Action! - Gameplay Recording and Streaming - Mirillis
Hi Everyone!
First of all we are sorry for not being active for the past few months as we have been busy improving Action 4 and preparing Action 5! We are super excited with this new version as it will be our ultimate app dedicated even for the most demanding users!
A short intro:
Action 5 will be available in two trims: - Action 5 Basic, which follows the line of Action 4 being a simple, yet powerful screen and game recording app (with basic streaming functionality) - Action 5 Scene Maker a separate app with much more features for advanced streaming and recording.
We are going to release Action 5 in phases: PHASE 1: Action 5 Basic will include a new AI powered (software and hardware accelerated) camera background removal algorithm (December 2020) PHASE 2: Action 5 Scene Maker will be available for testing via Steam Playtest (Q1 2021) PHASE 3: A streaming overlay themes pack will be added with many cool graphic compositions (Q2 2021)

Hi creators and gamers!
Today we have uploaded version 4.10.0 with 8K and 8K HDR video recording support! We are now ready for the future as we can squeeze up to 45fps of 8K video using RTX 2080 GPU. 8K also works for newest Intel GPUs. Of course GPUs are not capable of 8K gaming today but it is just a matter of time. We are eagerly waiting to get our hands on Nvidia RTX 3000 family of GPUs and hope to reach 60fps 8K HDR video capture soon.
Below a list of changes in this version:
NEW easy to use selected application window recording/streaming and recording/streaming of multiple desktops in a single video (link to video tutorial is available below)
Added support for 8K MP4 video capture for newest Intel and Nvidia GPUs
Fixed system/driver crash after hardware PlayReady 3.0 DRM is enabled with Action running
Fixed 240fps recording in HDR mode
Fixed Vulkan HDR capturing in active screen mode
Stability improvements
Presented feature requires Windows 10 version 1903 (or newer)
Happy content creation and have a great summer everyone, Mirillis Team

Hi everyone!
We are intensively working on Action 5 with Scene Maker. A sneak peek on work in progress below:
We have also updated Action to version 4.8.1 that includes a critical fix for live HDR preview. A recent update of Steam's gameoverlayrenderer.dll was causing Action to crash just after entering Preview with HDR10 encoder selected.
Other changes are listed below:
Added 240fps video capture (Use with caution! May not work on all system configurations and in HDR. Not recommended above 1080p)
Important fix for constant frame rate (CFR) recording/streaming when CPU/GPU loads are high
Further stability fixes/improvements for DirectX 10/11/12 capturing when Alt+Tab (entering/leaving fullscreen mode) is being used
Fixed wrong HDR detection after using Alt+Tab (entering/leaving fullscreen mode) in some situations
Added new 1440p and 2160p predefined video size profiles
Fixed application hanging after URL source enabling/disabling (using tick button or hotkey)
Fixed some URL sources not displaying properly
For those who are new to Action, you do not need to worry about corrupted MP4 recordings since Action is the only solution that can recover them even after system crash/BSODs or any other disaster (well maybe not after a meteor crash).

Hi creators and gamers!
Today we bring you Action! v4.7.0 with another World's first: JPEG XL true HDR10 screenshots capturing! From now on not only you can create great looking HDR10 videos using Intel, Nvidia or AMD GPUs but also be ready for the future of amazing HDR still image creation! The web browsers like Chrome, Edge and others with JPEG XL (JXL) support are only a few steps away and with Action! 4.7.0 you will be ready and ahead of the others.
Let us explain how it works in a few simple and easy steps:
Action! automatically detects HDR video content
When you push create screenshot hotkey (default F12) when HDR video is visible on your screen two screenshots are made at the same time. One is an SDR tone mapped screenshot (BMP, PNG or normal JPEG) and the other a true HDR10 JPEG XL (JXL extension) still image
To view it just go to the screenshots tab and the HDR screenshot will there waiting for you with a small icon on it telling that it is the HDR one
Double click it and our free JPEG XL HDR10 viewer will display the screenshot in true HDR colors! (HDR display is needed of course)
You can share the screenshots along with the viewer to anybody (just send the jxlcodec_view.exe and jxlcodec.dll files that are located in your Action!'s Steam installation folder)
The viewer can be assigned in Windows to open any JXL files by default
A more advanced standalone application for JPEG XL viewing will be available from us for free soon!
We are very excited that we can enter this wonderful HDR future with you!
And as a bonus soon with Action! you will be able to create panoramic 360 HDR still images from ANY First Point Of View game! Sounds amazing, doesn't it?
Below a list of other improvements in version 4.7.0 (and also 4.5.0 and 4.6.0):
Microphone volume boost to 200% level is now possible
HUD is now rendered in true HDR for HDR desktop and HDR games using 64 bits per pixel color
Fixed Alt+Tab crashing in some DirectX 10/11 games and applications
Improved ST.2084/BT.2020 HDR10 video signaling

