Following up on the announcement of the Experimental Open Beta for American Truck Simulator, we are happy to announce the arrival of the 1.39 Open Beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2 which includes various improvements, fixes, and new content.
It will still take at least several weeks before the full 1.39 release, so please keep in mind that this is the first open beta iteration and it is very much still a work-in-progress build that will receive updates throughout the open beta period. The initial release of this beta is rather raw and only recommended for consideration for seasoned testers.
Please note that users who operate on Linux or MacOS may experience a more unstable version of the 1.39 Open Beta and is considered more experimental at this time.
If you want to take it for a spin, you can help contribute by reporting any bugs you may encounter at the appropriate section of our official forums. Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable for our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out.
So, what can you expect to find in the 1.39 Open Beta for ETS2? Let's take a closer look!
LAUNCHPAD UPDATE
One of the first things you may notice when you launch Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the 1.39 Open Beta is a redesign of the current launchpad. The main reason why we are introducing this change is to pave the way for future additions, which will introduce new features to our games that are accessed through the launchpad.
Until then, however, you can see that the design has changed quite significantly. The profile selected at the top now affects all other options and managers found on the launchpad. This applies not only to the Mod Manager but especially to the new addition which we have placed here, Game Options.
This allows you to change your game settings without even having to load the game. So if you're just looking to tweak your game before streaming on Twitch or adjusting a few options before heading into your truck, it can all be done from the launchpad screen.
This is just the first iteration of the Launchpad design which is subject to changes and tuning throughout the Open Beta period. If you have any feedback to give about this design, please let us know at our official forum category.
LOW-BED & LOW-LOADER TRAILERS
As we previously announced in a recent blog, new Lowbed & Low-Loader Trailers will be arriving at Euro Truck Simulator 2. These trailers have been reworked from the ground up, offering drivers the option to purchase them and use them in an array of different jobs including High Power Cargo Pack, and the Heavy Cargo DLC's.
Low-bed and low-loader trailers now come in two main versions - short and extended, plus they now have customizable chassis which can affect their suitability for heavy cargoes. You will now also be able to adjust and tune them up with multiple new options like colors, rear bumpers, and banners, markers, lights, ramps, side protectors, multiple versions of side/toolboxes, beacons, strobes, mud-flaps, and more! Every single one of these new options had to be adjusted properly for each of these new trailers, to be sure that they fit perfectly!
Introducing the port of Calais, the fourth-largest port in France and the busiest for passenger traffic. Its industry accounts for more than a third of economic activity in the local area. As many of you may know, Calais is one of our base game cities which was released with Euro Truck Simulator 2.
As such, a dedicated part of our map team has taken time to give the city and port a major reskin, giving it a fresh and up-to-date look for 1.39. The biggest change you will notice is how the port is now represented in-game. In reality, Calais port is huge and so our map team has worked hard to best reflect that reality within the confines of our map scale. This newly recreated port will feature new assets including gates, terminals, ramps for ferries, and fences.
Other changes include updates to the port entrance and surrounding city areas which have been redesigned to correspond more correctly to reality now. You can read more in detail about this free update to Calais in this blogpost.
GENERAL BUG FIXES/SOUND CHANGES
1.39 also features various bug fixes, improvements, and an update to sounds. This includes, but is not limited to, improved interior cab sound mixing and other changes in preparation for new and upcoming content
While a majority of the changes in 1.39 are not seen visually in this version, we look forward to bringing you more content and changes in the near future.

We asked you to get creative and get snapping with THE BOSS Edition paint job for the Renault Range Truck in Euro Truck Simulator 2, and disappoint you did not!
With 4 cool scaled models up for grabs from our friends over at Renault Trucks, you flooded both our and Renault Trucks' social media channels with photos of THE BOSS Edition paint job in action. From pulling heavy loads to taking a leisurely cruise down a country lane, you showed off your new paint job in style; just take a look at the amount of hype you generated on social media!
With over 2500 submissions made using the hashtag #ImTheBoss across our social media profiles (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook combined), it would be extremely hard to pick just 4 winners, as from what we've seen so far, pretty much all of the entries are amazing! Hence, we've decided to pick the 4 lucky winners randomly from the list of all by using this special website.
A BIG congratulations to our 4 chosen winners, each of whom will receive a scale model of the Renault Range T High with THE BOSS Edition paint job! And as a small surprise from our side, we've decided to spice-up the reward a little bit by adding a promise of a Steam key for Iberia DLC after it's released! We hope that you will feel like a real boss now.
To everyone who took part in this creative contest, thank you! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We look forward to potentially bringing you some more exclusive contests and content in the future with Renault Trucks, as they too were amazed by the effort our #BestCommunityEver provided, and the attention you guys and gals brought/will bring to their vehicles and brand. Watch this space ;)
We'd love to host similar competitions in the future, so if you happen to brainstorm any ideas for a future contest, let us know in the blog comments below, we'd love to hear it!
The growing of fresh fruit and vegetables is an important industry for Spain and Portugal, so much so that both countries are among some of the largest producers and exporters in Europe. From oranges to avocados, Iberia provides the ideal growing conditions and space for farms to grow a wide variety of crops, fruits, and vegetables.
