DCS: Iraq Development Report
Progress continues on DCS: Iraq!

Work continues on the DCS: Iraq North Map as part of an upcoming update, with a strong focus on improving realism, landmark detail, and airfield authenticity.

Many airfields have received significant upgrades, including Al-Kut, Al-Taji, Al-Asad, Al-Sahra, Al-Salam, Al-Taquddum, Qayyarah, Kirkuk, Sulaimaniyah, Balad, Mosul, H2, H3, and K-1. These updates incorporate layout refinements, improved surroundings, and better integration with surrounding terrain and locations.

Several new dams and other distinctive terrain features and recognizable geography will be added. These include Alwand, Fallujah, Haditha, Hemrin, the Diyala Weir, Kut Barrage, and Ramadi Barrage. Many of these locations were key strategic points during operations in Iraq. For example, in 2003, the Battle of Haditha Dam took place with the goal of capturing and protecting the dam from destruction by Iraqi forces. It was key to Baghdad’s power network, and its destruction could have caused major flooding along the Tigris River Valley.

To further enhance regional identity, several new, distinctive objects have been introduced, including the Erbil Martyrs Monument, the Qayyarah Control Tower, the Al-Rahman Mosque, the Al-Asad Fire Station, and additional bespoke structures. Alongside these additions, we continue to apply broad improvements to scenes and textures across Northern Iraq to raise overall visual consistency and detail.

DCS: Iraq South Map

Development has now shifted significantly toward the DCS: Iraq South Map, which is currently the focus area of DCS: Iraq map development.

Work is progressing across all core elements, including airfields, cities, road networks, and terrain building. This phase represents the foundation of the southern region, with large-scale layout, infrastructure placement, and environmental work underway to support future detailing and refinement.

We look forward to sharing more as DCS: Iraq South Map continues to take shape and DCS: Iraq North Map moves closer to its next update.

The Strike Fighter League
Looking for the best of the best!

We at Eagle Dynamics are excited to introduce the team behind the Strike Fighter League (SFL). This professional competition is dedicated to preserving and advancing the discipline of strike fighter aviation.

For more than a century, fighter aviation has demanded sharp thinking, physical control, disciplined execution, and fast decisions under pressure. Those attributes are proven through performance.

The team behind The Strike Fighter League (SFL) set out to create a competition format that emphasizes those fundamentals through organized, rules-based events. The SFL is designed to highlight mastery in a way DCS pilots already respect: standardized setups, transparent scoring, and consistent conditions that reward energy management, situational awareness, timing, geometry, and tactical decision-making.

Meaningful stakes and structured competition make skill visible. The SFLs intent is to showcase elite virtual pilots, recognize true mastery with clear outcomes, and build a spectator-friendly presentation without compromising the standards that make DCS credible.

If you’re part of the DCS community and you care about realism, high standards, and serious competitive flying, follow the Strike Fighter League. Learn more on their website and join the discussion on Discord.

DCS World Steam Edition - NineLine
Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

With the holiday break behind us, DCS development has resumed with our first update of 2026. This release includes a wide range of core, module, and campaign improvements that cover weapons, DTC and general tuning. The DCS: F-16C, DCS: AH-64D, DCS: F/A-18C, and other modules received well-deserved updates to their avionics, weapons, and manuals. Campaign creators continued to refine their work based on testing and community feedback. Highlights are below, and the full changelog is available here.

We’re hosting a DCS: C-130J livery contest in partnership with Airplane Simulation Company and WINCTRL. The top ten submissions will be integrated into DCS, and each creator will be credited by name in the official manual. The top three liveries will receive even more exciting prizes, and as a twist, we have a challenge for the talented artists in the DCS community! Details below!

The Grayflag server delivers a persistent DCS multiplayer experience where player actions shape the battlefield. Campaigns evolve as territory is captured or lost, supply lines are built or disrupted, and front lines shift through teamwork and coordinated operations, and not isolated sorties.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

New Update
DCS 2.9.24.19998

As we and our 3rd party partners return from the holiday break, work has resumed on the DCS Core, modules, and campaign fixes. In this first update of 2026 you will also find a number of weapon fixes, and DTC tweaks and fixes. The DCS: F-16C, DCS: AH-64D, DCS: F/A-18C, and other aircraft got some much-deserved avionics, weapons, and manual ajustments and improvements. And not to be outdone, our Campaign Creators were busy improving their products based on testing and valuable customer feedback. Read the highlights below, and check out the full changelog here.

