War Thunder - CyberStonka
Check out the early access packs available for the Israeli ground forces CBT that starts in the next major update after “Winged Lions”!

In the “Winged Lions” update we launched the aviation CBT for Israel. In the next major update we will start the closed beta testing of the Israeli armored forces! Each Early Access Pack guarantees early access to the beta testing, and until it starts you will be able to master your crews in all vehicle slots. Early Access Pack vehicles will have 3 free respawns in Arcade and Realistic battles in War Thunder.
M-51
The M-51 will be a premium rank IV tank and one of the first representatives of a separate tech tree of the Israeli armored vehicles. The M-51 hull was borrowed from the American Sherman tank, so at rank IV the tank lacks armor protection, but the M-51 is able to withstand the hits from automatic guns of ground vehicles, aircraft cannons and is relatively well protected from the explosions of small and medium bombs.

The key advantage of this tank is a French-made 105mm cannon with powerful HEAT shells that are used on the French AMX-30 tanks. Composite or ERA protection are very rare for armored vehicles of this range, therefore the M-51 shape-charge rounds are able to pierce the armor of almost any tank, but due to the focused action of the shell, it requires careful aiming at the enemy's critical modules - ammo racks, engine, gun breech, or crew.
Merkava Mk.2D
The Merkava Mk.2D will be a rank VI Premium tank in the ground vehicles research tree for Israel. The vehicle retains all the advantages of its predecessor, the Mk.2B - a laser rangefinder, a thermal imager in the gunner's sight, laser warning and effective anti-tank ammunition.

The main difference in the new tank is the improved protection of the turret’s sides and the hull’s front upper glacis. The sides of the turret are reinforced with modules of combined armor that are intended for additional protection of the turret from shape-charged weapons. Additional protective modules are also installed on the upper frontal part of the hull, increasing the protection for the driver. In game, the enhanced HEAT protection of the tank will become especially relevant for countering ATGM carriers, as well as helicopters, while effective HEAT and APFSDS shells will allow the new Merkava Mk.2D to easily destroy almost any enemy vehicle in battles.

Naval characteristics, physics and damage model:
Ballistics in naval shells have been corrected - changes have been implemented to the dynamics and speed loss, in accordance with historical data. The effect of air resistance has been fixed. As a result, the flight time has been changed. For the vast majority of shells the flight time has been reduced. Trajectories have become more flat, including according changes to fall angles. Speed loss at distance has been reduced that has resulted in increased armour penetration capabilities of many rounds. Changes affect almost all shells in naval battles, their parameters may be specified further in future. Shells with the most noticeable armour penetration value changes are (first parameter - distance 1,000 meters; second - 15,000 meters):
  • SAP 130 mm/50 B-13: armour penetration increased by ~10-12 mm
  • AP and SAP 180 mm/57 B-1P, B-1K, 152mm/57 B-38: armour penetration increased by ~25-40 mm
  • SAP 127 mm/50 Mk.5: armour penetration increased by ~13-21 mm
  • SAP 152 mm/53 Mk.12: armour penetration increased by ~24-34 mm
  • AP 152 mm/47 Mk.16: armour penetration increased by ~16-29 mm

List of documents on the basis of which the ballistics of the naval shells have been changed.
When specifying ballistics first of all we tried to bring the flight time of the shells and its speed at different distances to the data from the documents listed. On most shells it turned out quite accurately. Absolute accuracy is currently impossible to achieve for objective reasons and limitations in the game engine. In future we plan to bring external ballistics to a more accurate simulation. Currently you can observe differences in the angles of incidence with shells for historical ones. This is also due to the limitations of the engine which we will eliminate during development. We also remind you that penetration data from the documents and in-game penetration may differ because in-game penetration is calculated uniformly according to a single formula for all shells and the documentary data may have been obtained in different ways: theoretical and practical. However the flight time and speed on the trajectory are now much closer to historical (and for many shells almost completely coincide) than they were before.
  • 283mm/54.5 SK C/34 — Shell velocity dynamics that caused armour penetration to be lowered and flight time to be increased has been fixed.
  • One coefficient of the armour penetration on the semi-AP rounds calculation has been fixed, resulting in a slight armour piercing value rise.
  • Admiral Graf Spee - ship’s armour has been corrected: the thickness on extremities and decks. The deck traverse has been separated into two plates of different thicknesses.
  • Parizhskaya Kommuna - the dynamics of sinking and the behavior of the ship when flooding has been fixed. The ship no longer capsizes when losing buoyancy up to 60-80%
  • USS Raleigh, USS Trenton - a model of fuel tanks has been added in the area of the ammunition room of the aft turrets of the main battery.
  • USS Pensacola - the location of the central artillery post and the location of the aft ammunition stowages for secondary and anti-aircraft artillery have been changed.
  • HMS Liverpool, HMS Southampton - armour has been added under the barbettes of the main caliber guns.
  • USS Northampton - elevators have been added for the secondary guns.
  • M-17 - the internal geometry of the bow section of the ship has been fixed for the correct calculation of the received damage.
Naval Visual models and visual parts:
  • MPK pr.12412 - the mounted rescue boat has been removed during a battle session.
  • HMS Blackpool - incorrect display of torpedoes inside of the torpedo tubes has been fixed.
  • USS Raleigh - incorrect display of the elevator of the aft tower of the main battery in the x-ray has been fixed.
  • USS Pensacola - the shape and dimensions of the fuel tanks have been changed in accordance with the blueprints.
Economy and research
F-84F and Vautour IIA IDF/AF(Premium French aircraft) have been withdrawn from purchase. In future the Vautour IIA will appear as a premium vehicle in Israel’s aircraft tree. Read details in the Developers Diary.
F6F-5N (France) — Moved to a group with the F6F-5.
Seafire F.Mk.XVII and Seafire FR.47 — Have been moved into one group.