Hi everyone,
We have just uploaded version 4.3.1 with important fixes listed below:
HOTFIX: Fixed problems with GPUs not fully supporting DirectX 11.1 features (GPUs designed before Windows 8.1 introduction like Nvidia GTX 6xx, GT 7xx etc.)
Improved Vulkan performance
Fixed region recording using Intel GPUs
Fixed desktop recording when Windows 10 virtual scaling is enabled (desktop resolution is not monitor's native resolution)
Fixed pause when no audio is recorded or no audio devices are present in the system (video only)
Added YouTube permissions revocation after logging out in account manager
Added Discord to built-in exclude list
IMPORTANT: Due to the coronavirus outbreak we have problems with the YouTube API Services as we are running out of quota during the day (because of the large number of users). We are working to increase our daily limits. The only fix to this problem right now it to use the URL/Streamkey (Custom streaming method).

Hi everybody!
For the past month we have been struggling to improve all the issues reported by our dear users. We have integrated NVIDIA NVAPI and AMD AGS API to detect if HDR is enabled at the GPUs output (HDMI and Display Port). We also had to implement missing Windows 10 functionality since there is no official way to detect if HDR (ST2084 gamma) is enabled at the output of fullscreen exclusive DirectX 12 games and apps that do not use NVAPI or AMD AGS API. There was a serious bug for games that run in RGB10 format that sometimes were incorrectly detected as HDR and the captured video was corrupted (psychedelic color effect).
As of version 4.2.0 we support HDR10 recording for newest AMD Vega GPUs and real-time preview in HDR.
Below a list of all important improvements included in this version:
NEW: Real-time preview in HDR10!
NEW: HDR10 recording/capture now available on newest AMD Vega GPUs!
Automatic switching to SDR encoder when first video frame is not in HDR
Fixed problems with detecting HDR video (integration with NVIDIA NVAPI and ADM AGS API for HDR output detection)
Fixed corrupted video colors by incorrectly detecting RGB10 SDR video as HDR
Fixed ST2048/BT2020 gamma detection in DirectX 12 by implementing undocumented/missing Windows 10 functionality
Improved HDR10 video quality
Fixed problems with performance on AMD RX 5700 and other new AMD GPUs (SDR encoders for all GPU vendors now work in NV12 format)
Fixed problems with Alt-Tab in DirectX 12
Added system sound volume boost to 200% (fixes too quiet audio recording)
Fixed Constant Frame Rate marking in 120p/144p MP4 files (for video editors)
Improved AV lip-sync in low framerate modes (ie. 24p)
Thank you for your continuous support and feedback!

Hi guys! Action 4 is now available.
We have done some major changes in the capturing engine that in some cases give up to 2x performance improvement. HDR10 requires Nvidia GTX (1050 minimum) or one of the newest Intel CPUs (like Icelake). We have made Action 4 compatible with the latest SDKs from Intel, Nvidia and AMD.
Below please find a list of new (key) features that are available in Action 4:
- New capturing/recording engine for DirectX 9Ex/10/11/12/OpenGL (up to 2x performance optimisation)
- HDR10 (10bit) recording/encoding has been added.
Windows 10 and a HDR monitor connected with DisplayPort 1.4 is recommended (but HDMI 2.0 will also work). Please enable HDR/Wide Color Gamut in Windows 10 display settings for selected monitor.
When using USB-C (laptops) connected via HDMI adapter problems may occur (USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable is recommended).
To use HDR10 mode please check Hardware Acceleration list in Action 4 video tab (main view) and select Intel or Nvidia HDR10.
- Added HEVC support for Intel and AMD GPUs - Increased maximum recording bitrate to 200Mbps (useful for 4K@60fps HDR10 recording)
Please also note that for YouTube logging in (in Account Manager) you must first enable the streaming feature using your Google/YouTube Account
Happy holidays! And thank you for allowing us to improve Action over all those years.
