Sure, machines and industry are creating most of the gear for the soldiers in the field, but sometimes you need a small appreciation for how it came to be, the old fashioned way. All the real craftsmen appreciate freshly sanded wood and the sawdust filling the air. Nothing beats the comfort of smooth edges forming a light, but sturdy grip on a shovel.
What sets a connoisseur apart from soldiers is how they look at the shovel. A soldier sees it as an Entrenchment Tool - To the connoisseur, it's a tool of mass destruction.
Because of the event we have permanently updated shovels to PBR, this will give all shovels a fresh new look!
THE OBJECTIVES
We wanted to change our events up a bit. This means we have two ways for you to participate. First objective is to get 50 kills with a shovel during the whole event.
The other objective is to get the most amount of kills you can rack up within one clock hour, during the weekend (fri-sun).
Weeklong Objective: Getting 50 kills during the week will reward you with an Exclusive Gravedigger Shovel, used only by the fiercest of Soldiers!
Weekend Objective: During Friday, Saturday and Sunday we have a special kill race! Your goal is to score the most kills possible within one hour.
Keep improving your previous hour through the weekend. Remember only kills within every clock hour are eligible for entry. We will track your progress so go out there and make a name for yourself!

3 NEW MACHINE GUNS

THE GERMAN MASCHINENGEWEHR 13
The standard German light machine gun during the interwar years and into the beginning of the war. The name MG13 deceives the allies into believing it to be from WW1. This is an excellent piece of machinery, it features select-fire and an easy to use bi-pod.
THE SOVIET DT / DTM
Improving on the brilliant design of the DP-28, the DP-DTM is much more reliable and able to use a high capacity drum magazine. The addition of a pistol grip also makes this Soviet light machine gun much easier to control.
THE SOVIET MAXIM-TOKAREV
Even though this beast of a ‘light’ machine gun is old, it is still very relevant in the Soviet army. It features a 100 round drum magazine and the weight of the gun makes it very stable when firing from a prone position.
NEW SCOPES FOR INFANTRY
We have created new scopes for infantry soldiers which will replace the high magnification scopes previously available. This has been a community request and will change how the game is played as an infantry soldier for the better. We want infantry to focus more on being inside the combat zone rather than outside of it.
The new scopes will have a 1.9x magnification which is perfect for an infantry soldier who needs a little more precision in the middle of the battlefield.
The old Soviet Recon scope has been converted into an infantry scope. Recon soldiers with the old Soviet scope will have it replaced with a brand new 4x magnification scope.
2 NEW GAME MODES
With Update 1.16 we have added two new experimental game modes, a Recon vs. Recon and a Pilot vs. Pilot mode.
Specialist battles will be played on our specialist map previously only used by Tank Crews. In order to win in any specialist game mode, you will have to secure the capture zone and hold it for a specific time period. AI controlled infantry will do their best to capture the zone and you will have to help them secure victory!
Recon Vs. Recon Recons objective is to secure safe passage for the infantry by taking out the enemy. You have to be careful though – just like you, the enemy has recons sneaking around the map, take them out as soon as spotted!
Pilot Vs. Pilot Your main objective as a pilot is to take out the enemy planes and bomb their infantry, make way for your infantry and let them capture the objective!
You can access the new game modes by clicking ‘To Battle’ in the client and choose experimental game modes!
FIGHTER PLANE REBALANCING
Player feedback is important to us, streamlining our workflow and communication with our players has allowed us to work faster on community feedback and we will continue to improve upon that.
We are introducing balance changes to the Tier 3 Fighter Planes to bring them more in line with each other while still distinguishing each planes unique superiority.

We have been working on making Heroes & Generals WWII look better than ever. Many of our props and models have received a makeover and we will continue replacing old models with new more immersive ones.
The new props and models look better, provide better game performance and enhance gameplay through improved collisions. This will make sure your bullets hit where you aim, and not hit an “invisible” wall 🙂

NEW MUZZLE FLASHES, EXPLOSIONS AND TRACERS
We added new and better muzzle flashes for all weapons and vehicles, as well as new explosion effects. We also optimized the effects for a smoother experience.
New tracer effects for infantry and vehicle Machine Guns are now available. Depending on the Machine Gun, the tracer effect will occur every 3rd or 5th shot.
Tracers are colored after which faction you are playing, so go ahead – let your enemies know which is the better faction!
SOLDIER SPECIALIZATION
Players will now be able to see different roles tied to the different soldier types in the progression screen. You can view the new Soldier Specializations by clicking the Progression Screen tab on the top bar of the game client. Click on each soldier specialization to know more.
For this first iteration our intention is for the player to access a more streamlined overview of how each soldier type can be specialized through different playstyles and builds.
Note: Your characters will not be locked to a specialization.
OTHER CHANGES
We received a lot of feedback regarding death by exiting a moving vehicle. You now no longer risk death exiting a vehicle at max speed. Please note; this does not apply when exiting planes.

THE OBJECTIVE
Choose your team wisely by using either the First Tier SMGs or the First Tier SA Rifles.
Factions don’t matter in this event, only the amount of kills with the specified weapons are accounted for! Bots do not count as kills.
All kills from the First Tier SA Rifles or SMGs from across factions will be counted together in two separate pools. Reach the tiered goals to get a bigger discount on credit repairs towards weapons or vehicles!
THE REWARD
During the event you will have Double Experience on the Specialist Ribbons related to the two types of weapons!
