Warframe Ghouls

Update: To clarify, there is an actual festive event running in-game at the moment – Tennobaum, as mentioned after the jump. It just seems to have been somewhat sidelined by the ghoul uprising.>

While every other online game worth mentioning is packing its world to the gills with seasonal cliches – snowball fights, gingerbread cookies, gaudily wrapped presents and the like – Warframe is bucking the trend and giving you a big ol’ mess of angry cyborg zombie mutant clones to murder across the increasingly toxic and inhospitable plains of Cetus.

Santa Claus may want to just tick off this whole region as Too Naughty To Bother, unless the Tenno can’t clean thing up over the next few weeks.

Be wary, Tenno, the Acolytes have returned!

The motives of the Acolytes are as mysterious as the Stalker himself, but we know one thing for sure: they are ruthless and deadly. Seek out each of them on your Solar Map and put an end to their plotting.

Since their first appearance in Operation: Shadow Debt, the Acolytes have periodically return to the Origin System to act as an extension of the Stalker’s will and to hunt priority targets. Although their origins and goals remain unclear, they bear an unsettling resemblance to the Tenno Warframes. You will find they have familiar looks and abilities, but they harbor only hatred for the Tenno. Track the Acolytes down as quickly as you can; they can be as elusive as they are unrelenting.

The ground of the Plains is erupting with vile beings of Grineer origin - repugnant Ghouls that overrun their victims in a gruesome mass of limbs and toxin.

GHOULS
Joining the Grineer on the Plains of Eidolon are a specialized pack of Ghouls that excel in close combat.
- The Rictus Ghoul wields a deadly, rideable buzz saw capable of shredding enemies.
- The Auger Ghoul is armed with dual drills for arms, enabling it to dig down into the earth in one spot, disappear, and surface in another for a surprise attack.
- The Devourer Ghoul is an overfed beast with a lengthy tongue and spiked hands, ready to shred enemies to bits.
- The Expired Ghoul is rigged with explosives and told to charge any Tenno it sees.

Discover the origin of these foul creatures in our third Warframe webcomic - Fragments 003: The Ascension.
