We love to bring you new game updates, especially when they contain features that have been requested for a long time! Today, we are happy to share with you that Update 1.41 Open Beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now ready to be tested by our community!
However, please keep in mind that this is the first iteration of the open beta, which is still very much a work-in-progress build. If you want to take it for a spin, you can help contribute by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section of our official forum. Your feedback and reports are extremely valuable for our team and we thank you in advance for taking the time to help us out.
Please bear in mind that this update will likely render many community MODs incompatible. MOD authors may need to adjust and update their mods to work with this update. We strongly recommend that you use a profile without any third-party modifications if you wish to participate in the 1.41 Open Beta.
So, let's take a look at what the 1.41 update has in store!
Convoy Multiplayer Open Beta
Convoy is a new multiplayer game mode, where players can set up and host their own private sessions (password optional) to drive with their friends or other fellow truckers. There is currently support for synchronized AI traffic, time and weather, and the ability to take the same job as other players.
During this open beta phase, Convoy will allow you to create and host an online session with up to 8 players. We plan to eventually raise the player limit in the future, however, we are keeping it small at this time due to its work-in-progress nature. Session hosts will automatically be made admins of these sessions, allowing them to ultimately control what kind of environment they want to have online, as well as having the ability to kick any trouble-makers from the session.
You can also see, filter, browse and eventually join any of the available sessions that have been already created by your friends or other truckers.
So what options and features will players be able to use and experience in the open beta of Convoy?
Any player can host and create their own private sessions for up to 8 people
Ability to haul the same contracts/jobs together from the same company and to the same destination
Synchronized AI traffic (random events included)
Synchronized time and weather
Synchronized paint jobs, truck accessories, cabin accessories, cargoes and more
Ability to communicate with other drivers via CB radio broadcast (X key), quick replies (Q key), or text chat (Y key)
We know how many players are eager to try out this new feature; however, there are some things you will need to know before joining your friends on the road! Convoy is in a beta phase, which means you may potentially run into some bugs, imperfections, or unexpected problems whilst driving.
Notable issues / not yet implemented:
Mods in Convoy mode are not supported in the initial release.
When using an owned trailer, there might be a company trailer spawned in the same location you are supposed to go to to load your cargo.
AI vehicles might disappear when a player disconnects.
Lifting bridges are not synchronized. They will be stationary for the initial release of Convoy.
Steam invites work only through the Steam overlay.
CB radio broadcast (hotkey "X") interferes with the text input line.
The on-screen map in Convoy "M" zooms out together with chat scrolling in the Route Advisor.
Worried about your profile progress? In-case of trouble-makers or other circumstances out of your control, players will have the option to revert their save to one made previously before joining the session. From friends to VTC's, we are excited to see how you will enjoy Convoy and we look forward to hearing your constructive feedback on this new online feature.
A-24 Iberia DLC Addition
Today, we are happy to bring a new piece of the road network to the latest map expansion for ETS2. This update to Iberia carries the Autoestrada A24 which runs north to south across the Douro river valley, connecting A7 and A25. It passes through a very scenic region of Portugal, famous for its many vineyards.
Originally, this road was considered for release with Iberia DLC, but we did not manage to complete it in time. We decided to finish A24 anyway and bring it to you in an update, as we did not want to leave this beautiful part of Portugal behind!
Our teams are listening to feedback and making changes accordingly for upcoming updates and beyond. We look forward to bringing you similar development news in the near future, be sure to keep your suggestions and feedback coming as it really helps motivate us to improve our content.
Photo Mode: Time & Weather options
We know how much our players love to take photos in-game and spend a lot of time creating that perfect shot, and for many, this also includes finding the right lighting conditions and weather. So to help create that perfect trucking memory, we have implemented a new feature that may save you quite a bit of time when it comes to using console commands!
Introducing the new Time and Weather options! Players will now be able to choose the conditions of their liking, to create the perfect trucking snap just by simply adjusting a new slider to change the time, or clicking on two buttons to control the lighting/weather, all of which will appear in the updated in-game photo studio. We can't wait to see how drivers will use this new feature in the future and we look forward to seeing your snaps!
