Each year, Canadians celebrate the anniversary of their nation becoming an independent confederation of the United Kingdom after the three separate British colonies of ‘Canada’, ‘Nova Scotia’, and ‘New Brunswick’ united to form a single dominion on 1 July 1867.

Often referred to as “Canada’s birthday”, and generally celebrated on the 1st of July (except when it would fall on a Sunday, in which case, it is observed on the 2nd of July) Canada Day marks an important milestone for the country on its way to full independence. While it, at that stage, remained a British colony, the subsequent increased level of political and governmental control allowed it to gain increasing independence in the following years, continuing up until it became completely independent in 1982.

Canada Day is celebrated across the country with various activities, including outdoor parades, carnivals, gatherings, festivals shows, concerts and fireworks. Now, it is time to participate in those celebrations in War Thunder!

All updates and fixes in War Thunder now show after login on arrival in the hangar, like our major update changes! You won’t miss a single important update!

Tracks in the hit camera



Some time ago we implemented “physically-accurate caterpillar tracks” where they responded in detail to external factors in War Thunder. At the same time the tracks on vehicles with new mechanics simply disappeared from the animation in the hit camera (although they were correctly taken into account in the penetration calculation).

We have corrected this unfortunate omission and now the new tracks will be correctly displayed in the hit camera.

Erratic Missiles



You may have noticed that missiles fired by other players were behaving strangely in flight. They flew sideways or twitched strangely. This problem was purely a visual one. In reality the missiles behaved correctly and the bug didn't affect the hit probability or damage in any way.

We have corrected the behavior of guided missiles for the outside observer. Now the flight looks correct!

Capturing the sun with a seeker



You know the main disadvantage of an IR seeker, right? Its favourite target is the sun to which they eagerly switch at every opportunity. Nevertheless this peculiarity should not appear if you just have looked at the sun through a pilot's eyes and not of the seeker itself.

This is exactly how the bug was manifested. It reproduced the capture signal if you looked through the freeview camera at the sun. A missile could be launched also in this case. We have fixed this strange behavior but we still don’t recommend looking at the sun directly - it hurts!

"Friend-or-foe” in the commander's sight

Recognizing the enemy in the gunner's crosshairs in Simulation Battles has been working for a long time. A few seconds of waiting and the gunner will tell you if there are allies at the specified coordinates.

Exactly the same mechanics were added to the new commander's sights which recently appeared in many vehicles. Similar functionality and just as high in usefulness. Take advantage of it.

Shell tracking camera has been improved



In the “Red Skies” update we added a useful shell tracking feature for a ship’s cannons - for easier targeting to better understand shell ballistics and simply as a spectacular sight to see how your magnificent shot destroys the enemy.

In this digest we report that we have qualitatively improved certain aspects of camera behavior. It will now show the firing results more clearly and more widely and return “home” faster. Enjoy!

Shell cards in the module window

Missiles and other ordnance cards will now be displayed when you move your cursor over it, even if the modification itself hasn’t yet been researched or purchased. Useful if you haven’t yet thoroughly researched all the weapons present in War Thunder.

  • Rooikat 105 TD, Rooikat MTTD — the number of steering axles has been reduced. First and second axles steer now (fourth was previously steered incorrectly).
  • M56 — recoil has been reduced.
  • M60A2 — a bug has been fixed with excessive repair time of the turret machine gun.
  • Сhieftain Mk.10, Challenger Mk.2, Challenger Mk.3 — elevation speed has been increased from 4.5 to 22.5 degrees (report).

