Tasks
To get one Star ⭐ you need to perform any 3 tasks from 5 in random battles (in vehicles of rank III or higher or rank II or higher for fleet). The tasks will not change and will be reset every 2 days at 11:00 GMT.
Pilot Star⭐
whilst controlling aircraft (rank III or higher)
  • Destroy 40 enemies in AB (20 in RB, 14 in SB).
  • Win 9 battles (with an activity of 60% or higher).
  • Drop 10 tons of Bomb TNT on enemy bases in total.
  • Destroy 12 enemies in one battle (4 in RB, 2 in SB).
  • Help allies 10 times to destroy enemy vehicles.
Tanker Star ⭐
whilst controlling ground vehicles (rank III or higher)
  • Destroy 50 enemies.
  • Win 11 battles (with an activity of 70% or higher).
  • Capture 15 points in ground battles whilst controlling a ground vehicle or helicopter.
  • Destroy 12 enemies in one battle (6 in RB, 6 in SB).
  • Help allies 25 times to destroy enemy vehicles.
Sailor Star ⭐
whilst controlling naval vessels (rank II or higher)
  • Cause 30,000 damage whilst controlling a naval vessel.
  • Win 9 battles (with an activity of 50% or higher).
  • Capture 7 points in naval battles whilst controlling a vessel or aircraft.
  • Destroy 5 enemies with torpedoes whilst controlling a vessel or aircraft.
  • Finish the battle in first place in naval battles.
You can purchase Stars ⭐ with Golden Eagles without even completing a task until January the 14th 2021 in the menu: Nickname → Achievements → Operation W.I.N.T.E.R. → Tasks for tankers/pilots/sailors

Detailed terms
  • To receive a Star ⭐ you need to complete any 3 tasks from 5 for the respective type of vehicles.
  • You can complete the tasks in random battles (excluding “Enduring Confrontation” and “Assault”) in vehicles of rank III or higher (rank II or higher in naval). The exact terms of the achievement can be found in the game client by clicking on your nickname → Achievements → Operation W.I.N.T.E.R..
  • You can follow your progress and see the detailed tasks description by clicking on your nickname → Achievements → Operation W.I.N.T.E.R.
  • A Star ⭐ will be counted as received if the achievements ★ are coloured gold ⭐.
  • Performing tasks must be completed with the destruction, and assistance in the destruction of, player controlled vehicles, NOT AI controlled vehicles.
  • By completing the task “Win 11 times” in combined ground battles, the task will be counted as completed with the type of vehicle in which you finished the battle (ground vehicle or aircraft of the specified rank). By completing the same task in naval battles, the task will always be counted for naval vessels.
  • Missed Stars ⭐ can be purchased in the Achievement window until the 14th of January 2021. Don't make a mistake in choosing between the group of achievements - pilots, tankers and sailors.
  • Prizes received in the form of coupons will be available for trading on the market from 15th of January 2021. The time from which the coupon can be traded can be viewed in the game in the coupon description. The option of trading each coupon separately depends on the time of its receipt and doesn’t depend on the vehicle coupon.
  • From the 23rd of December, PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to exchange decoration and decal coupons for similar ones (you can exchange coupons of the same type). The exchange is available in the “Workshop” - Exchange items “Operation W.I.N.T.E.R.”.

The Buccaneer was a British naval jet strike aircraft, developed by the Blackburn company in the late 1950’s as a replacement for the Supermarine Scimitar. Soon, pilots in War Thunder will have the chance to take control of a variant of the well-known Buccaneer as it arrives in player hangars with the release of the next major update!

In War Thunder, the Buccaneer S.2 is set to arrive in player hangars as part of the next major update and expands the roster of famous British military jet aircraft in our game by another entry. Apart from being a worthy addition to any British pilot’s collection, the Buccaneer has a lot more to offer than pleasing aesthetics as we intend to show you in today’s devblog; so strap yourselves in!