  • R3 T106 FA, R3 T20 FA-HS — tricolor camo has been added available for Golden Eagles.
  • New “Road Signs” decorations have been added and are available for purchase with GE.
  • The logic of checking the player’s vehicles for compliance with the condition in a task has been changed for most game tasks about ‘damage, destruction and assist in the destruction of the enemy’ that are used for obtaining camouflages, stickers, decorations, medals, titles, achievements etc. Now the vehicle that has been used for damage or destroying the enemy will be checked and not the one that the player was controlling at the moment of the event (damage, destruction and assist). For example earned on the aircraft achievements from air strikes in ground AB will be counted in the air vehicles even if at the moment the player is already in the tank, but destroys the enemy with an aircraft bomb. Gradu
Interface
  • In battle in the action bar's selection window, each point now has a fixed location. If some actions are missing on the vehicle, then instead of them there will be empty spaces in this menu.
  • A new “Allow empty teams” point has been added In the options menu for creating custom battles that will allow you to start and continue missions without active players and bots in any of the teams.
  • “Bots rank” has been removed from the options menu when creating custom battles. Now vehicles for any chosen bots are determined by the minimum allowed BR and the game session BR (used to determine whether to add long-range airfields. Helipads and other objects of high rank battles) and determined by the maximum allowed BR as it happens in random battles.
  • SAM info cards now contain data on G-tolerance and seeker parameters.
Game mechanics
Scout aircraft in naval battles. The ability to launch a scout aircraft from the ship’s catapult (if it has one) has been added to naval battles. It is necessary to open and install the appropriate modification beforehand. After the start of the battle, the launch of the aircraft becomes available after a specific time. To launch, activate the catapult (default "U"), point it outboard and launch the aircraft (default "U"). During flight, you can switch between the aircraft and the ship. As long as the player controls the aircraft the ship will remain on the course it was on at the time of launch. The ship will fire in accordance with the set shooter AI mode. If the ship is destroyed while controlling the aircraft the flight will end after a while. In addition to aerial fighting, scouting aircraft can:
  • Capture points
  • Drop bombs
  • Deploy a smoke screen at altitudes of up to 50m
  • Perform long-range scouting

War Thunder - CyberStonka

Hello everyone! Today we would like to talk about changes that we plan for the premium aircraft of the Vautour series in the French tech tree, as well as the versions of this jet bomber for the Israeli air force, which will be tested in the Winged Lions update.
Vautour IIA
In the Winged Lions update, the premium Vautour IIA IDF/AF will be hidden in the French air force tech tree for players who do not already own this aircraft. All Vautour IIA IDF/AF owners will, of course, keep the aircraft in their hangars. If you were planning to purchase this particular version for the French Air Forces, we advise you to do it as soon as possible, since the update is almost ready for release.

In the Israeli Air Force lineup, a researchable version of the Vautour IIA will be added, which, unlike the French Vautour IIA, is equipped with Shafrir air-to-air missiles (the Israeli version of the AIM-9B Sidewinder missile), and therefore is much better adapted to air combat. It should be noted that these missiles can be equipped with or without a set of bombs in 250, 360 and 500 kg sizes. The flight and technical characteristics, as well as the suspended weapons of the Israeli version, will be similar to the same version from the French Air Force research tree.

We also plan to add a premium version of the aircraft, similar to the Vautour IIA IDF/AF for the Israeli Air Force, but this will happen after the end of the Israeli aviation CBT.
Vautour IIN

To replace the premium Vautour IIA IDF/AF, France will receive a new premium Vautour IIN aircraft as part of the Gaijin store bundle. This version of the aircraft is a two-seater - the co-pilot controls the radar, which has finally appeared on the Vautour. The French Vautour IIN is distinguished by a large variety of guided weapons for its rank, and all weapons have already been researched, purchased and installed on the aircraft. The pilot will be free to choose from guided AA-20 Nord air-to-air missiles (up to four units in different combinations with other weapons), as well as guided AS-20 Nord air-to-surface missiles (up to four units) and the much heavier AS -30 Nord, with an explosive weight in the warhead of more than 115 kg in TNT equivalent. You can mount no more than two of these deadly missiles and also use them in combination with other guided and unguided weapons. For air battles and the destruction of helicopters, the rapid-firing 30mm DEFA 552 cannons installed in the nose will also be very useful.