  • Sd.Kfz. 6/2 — a bug has been fixed that prevented the selection of the second type of the HEIT round in the protection analysis.
  • Challenger 2 (2F), Challenger 2, Т-80БВМ, Т-72А, Т-34-85, Tiger H1, Leopard 2A5 — a bug with tracks turning while the turret turned in the hit camera has been fixed.
  • AMX-13 (HOT) — HOT missiles displayed correctly in flight and will not now fly sideways.
  • Strv 103 — removed excessive gun traverse after installing the engine modification.
  • T-80BVM — Armour has been fixed. It is now impossible to damage the tank with low powered HE shells.
  • KV-1S — Bugs related to the armour which, in some cases caused, shells to ignore the armour at high angles by a causing double ricochet, have been fixed.
  • Bugs in the operation of volumetric shells which,in some rare cases, could cause anomalous penetration into overlapping bulk armour joints have been fixed.
  • A bug, where shells hitting a target at large angles could cause damage to some tank modules while ignoring the armour, has been fixed.
Aircraft model, damage model, characteristic and weaponry changes:
  • A bug has been fixed, that caused a seeker to lock on target when pointing an observation camera at the sun. Missile launch was also possible, which led to missile self-destruct.
  • A bug has been fixed that displayed HE round explosives weight in the info card when selecting AP rounds for auto cannons.
  • A bug has been fixed that prevented automatic target tracking in helicopters at certain areas of the location “Normandy” in missions “Normandy” and “Fields of Normandy”.
  • Wellington (all series) — 1,000 lbs bomb has been replaced from AN-M65A1 to G.P.MK1 (report).
  • Ju 288C — display of the incorrect material of the pilot's seats armour has been fixed.
  • J-7E — a bug has been fixed, when the modification “Type 500” was not required for 500 kg bomb presets.
  • F-1 — display of the icons in the suspended weapon menu has been fixed, icons are now set to the standard.

  • Shell tracking camera behavior has been improved:
    • Camera return speed has been increased;
    • Viewing angle has been increased;
    • Camera stopping distance before shells hit the target has been reduced.
  • Erich Giese — Ship’s name in the research tree has been aligned with the general rule: Z12 Erich Giese (report).
  • SMS Westfalen — Armour thickness of armour deck, bevels and anti-torpedo bulkhead have been corrected.
  • RN Zara — Traverse angles of the first and fourth main calibre turrets have been increased: ±145° → ±150°.

  • The counting of the “Atlas Stones” achievement has been fixed (for the Battle Pass).
  • Camera speed in replays no longer depends on the selected playback speed(report).

  • In the “Training squadron” creation window you can now navigate through the interface elements using a keyboard arrows or the gamepad D-pad.
  • A bug that caused the blocked crew icon to remain red in some cases after a lock has been released has been fixed.
  • Now in the battle log it will be specified how the player’s vehicle was destroyed (by machine gun, shell, explosion, torpedo, etc).

  • Mi-28N, Ka-52 — S-13DF missile has been changed to S-13OF with the А-IX-2 explosives weight equal to 6.9 kg. An incorrect calculation of TNT equivalent required for striking armoured targets has been corrected that led to an ammunition type change for balance reasons.
  • RS-82, RS-132 rockets, Rb05A missile — missing overpressure damage has been fixed.
  • The radius of shockwaves has been recalculated. The damage radius has been set according to the peak value of the shockwave’s frontal pressure. For vehicles with an open fighting compartment, the threshold values have been set to 100 kPa to result in an unconditional crew knock out, and 30 kPa as a minimal value to damage the crew.
  • Leopard-2PL — turret armour has been additionally specified, a bug which resulted in a sharp drop in armour durability over the area of combined armour screen on the turret has been fixed.
  • ZTZ96A — Turret armour has been fixed. Previously, its protection was slightly lower than the ZTZ96.
  • Т-55АМ-1, Т-62М-1 — A bug where the resistance of the combined armour on the frontal upper armour plate against the APCR shells has been overestimated (470 mm → 450 mm) hsa been fixed.
  • The damage Model on the machine gun ball mount and mechanic driver’s visor flaps on some vehicles has been fixed. Previously in some situations armour resistance of these areas might be overestimated when fired at armour plate joints. Vehicle list:

Detection through the smoke



Often using a smoke screen is only the way to survive and it’s a shame if you find loopholes in it. Thanks to your bug reports we spotted one of them which appeared after the major update and allowed illumination of the outline of an enemy ground vehicle even through smoke in AB game mode.