In our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, drivers will have the opportunity to transport and deliver a variety of equipment and produce within this important industry sector across Spain and Portugal.
Iberia will also feature newly created prefabs to represent the wide variety of different farms that can be found in Iberia including large commercial farms and vineyards. However, there is one type of farm that may catch your eye on your travels.
Found largely concentrated in the south-east of Spain, are areas of farmland largely covered by white plastic greenhouses. This type of intensive farming has become increasingly popular across Iberia, as farmers can create ideal growing conditions in otherwise very dry and hot areas of the peninsula to grow vegetables and fruit.
We hope you enjoyed taking a closer look at this important industry in Iberia and we look forward to sharing even more images and development updates in the near future. ¿Estás emocionado por Iberia? Help support the release of this upcoming DLC by adding it to your Steam Wishlist, we thank you for your support!
Today we're happy to bring you something new, cool, fun, rewarding, and entertaining together in cooperation with our friends over at Renault Trucks! After a very successful and impressive Trucks World Cup 2020 contest, we've been thinking if we can create something similar and reward our #BestCommunityEver once again!
You might have noticed that a few moments ago, your Steam client started downloading a small update for Euro Truck Simulator 2. And with it comes something special and new; a brand new paint job for the Renault Range T truck - THE BOSS Edition!
It's beautiful, right? Initially, Renault Trucks planned to use this paint job as a special and exclusive 2020 paint for their trucks in the real world, but due to all the difficulties that covid19 has brought they were not able to make this idea happen. So together we decided to honor this piece of amazing art at least in the way of adding it for the community of Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Consider it a nice gift from Renault Trucks. It's also a small proof that when our fanbase shows some love and attention to a big brand like Renault Trucks on social media, they usually like it a lot! There are real fruits of labor for your passion for our games. It always helps us a lot in communications/negotiations when companies in the automotive industry see the strength of our games' community.
But getting this amazing piece of art for free is not all! Our friends from Renault Trucks are also ready to send 4 cool scaled models to four lucky winners, who will be randomly picked on various social media platforms. What do you have to do to get a chance to be one of them?
It's super easy. Just get this new paint job, and apply it to your mighty Renault Trucks Range T in ETS2, and take a nice screenshot of it. Then, upload it to at least one of the social media platforms we use (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) under the #ImTheBoss hashtag, alongside tagging our (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and Renault Trucks' profiles (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
Screenshots can be taken from anywhere in the game you want, it can be with or without a trailer, tuned up or not. There are no limits or requirements, except for those written above. Plus make sure you do so by the 12th of October 2020, 23:59 CEST as we will pick the winners shortly after! We can't wait to see all your amazing entries! Be creative!
We are always excited to show our community what changes and updates we are currently working on. Today we are focusing on one of the more noticeable changes that drivers in Europe can expect to see in the next 1.39 update.
Introducing the port of Calais, the fourth-largest port in France and the busiest for passenger traffic. Its industry accounts for more than a third of economic activity in the local area. From transporting goods to holidaymakers seeking sunshine, it serves as an important gateway between the United Kingdom and France.
As many of you may know, Calais is one of our base game cities which was released with Euro Truck Simulator 2. As such, a dedicated part of our map team has taken time to give the city and port a major reskin, giving it a fresh and up-to-date look for the next update. So what exactly has been changed? Let's take a closer look!
The biggest change you will notice is how the port is now represented in-game. In reality, Calais port is huge and so our map team has worked hard to best reflect that reality within the confines of our map scale. This newly recreated port will feature new assets including gates, terminals, ramps for ferries, and fences.
The entrance to the port has also received a major change; as well as the road leading to the port where previously a simple roundabout was located, it has now been updated to a larger custom-made roundabout with an overhead road crossing. This isn't the only change to the road networks, however.
Surrounding roads and highways that connect the port and the city will correspond more correctly to reality now, which includes more realistic highway exits. While the actual city of Calais will have a similar layout, it will be given a new look with updated terrain textures, road textures, new vegetation, and more. You will also find that quite a few of the industrial buildings have also been replaced with newer assets.
While many of the major changes are quite obvious from these pictures, we will leave the rest for you to explore and find what other smaller changes have been made. We look forward to sharing more with you on what is to come in 1.39. Watch this blog and keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news and announcements.
With mountains on one side, the sea on the other, and an exciting urban hub in between, Barcelona offers so much to experience for tourists and residents alike; and the same goes for truckers too! Offering drivers sunshine, scenic views, and a large variety of industries to deliver to and from, this city seems to have it all.
Attracting around 9.5 millions visitors in 2019, Barcelona never fails to impress with its rich history, which is visible in the surrounding architecture and culture. Truckers heading in to the city, in our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, can expect a wide array of industries to accept job contracts from; including car factories, glass factories, truck dealerships, and even the local airport.
We are sure that you will find yourself returning to the city of Barcelona frequently as you explore and discover its famous landmarks and hidden gems around the city. For the most authentic experience, we highly recommend cooking up a fresh plate of paella before your journey across Iberia.
