In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section.



How much ammo is left in your machine gun? Now you will know it because we have added an ammunition indicator for ground vehicle machine guns. Above the shells icons you will see a bar that visually shows how much ammo you have left because it is useful to be able to gauge how much ammo you still have left to use. This bar will also come in handy when the ammo is nearing the end: it will show the progress of reloading. The number of remaining machine gun belts will be shown separately.



Coaxial machine guns are combined into one interface element and the anti-aircraft machine gun is displayed separately from them. Well, if you don’t like this new feature for some reason you can easily disable it in the settings.





Imagine the situation: the turret is rotated perpendicular to the hull, the ammo rack in the rear cavity caught fire, the blowout panels go off. And somehow the fire spreads over the engine module and other modules. How can it come to this?

It was a mistake that affected Leopards, Leclercs and a number of other vehicles. We have fixed it - no more unnecessary fires will occur.





On large ships we spotted a discrepancy: the crew card promised one time to reload main calibre guns but it actually turned out to be different! No more misinformation: the cannon reload times on the vehicle cards now match those in the battles. Everything is strictly according to the protocol!



We are continuing to work on improving War Thunder. The pilot’s helmet visor will be properly reflected in the cockpit mirrors, the flames from the spigots will be visible even when the vertical sync is enabled and we have also fixed a few bugs related to the custom weaponry presets.


For this digest we have prepared a large set of useful fixes and game improvements. Be sure to read the full list below - there are many interesting things.

• An ammo indicator on ground vehicle machine guns has been added. Available ammo is displayed with a number and a scale, the animation of the filling the scale visually indicates reloading. Coaxial machine guns are combined into a single UI element, while an AA machine gun is displayed separately. The option is enabled by default. You may hide the indicator in Options - Ground vehicle Battle Setting.
  
• A bug has been fixed that resulted in visible muzzle flashes while observing from the machine gun sight in Simulator battles or with gunner camera enabled.
  
• A bug has been fixed that resulted in normal fire while blowout panels were triggered on the following vehicles: AMX-40, Leclerc, Leclerc S2, Leclerc SXXI, Leopard 2A4, Leopard 2A5, Leopard 2 PL, Type 10, Type 90, Type 90 (B), Strv 122A, Strv 122B PLSS, XM-1 (Chrysler), XM-1 (GM).
  
• AUBL/74 — smoke grenades have been changed to the modern aerosol type.
  
• ARL-44 — magnification of the gunner’s sight has been changed from standard х1.9-3.5 to х4 (report)
  
• IS-3, IS-6 — The AA machine gun is now controlled by the loader.

• F-4E (IAF) — a bug has been fixed where a pylon was missing while equipping AIM-9G missiles.
  
• G.91 R/4 — position of the guns has been fixed in the secondary weapon menu while installing AS-20 or AA-20 missiles. Guns now shifted to the right side of the fuselage.
  
• MiG-27K— a bug has been fixed where unused pylons were displayed in the custom weapon setup with KAB-500 and KAB-500L guided bombs.
  
• EC-665 Tiger HAP, EC-665 Tiger HAD — position of the gunner’s camera in the cockpit has been fixed.
  
• A bug has been fixed where in custom weapon setups a bomb drop might temporarily disable any following bombs in the drop order.
  
• A bug has been fixed that prevented the display of the nozzle flames in the WEP mode while vertical synchronisation was enabled.
  
• A bug has been fixed that resulted in flickering in mirrors and the HUD in cockpit view.
  
• A bug has been fixed that prevented the HUD visor from displaying in the cockpit mirrors.

• IJN Kongo — a bug has been fixed that prevented auxiliary calibre round change in battle.
  
• Desynchronization of the reload speed on the reload indicator and in the crew skill tab has been fixed for the bluewater ships.

• All author camouflages from trophies from the “Starfighters”, “Viking Fury”, “Nordwind” and “Night Vision” updates now all have the same rarity: unusual (green).
  
• In connection with the change in the rarity of camouflages from trophies from the Starfighters”, “Viking Fury”, “Nordwind” and “Night Vision” updates, the conditions of exchange of camouflage coupons for vouchers on consoles have been updated in accordance with their new rarity.
  
• The amount of ammunition for anti-aircraft and coaxial machine guns has been changed to a multiple of the length of the used belt.

The F4D-1 Skyray will become one of the main prizes in the War Thunder “Summer Quest” marathon. The first ever supersonic carrier-based fighter will appear in the American aviation tech tree at rank VI. The unusual shape of the wing, which really looks like a manta ray, and advanced wing lift devices make it possible to keep the turn and roll time approximately at the level of other rank VI fighters, but the climb rate of the F4D-1 Skyray is really astonishing at her rank - over 90 metres per second! At the same time, in afterburner mode, the F4D-1 is capable of accelerating to transonic speeds at sea level.





The F4D-1 Skyray's armament consists of four forward-facing 20mm Browning-Colt Mk12 Mod.0 cannons. In addition, the pilot will be able to use the custom weapon setup menu to combine FFAR pods (up to 114 unguided rockets in total) and up to 4 AIM-9B Sidewinder air-to-air missiles in various combinations. It is worth noting that for its early years of service, the fighter is equipped with a radar.