Changelog:
Gameplay:
Convoy Multiplayer
Time and weather adjustments in photo mode
Quick Travel
Map
A-24 Duoro Road Addition to Iberia DLC
Iberia map fixes
Various road signs reskinned across Europe
Navigation sign reflection fix
UI
New icons on the map legend
So enjoy all the new additions, but please remember: It's only an open beta, not a stable public version - so you may encounter bugs, instability, or crashes. It's completely okay if you want to wait for the final release. But if you're interested in helping us to get there faster, we'll appreciate all of your feedback on our forum and your bug reports in this section.
Please check our modding wiki to get details pertaining to mods for the game.
If you wish to participate in the open beta, you can find this version in the public_beta branch on Steam. The way to access it is as follows: Steam client → LIBRARY → right-click on Euro Truck Simulator 2 → Properties → Betas tab → public_beta → Public Beta 1.41. No password required.
Since 2018, we have been happy to work closely alongside Krone to bring drivers in Euro Truck Simulator 2 a range of trailers that leads the market in terms of innovation and quality. From Profi Liner to Box Liner trailers, Krone produces a variety of trailers for jobs large and small.
One trailer, however, stands out above the rest! The Cool Liner, which celebrates its 25th birthday this year, is a refrigerated semi-trailer which was first introduced by Krone in 1996 under the product name "Krone-Wabash". Today, the Cool Liner can now be found with numerous updates including an innovative lighting concept, a new optimized door seal, a redesigned baffle plate, and more.
To celebrate this amazing milestone, we have teamed up with Krone to deliver a special "KRONE Cool Liner 25th Anniversary" paint job for the Cool Liner Trailer, which Krone themselves has built in the real world! With this free update, owners of the Krone Trailer Pack DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 will also find a new option to add the Celsineo cooling unit for the Cool Liner Trailers. This won't be all, as we are already planning other equally cool content additions together with our friends over at Krone Trailers for later this year, and also for 2022!
We look forward to seeing you celebrate this special birthday by sharing photos of you hauling a delivery with the 25th Anniversary Krone Cool Liner trailer on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #25YearsCoolLiner. Make sure to tag us (@SCSSoftware) and Krone Trailer (@KroneTrailer) on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. You will have a chance to win some cool items kindly provided from Krone Trailers' merchandise shop!
Also, we would love to have you join us this Friday, from 17.00 CEST time on our official Twitch & YouTube channels, where we will host a very special Cool Liner 25 Years Anniversary live stream! Featuring not just our well-known duo of Alex and Nemiro, but also joined by a special VIP guest from Krone Trailers! You can expect an interesting interview to learn more about Krone Trailers, free DLC keys giveaway, and more!
Two weeks ago, we posted a few shots from Euro Truck Simulator 2 about an upcoming truck that was covered in a camouflage wrap. We hope that you have had as much fun guessing (granted, it was quite obvious) as we did creating the special livery.
Today, we are proud and excited to bring to you, just a day after DAF's official reveal of the New-Generation DAF trucks, the brand-new
DAF XG and XG+
The New-Generation DAF represents a new era in trucking. As DAF says, Start the Future. The new line of trucks focuses on efficiency, driver comfort, and safety. The new XG and XG+ cab is yet another revolution since DAF's previous cab was introduced in its earliest form on the 95 XF back in 1987. DAF is literally reinventing the game with the XG/XG+, by being the first-to-market with its new super-sized cabs made possible by the reformed EU Weights & Dimensions law, which allows for truck cabs to be increased in length by up to 80cm.
A rounder and longer front overhang not only improves fuel economy, but improves driver safety in the event of a frontal collision. The increased cab space also allows for a much wider bunk and a more spacious driving position.
New to Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the introduction of optional digital mirrors replacing the conventional side, wide-angle and front mirrors. These mirrors improve side visibility as the conventional mirrors which normally create a blind-spot at roundabouts/junctions are replaced with displays that sit cleanly on the interior A-pillar. The mirrors also feature exposure correction for better night-time visibility.
Another first for Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the new DAF is its fully-digital dashboard display, or Driver Information Panel (DIP), as DAF calls it. The DIP features modern graphics and a unique design which is bound to make the truck stand out from its competitors, and make your driving experience more interesting and informative.
The New-Generation DAF is initially available in Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the XG and XG+ cab options, with the XF coming at a later date. Only the 4x2 chassis option will be available for now, as is the same with the trucks initially offered to customers.
Last but not least, we have also added a special launch paint job for the new trucks, to go with the Tuscan Yellow launch colour that you should definitely use!