It’s already fixed! Now the smoke will reliably hide your vehicle from detection as before and you can use it confidently!

Objects disappearing in night vision devices



This problem might have been observed by owners of the T-90A that has the “Shtora-1” system installed together with a night vision device. During the joint operation of a night vision device and a laser warning system in night battles at a certain angle, objects such as rocks and even pillboxes might disappear!

The “Shtira-1” is a great system that is worth researching on the T-90A but such an "X-ray" is not on the list of its legitimate features so we fixed the disappearance of objects. We are sure that this will not affect the effectiveness of the vehicle with its menacing look.

3rd person gun aiming failure



The next problem covers a much larger circle of tankers and manifests itself in a complete refusal to control your cannon when using 3rd person view. This unpleasant effect could be achieved by switching between different observation modes: binoculars, gunner view and commander view that appeared on many vehicles in the “Red Skies” update.

So now, we are bringing you back to full battle capability. The bug has been found and fixed!

Damage model change

In this update we fixed an annoying issue with the calculation of armour penetration in the cases of combined and layered armour when a projectile hits a joint of several plates, or in the area between ERA blocks. In reality, of course, ERA is not able to provide appropriate protection. But the issue was, that in such cases the calculated protection was even lower than those of passive armour behind the ERA elements. As a result, the upper front plate of many vehicles featured odd ‘gaps’ in small areas. The issue affected many vehicles with combined armour, especially Soviet MBTs. It’s fixed now! We’ve also fixed the armour penetration issue of HE rounds of small calibre, when their explosive parameters were obviously lower than the thickness of the armour at the hit point.

A new format for keeping your configuration files

We’d like to share with you some really good news concerning an infrastructure change that improves the game’s stability and reduces required RAM resources. Recently, we moved to a new format for storing configuration files. This change saves up to 200 MB of RAM, which is especially important for consoles, as well as weaker PCs in long and intense gaming sessions

Exit freeze



In some situations, a client might stop responding when leaving battle. Once again, thanks to your complete bug reports on our forums, we’ve managed to discover the reason and solve this issue. Thank you very much! Most fixes like this one are only possible thanks to your assistance with error reports.

Cards for special weaponry



If you suddenly forgot what characteristics a particular type of ammo has you can find out more about it right in battle by hovering over the shell icon in the action bar (list of ammunition and vehicle capabilities at the bottom of the screen).

In this update we have also added this handy card for rocket driven weapons on your armoured vehicles and ships. Additionally, you can find the amount in one salvo and the total ammunition amount for a vehicle on the indicator of smoke grenades. Try it out!

A little more improvement for distance rendering

In a previously published It’s fixed! №2 we had fixed disappearing ground vehicles for aircraft at distances greater than 1 kilometer. But in some locations with difficult terrain the problem might sometimes be repeated.

Thanks to your reports, we found many such places and fixed the display of the vehicles in them.

New flares



In the rare night battles you definitely noticed the “drops” from command falling from the sky - flares that help to detect the enemy even if your vehicle doesn’t have a night vision device. But we noticed your comments that the illumination from these projectiles wasn’t enough for the entire battlefield which caused some problems, for example when driving from respawn points.

Accepted. New deliveries will use higher power illumination charges with a significantly larger illumination area from this update.

Improved gear selection when driving uphill



In the previous “It’s fixed” digest we described work on the logic of selecting the right gear for downhill and uphill gear change. Downhill was fine but in travelling uphill we could see some weird moves - the driver might try to shift into a higher gear which was wrong because the vehicle didn’t have enough power on such hills.

We have sent the drivers to the academy and now they will be better at selecting gear when going uphill on a regular incline.

Correct operation of the throttle



You probably got used to the fact that switching to wep mode and leaving it in an aircraft is done by a short press of the increase or decrease thrust button. It is convenient and understandable. Unfortunately, this mechanism broke and switching to normal 100% thrust suddenly became difficult.