The F4D-1 Skyray is the main aviation prize of the War Thunder summer marathon "Summer Quest". This elegant fighter with excellent climb rate and good firepower can be obtained just by playing the game!

The main ground vehicle prize in the upcoming Summer Quest event is the German experimental PT-19/T19-AV main battle tank wielding a precise 105mm gun.

The Leopard 2AV is the main prize of the huge Summer Quest event, this main battle tank will take rank VI in the German armored vehicles tech tree. The tank is a transitional version from the Leopard 1 to the serial Leopard 2: the vehicle has the 105 mm L7A3 cannon familiar from the first series, while the FCS, engine and armor layout correspond to the early Leopards of the second series.

The nomenclature of the shells in the 105mm gun includes HEATFS, HESH and a pair of APFSDS shells. Armor-piercing DM23 and DM33 will become the most popular in battles due to their excellent armor penetration and smoother ballistics.




Leopard 2AV keeps the glorious tradition of excellent mobility of the series. The vehicle has a very high power-to-weight ratio, the tank picks up quickly and maneuvers perfectly.

The new Leopard is much better protected than the representatives of the first series. Combined and spaced armor appeared on the tank, which protects well from anti-tank missiles and shape-charged shots. The armor plates of the hull and turret in the front are at rational angles, which in some cases helps to ricochet kinetic projectiles. In general, the PT-19/T19-AV is as protected as Leopard-2A4. Still, almost all sub-caliber AP rounds from enemy tank guns easily pierce the tank armor, and thin sides can even be penetrated by autocannons.




The Leopard 2AV is a master of many trades in combat. Firstly, the tank is genius in flanking. An accurate gun, a fairly high rate of fire, and effective DM33 AP rounds allow it to be used as a sniper. Its high mobility, good hull and turret traverses give it an undeniable advantage in the cramped conditions of urban gunplays. Whatever style the commander chooses, the Leopard will not let you down!

The daring and fast Leopard 2AV will be yours for free for completing the tasks in the big summer event “Summer Quest”. Feel free to take on the tasks, it's not difficult, and the prizes are definitely worth the effort!

The battleship Haruna was the sister ship of the legendary Kongō. A new top-tier sea monster is the main prize in the upcoming War Thunder summer event.

The battleship Haruna, the sistership of the legendary battleship Kongō, comes into the game as the main naval prize of the War Thunder “Summer Quest” special event. Featuring an extremely powerful artillery and good sailing performance, this ship is ideal for an aggressive style of battle in groups of light and heavy cruisers. Haruna's main armament is 8 36 cm/45 Type 41 (356 mm) guns in four turrets. Captains have a choice of high-explosive, armor-piercing, and semi-armor-piercing shells that are capable of hitting any type of enemy ships at all ranges. The auxiliary calibers are 8x152mm cannons in casemates above the main armor belt - four guns per side. Twin 127mm universal guns are responsible for destroying light surface targets and aircraft at long distances, and the short-range air defense battery is really amazing - 118x25mm fast-firing cannons in triple, single and twin mounts create a blazing stream of fire that has not yet been seen in War Thunder!





The weaker area of Haruna is her comparatively low protection. The thickness of the main armor belt is 203mm, the overall hull protection is 152mm, the main gun turret and the wheelhouse are protected with 254mm armor. This is quite enough to protect from light cruiser fire, but the armor-piercing shots of battlecruisers and especially battleships are almost guaranteed to inflict damage on Haruna’s modules. On the other hand, the ship has fairly well-protected barbettes that can save a not too large crew, well-protected gun magazines and an almost impenetrable protection in the propeller group.





Due to not the best protection and excellent firepower, Haruna's place on the battlefield is at the very tip of the spear. Moving with a group of allied cruisers, the ship has a good chance of surviving battleship fire, inflicting massive damage on enemy cruisers. The good maximum speed of the battleship - up to 30,5 knots (56,5 km/h) - helps Haruna to stick with the group.





Battleship Haruna is one of the best bluewater ships in the game. Any War Thunder player will be able to get this excellent ship, which is important - for free! Enter the Summer Quest event and fight for the battleship Haruna, she’s worth it!

• For airborne radar antenna, manual tilt control is available by using the "Radar/IRST tilt control axis" control axis. If the radar antenna has pitch stabilisation it will keep elevation angle relative to the horizon regardless of ownership manoeuvres.
  
  • Antenna manual tilt control allows players to search targets above and below without manoeuvres such as climbing or diving.
    
  • To use antenna manual tilt control, the "Constant elevation of radar antenna" option must be disabled. Otherwise, the antenna behaviour will be the same as before - the centreline of the scan zone in elevation will have fixed position relative ownership nose.
• Scan zone centreline in azimuth for radars of F-14A, JA37, Mirage 3E, MiG-23M/MF/MLD/MLA, F-4EJ KAI, AH-64D and Ka-52 is controlled by "Horizontal Radar/IRST target cue control axis" axis regardless of "Targets cyclic switching of ground radar" option.
  
