The T1 Type Motor Torpedo Boat is a standard representative of the mosquito fleet, possessing all the defensive and offensive capabilities that one might expect of her tier.

Do not expect anything too special from the T1 Type Motor Torpedo Boat. However, she does make for a decent beginning level boat for the Imperial Japanese Navy and is capable of undertaking any assignments at her tier. A pair of turrets with 7.7mm machine guns work well against lightweight enemy boats and aircraft. For larger targets, she has two 457mm torpedoes capable of delivering 110 kg of explosives to a distance of up to four kilometres. Anyone tailing the T1 will quickly make the acquaintance of her Type 95 depth charges. Although it won’t be easy, the boat is equipped with three petrol engines (two primary and one cruising engine) with a total of 1,860 horsepower, and can reach speeds of over 38 knots, making her a difficult target.

With update 1.89, you will be able to take to the seas on the T1 Type Motor Torpedo Boat and begin your exploration of the Imperial Japanese Navy!

The Douglas A2D-1 Skyshark was created as part of a concept to replace the piston-engine AD-1 Skyraider with a more modern and powerful turboprop model.

Despite the fact that the Douglas A2D-1 Skyshark never made it into mass production in reality, players will have the opportunity to experience this “Shark” in combat in the 1.89 update.

Externally, the aircraft looks large and clunky. However, it’s a deceptive misconception. Twin turboprop engines provide 5,500 horsepower, allowing the vehicle to reach speeds of about 800 km/h near the ground and more than 770 km/h at medium altitudes. To harness this power and eliminate the harmful effects of torque on the aircraft, it was decided to use counter-rotating propellers.

The Douglas A2D-1 Skyshark will be the first American aircraft in the game with a contra-rotating propeller and a turboprop engine. It will be a rank IV premium US aircraft. After 1.89 “Imperial Navy”, the Wyvern will no longer be the only aircraft to strike fear into the hearts of ground forces hearing its sound.

In update “Imperial Navy” we will add two new locations to the game - the aircraft location “Smolensk” and a naval location “Volcanic Island”.

Location : Volcanic Island

The naval location “Volcanic Island” - is an archipelago of small rocky islands concentrically diverging from the centre of the location where there is one of the capture points. Inspiration for this map was taken from the seascape, rocks, vegetation and nature around New Zealand.

Location : Smolensk

The location for aircraft battles “Smolensk” has been created on with reference to aerial photography of Smolensk and its environs in autumn 1941. Here, during the Battle of Smolensk, even with the high cost in human and material losses for the Red Army, it was possible to disrupt the “Barbarossa” plan and to prevent the breakthrough of the German army towards Moscow.

Mutsuki was the lead ship of her class of twelve destroyers laid down for the Imperial Japanese Navy during the 1920s. Having participated in numerous operations in the Pacific theatre, Mutsuki is now set to arrive in War Thunder with the long-awaited introduction of the Japanese naval forces, coming with update 1.89 "Imperial Navy"!

Mutsuki’s primary armament consists of four 120mm Type 3 cannons spread across single shielded mounts along the length of the ship. Although the mounts feature excellent firing angles, the guns, with their 6 rounds/min rate of fire, shoot relatively slowly when compared to similar vessels of other nations already present in the game. Additionally, Mutsuki only has two single rifle caliber machine guns acting as anti-air defense, leaving it highly susceptible to air attack if isolated from its allies.

Mutsuki arrives in War Thunder as the first destroyer of the much anticipated Japanese naval forces tree, coming to the game as part of update 1.89 "Imperial Navy". Until then, be sure to stay tuned to the news for more information regarding the next major update coming to the game! Happy hunting and calm seas, captains!

The Stormer HVM was the pinnacle of armoured vehicle and AA armament development by the UK. A close range anti-aircraft missile system on a mobile platform is an ideal combination to cover the ground troops.

In the mid 1980’s it became clear that supersonic aircraft and strike helicopters proved to be dangerous against ground troops. To counter these threats back in 1986, the British Ministry of Defence began development of the “Starstreak HVM” (High Velocity Missile) anti-aircraft missile system. The production was done by the Shorts Missile Systems company. On the 1st of September in 1997, the famous Starstreak anti-aircraft missile system had been put into service by the British Army. Initially it was developed in 3 different variants: portable, stationary and mobile, although later they additionally developed an air version but it didn’t find a practical application.

Are you tired of annoying pilots that like to target tankers? The Stormer HVM will be the worthy and long-awaited answer to any air threat! Try the new technology of these missiles soon in War Thunder update 1.89 "Imperial Navy"!

The F.6 is devoid of the shortcomings of its predecessors, an improved fighter modification of the Hawker Hunter jet fighter, which joined the ranks of the RAF in the mid ‘50s. Fans of British aviation will not only rejoice the addition of this highly requested aircraft to War Thunder as part of update 1.89 “Imperial Navy”, but will also look forward to the unique missile armament that comes with it!

With the availability of the more powerful Rolls-Royce Avon 200 series engines in the early 1950s, the Hawker company began developing a new modification of their Hunter jet fighter, which would eventually result in the creation of the Hunter F.6 - one of the last dedicated fighter modifications of this aircraft.

We bet you can’t wait for the release of update 1.89 “Imperial Navy” to try out the Hunter F.6 for yourself, along with its deadly new air-to-air missile complement - it will be destined to become a must-have for all those jet-jockeys out there with an aggressive playstyle. The Karo-Tei Type 2 is a sub-chaser boat used by the Japanese in the later stages of WW2 to combat submarine threats in the waters of Okinawa and the Philippines. In update 1.89 “Imperial Navy”, the Karo-Tei Type 2 will be one of the first vessels unlocked by future IJN captains in War Thunder!

The Karo-Tei Type 2 sub-chaser was developed in the later stages of WW2 and commissioned into service in 1944. The vessel’s primary task was to protect the Japanese naval bases at Okinawa and the Philippines from light allied assaults and submarines in particular. The vessel only saw limited use due to the ever worsening war situation for Japan at the time.

Now we just need to wait for update 1.89 “Imperial Navy” to try this boat out. Smooth waters commanders!

Briefly: The Super AMX-30 is an upgraded export version of the serial AMX-30B with a gun stabilizer, side skirts, and a more powerful engine.

What does the Super AMX-30 have to offer fans of the French tank line in War Thunder? First of all, it’s got the long-awaited gun stabilizer. It realizes the full offensive potential of the AMX-30 by making it possible to fire at low and medium speeds. The new engine is more responsive, which generally increases the tank’s capabilities in duels and firefights from cover. One advantage for many players is the number of smoke grenades – the German engineers rejigged the entire smokescreen system, and the number of grenade launchers and grenades is now greater. The Super AMX-30 also has side skirts, which is nice too – they provide additional defence against HEAT shells.

When it comes to the tank’s disadvantages, we should mention that the vehicle’s armour is insufficient – almost all shots fired by other tanks in its class are a threat to it, which is a problem for the entire series. For tank commanders who already have experience using the AMX-30 in battle, this should be a familiar feature. The main thing is to try not to take damage at all. The Super AMX-30’s improved dynamics and excellent stabilizer help the tank roll out from behind cover, fire, and take cover again to reload, all without having to stop. Another important factor is that, as in certain other modifications of the AMX-30, the 20mm cannon has been replaced by a 12.7mm machine gun, which means that a main gun shot will probably be required to destroy light armoured vehicles.

Look for the Super AMX-30 in our store, stay tuned to the Developer Diary, and join us as we look forward to the big new update: War Thunder 1.89. It’s coming soon!
