major War Thunder update. And the development team continues to tell you the most interesting news of the upcoming update! Stay tuned!
In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section. This time the list of improvements is smaller than usual: we’re very busy preparing the upcoming major update!
Many achievements require hard work that can take several days or even weeks. Wouldn’t it be great if you could see how much you’ve done in a productive gaming session? Or in a week?
That’s why we’ve implemented a new checkpoint feature. When you press the “Remember current progress” button on an achievement in the “featured achievements” menu, the game saves date, time, and current progress of the selected achievement. And in the future if you want to check how close you got to completing the task, the game will show how many progress points you’ve received since setting up the checkpoint. It sure is great to see the fruits of your labour, isn’t it?
Overwriting presets
We found the root of the problem that caused the players’ vehicle presets to overwrite each other — and fixed it. It happened, for example, when the player was using different PCs: the preset chosen on one device overwrote the preset that was active on the other.
The issue also manifested on the PlayStation consoles, but in a different way. Upon closing the game client, there was a chance that the vehicle preset chosen by the player could save itself in the final slot, destroying the preset that was already there.
That’s Not All
You’ll find the full list of improvements in the changelog — there are many interesting things there. Night vision won’t get enabled on vehicles that don’t have it, and console versions of the game no longer freeze in the “Maginot Line” location.
Once again, many thanks for all your bug reports that you submitted using our special service.

The ability to view personal tasks (battle tasks, battle pass tasks, favourite achievements) in battle has been added.
The name of the missile trajectory straightening mode has been added to the tooltip that appears when you hover the mouse over the lower panel.
A bug where only one turret icon was displayed in the window for suspended weaponry when installing turret weapons in pairs has been fixed.
A bug where the last selected preset of vehicles after restarting the game could be copied to another preset has been fixed.
The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.
The Object 435 is a prototype tank, built under the program of the new Soviet medium tank to test the 115mm smoothbore cannon.
Object 435, medium tank, USSR, rank VI
Features:
Good frontal protection against kinetic rounds
Deadly APFSDS shells
Vulnerable to HEAT munitions
The prototype Object 435 medium tank was the most advanced in a series of experimental tanks being developed by Kharkov plant No. 75 under the "new medium tank" program at the very beginning of the 1960s. The Object 435 became a test vehicle for the newly developed 115mm U-5TS Molot unitary-loading smoothbore cannon that was later installed on tanks of the T-62 family. The tank had a short hull and an original hull armor layout at the front, which was supposed to provide the vehicle with a high level of protection against kinetic munitions. The Object 435 was canceled in 1961 in favor of another prototype, the Object 432. A surviving Object 435 tank is on display at Patriot park near Moscow.
The experimental Object 435 medium tank is one of the last steps taken by engineers to create the first Soviet main battle tank. An excellent smoothbore gun, an original shape for the hull front, and fairly compact size make the Object 435 a very interesting vehicle for battles at ranks V-VI!
The first thing that drags attention when looking at the Object 435 is its hull - unusually short, with plates of frontal armor located at sharp angles. Indeed, the short hull is a little easier to hide behind cover, and the frontal projection of the tank grants very good protection from kinetic projectiles, which have a high chance of ricocheting from armor plates and a domed turret.
The tank's gun is the U-5TS smoothbore cannon, familiar from the T-62 family. The choice of ammunition is the same: a high-explosive round, two types of APFSDS shells with a maximum penetration of about 350 mm and a HEAT round capable of breaking through up to 440 mm of armor. Thanks to its excellent ballistics, this smoothbore gun is a pleasure to shoot, even at long range. The gun has a stabilizer, and the gunner’s optics have a night vision device. Nice!
Despite the lean sporty appearance, the Object 435 is not the best runner around, being able to reach 55 km/h on paved roads, with much lower speed on raw terrains. However, the engine's throttle response is quite enough for dynamic maneuvering in the urban environment and close quarter tank duels.
The dense layout of the Object 435 and the vulnerable sides of the hull make the tank very sensitive to enemy fire. The main ammo stowage is located towards the back of the hull, which is easily pierced. The driver has collected a real “bingo” of potentially dangerous places in the tank - his seat is located exactly between the fuel tanks, and the first stage ammunition rack is placed behind his right shoulder.
Object 435 will appear in the game with the release of the next major game update - stay tuned for War Thunder news!
The abandoned frozen waters of Franz Josef Land welcome our captains! Meet the first location with destructible fortifications!
“Franz Josef Land”
The new location for naval battles called “Franz Josef Land” will become one of the northernmost locations in War Thunder. Here, players will witness the harsh lifeless expanses of plateau-like islands covered with basalt and permafrost glaciers. But even these uninhabitable islands have been mastered by man. Here you can find two polar stations, military bases, as well as a few abandoned villages.
In the Dominance mode for this location, we plan to add fortifications with a different set of weapons that provide fire support for bases. Destruction of such fortifications will grant players additional points. We want to make naval battles more varied and dynamic, and we're interested in your opinion of the new gameplay option. We look forward to your feedback as soon as the update is released!
An experimental rocket SPG with two 81mm launchers and an extreme fire rate is coming to the game as part of the upcoming War Thunder update.
Raketenautomat, SPG, Germany, rank V
Features:
Mechanized ammo rack
Very high fire rate
Limited rocket stowage
Poor protection
The Raketenautomat self-propelled rocket launcher will be one of the pure novelties of the upcoming major War Thunder update. The vehicle will be the first post-war German self-propelled gun to research after the monstrously heavy Jagdtiger. A few words about the new high-tech rocket launcher!
The fancy look of the vehicle is determined by an unusual combat module, familiar to weathered tankers after the Swedish Landsverk U-SH 405. Two launchers of unguided rockets on a rotating turret are fed from mechanized drum-type ammunition racks for 9 rockets each. The commander could choose from two types of warheads, which are available immediately after purchasing the vehicle: high-explosive fragmentation and high-explosive anti-tank, with a penetration of more than 300mm.
Rockets have a fairly high velocity, so that they are able to provide effective fire even at medium range. The most interesting thing is that all 18 rockets in the “drums” of the Raketenautomat could be fired in a two seconds burst, unleashing a salvo of HEAT or HE rounds that is colossal in terms of potential damage. However, reloading the mechanized racks takes a significant amount of time, so firing in long bursts in most cases is not recommended.
The Raketenautomat is built on the chassis of the HS.30 armored personnel carrier, which has quite good speed up to 60 km/h, but lacks any proper armor. A small crew of only three men could also hardly help in surviving the enemy fire.
The Raketenautomat self-propelled gun will take its place at rank V in the German armored vehicle tech-tree in the next War Thunder major update. Follow the Developers Diary series to know more news about the update!
