We are glad to announce that DCS: Syria is approaching it’s final stages of development. This map covers most of the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, it includes several climatic zones and territories of 5 states - Syria, Israel, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan.
Since the times of Ancient Egypt, the Roman and Ottoman empires, large-scale wars were fought across these lands. Thousands of years ago these battles were fought with swords and arrows, today these areas have become the theatres of grandiose air combat.
During the Arab-Israeli confrontation, Soviet MiGs, American Phantoms and French Mirages fought here. And today almost the entire arsenal of DCS combat aircraft and helicopters rises into the sky above this territory.
DCS Syria will bring 32 aerodromes including the international airports of Damascus, Beirut, Adana and Haifa.
We have been enhancing the core of DCS World. With your feedback and the release of DCS: The Channel, we have been able to streamline texture and save game pre-loading. We are still working on the F/A-18C Hornet and F-16C Viper features and will share more information at a later date.
For this Open Beta Update, our focus has been on some earlier DCS World modules, with the aim of setting the standard across our range of modules. Various Second World War campaigns by Reflected Simulations have been updated and now include the P-47D Thunderbolt as an AI aircraft. This includes the LF Mk.IX Spitfire The Big Show Campaign.
The F-14B Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations has received aerodynamic updates and increased compatibility with DCS: Supercarrier.
The MiG-21bis first phase cockpit build was pushed to fix bugs in the external model. The volumetric lights for the gauges are new and we look forward to your feedback regarding any FPS loss.
The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) DCS: AV-8B Night Attack V/STOL is a single-engine ground-attack aircraft of the second generation Harrier Jump Jet family.
The Spanish and Italian Navy both actively operate the AV-8B V/STOL. The Night Attack was first seen causing real havoc with the United States Marine Corps during the Gulf War of 1991. Since then it has served in multiple large operations, most notably the Iraq War of 2003 where 60 AV-8Bs were involved in over 2,000 sorties and enabled 24-hour ground force support. The marvellous machine continues to provide exceptional realism and withholds many features a Hornet Pilot could only dream of.
Capable of vertical or short takeoff and landing (V/STOL), the Anglo-American development is the perfect addition to your aircraft-carrier compatible modules.
DCS: The Channel Map is now available in Early Access. Our map of the South East of England and North Eastern France encompasses historical airfields, urban areas, roads and railways, ports and other features that make it the perfect setting for the World War II air war in Europe between 1940 and 1945.
This highly detailed map also provides a wonderful opportunity to mass deploy ground assets and to re-enact epic air battles and enjoy ground operations not yet seen in DCS World.
This week we Introduce the heavyweight Republic P-47D Thunderbolt, which first took to the skies in May, 1941. Nicknamed the Jug, it was a real workhorse of the Allied victory, weighing nearly twice as much as the British Spitfire. Fully loaded, it could deliver about half the payload of a B-17 Flying Fortress.
The P-47D was popular amongst pilots, with an astounding safety record, a roomy cockpit and an enhanced visibility bubble canopy. The Republic Aviation factories in New York, Indiana and Buffalo assembled 15,600 units between 1942 and 1945. The Pratt & Whitney R-2800-59 Double Wasp radial engine enabled the Juggernaut to keep up with the nimble and lightning-fast North American P-51D Mustang. Thunderbolts were sent to Britain, France and even the Soviet Union, where they largely served in interceptor roles.
The new DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt is designed to work on the latest DCS World 2.5.6 and is not compatible with previous versions. It takes advantage of our latest graphics and texture technology, enabling you to push the limits of your system, whilst maintaining good frame rates.
We hope you will enjoy this update to the World War II era product range and look forward to your constructive feedback, which helps us deliver better products.
As stated in previous news, we have spent a lot of time performing Computational Fluid Dynamics research. Almost 250 different calculations for every missile variant have been made. Our results have enabled us to simulate aerodynamic characteristics with a much higher level of accuracy.
In contrast to the old missile dynamics model, the new one includes stability and control characteristics. We have calculated missile mechanical properties such as center of gravity and moment of inertia before ignition and after burnout. More major updates include; revised data for rocket motor performance, ballistics and range. Development of a velocity-altitude adaptive autopilot. Frequency response with the addition of deflection acceleration feedback. The construction of the electromechanical fin actuator assembly and Step response reaction control system. Autopilot and lofted trajectory for long-range shots.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the F/A-18C Hornet roadmap poll. It has helped us plan the next list of deliverables for 2020. Read the full list of features here.
This week we introduce the first iteration of the air-to-ground radar for the F/A-18C Hornet. This first version models MAP mode and allows you to search for and designate target locations. Later, we will be adding other modes like the EXPAND levels, Ground Moving Target, SEA, and Terrain.
In the next update, we have both air-to-ground and air-to-air updates for the Hornet targeting pod. This includes more realistic AG tracking modes and FLIR tracking of aerial targets in cooperation with the radar.
In this week's update, we explore the inclusion of the IN ZONE LAUNCH ACCEPTABLE REGION (IZLAR) for the JDAM. This provides additional delivery information and will be tied to the later inclusion of pre-planned IZLARs and multiple attack points. Watch the video here.
We hope that these videos help you learn the new features of the F/A-18C and look forward to your feedback.
Thank you for your passion and support and as always, fly safe.

