One of the prizes in the new War Thunder Battle Pass season is the Japanese Type T-51A motor torpedo boat. This premium boat is a close relative of the Type T-51B, which can be found in the Japanese coastal fleet research tree, and differs mainly in the composition of weapons. The new boat has 4 torpedo tubes for Type 2 torpedoes and twin-barreled 25mm auto cannon instead of a triple-barrelled. The Type T-51A has a larger displacement, but the power in the power plants, transmitted to two shafts, makes its dynamic characteristics generally similar to the T-51B: with similar turning dynamics, only a slightly higher maximum speed of 55 km/h distinguishes the prototype.



4 torpedoes make the Type T-51A more ready to counter destroyers, while a pair of 25mm machine guns with excellent reload speed and quite good ballistics are still extremely dangerous against light enemy boats.



The main problem of the Type T-51A, like that of its linear counterpart, is the awkward aiming angles of the gun mount. The only turret with twin 25 mm/60 Type 96 guns is located in the aft section,protected by an armored shield, which significantly limits the horizontal firing angles. To start firing, the commander has to turn the long hull sideways towards the enemy. If the enemy is ahead and was the first to open fire, it is not always possible to complete such a maneuver. Type T-51A doesn’t allow dashing rushes to capture points due to the design features. A good idea while playing this boat is to stay on the second line of attack or partially in cover, and support the team with torpedoes and gunfire. An undoubted advantage of the Type T-51A is her premium status that allows quick research in the lower ranks of the Japanese boat fleet and quickly move to high-speed and heavily armed vehicles at higher ranks.

In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder in the website special section.




We strive to make the game as stable as possible. On some PC configurations the image would freeze after a few battles even though FPS remained normal.

We have been looking for this bug ever since we received your reports about it but it turned out to be a difficult one: it took us quite a while to figure out the root of the issue and then to fix it. But we handled it! These freezes are a thing of the past - the game should now run smoothly and without delays.




In general fire is good, especially if the game is about shots and explosions, but it must also be in moderation. On anti-aircraft machine guns in some ground vehicles this rule actually failed and as a result the flashes of the shots simply began to block the view when shooting through an anti-aircraft sight.

It was a bug. We removed these flares and left the tracers on a lot of vehicles with anti-aircraft machine guns and autocannons.




We are not talking about thermal imaging but about a more specific system.

Some SAMs are equipped with a capture and tracking mechanism that is oriented on the thermal trail on an air target. Aircraft in turn can shoot off flares. But some aircraft and helicopters have variants of flares in the form of dipole reflectors - thin strips of metallized foil designed to deceive guidance and tracking systems of very different types.

That’s what dipole reflectors were distracting the IRST systems which wasn’t right at all.

Now we have done it the scientific way. Now only enemy flares can interfere with the mechanism.




A ballistic calculator helps a pilot to display the predicted location of the shells drops for example on aircraft cannons. Due to the bug, the marker of the calculator was displayed behind the aircraft. This bug has been fixed and now the marker operates correctly.

By the way - or aircraft with different offensive cannons and machine guns, pilots often use the option “Vertical targeting” of the weaponry that changes the aiming for some weapons and allows you to fire at a single point differently with the weight and calibre of shells at a specified distance for effective fire. Now the ballistic calculator marker more accurately indicates the point of impact even with the vertical targeting option turned on.



We’re constantly improving all aspects of War Thunder. The sounds of ground and air battles continues to be adjusted to avoid the appearance of "silent" vehicles. the sequence of bomb drops for some aircraft has been clarified and the animations for the naval weaponry have been corrected. • A bug has been fixed where a player’s hydroplane engine sounded lower with each shot from a player’s ship in Naval battles.
  
• Ground vehicle engine and track sounds from 3rd person view with maximum zooming out are now concentrated in the centre of the panorama.

• Stutters on specific PC configurations appearing after a few battles have been fixed.

Except for quick commands, players often use the battle chat to tell allies about a winning tactical manoeuvre in time, warn team mates about danger and sometimes demoralise opponents and ask them to surrender immediately. But as if that were not the case….

Opening chat while moving at the same time could block control from the keyboard and the chat itself would stop responding to commands. All that remained in this situation to a player - was to play the role of a stationary firing point.

This strange bug has been found and fixed. You can make sneaky plans again and practice diplomacy in battle chats.





Literally every track and every wheel in War Thunder has many different characteristics that determine their traction on different types of surfaces. Among them is the lateral "tenacity", depending on which your ground vehicle might be kept on more or less significant slopes.

There was a bug in the calculations of this characteristic which might lead not only to an excessive lateral slip but also vice versa - your vehicle could begin to be pulled to the top of the hill.