We hope you enjoyed taking your first look at Barcelona and we look forward to sharing even more images and development updates from this beautiful part of the world. ¿Estás emocionado por Iberia? You can help support the release of this upcoming DLC by adding it to your Steam Wishlist!
Have you been looking to freshen up your trucks paint job with an original and modern livery? Look no further! Introducing the Super Stripes Paint Jobs Pack DLC, now available for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
These new unique and colourful designs have been hand-crafted by the talented artists here at SCS Software and chosen for their stylish look. This new pack includes six new paint jobs, which will be available for all current truck models and standard chassis options in ETS2. So how do they look? Here's your first preview of these new designs:
This will also be the very first paint job pack to feature predefined colour presets alongside a fully customizable colour palette, giving you, the driver, a wider array of options when customising your truck in the upgrade shop. Each of these colour presets have been created by our artists to suggest several alternate color combinations in addition to the default one upon choosing the paint job.
We've been working on the colour presets feature for some time and we thought that there is no better way to introduce it than with the release of this new paint jobs pack. These new designs are among the first that can benefit from this new feature, offering having multiple predefined variations.
Since we didn't want to make this new feature exclusive to DLC owners, we have also created a few more colour presets for some of our existing base game paint jobs as well. We plan to add more of these colour presets to upcoming or already released paint jobs in the future.
Sound plays an incredibly important role in our simulator titles, especially in making the in-game world feel alive. With the implementation of F-MOD, we have been adding new sounds to ETS2 & ATS with each new update to make the most of this powerful sound engine. However, some of the ambient sounds we have previously implemented in-game have become a bit dated.
So how do we bring new sounds to our games? By sending out our sound experts out into real-world of course! Recently two members of our team, Matej & Irenej, travelled to Spain & Portugal for the main purpose of recording new sounds for the upcoming ETS2 DLC release of Iberia. These new sound recordings will also be used in some areas to refresh older sounds used currently in our sim and used for upcoming future DLCs too.
So where exactly have they been and what have they recorded? We won't spoil everything in this update, but here is just a small glimpse of what our team of two have been upto.
Some of the locations visited include busy sea ports, cities, highways and rest stops to bring new and fresh sounds to their virtual in-game counterparts. They also visited near some of the more commonly found industries to capture some of the ambiances and sounds that these workplaces produce, some of these locations included power plants and local farms.
Just as important as capturing the sounds of the cities and industries are the sounds of nature. From the suttle sound of wind through the valleys to the tweeting of birds, these sounds play an important role in immersing players in their virtual surroundings.
The little details all make a difference and we cannot wait to implement these newly recorded sounds into our simulators in the future. We hope you enjoyed this brief update on the development of our current trucking titles and we look forward to sharing more with you in the near future! And don't worry, both Matej & Irenej have returned healthy, safe, and went through negative covid19 tests!
Iberia is enormous, measuring at over 580,000 square kilometers, truckers have a seemingly endless amount of road to drive on. Through mountains, cities, and forests, drivers often seek refuge from the sun and take the time to rest for the journey ahead at suitable rest areas and designated gas stations designed for truck drivers.
With Iberia being one of the leading logistic capitals of Europe, truck stops have become commonplace across the countries of Spain and Portugal. Our map and assets teams have paid special attention to the creation of gas stations and truck stops in our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
A large majority of these gas stations have been handmade with new prefabs and assets which can be placed by our map team manually. This allows our teams to create a variety of designs that can be crafted to match their real-life counterparts as closely as possible. These rest stops also will feature other AI drivers who will pull up for fuel and for a much-needed rest in the parking area.
From small country gas stations to large highway truck stops, drivers can relax knowing the next stop isn't too far away. While you are filling up, be sure to take a moment to add Iberia to your Steam Wishlist! It really helps support us and notifies you of its release in the future, thank you. Plus as always - check out our social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) because you may see there some additional and exclusive content not spotted here!
Lisbon is a historical city where the sun shines 290 days a year and the temperature rarely drops below 15°C. Featuring coastal views, great food, and more, it's no wonder millions of tourists visit the capital of Portugal each year.
Today, we are excited to share with you a gallery of work in progress screenshots from this important city which will be featured in our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. As one of the few European capitals with a river and coastline, the city has a rich history of industrial maritime history.
Lisbon also holds the title of one of the oldest cities in Western Europe; in fact, only Athens is the only other city in Europe that is estimated to be older. So what can truckers expect to see when driving in Lisbon?
Well, we don't want to spoil it too much, but with a variety of industries such as shipyards and factories, there will be plenty of outgoing and incoming deliveries to be made. Drivers will also drive near some of the well-known landmarks, including 2 bridges that will connect travelers across the Tagus River.
So with sunshine, stunning views, and deliveries to be made, we are sure Lisbon will be one of the top of destinations on your list to visit when Iberia releases.
If you haven't already, be sure to add Iberia to Steam Wishlist! It really helps supports us and notifies you of its release in the future. You can also find a few exclusive content not found on this blog across our social media channels, so be sure to look out for them on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