We put everything back the way it was. It is now easy again to switch WEP on and off with a short press on the thrust control button as before.

Modifying virtual reality (VR)

We continue on working to improve the performance in the game of VR headsets. This time we have fixed the double image in the mirrors of aircraft, the disappearance of some objects in the right lens of your headset and the vignette of the AGM-65 Maverick missiles, which wasn’t moving in the view.

We are continuing to work on fixing bugs in War Thunder VR mode and would like to thank all players who have reported issues to us they have found in VR mode.

  • B-29, Tu-4 — nuclear weapon carriers now spawn in the air over the airfield. Flight time before the bomb is dropped has been reduced from 2 minutes 30 seconds to 1 minute 50 seconds, depending on the distance between the airfield and a drop point.
  • P-43A-1 — an incorrect carrier respawn for this type has been revoked.
  • “Red Angel” rocket — explosive mass has been corrected to 39 kg (report).
  • Sea Venom FAW 20 — a second radar display has been added.
  • AH-1G — mounted 20mm М195 gun now has selectable ammo belts.
  • Mi-24P (Germany), Mi-24P HFS 80, Mi-24V, Mi-24D, Mi-24P, Mi-28N, Ka-29, Ka-50, Ka-52 — mounted 23mm GSh-23L guns now have selectable ammo belts.
  • PB4Y-2 Privateer — 1,000 lbs Mk-13 Mod 0 mine has been added.
  • Buccaneer S.2 — a bug has been fixed that prevented the aircraft from entering a battle due to lack of the offensive armament (report).
Ground vehicle model, damage model, characteristic and weaponry changes:
  • Strv 104, Warrior — added option for entering range data from the laser rangefinder to the sight.
  • T-80U — a bug with the incorrect display of components of the turret combined armour in the x-ray mode has been fixed.
  • ZPRK 2S6 — fixed a bug with the missing commander’s IR searchlight after researching the modification 2S6M1.
  • Cromwell V RP-3, BM-8-24, Calliope, M26 (T99), 15 cm Pz.W.42, RBT-5 - overpressure damage has been specified. Damage to rockets outside the hull may not initiate this type of damage.
  • PGZ-04A — fixed a bug preventing missile reloading in Arcade battles. A bug with missing missiles with certain combinations of default, HE and/or AP belts has been fixed as well.
  • TTD — overestimated visibility value has been fixed.
VR
  • Double images in the mirrors in aircraft cockpits have been fixed.
  • Missing objects in the right lens have been fixed.
  • A bug where the vignette of the sight on AGM-65 Maverick missiles wasn’t moving, has been fixed.
The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.

The annual e-Sport event dedicated to victory in World War II is back! We would like to invite teams to the international tournament “Victory Cup” - mixed 5vs5 battles with aviation and ground forces! Participate and watch broadcasts with special prizes for viewers!

Register your team until June 25th (20:59 GMT)
Teams of 7 players (5 main+2 substitutes) participate in the tournament. Registration is held on the TSS portal.

Brief rules
The “Victory Cup” tournament will be held from June 26th until July 5th. Battles and broadcasts will be held in accordance to the schedule on the tournament info page.
  • Mode: Realistic battles with markers.
  • The tournament will be held according to a complete double elimination system.
  • Up to 256 teams are allowed. The maximum number of teams may be increased before registration is over.
  • Vehicles: popular ground and aerial vehicles of ranks III and IV from the following gaming nations: USA, USSR, Britain, France, Germany, Italy.
  • Locations: Berlin, Poland, Normandy, Sinai, Advance to the Rhine, Eastern Europe, Karelia.
All teams are allowed to take part in “Combat training” tournaments , with similar rules and setups, which will be held on June 17th and June 24th.

From 12:00 GMT on the 11th of June until 07:00 GMT on the 15th of June
Participate in 3 battles with an activity level of 60% or higher while using Soviet vehicles of rank II and above and receive the unique “Heart of Russia” decal!
