In addition to the new content that is coming to American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the 1.47 update, we will also be introducing two brand new special transport routes - one for each game. There is an interesting backstory behind the creation of these new routes and we are excited to tell you all about it today.
Special Transport missions have been a fan favorite since their release, providing unique challenges for players. However, revisiting and updating the content of these routes in updates or new expansions can be a significant load and commitment considering it was done by one person alone - Nemiro. But, as our team grows and our know-how is shared across the company, we are excited that more of our colleagues found interest and time to get involved in "servicing" these DLCs.
Over the past few weeks, two new small teams have formed and we have shared the knowledge with them through a few sessions. Both teams have created their first routes for the Special Transport DLCs, and they have turned out so exceptionally well that we have decided to include them in the nearest update for all the players to enjoy. We hope you will all appreciate the new routes and the fact that expanding our internal teams could mean more routes in the future.
The two new routes are:
Barcelona to Vandallos
Truckee to Oakland
To leave on a high note, we would also like to mention that something interesting related to Special Transport is currently shaping up in our vehicle department, but that’s all that we can say for now. For any potential updates and news, follow our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and stay in touch with all the latest announcements.
Our rework team is currently working hard on bringing Switzerland up to the current standards, and there is one particular aspect of the country that is impossible to overlook - the Alps. Offering magnificent views, the newly added roads will make it worth your while to visit.
More than half of the Swiss territory lies in the Alps, which makes it one of the most mountainous countries in Europe. The Alps include stunning landscapes with snow-capped peaks, green valleys, and water bodies, and the rework of Switzerland in Euro Truck Simulator 2 will capture this beautiful essence with awesome detailed additions such as the glacier in which the river Rhone originates, which you will be able to directly pass by.
One of the main attractions of the Switzerland rework in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the three possible routes through the Alps from north to south. These routes offer a unique driving experience, and each one has its charm.
The first route is the Great St. Bernard Pass, which is located on Route 27 and is famous for its tunnel. The second route is the Gotthard Pass, which is located on the A2 motorway and features the well-known road and rail tunnel. The third route is through the Val Mesolcina valley, which is located on the A13 motorway.
We will also add the A9 road which will be the topic of a separate blog post in the future. For now, we hope you are already looking forward to the fresh content in Switzerland and we can’t wait for you to check these marvelous mountain roads out. For any updates regarding the date of when this update will be available make sure to follow our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to stay in touch with all the latest news.
We’ve previously slightly touched upon the topic of what makes the West Balkans DLC unique by talking about the local culture. Today, we’ll shape the image of the region even further by showing you screenshots representing the architecture, along with bits of brief information as well.
The West Balkans DLC will include a diverse range of architectural styles. Countries like Albania, Croatia and Montenegro have a strong Mediterranean influence mainly reflected in lots of balconies, some of them facing the sea (the balconies actually appear often in all the states located next to the Mediterranean Sea). Albania has something even more specific - a high amount of family houses that are always under construction.
Meanwhile, Serbia and North Macedonia (specifically Skopje) still have a somewhat brutalist character, with its monstrous concrete blocks of flats still standing as a reminder of its past.
Slovenia, on the other hand, has a mix of architectural styles, partly suffused with Alpine architecture with high gabled roofs. In old cities like Sarajevo, there is a lot of old architecture that has been preserved and stands as a testament to the entire region's rich history.
However, it's not just the diversity of architectural styles that makes the map expansion exciting, but also the fact that the dedicated team has produced a bunch of specific assets just for the DLC. These will eventually come in handy in some cities, where you will be able to get to the center and experience interesting landmarks up close!
All in all, architecture is always under many influences and we hope you will truly immerse in the local atmosphere while driving across West Balkans map expansion. We still have more topics in store for you, so make sure to follow our social media profiles (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to always be notified of any potential news or updates.
Today, we are happy to share with you that the 1.47 Open Beta branch for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now available to try and test out. If you plan on participating in this Open Beta, we ask that you please help us by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums.
Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable to our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out. So, without further ado, let's take a look at what the 1.47 Open Beta has in store.
Germany Rework
As part of our Revisiting Germany project, our team has recently reworked the cities of Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Nurnberg and Erfurt completely from the ground up. This includes landmarks, road networks, industries and so much more!
For those who are new to our game, the Revisiting Germany project consists of a small dedicated map team, who has been working hard to update one of the oldest map sections of the base game to align with our current development standards.
Each city which we have worked on in this update has its own dedicated blog, which we recommend going back and reading. Each one contains information unique to its project, and what changes you can expect to see in these areas.
We really hope that you enjoy these reworked cities as part of the free 1.47 update and we look forward to bringing you more news in the future regarding our rework project.