The Vautour IIN will also be added as a researchable aircraft to the Israel Air Force lineup. There is no advanced French guided weapons here, but the entire amount of unguided weapons is still available: bombs with a total weight of up to 3,600 kg, as well as SNEB type 23 rockets and the more powerful T10 140. To defeat air targets, the Israeli Vautour IIN can be equipped with up to four units of the domestic air-to-air missiles Shafrir.

War Thunder - CyberStonka

The Kfir C.7 was an Israeli fighter-bomber, a descendant of the well-known French Mirage fighter and equipped with the powerful J79 turbojet engine.
Kfir C.7, jet fighter, Israel, rank VII
Features:
  • Top speed over Mach 2
  • Excellent agility
  • Highly versatile
  • Large number of suspended weapon options
History
[expand]Immediately after the Six-Day-War, France imposed an arms export embargo on Israel, acutely highlighting the nation’s dependence on foreign suppliers of military equipment. Despite the embargo, Israel managed to obtain documentation for the Mirage 5J version, which was developed specifically for the Israeli Air Force before the ban. These aircraft were produced commercially under the name IAI Nesher. But due to the end of supplies from France, Israel turned to the U.S. for assistance, procuring a number of new F-4 Phantom II and A-4 Skyhawk aircraft for its air force. However, when the air force compared the Nesher with the new F-4 Phantom, it realized that the Mirage was falling behind in several aspects. Therefore, plans to outfit Neshers with licence-built Phantom II engines - the General Electric J79 - were drawn up and soon afterward realized with the Kfir (Hebrew for “Lion Cub”).

Entering serial production in 1975 and subsequently being commissioned into service with the 101st, 113th and 109th squadrons of the Israeli Air Force, the Kfir first saw combat action in November 1977. While the aircraft performed well and was also well-liked by its pilots, the modification did increase the weight of the aircraft, negatively impacting some of its flight characteristics. Israeli engineers solved the issue by outfitting the Kfir with fixed canards on the forward section of the fuselage.

The Kfir C.7 is a later modification of the aircraft, resulting from continuous efforts of Israeli engineers to further develop the Kfir. The new version featured numerous improvements, including a more powerful afterburner, increased payload and weapon selection as well as new avionics and cockpit arrangement. The Kfir C.7 entered service in 1983 and would remain in active service until the early 1990’s before being officially decommissioned by the Israeli Air Force. Subsequently, some units were sold on the export market to Columbia and Sri Lanka where they saw active combat during the Sri Lankan Civil War.[/expand]

In War Thunder, the Kfir C.7 will be one of the top aircraft awaiting pilots at rank VII of the upcoming Israeli aviation branch. Despite its similarities with the french Mirage 5 (which will also be added to the game), the Kfir C.7 features a whole range of modifications not only differentiating it from its distant relative but also making it a powerful and highly versatile jet fighter bomber. Let’s hear more about it, shall we?

Unlike the Mirage 5, the Kfir C.7 is fitted with the extremely powerful General Electric J79-GE-J1E turbojet engine, also found on the F-4 Phantom II, which is capable of generating impressive top speed of 2,440 km/h at an altitude of 11,000 meters, and rocket-like climb rate of 230 m/s at the sea level. Furthermore, the Kfir’s delta wing and fixed canards above the engine air intakes give the aircraft exceptionally good maneuverability while also ensuring adequate stability at lower speeds of flight.

Being a fighter bomber by design, the Kfir C.7 features a wide weapons arsenal, suited both for strike operations and aerial combat. Possessing a payload of up to 5,775 kg, spread across numerous hardpoints underneath the fuselage and wings, Kfir C.7 can be equipped with a vast assortment of different weapon types, including unguided bombs, rockets and 20 mm gunpods. Packing a pair of rapid-firing 30mm DEFA cannons already familiar to most seasoned French aviators, the Kfir can easily take down its opponents with a short, well-aimed burst. However, this by far isn’t the only weapon the Kfir brings to a dogfight. The aircraft can also be outfitted with up to four air-to-air missiles Shafrir-2, AIM-9D and AIM-9G.

The Kfir C.7 will soon become available to all pilots at the top of the upcoming Israeli aviation branch, arriving into War Thunder with the release of the next major update. In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to the news to catch all the latest information about the upcoming update. Until then, clear skies and happy hunting pilots!
