War Thunder - TheShaolinMonk

War Thunder!!

Germany did not share its latest military technology with its Italian allies, so Italy decided to create its very own torpedo boat. And so the famous Motosiluranti motorized torpedo boats were created.

In 1941, when Italy needed torpedo boats and their German allies were in no hurry to share their latest technology, the Italian military decided to develop their own boats based on the German Lürssen torpedo boats in service with the Royal Yugoslav Navy and obtained by the Italians as a trophy after that navy’s defeat. The Italians were able to copy the profile of the German boats’ hulls, while the powertrain and armament were replaced with Italian versions. The new torpedo boats were perfectly serviceable – almost immediately after testing the initial production run of 18 boats, the fleet placed an order for 18 more, on the condition that the shipbuilders fix the flaws revealed in the course of the tests. The MS series torpedo boats (Motosiluranti – motorized torpedo boats) saw many battles. During World War II, they went up against the naval forces of the Allies, and after the war they remained in service until the 80s. In the course of multiple developments and redevelopments, the armament and design of the boats changed – apart from torpedo boats, there were also artillery versions, transport versions, landing models and even a version designed to carry explosive boats.

The MS74 2A is an excellent torpedo boat in the lower ranks: no terrible flaws, only excellent advantages! This very boat will introduce War Thunder players to small Italian ships in the upcoming testing session for the Italian naval forces. Get involved in the fleet! See you soon!

We are pleased to present the French MB.157 fighter, the most advanced aircraft among the Marcel-Bloch series. In addition, meet a new French pilot model in War Thunder!

The engineers of the Marcel-Bloch aviation design company envisioned a fighter equipped with the new powerful air-cooled Gnôme-Rhône 14R engine as early as 1939. Initially, the engine was intended for installation on the airframe of the MB.152 fighter, but the weight and dimensions of the engine required the fuselage to be significantly redesigned. With the beginning of MB.155 fighter mass production design works were concentrated on adapting its airframe for this highly promising engine. However, the capitulation of France and German occupation prevented the work on the MB.157 from being finished. In spite of the fact that the Dewoitine D.520 was selected as the main fighter of occupied France’s Air Force, French command expressed interest in creating a competitor to the Dewoitine. The interrupted work on the MB.157 was resumed, and soon a prototype of a new fighter with the GR.14 engine was built. In flight tests, attended by executive officers of the Luftwaffe, the MB.157 amazed observers by reaching speeds of over 700 km/h at a high altitude. German military experts decided to carefully study the finished prototypes and forced France to give the MB.157 to the Luftwaffe. It soon emerged that in spite of its impressive speed, the fighter wasn’t ready for mass production due to partial breakdowns in the turbocharger and engine, along with a low rate of climb to the heights where the MB.157 could fully unleash its potential speed.

Alongside this excellent fighter, we’re bringing you a new pilot model for French piston-engined airplanes. This fierce fellow in his breathing mask has arrived in War Thunder and is here to stay!

The Farman F.222 is an early 1930s French high-winged heavy bomber, powered by four engines set up in an unconventional push-pull configuration. This very unique aircraft will be the first of its kind to be introduced into War Thunder with the upcoming 1.73 update.

The design concept of the Farman F.220 bomber dates back to 1925, when the pusher-pull configuration, that would be used on the aircraft, was proven for the first time on the F.211 as a working concept. Several years later, in the early 1930s, the first prototype of the F.220 took to the skies on 26 May 1932. Following the successful testing, Farman made several improvements to the design, whilst selling off the design of the first prototype to a French civilian airline company. The resulting F.221 received several changes compared to the initial prototype, such as improved tail fins, enclosed gunner positions and different engines. The successful maiden flight of the F.221 was followed by a manufacturing order of ten machines for the French Air Force, all of which were delivered by 1936. Further improvements eventually led to the F.222, which at its core, was just an F.221 with a retractable undercarriage and improved engines which entered service the French Air Force in 1937. This version would be considered the definitive production version of the aircraft’s series, with a total of over 30 aircraft produced, across multiple versions.

Meet the extraordinary Farman F.222.2 heavy French four engined bomber in War Thunder’s upcoming 1.73 update. Until then, keep an eye on our news to find out what’s else in store for the next major update to War Thunder! Clear prop!