You might have even found unusual videos of drifting down hillsides. Now this mistake has been fixed.





Modern aviation, especially helicopters can carry impressive and diverse weapons in pods or as regular suspended weaponry. But in order to effectively and quickly use them in battle we recommend using the weapon selectors. Especially now that the aiming marker is no longer missing. For example on the Mi-24P when switching the offensive weaponry selector.





Several image fixes so that nothing distracts you from the battle. In particular a highlighted square will no longer be visible under an aircraft in a night battle if you have medium or high global illumination preset with an Nvidia GPU.

We also removed the dark bar in these night battles, which could be displayed when the camera was actively rotating. This artefact could be displayed at the edges of the screen with any graphic preset.




Some time ago, on helicopters and ground vehicles with onboard defence systems, the indication of the direction of detected threats, both missiles and laser radar, disappeared.

The bug has been fixed. Now you will have a better chance of reacting on time to the threat and taking any necessary actions!





The longer ammo belts for the automatic belt-fed cannons were taking way too long to refill at a captured point - some vehicles could take up to four minutes to reload. We revised the resupply time for this type of weapon to only 20 seconds!

• The engine sound management system of enemy/allied vehicles has been reconfigured so as to eliminate the possibility of appearing of “silent” vehicles around the player’s vehicle. This applies to ground vehicles and aircraft.
  
• The engine volumes of enemy/allied ground vehicles have been aligned with each other.
  
• A bug that caused enemy/allied jets to be inaudible when approaching the player has been fixed.
  
• Sounds of the machine guns of the ground vehicles received more dynamics. It means that each shot has become more audible compared to the previous and subsequent ones.
  
• Hits on the ground vehicle of the player and enemies/allies received low-frequency and mid-frequency components of the explosion. Previously the most distinguishable element was the clang of a shell against armour.

• In the “Assault Ground Arcade” mode, a bug where it wasn’t possible to respawn in helicopters of a BR under 8.3 has been fixed.

• Ability to play in squads in the missions of dynamic campaigns has been disabled.
  
• A bug where simultaneous vehicle movement and interacting with game chat could cause controls to be blocked has been fixed (report).
  
• Advance to the Rhine — A bug which could lead to sudden destruction of a player's aircraft when flying at a low altitude along the river has been fixed (report).

• A new UI has been enabled for aircraft that displays flight parameters, engine mode, ammo capacity and aiming markers for bombs and missiles.

This important fix is relevant for every tanker! There’s a general crew rule in War Thunder: “the primary gunner and the driver must be conscious for the vehicle to remain ready for combat”. Except for several vehicles that have dual control and targeting systems, there’s a rule in place that regulates how crew members replace their incapacitated comrades: secondary gunner, radio operator -> commander -> loader -> primary gunner -> driver.

This rule didn’t work properly in some cases. For example, when a commander and a loader were knocked out consecutively, the radio operator in your crew could take the place of the commander, and not the loader, as the rule dictates. We’ve fixed these errors.





We’ve corrected the work of the Gast guns on the SPAAG 2S6. Added alternating fire for 30mm guns of the 2A38 — now they will fire in alternation in accordance with their prototype. Alternating fire has also been added to the 40mm M2 guns on the SPAAGs M19 and M42.

This is a nice change that will raise the density of fire and the chance of hitting aerial targets.




It was a simple error, but also an eyesore in the most literal sense. In some cases a destroyed barrel was still being displayed in the sights, covering the view. Now this shouldn't be a problem anymore.



Now blinking details like tank tracks or other vehicle parts won’t annoy you anymore: we’ve uncovered the root of this problem and fixed it!


Here’s the gist of the error: after enabling free look and switching to binoculars, your commander was facing the same direction as your gun. You’ve notified us of this inconvenience, and we’ve fixed the logic of this mechanic. Now when you enable binoculars in free look mode, the commander will face the same way as your camera.

• The conditions for obtaining the “Royal Navy” decal have been clarified. The list of vehicles has been replaced with the requirement “British carrier-based aircraft”.
  
• Missing localization of the titles “Cavalier of the Order of Liberation” and “Chevalier of the Order of Merit of France” has been fixed.

• The volume of the re-gassing sound of enemy/allied tanks of the Challenger series has been decreased.
  
• Playback logic of enemy/allied aircraft engine and cannon sounds has been adjusted to avoid situations where no sound has been played.
  
• Engine sound of the player's tank T-80 series has been narrowed by panorama and corrected by frequencies. Previously there were situations where the sound of the T-80's own engine made you think there was an enemy tank nearby.

The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.
