The experimental IS-7 was the pinnacle of development in Soviet heavy tank design, and it was significantly ahead of its competitors. Old-school heavy tank, it was the heaviest, most powerful, and well armored Soviet tank in the first half of the 20th century!

In short: a new Soviet rank V heavy tank in the USSR tech tree. Incredibly fast and extremely well armored even against modern shell types, the IS-7 also packs a good punch with its 130mm cannon. 68 tons of pure tank ecstasy await all participants of our summer marathon!

The development of this advanced Soviet heavy tank began in early 1945. Several outstanding scientific groups got involved with the work at once, and the new vehicle was supposed to combine all the latest developments and a great deal of military experience in the design of heavy tanks. After creating several prototypes and experimenting with the engine, armament, and suspension, a steel giant was born and christened Object 260, with the letter designation IS-7. Weighing 68 tons, the heavy tank was equipped with a naval diesel engine that took the monster up to a fantastic 60 km/h. The tank was armed with a powerful 130 mm rifled cannon with mechanized first-order ammo racks and an amazing eight machine guns: two high-calibre 14.5 mm KPVs (one twinned with the cannon and the other an anti-air gun) and six 7.62 mm RP-46 machine guns The armor of the IS-7 is its main feature with high protection value, along with a range of advanced technological solutions, some of which were successfully used on more modern tanks.

Overall, the IS-7 is worth fighting for. It’s a powerful, balanced and sensible heavy tank to play that brings the spirit of the old school to the battlefield of more modern tanks. Never show your back to the enemy, aim carefully and your IS-7 will always be among the best on the leaderboard! See you in battle!

Dear players, as you know with the launch of the Market in the game the possibility of installing custom camouflages for ground vehicles and aircraft that are visible to other players has been given. They are conditionally divided into three types:
  • Historical - recreated on the basis of photographic evidence of real existing camouflages.
  • Semi-historical - vehicle camouflages which could have existed at the time.
  • Any - including a fictional camouflage style.
We respect the choice of players who prefer the authenticity design of the vehicle, so in addition to this the option which allows a choice of displaying a historical level of camouflage has been added to War Thunder. This option affects the display of not only those camouflages that were created by players but also those that were added from the developers, for example those that were given out during the “Thunder League” tournament.

In the near future the option “Vehicle customization” will include decals. Now with this function you can choose whether to display only historical decals and inscriptions or also allow the display of event decals, like footballs.

Choose War Thunder options that are exactly for you.

Briefly: One of the unique hydrofoil gunboats currently available in the naval closed beta. The craft features excellent speed and maneuverability as well as an intimidating array of heavy weaponry.

The USS Tucumcari is an American prototype hydrofoil gunboat developed in the late 1960s as a testbed for evaluation of new hydrofoil technologies.

The USS Tucumcari, named after the city in New Mexico, was a hydrofoil boat developed by the Boeing company in the late 1960s to test a decade’s worth of hydrofoil research and development. She was a true state-of-the-art ship, sporting the latest in hydrofoil technology, electronics and a powerful gas turbine engine. All of this granted the ship an excellent top speed and maneuverability, whilst also allowing it to seamlessly traverse even rough waters. USS Tucumcari was delivered and commissioned to the U.S. Navy in March 1968.

The USS Tucumcari is already waiting for eager captains at the dock in the closed beta testing of War Thunder naval forces. We’ll see you at sea, captains!

biggest-steam-games-2018

We’ve just passed the half-way point of 2018, so Ian Gatekeeper and all his fabulously wealthy chums over at Valve have revealed which hundred games have sold best on Steam over the past six months. It’s a list dominated by pre-2018 names, to be frank, a great many of which you’ll be expected, but there are a few surprises in there.

2018 releases Jurassic World Evolution, Far Cry 5 Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Warhammer: Vermintide II are wearing some spectacular money-hats, for example, while the relatively lesser-known likes of Raft, Eco and Deep Rock Galactic have made themselves heard above the din of triple-A marketing budgets. They thought it was all over…..the celebration of football continues!

From now until 09:00 GMT on the 9th of July
Show everyone how to score goals in the new event "Tank Football"! Play football and get a unique decal - a fiery ball!

Tank sport model variants have been especially designed for Tank football. From what could previously be considered an armoured monster, we now have a real sporting machine: a lightweight body construction comprising of special alloys, a tuned racing chassis, and of course, a turbocharged engine. These vehicles are capable of powerful boosts thanks to their special muzzle brake compensator construction!

Initially, the muzzle brake compensator “Munchausen” was designed to allow armoured vehicles to overcome ditches, walls and water obstacles, but it was not introduced into service as it did not allow the use of traditional shells. Because of this, the Global Tank Football Association adopted it specifically for competitive matches.

The use of such a muzzle brake together with a special powder charge allows the tank to impart a large impulse in the direction of the cannon. Use this opportunity for spectacular strikes, intercepting the ball and also for overturning any opponents.

Briefly: A fast and deadly Soviet torpedo boat design of rank II of the German naval tree, equipped with rapid-firing autocannons and four torpedo launchers.

The Project 206, also known under the NATO reporting name as the “Shershen-class”, was a class of Soviet Cold War-era torpedo boats developed in the late 1950s as a replacement for the Project 183 “Bolshevik”. The new Project 206 was designed with similar principles in mind as the Bolshevik, those being cheap production costs and easy maintenance. Furthermore, the Project 206 torpedo boats, similarly to the design that preceded it, were meant to be used close to the shoreline and in fair weather.

The first boat of the class was completed and commissioned with the Soviet Navy in 1960. Three Soviet shipyards produced the Project 206-class torpedo boats in USSR, but few of them have been delivered to Yugoslavia in parts and their assembly was carried out on place by Yugoslav workers. The Project 206-class torpedo boats were used by, beside the Soviet Navy, Eastern Germany, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Vietnam, North Korea and several other nations using only a small number of vessels. The Project 206 was mostly decommissioned from active service with most operators by the 1990s, although Egypt and Vietnam still used some Project 206s in the 2000s.

Always wanted to deliver death and destruction to your enemies at breakneck speeds? The Project 206 can make it happen and it’s already waiting for you in the closed beta testing of War Thunder naval forces!

The Kanonenboot K-2 is a gunboat initially laid down by the Dutch in the late 1930’s for their navy, but was later captured, finished and used by the German Kriegsmarine during WW2 and it was the Germans who named it “Type K”. The K-2 will be one of the higher ranking German vessels awaiting War Thunder captains in the closed beta testing of naval forces.

Briefly: A 1930s Dutch gunboat design used by the German Kriegsmarine during WW2. The ship offers good firepower and survivability at the expense of mobility.

The K-class gunboats were ordered as a replacement to the outdated Dutch Brinio-class gunboats that preceded them. Originally, seven ships of the class were planned to be constructed, three of which were ordered and laid down right away. However, the German occupation of the Netherlands in 1940 abruptly ended the construction of the already laid down ships, with pending orders for the remaining ships getting cancelled. Following the occupation, all three uncompleted warships were captured after falling into German hands.

Meet the Kanonenboot K-2 in the naval closed beta testing and wreak havoc on the seven seas of War Thunder! Captains, man your battlestations!
