War Thunder - Blitzkrieg Wulf

You have probably already heard about a top secret base built in the USSR in late 1950s and known as Facility 3826. They have found many uses - domestic and professional. But thanks to the “Atomic Heart” project, robots now have decent battle abilities and battle vehicles have a place in War Thunder, of course.

We are introducing a separate lineup of secret Soviet robots created in collaboration with Atomic Heart! Here you will find the most diverse vehicles. For example, MA-9 Belyash welding robot inspired by chimpanzees which can easily climb even on vertical surfaces and this makes it a perfect scout. Designed for repair and construction work, the NA-T256 Natasha is equipped with a jetpack that allows it to launch vertically and reach speeds of up to 95 km/h. It is also armed with anti-personnel mines, a rocket launcher and Katyusha 3.0 multiple rocket launcher, making it indispensable in support. Air attack equipment such as the MTU-7 Bumblebee truck with laser system or a small-sized mobile drone LUC-1 Owl with ShKAS automatic machine guns are also widely represented in the lineup.

Thanks to the detailed documentation received from Scientific and Industrial Facility 3826, battle robotics will be embodied into War Thunder with all certainty.

Wait for it on the battlefields!

War Thunder - magazine2

It is time to introduce to the game the main force of any military conflict - the infantry troops! We are pleased to announce our vision on the infantry progression tree and invite you to take part in the open testing of the most advanced soldiers!

War Thunder Mobile Infantry - open beta testing of the troops of the future!
Commanders! We’re happy to share our plans on infantry units in War Thunder. Today we’re talking about how we see troops in the game and invite you into the first open testing session. Unlike the combat vehicles testing, we decided to start with the top-tier units of the infantry line-up, featuring the most advanced soldier equipment, which is a prospective of modern warfare trends.

Exo-suits
According to many military experts, combat exoskeletons will become the most likely development of infantry equipment in future. Urbanized terrain, as the main battle arena of modern warfare, as well as the need for a soldier to use heavy weapons and high classes of armor protection, require from a modern soldier capabilities that go beyond abilities of the unassisted human body. A powered exoskeleton will allow the soldier to operate a wide arsenal of small arms and heavy weapons, use anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons as a firearm, and stay able to move fast and high. The wearable ammunition load and the weight of equipment become incomparably large towards an ordinary infantryman, while the dimensions of the soldier remain small, and the speed of movement significantly increases.

The first prototypes of combat exoskeletons are already being tested in modern wars and the prospects for their development are very optimistic. We invite you to an open testing session of combat exo-suits, equipped for various combat missions: assault, sniper, ATGM and MANPADS operators.

We will tell you about the start of testing soon. Stay tuned!

Combat classes
The standard combat exoskeleton provides an unified platform to equip different combat classes. It comes geared with multiple systems to increase combat capabilities of a soldier, as well as survivability: combat helmet with armored visor, rocket jump-packs to assist taking high positions on buildings, smoke grenade launchers, etc.

Assault

Assault troops engage in close quarter firefights and often face enemy armored vehicles. The assault infantry is equipped with a high-caliber machine gun and twin tube ATGM launcher to defeat tanks and combat vehicles of the enemy.

Sniper

Snipers provide reconnaissance data to their squad and engage long-range contacts. Their main weapon is a 30mm semi-automatic anti-material sniper rifle. A pair of single shot disposable rocket launchers allow the sniper to hit armored targets if needed.

ATGM operator

The main task of anti-armor personnel is to destroy enemy armored vehicles. A portable twin-tube missile system with additional ammunition allows ATGM operators to destroy any MBTs and other armored vehicles on the battlefield. As small arms at medium and close range, their exoskeleton is equipped with an 8.6 mm light machine gun with a multiple charged 43 mm grenade launcher.

MANPADS operator

The MANPADS operator is responsible for destroying enemy aircraft and providing reconnaissance data from above. The exoskeleton in this class is equipped with a light UAV, as well as an advanced aiming station, capable of sectoral search for air targets and an automatic target tracking system. The operator is equipped with an up-to-date man-portable anti-aircraft missile system with a multifunctional high-explosive armor-piercing fragmentation warhead and a thermal imaging seeker that makes it possible to track heat-contrasting ground targets. To destroy helicopters, lightly armored ground vehicles and enemy troops, the MANPADS operator is equipped with a heavy machine gun pod.

On April 1st, 1918 the Royal Air Force was founded, and on the same date in 1924 — the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. Around that time HMS Hermes, the first purpose built aircraft carrier, was commissioned.

Both the Royal Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy proved instrumental in 1940, during the Battle for Britain, when they managed to hold against the might of the entire Luftwaffe and prevent invasion by Germany.

From March 30th (13:00 GMT) until April 3rd (7:00 GMT)

Play 3 battles using British aircraft (rank III or higher, with an activity of not less than 70%) to receive the “Royal Air Force Day" decal.

Typhoon Mk.Ib temporarily on sale

To commemorate this day, the https://wiki.warthunder.com/Typhoon_Mk_Ib from the British research tree will be available for purchase with Golden Eagles during the event. It is a Rank III fighter aircraft equipped with four 20mm Hispano Mk II cannons and capable of carrying two 1000 lb bombs or eight RP-3 rockets, making it a great asset in dealing with ground vehicles.

