DCS: Supercarrier Update Since our last update on this eagerly awaited module, our team has been focused on several core features of simulation of a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier:
Creating the most accurate and detailed carrier model ever created for a flight simulation. This is not simply an update to the existing John C. Stennis aircraft carrier that we released last year, but rather a new object that is built from the ground up with accurate dimensions, high-resolution mesh and textures; animations for the elevators, antennas, defense systems, launch officer bubble, risers, catapults, jet blast deflectors, and more. The module will include unique skins for all ships of the Roosevelt sub-class that includes the Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), George Washington (CVN73), John C. Stennis (CVN-74), and the Harry S. Truman (CVN-75). Not only will there be the correct names and CVN numbers, but we also plan unique textures and deck weathering for each ship!
The Supercarrier will include the most accurate simulation of carrier communications you have ever heard in a game. This includes Case I, II, and III operations and unique voice overs for departure, marshal, approach, tower, the landing signal officer (LSO), and even messages over the 5 MC. Many of these parts are voiced by service members that filled the actual roles! We will also include the needed voice over files to support all aircraft types that have flown from a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, including the F-14.
To make the carrier deck feel alive, deck crew is a must. We are doing this through a combination of static-placed deck crew with animations that mission creators can place and fully pathed and animated deck crew that support launch operations from all four catapults. We are pushing this feature past anything that has been done before.
In addition to these three core areas, we are also working on / planning:
Up to 18 spawning locations on the carrier deck.
Flood lights in addition to standard lighting.
Long Range Laser Lineup System.
Barricade net.
Deck equipment like the crane, fire truck, and mules.
Detailed Landing Signal Officer (LSO) station with functional panels to control cut lights, wave off lights, manual ball control, and PLAT camera. This can be crewed while in VR.
“Burble” effect behind the carrier.
Air Boss station that can also be occupied in VR and allow control of the flood lights, barricade, and view the PLAT camera.
Immersive, 3D, Ready Room with functions to view briefings, load aircraft, view PLAT camera, vie the “Greenie Board”, view kill board that is tied to online statistics. All of this with a VR option.
Combined Arms support for steering the carrier and using weapons.
At this time, we have no release date or pricing, but they will be available at our very soonest.

We will soon be releasing the AGM-84D Harpoon anti-ship cruise missile into the DCS World Open Beta. This will be very much a work-in-progress but will still provide most of the fundamentals of using this weapon system. Later in early access we will add R/BL mode (once the SEA mode of the A/G radar is included) and the pop-up (POP) terminal attack mode.
You can read about the Harpoon in much greater detail in the DCS World Open Beta Hornet Guide that can be found in:
C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Doc
There are known issues regarding the damage level the Harpoon can inflict and guidance of multiple Harpoons without re-setting launch parameters.
We apologize for the blank newsletter today. For the first time since we started the newsletters we suffered a glitch in the delivery process. We hope it will be the first and last! We are working to fix this asap.
In the meantime, here are some screenshots of the upcoming DCS: Supercarrier!
We apologise for the hiccup and trust you will have a wonderful weekend.
Despite some good videos on using the Litening targeting pod with laser-guided bombs, there still seems to be some confusion. Here is a simple checklist:
1- Master Arm to ARM. 2- Master Mode to AG. 3- Select an LGB (LG82, LG83, or LG84) from the SMS page. 4- Set LGB MODE to AUTO (PB 5). Will show as CCIP until Target Point is set. 5- Set LGB MFUZ to OFF (PB 4). 6- Set LGB EFUZ to INST (PB 3). 7- Set LGB CODE to 1688 (or any valid code that matches the pod code) (PB 1 and then UFC) 8- FLIR switch on SNSR panel to ON. 9- LTD/R switch on SNSR panel to ARM. 10- Display FLIR on DDI/MPCD (FLIR at PB 6 on TAC page). 11- Sensor Control Switch (SCS) in direction of the display with FLIR. For example: if FLIR is on the right DDI, press SCS right. TDC assignment indicated by diamond in top/right corner. 12- Slew FLIR crosshair over target using TDC slew [, . / ;]. 13- Designate FLIR pointing location as Target Point by pressing [ENTER] or depress TDC switch. Attack mode switches from CCIP to AUTO with ASL and Target Point on HUD. 14- Enable (box) TRIG (PB 11) on FLIR page. 15- Ensure FLIR UFC CODE matches LGB CODE. 16- Conduct standard LGB AUTO attack. Line up velocity vector with ASL and hold down weapon release button [RALT + Spacebar] shortly before bomb fall line passes through the velocity vector. 17- At 15 seconds before Time To Impact (TTI), press and hold trigger button [Spacebar] to fire the laser. In general, conduct attack between 20-25k at no less than 350kts.

Launch of the ED Miles! On 1st August 2019 at 0900, we launched the new ED Miles rewards system!
ED Miles are similar in many ways to airline miles and can be earned/awarded and used as follows:
Regardless if a product has just been released, is already on sale or in pre-purchase, you will always earn ED Miles on the price you paid for the purchase. For each purchase, you will earn 10% of the Purchase Price in ED Miles. As an example: if you purchase something for USD 29.99 you will be awarded 2990 ED Miles worth USD 2.99 on the DCS World e-Shop.
You can use ED Miles to purchase any product participating in the program, regardless if they are just released, already on sale, or as a pre-purchase!
There is no limit on the number of ED Miles you can use for a purchase. If you have enough ED Miles, you can even pay for an entire product just using ED Miles.
ED Miles earned are valid for three calendar years from the time of your last DCS World e-Shop purchase.
Note that ED Miles cannot be redeemed for cash or any other conversion, and a list of 3rd parties participating in the program will be provided at launch.