Ownable Gas Cisterns
Are you ready to haul your very own Gas Cisterns in Euro Truck Simulator 2? As we covered in a previous blog post, Ownable Gas Cisterns are available in this update! These trailers will come in a variety of lengths, chassis and customisation options. These cisterns are designed to transport dangerous and highly flammable gases such as Ethane, Propane and LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas).
However, please keep in mind, that as of now the in-game economy for these trailers and also the list of available cargoes for them are still in a work in progress state and are subject to change.
The Ownable Gas Cistern for Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be available in the most common trailer combinations found in Europe. This being the Single 2-axle 10 metre chassis with a 40m3 Gas Tank and single 3-axle 12 metre chassis with a 50m3 gas tank. Accessories included (but are not limited to):
Paintable/Chrome Boxes
Valve boxes with additional toolboxes, sideguards etc
Fire extinguishers
A variety of rear fenders and rear bumper lights
A variety of hoses
A variety of trailer paintjobs
and so much more!
We look forward to seeing you deliver with these new Ownable Gas Cisterns and how you will customize them. Be sure to share your first ride with them on our social media channels.
Ownable Livestock Trailers
Gas cisterns are not the only new trailers in town, introducing purchasable livestock trailers!
Players familiar with this type of trailer in American Truck Simulator might already be a bit ahead in regards to what makes this addition so special, but to bring everyone up to speed, you will have an opportunity to transport cattle in your very own trailer ETS2! In addition to having different body and chassis customizations, here is a detailed list of everything else you will be able to tweak:
Left/right/front/rear body
Markers
Side protection plates/boxes
Rear fenders
Rear bumpers
Rear mudflaps
We can’t wait for you to start exploring the roads of Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the brand-new livestock trailer. You can read more about these unique trailers at our dedicated blogpost about the subject.
Adaptive Cruise Control & Emergency Braking System
Released originally as a hidden experimental feature back in 1.44, we are glad to be able to bring this highly requested addition to the 1.47 update. Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts the distance and speed from the vehicle in front when in cruise control mode. This is especially handy when encountering a busy highway, where you may find traffic often merging into a gap in front of you, or in situations where traffic speed is constantly changing.
Coupled with ACC is the Emergency Braking System, which activates your brakes whenever a collision is imminent with the vehicle in front, to avoid or minimize damage. This technology in the real world has saved countless lives and is found in most modern trucks.
These features have been in the works for a while, but it is still work in progress and we look forward to seeing how they perform during 1.47 Open Beta. Please share with us your feedback and comments on our official forums.
Random Road Bumps
We're excited to introduce Random Road Bumps into 1.47! These small bumps are procedurally generated to give the roads an imperfect feel to them. While they may not be visible to the driver, you will be able to feel these subtle bumps and in some cases hear them affect your vehicle whilst driving.
We look forward to working on expanding this feature in the future, but for the time being, let us know your thoughts about it! Any comments or feedback can be made over on our official forums.
Custom City Intros - Road to the Black Sea DLC
Carrying on from our previous update which introduced custom city intros in the Iberia DLC, we have now expanded these cutscenes to the Road to the Black DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2!
These special cutscenes appear when a player selects a starting city when creating a new profile. We hope that new players (or those restarting a new profile) will enjoy these new additions, showcasing the area where you have chosen to begin!
Let us know your thoughts and any feedback you may have at our official forums.
Career History UI Redesign
This update also includes a refresh for the Career History UI! For those who are unfamiliar with this feature, you can access it via the main menu of American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2. It displays a graph of your experience progress and some statistics.
This new redesign will now feature a much more detailed look into your statistics and previous deliveries. The UI now shows 4 sections which are: Deliveries, Exploration, Driver experiences, and Penalties. Each of these sections displays different statistics that give you a more in-depth review of your journey as a truck driver so far including total deliveries, your past delivery ratings, how many of your deliveries were on time, map exploration, companies visited, truck data and discoveries.
We've also included a section that'll show what penalties you have received over the last 2 weeks of your career. We felt that little things such as hitting traffic signs or falling asleep at the wheel don't need to be on your permanent record.
We've also redesigned your delivery log which shows clearly your previous jobs, your cargo, what day you made the delivery on, income, XP, time spent etc. We understand that these statistics are important for drivers to look back on, especially if you are part of a VTC where you may need to log your previous jobs for driver activity.
We really hope you like this redesign, and we hope we can expand on it in the future. Let us know your feedback and comments by heading to our official forums.
In-Game Update Log
We've now added a new UI feature to both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator which will show users the changelog of a major update or showcase the featured DLC release.
This will appear in the form of a pop-up either when you launch the game after an update or whilst in-game in the main menu if an update was made during your time on the road. Not only that, but you can also access a history of previous changelogs, in-case you missed out on several, and find all our official social media links.
We hope this helps you stays informed no matter where you are on the latest changes and updates made to our titles.
Economy Reset Teleport
Whenever the player's economy is reset during a game load, it was the norm for you to be teleported to your HQ garage. Today we are happy to make a small change that will allow you to make the decision whether you want to teleported to your chosen HQ or a free quick travel to any service station of your choice.

The rework of several German cities in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is drawing ever closer and you should definitely get ready to explore the city of Nuremberg like never before! Let’s take a look at what this beautiful city with rich history will offer once the update arrives.
The entire city was built from scratch with an addition of a newly accessible part of the city center to which you will be able to deliver construction materials. As you explore this new section of the city, you'll be awed by magnificent landmarks such as the Nuremberg Opera House, the Main Railway Station, and the Church of St. Lawrence.
Despite not being situated on a major European river, the city still plays a vital role in transportation thanks to the Main-Danube Canal, which links the North and Black Seas. Along this channel is the port of Nuremberg, which serves as a hub for river port docks and the transshipment of petroleum products.
In addition to the new features in the city center, adjacent sections of the A3 and A6 motorways have also been redesigned alongside the city. This means players will have a smoother and more realistic driving experience as they travel through Nuremberg. The Kreuz Fürth/Erlangen and Kreuz Nürnberg Süd interchanges have also been updated and there will be a brand new sawmill to the north of A6!
All in all, we’re sure this rework will be a fantastic update to not only the local fans but everyone who loves to explore the entire in-game world. We have some cool news for you coming soon, so make sure to follow our social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to stay in touch with all the latest announcements.
On the 6th of February 2023, a devastating Earthquake struck southern and central Turkey, as well as northern and western Syria. This awful event has caused a catastrophic loss of life and devastation to many homes, towns, and cities, which has displaced millions of people across both regions.
To assist with the relief and rescue efforts of this terrible disaster, we have joined forces with other great game developers and Humble Bundle to release a special Turkey & Syria Relief Bundle. 100% of the proceeds from your bundle purchase go directly to helping those affected and includes 70 gaming titles worth over $1000.
Humble selected three charities to be part of the bundle. These charities have focused efforts in Turkey and Syria, in directly helping those displaced and affected by these terrible events.
Direct Relief is deploying medical supplies from its facilities in the U.S. and Europe for Turkey and Syria. More than 22 tons of medical aid has been staged or is being shipped for Turkey and Syria since the earthquake began. The organization has also committed $3 million in financial support for response efforts.
International Medical Corps responded immediately to the Disaster. They coordinated with local health authorities to address critical gaps in services and enable functional healthcare facilities to rapidly scale up their care for communities, dispatching medical supplies, consumables, pharmaceuticals, and non-food items to support healthcare facilities and people.
Save The Children is coordinating closely with local partners on the ground, including Turkish Red Crescent and Support to Life, to distribute tents, hygiene kits, clothing, heaters, blankets, and other essential items. In addition, their Emergency Health Unit (EHU) provides life-saving healthcare in emergencies.
So many great game developers have come together to help support this cause by contributing their titles to the bundle. You'll find every genre under the sun, and all for a fraction of the price (or more if you're feeling generous); which goes to directly supporting those in immediate need of medical supplies, food, water, shelter, and more.
We thank you for your support in advance if you choose to purchase this special bundle; which is helping those who need it most. You can purchase the Humble Bundle here.
It's now time to reveal one of our projects that we've been working on for some time already, and to confirm all the speculations about the very cool yet mysterious and unique video we published back in October. Yes, we're talking about the teaser in which not only members of our crew, but a real camel took part in as well!
Everyone who speculated that this teaser is related to the European trailer company Wielton was right, and we are proud to officially confirm that the cooperation is real and it’s happening. We got in touch with the amazing people from Wielton back in 2022 at the IAA automotive fair in Hannover, where the initial discussions and the first steps in our common interest to bring Wielton trailers into Euro Truck Simulator 2 began. We were honored to find out that the team over at Wielton was already very familiar with ETS2 and with our #BestCommunityEver, and that they were ready and looking forward to joining the truck sim universe with their famous brand.
From the very first moment, it has been nothing but joy and fun to work with Wielton, and we are grateful to be connected to such a cool and open-minded team of people working within the automotive industry. From providing us with high-quality reference data for our vehicle department to being creative in producing unusual but cool marketing content - it's been an absolute pleasure to work on this project together!
A few weeks back, we were also invited to visit their production plant in Wieluń, Poland, to gather some tiny pieces of missing reference data for our 3D graphics designers, and to also take a guided tour through their facility to check out the production process. We can now confirm that we have seen with our own eyes how their teams are tirelessly making sure every single one of their trailers, every tiny detail and part is being made with a deep dedication for perfection and top quality! And we’ve observed their production very closely, as you can tell by the video below!
We would love to use this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to everyone from the Wielton team for all the help that they have given us so far. We can't say when this project will be ready for a release, but if you'll keep your eyes on our communication platforms such as our social media channels you surely won't miss any updates related to this topic!
With the intention of celebrating the timeless tradition of Valentine’s day, exactly two weeks ago we introduced a brand-new thematic World of Trucks event, in which we asked the players to deliver special Valentine Presents cargo across all the trucking territories. And now, since the event was successfully concluded on Sunday the 19th, we'd like to thank and congratulate everyone for taking part and offer you some final thoughts and impressions.
The community goal which was set at 500,000 deliveries was actually completed before Valentine’s Day itself and we consider that to be absolutely amazing! We knew that achieving this number wouldn’t be an easy task but all of you managed to surprise us with your true passion and dedication to finish the goal as quickly as possible. We also appreciate all the feedback we have received and, as we hope to return with another event next year, we’ll make sure to take it all into consideration. For now, let’s take a look at some of the final statistics from this year’s Sweet Valentine event.
These numbers are truly incredible and we hope you are enjoying the Trucker Cupid and Box of Chocolate rewards. We realize that Valentine’s Day is a really time-limited holiday, but you can now explore ETS2 or ATS with the accessories all year long. Additionally, don’t forget we have also updated the Valentine’s Paint Job Pack for each game with the styles used for the special event cargo!
The power of our #BestCommunityEver is always one of the main highlights of any event and it was awesome to see you all sharing the love all over social media and other platforms, such as Youtube or Twitch. We really enjoyed looking at the screenshots, videos, and live streams, and it brings a lot of joy to all our teams to see how much you enjoy these World of Trucks events.
Once again, we are grateful for all your effort and the love you showed us during this event. We hope we’ll be able to provide you with more challenges and entertainment in the future as well, and while we are unable to say right now what our plans are, keep an eye out on our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to always be notified of any potential announcement.
We know what you are thinking right now. Isn’t the city of Trieste outside of the actual West Balkans region? Well, there is a bit more to today’s blog post than the title suggests. Keep reading and you will find out!
Every time that we are expanding the world of Euro Truck Simulator 2, we have to carefully consider how to appropriately connect it to the already existing content. Quite often this means adding something new even to the countries nearby that are technically not a part of the DLC, as it gives us an opportunity to further develop the real-life representation of the given area. This is exactly the case with Trieste, which is located only about 8 kilometers away from Slovenian’s Koper, and which we will introduce as part of a base game update paving the way for the launch of the West Balkans DLC!
Trieste is located in northeastern Italy, and, as well as being a beautiful city with amazing architecture, it is a deep-water port and one of the most important transport hubs in Europe. Due to this role, you, as a truck driver, will be able to drive through the port area near Gulf of Trieste. However, this road will offer a view of a big part of the city, along with a chance to spot a part of a landmark church, so, whether you are visiting for work or just passing by, we’re sure the city will have something for everyone!
We can’t wait for you to explore this new addition to the base content of ETS2. While at the moment we are unable to say when exactly it will arrive, make sure to follow our social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to stay in touch with all the latest updates and official announcements.
With 8 new countries included in the upcoming West Balkans DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, our teams have their hands full; Especially when it comes to creating its abundant amount of wilderness and nature. With its exceptional wealth of plant and animal life, the Western Balkans is one of the richest parts of Europe in terms of biodiversity.
It is also a region that is mostly covered in mountain ranges, especially between the northwest and southeast. Drivers can expect a very diverse terrain profile when it comes to trucking, including some very scenic mountain routes.
Of course, not everywhere is hilly! You'll come across more even looking terrain as you travel inland. In these areas, you'll find that agriculture is more prominent, as conditions are more favourable for growing fruits, vegetables and livestock; especially in the warmer climates.
The West Balkans are also home to a variety of beautiful National Parks, which include everything from verdant valleys, to towering mountains, and a diverse array rivers, waterfalls and more which await visitors in this historic region.
With so much ground to cover, we are sure you'll have plenty time on the road to take it all in. We look forward to sharing more in-depth development blogs in the future which will feature specific areas. Like what you see? Consider adding the West Balkans DLC to your Steam Wishlist, it really helps support our studio and we thank those that have done so already!
