Today, we are happy to share with you that the 1.51 Open Beta branch for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available to try and test out. If you plan on participating in this Open Beta, we ask that you please help us by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums.
Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable to our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out. So, without further ado, let's take a look at what the 1.51 Open Beta has in store.
New Title Screen
One of the first and most prominent changes you will encounter in this update is a complete redesign of our Title Screen. Whilst keeping in line with our recent user interface rework, we wanted a design which is easy to navigate and understand for all players.
First and foremost, one of the main difference you'll notice about the new Title Screen is the focus on a truck in the centre of the screen. On the left, you'll find the menu which allows easy access to the more important features of the game, such as Options, and other sub-menus such as the DLC (formerly DLC Browser) and the Mod Manager, which will display the number of MODs active next to it if you have any installed.
To access your Profile Manager, just simply click your profile widget located in the top right of the menu screen.
Functionally, we have also made navigation more comfortable with a gamepad or a steering wheel, requiring less time reaching for a keyboard from the moment you launch ETS2 or ATS. This design also leaves us space to make tweaks and changes where needed, as well as make additions in the future.
We'd like to thank the community for their feedback on the first iteration of this Title Screen, which was showcased in a recent blog. We look forward to hearing your comments on this version during the 1.51 Open Beta.
Germany Rework - Bremen, Kassel, Osnabrück and Magdeburg
As part of our on-going Germany Rework project, we are excited to present the cities of Bremen,Kassel,Osnabrück, and Magdeburg have been completely re-worked and are included for free as part of the 1.51 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Players checking out these areas can expect to travel on new and improved road networks, deliver to accurately represented industries in the area, discover and explore landmarks and more! Each of these areas have been rebuilt completely from scratch, utilizing new map techniques and technology.
Eager to learn more details about each city and their update? You can read about all the changes in these cities in our individual blog posts which you can find here!
We hope you enjoy re-discovering these cities again! There is plenty to explore and we would love to hear your feedback, seen your screenshots and more. Be sure to share them with us at our official SCS Software forums, or on our social media channels!
Custom City Intros for Italia and Beyond the Baltic Sea DLCs
In this update, we have slightly reworked all of the in-game intros for every city in the Italia and Beyond the Baltic Sea DLCs with an ownable garage. With seventeen cities in the Italia DLC and twenty-four in the Beyond the Baltic Sea DLC, a total of 41 cities have received new or updated Custom City Intros!
Options QoL Improvements
The main change is the addition of a search bar for easier navigation across all settings categories. When a search is conducted, matches will be displayed in the current setting category, and sections where the search term also appears will be highlighted.
We have also reorganized the existing options in the settings for better clarity. These options are now divided into subcategories within each section. Additionally, two new categories, "Interface" and "Accessibility," have been added to the bottom menu for better distribution.
We've also introduced some changes that provide ease of access when it comes to changing the Desktop Background in ETS2 and ATS. You can now change your menu background directly using a shortcut from the main menu, or alternatively, you can access the same option via the interface section in your settings.
However, that's not all! We've now also made it possible to preview your backgrounds before changing them. Simply click on the background of your choice via the carousel, and you'll be presented with a short preview of how it would look, before confirming your selection.
Players will also be notified through a small widget on the main menu if they have received a new Desktop Background option as part of an event reward or update. Clicking on this will also direct you to the new settings which are implemented in this update.

Let's hit the road and explore Greece's highways and byways! In this blog, we're excited to showcase the intricate road network we've been working on for the upcoming Greece map expansion in Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Truckers will be able to get to Greece through six different border crossings. We have already shown you three of those in this blog. After arriving into the country, players will be able to travel in all directions thanks to multiple highways that we have recreated for this map expansion - the A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, and A8 - which will get you pretty much everywhere you need to go and will also include plenty of interesting and meticulously crafted intersections.
An important transportation hub will be the Igoumenítsa ferry, which acts as a vital point of access on the west coast of Greece, connecting the country with Italy. From there, three major European roads will await drivers and lead them through the rest of the country.
