The ‘Left 4 Dead but with ratmen’ cooperative first-person action of Warhammer: End Times Vermintide will return with a sequel, developers Fatshark formally announced today. Bearing the shorter, simpler name of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 [official site], it will… do about the same? Fatshark don’t have much to say or show right now, holding their secrets back until October. For Vermintide though we know one thing, it's time for patch 1.9.8.

Below covers the changes in this patch, but we wanted to throw a spotlight on one in particular. We have finally been able to go live with a change which allows you to see the recently played with heroes in the Recent Games feature in Steam!

Feature updates:
  • Recently played with Vermintide players now appear in the Recent Games list in Steam πŸ‘Œ
  • The Red Moon Inn is no longer skullified β›”πŸ’€
Fixes & Tweaks
  • Fixed some situations where ears clip through headgear πŸ‘‚πŸŽ©
  • Fixed inconsistency in dual daggers light attack damage progression
  • Fixed a case where Stormvermin Patrols could get stuck opening doors, which in turn could lead to client disconnect πŸ€πŸšͺπŸ”—
  • Fixed a popup crash that could occur when joining friends
  • Very slight CPU optimisations
  • Hawk Eye Trait - Fixed headshot multiplier that wasn't being applied correctly for clients

Well.

We set a bar we genuinely knew would be tough. 100,000,000 dead Skaven was really a huge ask. Voices cried out "but this is impossible! It just doesn't add up!". They said it couldn't be done. They doubted you.

At about 9pm (Swedentime) on Sunday, we thought it couldn't be done.

You made huge progress that Sunday, but was it enough?
What happens if this just doesn't work out?
Where will we put all these hats?!

We had a lot of questions and not many answers.

But as the night went on, the fight for hats was relentless. Heroes of the night, heroes worldwide, continued the onslaught.

The event has come to an end, and as the figure above shows, you smashed it, heroes. We're impressed with your savagery and dedication.

Your new hats await you.

Over on Twitch this weekend, you may have come across the 'SkullsForTheSkullThrone' community, where streamers playing Warhammer titles united under one banner, and showcased games - such as Vermintide - to the wider Twitch community.

They had their own challenge running, and this morning their viewer goals got beat - and with it come some pretty neat prizes! Various studios (ourselves included) created some bespoke prizes should their goal be met. You can find the full set of creations here on the right hand side of the channel, in the sidebar:
