Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
Yesterday we released the 1.45 Open Beta for American Truck Simulator and you have probably noticed that among numerous other changes, there is a massive and long-awaited addition coming to the selection of purchasable trailers - ownable cisterns! Let’s take a more detailed look at this trailer type, which will also be arriving in the 1.45 update for ETS2 as well.

For now, we will be adding two different types of cistern trailers into our games - Fuel Cisterns and Silos (Dry Bulk trailer). Both types will have different customizations and use. And don’t worry, we plan on bringing more versions of this trailer to you in the future!

The fuel cisterns in American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be used for the transportation of combustible liquids. The ATS version will offer 6 connection types (Single, Double, B-double, Rocky Mountain Double, Turnpike Double, Triple) and 2 different customizable body types (Single drain pipe, 4-way drain pipes), while ETS2 side will have a single connection and single body type (Classic). Here is a detailed combined list of available customizations

  • Chassis type
  • Paint jobs
  • Front Mudflaps
  • Markers
  • Left, right, rear, front body
  • Rear fenders
  • Rear bumper
  • Rear mudflaps

In regards to silos, in ATS and ETS2 you will be able to deliver a number of bulk materials with them, for example, sand, concrete, or grain. ATS will have 5 connection types (Single, Double, B-double, Rocky mountain double, turnpike double) and a single body type (Classic), while ETS2 will include a selection of 4 connection types (Single, Double, B-double, HCT) and a single body type (Default). The combined list of customizations:

  • Chassis type
  • Paint jobs
  • Front fender
  • Chassis front left and right
  • Markers
  • Left, right, rear, front body (in ETS2 front only for Non-Semi Double Trailer)
  • Rear fenders
  • Rear bumper
  • Rear mudflaps

We are incredibly excited to see you hauling these new cistern trailers in your company and how you will customize them! Be sure to share with us your photos of your newly owned trailers on our Social Media channels (Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram) once you will get your hands on them after the 1.45 update arrives. Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
Since the release of the reworked Austria and California, many of you have been wondering what the next step will be for the teams responsible for bringing in-game areas up to the current, and more realistic, standards. Today, we can reveal that we are working on giving the city of Hannover a fresh look, which we are planning on adding to Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the 1.45 update!

Similar to Austria, we have more-or-less deleted the entire city and started from scratch. The city circle has been moved, although we have also done our best to keep as much from it as possible. That’s not the case with the city center and southern part, however, as these areas now feature a completely different layout with a new economy, which actually consists of some unique depots in the world of ETS2.

One of the most unique areas arriving in this rework will be the very famous Hannover Messe - one of the world’s largest trade halls and also one of our biggest challenges due to the fact that the part that we are adding is almost in a 1:1 scale. Dedicated to the topic of industry development, trucks and trailers always take the spotlight during the IAA event, which is an exhibition for commercial vehicles and a chance for brands to showcase their constant technological advancements and evolution. Perhaps this area might come in handy later this year, who knows?

Finally, while only the city of Hannover will receive a fresh coat of paint at the moment, more is to come in the future. For now, we also have several other features and changes arriving in the 1.45 update for ETS2, so make sure to follow our social media profiles (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) to stay in touch with all the latest news!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
Today, we are excited to share with you some of the new content our teams have been cooking up for version 1.45 of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. This time we are delighted to showcase an update for the Krone Trailer Pack plus a special addition for owners of this DLC.

You may remember that a while ago, our teams had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Krone production plant in Werlte, Germany. We took scans and references of multiple trailers and even of the factory itself using a drone, which has resulted in this exciting collaboration and update! So, what exactly does this free update hold?

Owners of the Krone Trailer Pack will receive two new trailers, the new Profi Liner Building trailer, and the Paper Liner trailer. These new three-axle trailers will both come with retractable axles. So what can be hauled with these new trailers?

The Krone Paper Liner curtainsider trailer and Krone's updated Profi Liner Building Material drop side trailer allows drivers to transport goods such as seed bags, fertilizer, plant substrate, outdoor floor tiles, roof tiles, and bricks. You will also find a new freight market cargo for the Boxliner, which consists of two stacked boxliner chassis for hauling!

Both trailers also come with optional accessories including original Krone paint jobs, side skirts, pallet boxes, tire stores, and bumpers. This update also includes five new Krone accessories for your cabin including cute bear and truck toys. but that's not all!

We have also worked closely with the fantastic team at Krone to bring you a detailed representation of the Krone production plant virtually in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Producing approximately 30,000 vehicle units a year, this factory is a hub of activity and is in constant need of logistics. Drivers who own the Krone Trailers Pack DLC will have the opportunity to deliver parts to and from the factory as well as deliver brand new trailers from the Krone Trailer Point within the production plant where they are rolled off the line!

We can't wait for you to visit the Krone factory for yourself, virtually of course! Also, this special area may hold some surprises in the near future, which may require the help of our #BestCommunityEver! Keep an eye out in the future on our social media pages (Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram) for the latest 1.45 development updates and a teaser or two of what is to come.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
Some of you have probably been wondering for the last couple of days what are the next steps on the journey through Euro Truck Simulator 2. All of that changes today, however, as we are excited to officially announce our upcoming DLC project. This time, the roads will take you to the West Balkans!

Perhaps the most observant of you already saw this coming, since you may remember we’ve created an "egg hunt" challenge with thematically colored eggs for this year’s Easter Holiday. We had a lot of fun watching you explore every corner of our social media channels and your collective effort has not come to naught, as you managed to find all the secret eggs successfully!

As it is with our big map expansions and overlapping development periods, planning and research for this work-in-progress DLC commenced well over a year ago. The project lead with a core group of veterans have already started prototyping specific locations last autumn. The same goes for 3D model creation; the work on all the various unique landmarks, buildings, bridges, etc. (we call them 3D assets) must start well over half a year before the map designers need them. But still, practically we are only in the early phase of development, with the majority of the map design team getting on board just a couple of months ago. We are now full speed in production, finally able to start showing you the interesting bits as they are finished. We'll be working hard to bring this expansion to you as soon as possible, while still making sure it will get released when it's fully ready and properly polished.

When it comes to the countries you will be able to see in this DLC, it will be quite a challenge for us, as we are bringing in several of them! Namely, they are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia. Phew, that is quite an exhaustive list indeed!

You can look forward to many new things that these countries have to offer. Whether in terms of the industry, nature, landmarks, road networks, or a lot of other interesting content!

If you want to show us how excited you are for this new addition to the world of Euro Truck Simulator 2, make sure to visit the Steam page and add it to your Steam Wishlist. It would help us a lot and we would greatly appreciate it! Also, be on the lookout for any news related to this upcoming DLC, whether it is here on the blog, on our social media profiles (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), or by subscribing to our newsletter. We have a lot of topics up our sleeves and we plan on bringing them to you as soon as we can. Until then, we’ll see you on the road!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
It feels like the hype train for today’s announcement has been so loud it could probably be heard by astronauts in space. And while we’d like to say that sky is the limit for this new content, it will be much better to keep your wheels on the ground. After all, how else would you enjoy everything that is arriving in the Renault Trucks T Tuning Pack DLC?!

With a wide range of tuning options, this pack will make sure you will always stand out while on the roads of ETS2. Featuring paint jobs, cabin accessories, and many exterior tuning parts, such as sideskirts, chassis covers, bumpers, fenders, mudflaps, exhausts, sun visors, stoneguards, trims, deflectors, front masks and grilles, bull bars, light bars, headlight guards, and much more! But this is not all, since, in case you missed it, we have added a new interior variant into the game in the 1.44 update, which is a free update that does not require the DLC pack.

While this DLC consists of mostly aftermarket parts, we are also going to bring you some items officially licensed by Renault Trucks. In order for you to be able to tell which category an item belongs to, we have decided to add a unique in-game UI feature as well in the recent update, which shows you a special icon indicating whether the item of your choice is Licensed or Aftermarket. We have already introduced this change in the 1.44 update and you can learn more details in the dedicated blog post.

We can’t wait for you to show us all the combinations of customizations that this DLC pack is offering. The best way to do so is via social media by tagging our official account (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) under the hashtag #TuneMyT, and make sure to include Renault Trucks as well (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). We’re sure their social media profiles are also excited to see what the #BestCommunityEver will come up with!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
We are happy to share with you that the 1.44 update has now been released for Euro Truck Simulator 2. This update is packed with new features and changes, so we recommend reading through them all.

We'd like to thank everyone who participated, provided their feedback, and made bug reports during the Open Beta of 1.44. Your valuable input helped us make tweaks, changes and smash some bugs we may have missed the first time around. We hope you can now begin to fully enjoy the various new features which are included within this update, including some new ones that may not have made it during the beta!

Austria Rework

We are excited to bring the highly anticipated Austria Rework as part of this free update for all owners of Euro Truck Simulator 2. Our rework team have been diligently working on updating this magnificent country and today we are excited for you to explore this beautiful country for yourselves.