The E55 starts all the way north in Sweden and continues to the south of the Peloponnese peninsula. The E90 connects Portugal with Turkey and crosses Greece from the west to the Turkish border through Thessaloniki and then along the coastline. The E92 connects Greece's west coast with its east coast and goes through many cities, including Trikala.
Hopefully, we managed to get you a little bit more excited about this upcoming map expansion. If you like what you saw here, be sure to add Greece to your Steam Wishlist, as it really supports us and our future releases. Remember to stay tuned for more updates on the development of this DLC and other ETS2-related news by following us on our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Until next time, keep on truckin'.
With the upcoming 1.51 update for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, one of the first and most prominent changes players will encounter is a complete redesign of the title screen.
Whilst keeping in line with our recent user interface rework, we wanted a design which is easy to navigate and understand for all players. First and foremost, one of the main difference you'll notice about the new title screen is the focus on a truck in the centre of the screen.
On the left side, you'll find the menu which allows easy access to the more important features of the game, such as Options, your Profile Manager, or other sub-menus such as the DLC Browser or Mod Manager which are now located under the 'Extras' part of the menu. You will also find the current version of the game displayed in the bottom left corner. If an update is available for the game, text above the version of the game will appear to notify you of that.
On the right side of the menu, you can find a widget featuring your currently selected profile and current trucker level. Hovering over this widget allows you quick glance at your profile statistics. In some cases, additional widgets may appear on the right side, for example, if your current profile is not connected to World of Trucks or if you are using a 'Open Beta' version of the game.
On the bottom right, you'll find our carousel of small banners, which gives players quick and easy access to the latest news from our official blog and features graphics presenting our newest releases.
Functionally, we have also made navigation more comfortable with a gamepad or a steering wheel, requiring less time reaching for a keyboard from the moment you launch ETS2 or ATS. This design also leaves us space to make tweaks and changes where needed, as-well as make additions in the future.
We hope you that enjoy this new look and overhaul of the Title Screen in the upcoming 1.51 update. Be sure to keep an eye our on our social media channels (X, Instagram, Facebook) for more news on other changes and additions found in this update. Until then, keep on truckin'!

We want to thank all of you for your participation & dedication during both these events, and we hope you enjoyed exploring Nebraska, and rediscovering the beauty of Switzerland! We've especially enjoyed reading and sharing some of the messages, pictures, videos and more from you on the road in ETS2 & ATS whilst taking part in these events.

Γειά σας! Today we're happy to share with you a new post on our upcoming Greece DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. This blog focuses on the city Trikala (Τρίκαλα) and what you can expect to see on your future travels to this area. Ready to take a look? πάμε!
This city certainly has a lot history! Built upon the ancient town of Trikki, founded around 3.000 BC, Trikala's centre is a labyrinth of narrow streets and historical neighbourhoods. For this reason, truckers won't be able to travel through the city. However, our team has recreated the northern and eastern outskirts of the city where drivers will find plenty of delivery contract options.
Located in the outer eastern area of the city is the industrial area, where drivers will find a range of industries including logistic depots, warehouses and a supermarket to deliver to and from. Each one of them is detailed to match their real-life counterparts. In these areas, you'll also be able to enjoy views of the nearby mountain range.
In the Northern area, you'll find the agriculture sector of the outer city, including grain silos and other related industries. You'll also find a brand new industry in Trikala, but we will keep that surprise for another blog in the future.
We look forward to featuring more of the cities, industries and even more from our upcoming Greece DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. If you like what you see, be sure to add Greece to your Steam Wishlist, as it really supports us and our future releases. We thank you for your support. Until next time, keep on truckin'.
Another blog where we take you behind the scenes of our work is here! This time, we're excited to introduce you to our talented map designer Pavel. He is currently working on the nature and mountains for the Nordic Horizons map expansion. So let's learn more about his creative process!
Pavel - Map Designer
"In this map expansion, I am recreating the beautiful archipelago of Lofoten. It extends from mainland Norway into the North Atlantic Ocean and despite belonging to the Arctic Circle, there is plenty of taller vegetation as well. This, combined with the majesty of the mountains surrounded by water, the colourful houses, and the many fishing harbours, creates an environment that is very satisfying to both capture and pass through," Pavel says about his project.
