The Enemy Within 3.0 is a complete remake of the critically-acclaimed The Enemy Within campaign for the A-10C Warthog.
This campaign requires DCS: A-10C Warthog.
This story-driven campaign puts you in cockpit of the Warthog as part of a small, 6-ship US detachment sent to Georgia. Your mission is to help contain a growing threat from a terrorist organization calling itself the "Caucasus Liberation Army" (CLA). As the story unfolds, you will be faced with a variety of challenges, including close air support, precision strikes, combat search and rescue, anti-ship strikes, and even air to air combat.
Striving to be as realistic as possible, the units featured in the campaign are based on their real-life counterparts. It also uses a sophisticated radio control system, meaning that you must tune your on-board radios to the correct frequency to hear the more than 2000 custom voiceovers available throughout 21 missions.
Compared to the original campaign, version 3.0 offers following great additions and changes:
20 out of 21 missions have been rewritten from scratch. This includes the course of action, dialogues, briefings and background information.
More than 2/3 of the missions take place in different locations than the original ones, and most feature different challenges and enemies to provide a completely new experience, 3 entirely new missions that are designed to complement and extend the storyline.
The 8 pilot and 3 commander characters featured throughout the campaign have almost 4x more custom voiceovers (over 2100).
Additional documents and custom kneeboard pages are available for each sortie.
Network protocol changed, old servers are not visible

One of the best things about DCS is the powerful Mission Editor, it can be daunting when first looking at mission creating, but there are many great tutorials out there for the Mission Editor, as well, work is on going for improving documentation to include the many new features that have been added over time.
DCS World Update This week we moved both the DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations and DCS: MiG-19P Farmer by RAZBAM Simulations out of Open Beta and into the Release version of DCS World. Congratulations to both teams!
Additionally, other numerous changes have been moved to the Release version from the previous Open Betas:
Dedicated server that allow running of a server remotely and without simulation graphics. This allows the dedicated server to be run on less powerful computers.
Changes to DCS World that include improved ground unit like sight engagement calculations, improved performance, better stability, improvements to the Mission Editor and Multiplayer, corrected scripts, and others.
Many changes and fixes to the RAZBAM AV-8B NA and M-2000C and the AvioDev C-101.
Great additions to the Hornet that include datalink/MIDS, more realistic IFF, NCTR, HARM TOO mode, SA page improvements, and many other improvements and corrections.
MiG-19P Farmer on Steam In addition to moving the MiG-19 to the Release version of DCS World, we have also released the MiG-19P to Steam this week.
The MiG-19P Farmer was designed by the legendary Mikoyan Design Bureau in the Early 1950’s. The MiG-19 fighter was the Soviet Union’s first true supersonic Interceptor that could exceed Mach 1 in level flight.
Designed to take on enemy fighters and bombers at any time of day or night and in any weather condition, the Farmer was equipped with the RP-5 lzumrud radar in the nose and armed with two NR-30 30mm cannons in the wing roots. The Farmer is also able to carry an array of ground attack weapons that includes S-5M rockets and various general-purpose bombs. It is a lethal interceptor with conventional ground attack capabilities.
We are proud to bring you this exciting addition to DCS World. The Farmer is highly-optimized to work within DCS World and takes advantage of its unrivalled combat environment that only Eagle Dynamics can offer.
Key Features that the MiG-19 Farmer for DCS World by RAZBAM include:

Free Maps and Assets Pack for Dedicated Servers With the release of the dedicated server, the most requested item from clients has been that dedicated servers no longer must purchase maps and asset packs to host missions. We have been listening, and new feature will be brought to you next week with the 10th April Open Beta! Dedicated servers with “no-render” option activated will be able to host all DC World maps and asset packs for free! We see DCS World Online as a critical feature of DCS World to move forward, and the ability to run interesting and varied mission servers is a great thing for you, clients, and us.
In addition, we will be working on further ways to improve and expand the DCS World online experience.

While not strictly Hornet news but certainly related, the improved carrier environment is moving ahead quickly:
1- The new Nimtiz-class aircraft carrier is nearing an early access release. There are a few items to first clean up like deck weathering, the bow catapult controller bubble, and elevator rails, but it's coming along great. Once a bit further along, GA will make a spectacular video and we'll discuss the features in greater detail. Once this is done, we'll return to the Kuznetsov and then the Burke.
2- The deck crew animation for the bow cats is about done, and work has started on the waist cat launch animations for deck crew. This will also be using our new skeletal animation system.
3- CASE I radio communications are now working and being tuned. Once that is done, CASE II and III will be coded. All voice over lines for pilot, marshal, tower, approach, LSO, and departure have been recorded with several authentic personalities.
Our goal is to create the most realistic carrier environment ever done for a PC (entertainment and commercial). All in all, the carrier environment is going to be quite cool!
With its release on Steam now, lets take a look at the DCS: MiG-19P Farmer by RAZBAM. The MiG-19P Farmer was designed by the legendary Mikoyan Design Bureau in the Early 1950’s. The MiG-19 fighter was the Soviet Union’s first true supersonic Interceptor that could exceed Mach 1 in level flight.

DCS: Fw 190 A8 First flights
We would like to share some exciting news on the progress of the Fw 190 A8 for DCS World. As we approach the 80th anniversary of the first flight of the Fw 190 back in the spring of 1939, the module for DCS World has taken its own first flight internally. As you can see in the included screenshots, while still early, progress is moving along at a good pace. With this new module comes some new features, such as the new fan-assisted air cooling model introduced to the oil cooling and engine air intake system.
Starting from the A8 oil cooler, the system will hold true with our current engineering approach and use the same math for radiators which has become much more efficient in compiling (saving time and minimizing mistake probability) as well as adding new opportunities for integration with the new Damage Model. Because of this it will handle punctures and over-heating correctly and is a much more robust system regarding any weird combination of input parameters. Eventually, this new system will replace the old one in all WWII aircraft.
The Fw 190 was designed by engineer and Test pilot Kurt Tank. The team he assembled to create this new fighter from the outset wanted a design with a much different approach than what was taken for the Bf 109. The design was to be a smaller tougher and easier to maintain. Inspired by a captured I-16 Rata, which was able to out turn the faster Bf 109, the Germans could see the benefit of the shorter wings and smaller design, wrapped around a powerful radial engine.
The A8 variant was the largest produced version of the Fw 190 and should provide an excellent opponent to the current plane set in DCS World, especially the Spitfire IX. Enjoy this sneak peek at the progress on this module, and stay tuned for more news in the not so distant future.