The entire country of Austria has been reworked to bring it up to a true to life standard, as previously this was one of the older original areas of Euro Truck Simulator 2 when it released in 2012. All cities, surrounding areas, and road networks has been given a complete overhaul including the famous Alps!

We are sure drivers will face quite the challenge when trucking over these winding roads which travel along the valleys.

Companies Logos Revision

As some of our eagled eye players might have noticed from some our previous blogposts and social media video clips, some of our in-game companies logos featured in the base of game of Euro Truck Simulator 2, have received a rework!

These new modern logos, still stay true with their colour schemes but bring a modern and fresh take on these old-school companies. Keeping modern and up-to date is important for companies, even our virtual ones!

We hope you enjoy spotting these new logos on company trailers and industries across Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the 1.44 update!

Mod Refund Feature

Since the introduction of third party modification support in our convoy mode, our team has been working to improve the mod support experience. In this update, we are happy to share a new feature which we hope will further improve players gameplay when playing with modifications.

We like to call this new addition the 'Mod Refund' feature. In simple terms, after a player has downloaded a third party modification and used it on their truck, they may in the future want to remove it (or it even may have become incompatible). This new feature reads and recognises the data from the modification, even if it has been removed, and refunds the player the difference with the in-game currency. This removes the problem of players losing money after using a modification.

It works by recognising that a crucial part is missing (such as the chassis, engine etc) and replacing it with a default part. Players will be prompted with a pop-up containing information that some parts are being refunded and will be given the option to accept or reject this refund. If you decide to reject the refund and reactivate the mod instead, the truck will now revert to its former glory even if you have saved the game in the meantime.

So, whether you're trucking with friends in a convoy session with mods, or you want to remove a certain modification after use, this new feature will make sure you won't go out of pocket!

Licensed vs Aftermarket Customization Options in UI

Players customising their truck or looking at new parts in the garage may see some new icons appearing in the list. In total we have added 4 new icons to represent what type of accessory it is. When you hover over them, they will show if they are classed as a:

  • Factory part - A stock part sold by the manufacturer (including interiors)
  • Licensed part - Anything that is officially licensed that is not produced by truck factory
  • Aftermarket part - Any additional accessory that is not related to the brand.
  • Unknown part - A part that is not recognised or in some cases, a third party modification

This should help drivers when it comes to customisation if they wish to keep it within the manufacturers customisation options, or tune their truck further with aftermarket parts. We hope you enjoy this small yet helpful feature!

Accurate Mileage System

Mileage signs are now present in Euro Truck Simulator 2, which add an extra layer of realism. They show the "in-game" distance to a displayed city or landmark. For cities this is normally a central location within the central business district (major intersection, city hall, post office etc).

They're particularly handy for players who turn the GPS off and like the challenge of following road signs for their destination. It also gives you an idea of when you should stop for fuel and/or rest breaks etc.

We hope you enjoy this new addition to the roads of ETS2, we are sure many of you will find them useful and immersive on your travels!

Unmarked Roads Exploration

With the 1.44 update, we are bringing into ETS2 and ATS a new feature; once you drive onto an unmarked road, you will be notified about having done so with a message in the route advisor, and the explored road will appear on the map as an orange dashed line, with any unexplored part ahead of you shown in grey.

On one hand, this will ensure that you will immediately be aware of the fact that you have found something interesting, and on the other hand, if you ever decide to re-visit a hidden zone you will know where to go.

Map explorers, do not panic! These unmarked roads do not contribute to your map discovery percentage, but they do add a nice addition to your GPS if you do come across them. You can read more about this new feature here.

Force Feedback Upgrade

This update also includes a few new upgrades to the force feedback experience when playing ATS or ETS2. These changes have been made to represent a more realistic driving experience. These upgrades include:

  • New gearbox grind effect simulating vibration of missed gear when using manual shifting.
  • New understeer slip effect simulating tyre slip when vehicle is understeering
  • Revisited power steering curves and pressure gain of self centering effect to improve steering feel.
  • Revisited internal friction force giving better feedback depending on the speed of steering.
Since self centering and internal friction were updated, we highly recommend that you reset the FFB settings to their defaults again.

Smart Sequential Shifting

Smart Sequential Shifting is now available to truckers, if they wish to enable it via the options. So what does it do? In simple terms, when you shift up or down sequentially, it will automatically shift by more gears at once based on the current torque or speed.