In this video, we would like to update you on the status of our F-16C Viper and instruct you on the upcoming ability to create new steerpoints in the INS navigation system database.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvzxfqymFq0 In the next update, we have both air-to-ground and air-to-air updates for the Hornet targeting pod. This includes more realistic AG tracking modes and FLIR tracking of aerial targets in cooperation with the radar.
Targeting Pod Offset
Once a target is in a tracked area or point point, the offset function allows you to shift the aimpoint or move the targeting pod track center. This is a useful function when changing targeting from the initial designation point without having to revert back to snowplow mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr7--PXczpM
Targeting Pod Moving Target Track
To track a target with the Hornet targeting pod, we recommend using the FLIR camera as it provides more contrast to lock on to. Place the crosshairs in front of the target in an stabilized action slew mode, then set to no-action slew area track, and then to a no-action point track mode.
In this week's update, we explore the inclusion of the IN ZONE LAUNCH ACCEPTABLE REGION (IZLAR) for the JDAM. This provides additional delivery information and will be tied to the later inclusion of pre-planned IZLARs and multiple attack points.
This week we introduce the first iteration of the air-to-ground radar for the F/A-18C Hornet. This first version models MAP mode and allows you to search for and designate target locations. Later, we will be adding other modes like the EXPAND levels, Ground Moving Target, SEA, and Terrain Avoidance. This is the first step.
The AGM-84E SLAM land attack missile is a stand-off, precision attack weapon that provides man-in-the loop guidance. It is ideal for long range attack against heavily defended ground targets. The SLAM is just one of the many interesting weapon of the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet.
DCS World 2.5.6 represents one of the biggest updates since the launch of DCS World 2.5 and offers powerful new tools capable of CPU load distribution and FPS management when using peripheral hardware. Many of the improvements in this update are thanks to your feedback and requests, we can’t wait to hear what you think.
Over two thousand bugs were identified and squashed in 2.5.6 Open Beta.
Rota Island, also known as the Friendly Island is 19km in length and has a population of 3,500 people. It is the southernmost island of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. It has been modelled in extraordinary detail and is close to completion.
We continue to work on the organised, unincorporated territory of the United States in Micronesia; Guam. This island was captured by the Japanese in 1941 and occupied for almost 3 years. The American forces recaptured the island on the 21st of July, 1944; Liberation Day commemorates this victory. Special attention is being given to the Andersen Air Force Base located approximately 4km northeast of Yigo. Andersen AFB is one of two critical air bases in the Asia Pacific region. Guam’s almost unrestricted airspace and it’s close proximity to the Farallon de Medinilla Island, a naval bombing range 250km north, make it an ideal training environment. Andersen AFB is home to 36th Wing (PACAF), 734th Air Mobility Support Squadron (Air Mobility Command) and Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Twenty-Five (HSC-25).
We continue to improve the cross balance of colour and gamma between terrain textures (vegetation and ground), trees and other objects (infrastructure). The water’s fluidity, colour and transparency have also been tuned for more realistic characteristics. See screenshots.
We are now working on the P-47D Thunderbolt and The Channel Early Access Map and look forward to sharing the progress with you over the coming weeks.

The new Open Beta encompasses a large number of updates to the environment. A number of Campaigns have also been revised to ensure that they are compatible and accessible.
The F/A-18C Hornet and F-16C Viper have both received major updates. We have done what we can to include many of the community's requests, especially in regards to the Hornet’s litening pod. Our third-party partners have also been hard at work with updates to the M-2000 Mirage and the AV-8B Night Attack by RAZBAM. Notably, Heatblur Simulations have released substantial updates to the F-14B Tomcat and the ASJ37 Viggen.
DCS: Supercarrier is the most detailed and realistic simulation of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier ever created. In total, the US Navy manufactured 10 Nimitz class ships. Our product will include all 5 vessels of the Theodore Roosevelt sub-class: CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt, CVN-72 Abraham Lincoln, CVN-73 George Washington, CVN-74 John C Stennis, CVN-75 Harry S. Truman. We know that you have waited a long time for this complex module to deliver. The workload has been intense and we would like to thank all of those who put in the extra hours needed to meet this ultimate deadline, you know who you are. We are confident this powerful new module will inspire every one of us.
This week marks the completion of the first set of features for DCS: Supercarrier. Read about the detailed list of features available in DCS: Supercarrier Early Access.
F/A-18C AG Radar
Development Report
We had planned to release the A/G radar this week but due to technical reasons, this has been moved to 3rd of June.
At Early Access launch, Case 1, Case 2, and Case 3 will be supported. After Early Access will we do additional work to include pattern re-entry after a wave off or bolter, and Automatic Carrier Landing (ACL) support.
If you do not own the Supercarrier module, you will not be able to spawn on the deck to take off or catch an arresting wire to land. You would also not be able to take advantage of the new radio communications, the Ready Room, LSO, Station, and Air Boss Station.
The Free for All event has been one of our most rewarding yet, bringing together our global community of developers, aviators and enthusiasts who enjoy trial access to all of our modules. It has provided an opportunity to showcase skills, gain expertise and given us a chance to learn as we work and to build a better flight combat experience.
Please note that the Steam Free For All Sale started on the 13th and will continue until the 27th of May. Enjoy!
Supercarrier