The Italian Royal Army founded its air arm back in 1884, but a separate Air Force was founded on March 28th, 1923 — precisely 100 years ago. In the 1930s it participated in military operations in Ethiopia and Spain, in the 1940s it fought in WWII as a part of Axis powers (and then partially for Allies), and in 1990 it took part in the Gulf War in an international coalition.

From March 28th (14:00 GMT) until March 31st (07:00 GMT)

Play 3 battles using Italian aircraft (rank III or higher, with an activity of not less than 70%) to receive the “100th Anniversary of the Italian Air Force” decal.

Gerard Roope
During World War II Gerard Roope, commander of HMS Glowworm, was the first to perform a heroic deed deserving of a Victoria Cross, the highest military award of the British forces. On April 8th, 1940, near the coast of Norway Glowworm found itself outgunned against the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper. Heavily damaged Glowworm rammed the enemy ship, piercing her hull, and fired a last shot before capsizing. Gerard Roope perished helping the crew escape the sinking ship. Hellmuth Heye, commander of the Admiral Hipper, was so impressed by Roope's actions that he wrote a letter to the British authorities recommending him for an award.

You can immediately purchase the profile icon for Golden Eagles until May 3rd, 11:30 GMT without completing tasks. Click Nickname → Achievements → Pages of History (April).

Trophy reward for each task
Completion of each individual task will bring you a trophy with one of the following rewards:
  • 20-50% RP booster for 3-10 battles;
  • 20-50% SL booster for 3-10 battles;
  • 3-5 universal backup vehicles;

  • A random camouflage for ground vehicles (out of the selection of camouflages currently obtainable in game for completing tasks, or purchasing with Golden Eagles).
Other terms
  • Tasks are available from 11:00 GMT until 11:30 GMT on the final day of each task.
  • Tasks can be completed in random battles, except for “Assault” mode.

April 1st — April 4th
Operation Iceberg
On April 1st, 1945 an operation to capture the island of Okinawa by US forces began. The battle lasted for almost three months and took the lives of over 200,000 Japanese soldiers and Okinawa’s citizens. Controlling Okinawa gave the US a military base and airfields that could be used for the potential full scale invasion of the main territory of Japan.

April 5th — April 8th
Battle of Königsberg
Königsberg, the key German stronghold in East Prussia, was stormed by Soviet forces from April 6th through to the th9, 1945. The Red Army was well-prepared: the soldiers learned the tactics of urban combat beforehand, and to prepare for the assault, German defenses were attacked by artillery and aircraft. As a result, the USSR suffered far fewer losses than the Third Reich, and the operation was completed swiftly and effectively.

April 9th — April 12th
Operation Weserübung
On April 9th, 1940, Germany began operation Weserübung (Weser Exercise) to quickly gain control over Denmark and Norway. Denmark didn’t put up much of a resistance, and its capture took only six hours, making it the shortest military operation of WWII. Norway resisted with the help of Poland, France, and Great Britain, but on May 10th the Battle of France began, and the support of Norway quickly dried up. On June 10th the Norwegian government fled to London, and the country fell under German control.

April 13th — April 16th
Graz-Amstetten Operation
After capturing Vienna, the Soviet Army continued to rout the Wehrmacht across Austria and northern Yugoslavia. Graz-Amstetten offensive operation was the last one in this region: it began on April 15th, 1945, by countering a strong counteroffensive by the German forces that lasted for two weeks, and continued until the end of the war on May 9th, with some garrisons and units fighting even after the surrender of Germany.

April 17th — April 20th
Battle for Hamburg
By mid April of 1945 Hamburg remained the last stronghold of the Wehrmacht’s resistance in northern Germany. On April 18th British forces started advancing towards the city, entering Hamburg proper near the end of the month, when Germany was already negotiating its surrender. The city’s capture was relatively bloodless, but by that time Hamburg was already devastated by bombings.

April 20th — April 23rd
Operation Vulcan
On April 22nd, 1943 the Allies began operation Vulcan aiming to crush the last Axis defenses in northern Tunisia. The battle proved difficult due to Axis forces being well-prepared, with German paratroopers performing an unexpected counterattack. Still, in two weeks, by May 7th, Allies captured Tunis, and the victory was at hand.

April 24th — April 27th
Elbe Day
On April 25th, 1945, two allied armies, from east and west, met on the banks of Elbe. First two American patrols that crossed the river greeted the Soviet soldiers, and on the next day two lieutenants, William Robertson and Alexander Silvashko, took the famous “East Meets West” photo in Torgau.

April 27th— April 30th
Cambodian invasion
A coup d’etat happened in Cambodia in 1970. General Lon Nol after coming to power demanded Viet Cong to leave his county, but instead they, along with Khmer Rouge, the local resistance group, took up arms against the Cambodian army. On April 29th, 1970, the US forces entered Cambodia to support Lon Nol. The operation lasted for three months and was tactically successful: North Vietnamese forces took heavy losses and had to postpone their invasion of South Vietnam. Still, war in Cambodia led to growing support for the Khmer Rouge, who took over the country in a few years.