For this to work, drivers will still need to trigger the shifting process, but once working, should require less input from the driver.

Interior Camera Horizontal Lock

This new option allows truckers driving in the first person view (in the cabin) to lock the camera view to the horizon, so that it moves more independently from the position of the cabin.

With the introduction of this new feature, players can find a slider in the options that defines the locking factor; with the slider being to the left disabling the locking and to the right, being the strongest locking option.

Adjustable Suspension Height

Sometimes, when you are driving a big rig, trailer pick ups can be a bit tricky. Adjustable suspension height should help drivers eliminate the problem of hooking up to sometimes problematic trailers or in difficult pick up/delivery area.

Drivers now can lower the suspension of their truck to get the correct height for hooking up their trailer, without damaging it. Players will be able to find the inputs for this new adjustable suspension in the options. Its inputs are front up/down and rear up/down.

We have also included a new UI prompt which appears when the drivers are having trouble hooking up their trailers after a few attempts. We hope this makes picking up deliveries of any size easier in the future!

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
From all of us here at SCS Software, we want to wish you all a very happy Easter!

For those who celebrate it, Easter is an important holiday observed by millions around the world. It is also a time when many come together with family and friends to spend quality time together. A popular Easter-themed activity that many take part in is an Easter Egg hunt. For those who are unfamiliar with this game, eggs which are usually painted colorfully are hidden around an area for those participating to find, each of which contains a sweet treat for the finder to enjoy!

This year, for a limited time, we are egg-cited to announce our very own Easter Egg hunt, with a twist! Instead of a sweet treat as a reward, these eggs will contain some clues regarding future content coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2.

So where can you find these eggs and how many will there be? To save you from driving for hours in ETS2 or ATS, we will specify that these eggs will be hidden around various SCS Software related websites & social media pages. We will leave the rest of the hunting to you!

We urge you to get hunting quickly, as they will only be around for a short time; We hope you have fun and good luck!
Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
A lot has changed in the world of Euro Truck Simulator 2 over the years. The project has seen many additions and updates, and we figured that the current video trailer dating back to 2012 barely represents the evolution and improvement process that is now clearly visible within the game. We are excited to let you know that we have been working on an updated version of a video trailer for ETS2!

In detail, there are a couple of reasons for us to upload a new video. First of all, the game is celebrating its 10th anniversary later this year, and just as our teams frequently revisit some parts of the in-game content and world by reworking it to today's quality standards, we also wanted to create a nice video trailer that would better represent today's look and features of the game.

This brings us to the second reason, which is the recently added new lighting system. This update, which was released last year, has changed the look of our games in so many ways that we felt the current version of the video trailer, that people find on YouTube and see on Steam, is not reflecting what the game really looks like now. The same can actually be said for all the features and content that came into the base game ever since we released it.

For the fans of our previous trailer, there is good news as well since we are not planning on removing that one, as we want to keep it as a legacy and a sort of memory token. After all, the same fate may be awaiting this new one in the upcoming years, because we are planning to bring a lot of content into the base game of ETS2 with future updates and therefore this new trailer will eventually need a refresh again. However, it is nothing we would be particularly sad about because we are proud of creating a game that we constantly update and bring new content for.

We also have something special in store for all of our players for the occasion of the 10th year anniversary of ETS2. There are already plans on amplifying this amazing milestone, so this updated trailer can be looked at as the first chapter of the celebration!
Euro Truck Simulator 2 - London
We are always trying to improve every aspect of our games and sometimes this progress paves the way for brand new realistic features that will solve any potential issues. One such addition is coming in the 1.44 update for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Adjustable Suspension Height is on the horizon!

The process of creating models for our games is constantly improving, as nowadays we are receiving extremely detailed reference materials (sometimes CAD files directly), and with it comes the need to make sure that the combinations of trucks/chassis/trailers will all work together without any problems such as visual glitches. That is why we have decided to introduce this new feature which is based on real-life suspension systems, which are important for keeping the vehicle stable and safe. This will solve any difficulties with attaching trailers in our games by allowing the players to adjust the height with a special key.

Please mind that this feature is a realistic addition that the players do not have to necessarily have turned on. However, if you will want to give it a try and start using this new system, make sure to assign the hotkey in the bindings settings, as by default the option will be unassigned.

We hope that many of you will rise up to the challenge and give the Adjustable Suspension Height feature a try. This change that is coming with the 1.44 update represents another step toward our games being much more realistic and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts about it on our forum or social media, where you can tag our profiles and tell us what you think (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook).