As with all new map expansions, we conducted field research by travelling to the country ourselves to collect references and data.
"I have had the opportunity to visit Scandinavia several times. Most recently, it was made possible by the management of SCS Software for research. The journey through Norway and Sweden was very beneficial for me as a map designer," Pavel tells us and also walks us through what needed to be done before the actual designing of the map.
"Research into shorter and taller vegetation, architecture and road networks preceded the design of the landscape. Textures, models and other functional elements were gradually created in collaboration with all departments. Their use and the representation of the landscape character in the map is preceded by a layout including the road network, depots, truckstops, gas stations, etc. On this layout with the help of Google Maps, I gradually, taking into account the limits of the virtual environment and the map editor, create a landscape with natural elements. This involves a lot of spatial imagination and sometimes a little magic."
Pavel uses his experience from his previous work, being part of the team doing the Austria and Switzerland Rework projects, where he also designed mountains and nature. "Experience from past projects featuring mountains, such as the rework of Austria and Switzerland, is certainly showing in the new Nordic Horizons DLC. I'm glad to see that the possibilities and limits of the editor are expanding," he says.
Of course, there are still limitations to the map expansions and we have to work strictly within them, as Pavel confirms. "Deviation from reality is determined by our scale, visibility, optimization and interpretation," he shared with us.
And his final message to our #BestCommunityEver? "If you love traversing beautiful landscapes with Viking history and experiencing the adventure of exploration from the comfort of your home, you'll love this DLC. Personally, I love the capital of Lofoten, Svolvær, which is a really beautiful place, so make sure to visit it," he says.
We hope you have enjoyed this little sneak peek into the making of our upcoming map expansion for ETS2. We hope you have enjoyed this little sneak peek into the making of our upcoming map expansion for ETS2. If you are as excited about the Nordic Horizons DLC, make sure to add it to your Steam Wishlist! Stay tuned for more updates by following us on our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Today, we're excited to release a new episode in our SCS On The Road series. This time, we were given the special opportunity to get a close-up look at one of Scania's fully electric trucks at the Scania Demo Centre, located in Södertälje, Sweden.
Join Oscar, our Director of Global Partnerships, and Fredrik Sundén, Expert Engineer at Scania Group as they talk about the development of the Scania 45 R, the little sister to the Scania 40 & 45 S, and give you a guided walk-around and POV from the cabin as they drive it on the test track.
We are very grateful to the team at Scania for allowing us to film and share with you an inside look at the work that goes into creating Scania's electrified trucks. Whilst only the Scania 40 & 45 S are available in Euro Truck Simulator 2 as quick jobs, we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to test drive and learn more about its smaller counterpart, the Scania 45 R, which shares many similarities.
We hope you enjoy watching, and learning about the fully electric Scania 45 R. If you like the video, be sure to subscribe, like and leave a reply, as we'd love to hear your comments. We will see you soon for the next episode, until then, keep on truckin'!
We have another update from the Germany Rework project for our #BestCommunityEver! Today, we would like to show you how we completely revamped the cities of Osnabrück and Magdeburg for this upcoming rework phase in Euro Truck Simulator 2, so let's dive right in.
Osnabrück
This city located in the northwestern part of Germany is also known as the City of Peace. While rebuilding Osnabrück and its surroundings, we managed to make the historic centre driveable for our players, who will now be able to admire the beautiful landmarks.
The economy has been adjusted to better reflect the real locations, so truckers will deliver to a honey factory and a scrapyard in the harbour. This change makes Osnabrück one of the most picturesque cities in Germany with a lot of smaller details making it look alive.
Magdeburg
While rebuilding Magdeburg, we had a limited amount of space to work with. With that in mind, we decided to put our focus on the industrial part of the city which turned out really great. Truckers will come across a windmill factory and a food mill in the nearby harbour.
The area around the city was adjusted too and features several landmarks such as the Magdeburg Water Bridge and the Elbe River with its accompanying bridges. We have also specifically modified the highway exit so that truckers transporting wind turbines from the windmill factory can manoeuvre their way out.
And that's a wrap for now! We will keep you updated about other ETS2 news and the Germany Rework project as well on our social media (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok), so make sure to follow us there.