We would like to thank DAF Trucks N.V., especially their marketing and design teams, for this amazing opportunity of a next-day launch of the truck for ETS2, for trusting us with all the confidential data (they even provided us with material swatches!) involved, and for assisting us along the way during the creation of the in-game truck. We hope this collaboration opens up even more opportunities with the PACCAR group and the wider trucking industry as a whole!
And finally, thank you, our #BestCommunityEver, for continuing to believe in us, for supporting us, and for being the awesome community that you are! We promise that there is more where this came from, so keep sticking around and playing our games, especially with Convoy mode around the corner!
What are you waiting for? Go take a spin in the new DAF XG/XG+ and Start the Future! Don't forget to share a screenshot or video of your new DAF XG/XG+ on Twitter or Instagram under the #StartTheFuture hashtag! Tag both SCS Software and DAF Trucks (Twitter, Instagram) and you might win something cool kindly provided from the DAF Trucks merchandise shop!
You may have noticed that Steam is currently running the Open World sale. We consider ourselves pioneers of the open-world exploration genre with our truck sims, and we are happy that both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator have been included in such an offer among other great titles.
We had a really fantastic time with our #BestCommunityEver on our developer stream yesterday. It was a pleasure to present our progress on Convoy, our take on implementing multiplayer support into our games Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
Currently, this new feature is still under testing in Experimental Beta for American Truck Simulator. But as of the upcoming Update 1.41, Convoy will give you a chance to enjoy both games with your friends! We thought that this is a great opportunity for us to make it a no-brainer for loyal fans of either of our games to pick up the other title if they are still missing it in their game library. We have created a special time-limited Open World Trucking Bundle through which anyone can easily grab ETS2 and/or ATS. No excuses, everyone will be ready to join their friends' convoys!
The sale is already underway and it will end on May 31st at 10:00AM PDT (5PM UTC). Besides both of the games being on sale individually, the whole bundle will be a part of the sale too. Also, don't forget to check out some of our other games and DLC as they are receiving a discount as well.
Our office received some interesting material this morning. Coming from a professional truck spotter, who wanted to remain anonymous, we received some very exciting photos of a never-before-seen truck.
As photographed, the vehicle was covered in a special camouflage wrap typically used by manufacturers to obscure a vehicle's shapes, lines and unique elements, to make it hard to discern exactly how a new vehicle model will look like before its official reveal.
For now, further details are still unknown to us, but one thing is clear, there will be a new truck for any trucker or fan of Euro Truck Simulator 2 to look forward to.
Since the release of Iberia for Euro Truck Simulator 2, truckers from around the world have been taking part in the #CruisingIberia event! In just over a week, you've smashed the community goal of 250,000,000kms! That is incredible!
So far, more than 30,000 truckers in Euro Truck Simulator 2 have achieved their personal goal of completing delivery to or from any 20 unique Iberian cities, with thousands more already working towards their goal. Not to mention our social media profiles are still receiving a lot of amazing posts and photos under the #CruisingIberia hashtag!
So, in an effort to give players more time to finish their personal goal and to explore Iberia at a more leisurely pace, we've decided to extend the #CruisingIberia event until Sunday, July 11th 23:59 UTC!
If you would like to take part and earn free in-game rewards, make sure to read all the requirements and rules at our previous dedicated blogpost by clicking here or at http://WorldofTrucks.com.
We know how much our players love to take photos! From rest stops to landmarks, our social media channels receive hundreds of photos each week of drivers on their virtual travels in ETS2 and ATS! That is why we are happy to share with you a peek at one of our upcoming features in development for the in-game photo mode in 1.41.
We understand that lots of you take your time to get the perfect shot, and for many, this also includes finding the right lighting conditions and weather.
Be sure to let us know in the comments your thoughts on this new feature. We look forward to sharing more upcoming 1.41 development news with you in the future!

Also, we highly suggest you read the full regulations here.
The winner, along with the winning design, will be revealed later this year in the summer at a very special event in Lyon, France. This is where the winning designer will be invited by Renault Trucks, to be the star of the night, to reveal the truck and to test-drive it as well!*
*The planned reward of an expenses-paid trip to the launch event in Lyon might be subject to change, as neither SCS Software nor Renault Trucks can guarantee that future COVID-19 travel and safety restrictions will allow such an event to take place.