The long-awaited Blackburn Buccaneer S.2 is finally arriving to War Thunder as part of the next major update and will further expand the British high-tier strike aircraft roster. HMS Invincible was the lead ship of her class of three battlecruisers built for the Royal Navy in the late 1900’s and represents the first battlecruiser-type warship ever to be built. Soon, captains will have the chance to take command of HMS Invincible as she becomes one of the first warships of her type to arrive in War Thunder as part of the next major update!

In War Thunder, HMS Invincible will be among the first battlecruisers to become available to British captains in the ranks of the Royal Navy, following the release of the upcoming major update. Unlike full-scale battleships, HMS Invincible represents a ‘middle of the road’ warship design, combining aspects from both cruisers and battleships.





HMS Invincible is expected to dock in player ports with the arrival of the next major War Thunder update and will become available to all captains for research. SMS Von der Tann was a German WWI-era battlecruiser, developed in response to the British Invincible-class and considered as one of the most advanced warships of its time. Actively participating in numerous WWI naval operations, SMS Von der Tann has been readied for war once more as it prepares to join the fight in War Thunder naval battles with the release of the next major update!

In War Thunder, SMS Von der Tann will become the first battlecruiser to join the ranks of the German Navy, following the release of the next major update. Packing a hefty punch with its battleship calibre main guns while possessing good mobility and maintaining adequate protection at the same time, SMS Von der Tann gives captains who value versatility a solid alternative to the early German battleship designs.





The battlecruiser SMS Von der Tann will be docking at player ports with the release of the next major War Thunder update and will become the first ship of its type to join the ranks of the German navy in the game. The A-7D is the USAF version of the A-7 Corsair II naval strike aircraft, developed in the mid 1960s by Ling-Temco-Vought as a replacement for the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. Soon, pilots will have the chance to take control of the successor to the popular Skyhawk as it arrives in War Thunder with the release of the next major update!

In War Thunder, the A-7D Corsair II will be a new jet attacker joining the top rank of the American aviation tree with the release of the next major update, coming to the game in the near future. Building upon the base principles of the A-4 Skyhawk which precedes it, the A-7D Corsair II features improved flight characteristics, but above all, notably improves the aircraft’s firepower through an increased payload.





The A-7D Corsair II will soon become available to all pilots as the new top ranking jet attacker in the American aviation tree, following the release of the next major update coming to War Thunder. Sound
  • Issue with playback of engine over-throttle on opposing/allied ground vehicles. Over-throttle sounds now play only when the player actually presses the throttle pedal.
  • T-72BЗ now has B-92 engine sound (same as the T-90) after mastering the engine modification.
  • Bomb drop sound has been corrected for players in ground vehicles.
  • Diesel turbocharger and turbine engine sounds have been slightly corrected for ground vehicles.
  • Leclerc engine sound has more sound for a turbine, and less sound for a turbocharger.

Sound
  • A bug has been fixed with missing sound and visual effects of hits on the destruction of the player’s ground vehicle.
  • A bug has been fixed with missing sound and visual effects of hits on enemy/allied vehicle hits on enemy/allied ground vehicles.
  • A bug that would cause a bomb flight sound to play for listeners on the ground immediately after a drop, regardless of the drop height.. Now bombs start to sound at distances of about 500 meters.
  • Engine over-throttle sounds on ground vehicles have become shorter. They are quieter on vehicle stop, and louder, when the vehicle starts moving.
  • Diesel engines on Leopard 2, Leclerc, T-90A, Type 90, T-64, now have a turbocharger whistling sound. The turbocharger layer has also been added to the over-throttle sounds.
  • The turbine sounds for turbine engines of player ground vehicles (Abrams, T-80, Leclerc) have been changed in spectral composition to reduce possible discomfort during long playtimes
Fleet characteristics, damage model, and weaponry changes
  • Blue-water torpedo reload time in the naval AB has been increased from 60 to 120 seconds.
  • Mine lifetime has been increased from 180 to 240 seconds.
  • Sverdlov — a bug has been fixed with main caliber gun mantlets at middle distances.

  • Consoles: Exchange tab has been added to the workshop for ‘New Power’ trophy items.

  • IPM1 - an issue with incorrect turret armor resistance in relation to the info card has been fixed.