• For F-14A and JA37 radars in TWS mode, the scan zone centreline always tracks the selected target.
  
• For F-14A and JA37 radars in TWS mode if "Targets cyclic switching of ground radar" option is disabled, the target selection cursor is stuck to the selected target as long as it is not moved away by "Horizontal Radar/IRST target cue control axis" or "Vertical Radar/IRST target cue control axis" axes.
  
• For F-14A radar switching between two ACM modes: VSL and BST has been moved from "Change radar mode" to "Change radar search mode" command.
  
• For F-14A radar in ACM modes (BST and VSL) and in tracking mode TRK it is possible to switch between pulse and pulse doppler modes. This doesn’t change search mode (SRC PD, TWS, SRC PDV, SRC) anymore.
  
• Target appearance on radar range-finder indicator has been fixed.

The Type 74 was only the second tank created in post-war Japan. But it was made well: the first model was produced in 1975, but thanks to new modifications, it remained in use for many years. G is the ultimate modification of Type 74, and also the final.

Why? It’s all about the money: state of the art equipment costs a fortune. Judge by yourselves: a powerful 720 HP engine, side skirts, a thermal imaging system, and a laser rangefinder!

But the coolest feature of the Type 74 G is the hydropneumatic suspension. Thanks to it and the two-plane stabilized gun this tank is well suited for a sniper role: carefully peek from cover just enough to make an accurate shot.

Type 74 G is also great at defense using the “shoot and hide to reload” tactic. Use the high mobility and accuracy of your tank to take care of the enemy before they even notice you and have a chance to counterattack!

A fully armored WWII self-propelled gun equipped with a 75mm cannon and rocket launchers! A special Hungarian exotic for the special event in War Thunder.

The Hungarian Zrínyi I self-propelled artillery gun will be the first prize of the Summer Quest marathon and will appear at rank III in the lineup of the Italian armored vehicles. The self-propelled gun was developed under the significant influence of the German StuGs, and this modification was created specifically to combat armored vehicles. The vehicle is well protected, and the roof of the combat compartment protects the crew from machine guns and aircraft autocannons. The 75mm Hungarian-made cannon is mounted in a ball mount at the front of the SPG and has a fairly good decline angle. The cannon fires several types of rounds, including HEAT and chambered armor-piercing shells, the latter being capable of penetrating more than 140mm of armor at close range.





The highlight of this already excellent self-propelled gun is the six-tubed rocket launcher, arranged by three along the sides of the vehicle's hull at the rear. "Zrínyi" takes into battle 6 rockets with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead. Rockets will come in very handy for destroying or damaging die-hard enemies, groups of enemies, or light tanks in shelters.





Tough, well-armed and quite mobile, the Zrínyi I self-propelled gun will be a great addition to the Italian III-IV rank setup in any game mode. To get one Mark of distinction for a tanker/pilot/sailor, earn 40,000 mission points in random battles from rank III and higher (from rank I for event vehicles) on the corresponding vehicle type in the corresponding game mode. Points multiplier that varies based on vehicle rank and difficulty level is stated in the task description. The tasks are all the same and are renewed every two days at 11:00 GMT.

• The exact terms of each task can be found in the “Nickname → Achievements → Summer Quest” window.
  
• To get a Mark of distinction, you need to complete a task on the corresponding vehicle type in the corresponding game mode. For example, a Mark of distinction for a pilot can be received only by playing Air battles (AB/RB/SB).
  
• You can complete the tasks in multiplayer battles in all game modes except for “Assault”.
  
• You can complete the tasks not only on vehicles Rank III and above, but also on lower rank event vehicles. You could receive those in large events such as winter and summer marathons, WWII chronicles, BP seasons and craft marathons. In the vehicle cards of such vehicles you can find the names of events in which said vehicles first became available in the game.
  
• You have received the Mark of distinction if the achievement’s color is golden.
  
• Missed Marks of distinction can be purchased for Golden Eagles in the Achievements window until September 1st, 2022. Make sure you pick the right achievement category: for tankers, pilots and sailors.
  
• Prizes received in the form of coupons will be available for trading on the market from September 2nd, 2022. The time from which the coupon can be traded can be viewed in the game in the coupon description. The option of trading each coupon separately depends on the time of its receipt and doesn’t depend on the vehicle type.
  
• For 8 Marks of distinction you receive an untradable coupon for a vehicle. Upon activating it, you will instantly receive a corresponding vehicle. If you do not wish to use the vehicle and want to sell the coupon on the Marketplace instead, you need the “Upgrade for coupon” item.
  
• For 10 Marks of distinction you receive an untradable “Upgrade for coupon” item. You can use it to make the vehicle coupon you received tradable and then sell it on the Marketplace. The date from which your tradable coupon can be sold can be found in its description in the game.
  
• The “Upgrade for coupon” item has an expiration date. You can either use it or exchange it for Warbonds before it expires.
  
• PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to exchange decal coupons for similar ones. The exchange is available in the “Workshop → Exchange items “Summer Quest” window.