DCS Core

Weapon fuze behavior and submunition performance continues to be refined in the DCS Core that includes improved bombsight accuracy for dispensers with altimeter fuzes. The AB-250 and AB-500 cluster bombs get new bomblet fuze settings. AB-250 dispersion is corrected when carrying SD-2. The SD-2 receives updated fuze logic and adjusted warhead parameters. New fuze options have been added for the CBU-52 and M117, and he SAB-100/SAB-250 sequence is reworked with new fuze selections.

This update also addresses DTC GUI errors that cause empty Threat Tables, including those that occur after using the delete command. It fixes invisible static objects and resolves DCS-specific issues: Arrow navigation in the Airdrome tab, steerpoint highlighting on the map, and airfield-tab highlighting.

DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum by Eagle Dynamics

The DCS: MiG-29A update delivers a mix of stability improvements and avionics refinements that includes a crash fix tied to AEKRAN, corrections to canopy jettison handle behavior, and corrections to the Attitude Director Indicator (ADI) geometry. Russian localization is now available for single missions. The Infrared Search and Track (IRST) system has been improved with corrected target lock and display cues in Close Combat (CC) mode, improved scanning in CC mode, and new Optical-Tactical Symbology (OPT, known as NOLA) for gun and rocket targeting. The SPO-15 radar warning receiver gains more flexible Mission Editor failure options and new Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) control over launch-warning logic. Broader database updates address tracking radar behavior and adding missing radar definitions for the Ropucha landing ship and Tu-95MS bomber.

DCS: F/A-18C by Eagle Dynamics

The DCS: F/A-18C update fixes IR Maverick tracking issues caused by terrain objects or behaving unpredictably when tracking trains (both scenery and player-placed). The update also improves bombing accuracy by correcting the centre aim point for AUTO and CCIP when multiple bombs are released. Finally, a DTC-related issue was resolved: Failing to load the DTC could invalidate the Cue and Guard radio frequencies.

DCS: AH-64D by Eagle Dynamics

The DCS: AH-64D has received an update to George AI, the helicopter's crew assistance system and its Fire Control Radar (FCR). The update provides clearer target identification (ID) labels, an improved George AI Target List display, and fixes issues when selecting and engaging multiple targets. This update also improves the AI Pilot Auto Handover option that results in smoother pilot-in-command transitions. Additional fixes address problems with the radar display, the Mission Editor Night Vision Goggle (NVG) setting retention, and the engine LOCKOUT/FLY mode recovery issue. The update adds an FCR Terrain Profile Mode (TPM) section to the manual. Other manual additions include instruction on the Player-as-CoPilot/Gunner (CPG) and Player-as-Pilot George AI sections, and the “Consent To Fire” command has been revised to a more accurately named "Multifunctional Input (Center)".

The DCS: 2026 and Beyond video is here at last. This annual look at DCS is an opportunity for us to thank you for your support and commitment and give you a glimpse into some of things to come. Enjoy the video here. Thank you for helping us live our best lives and for making our dreams come true!

Work on DCS: Afghanistan continues. Community feedback drives fixes and optimization of the DCS: Southwest Afghanistan and DCS: East Afghanistan maps. DCS: North Afghanistan progresses with new airfields, roads, and airfields like Mary-1 and Mary-2 (home of the Soviet Union’s equivalent of Top Gun) in Turkmenistan. We are also reviewing historic locations such as West Kandahar (Operation Medusa), and we invite your suggestions for areas to refine or to add.

High Alpha Hooligans now run four public DCS servers powered by Fox3. There are two persistent campaign worlds: A Warbird Wednesdays server and a training range with air racing. The C-130 Super Hercules, logistics, and CTLD are active, which all make for a big gameplay experience for those interested in logistics and cargo operations. Jump in, move supplies, stir things up, and become a hero.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics

2026 and Beyond
It’s that time of year again!

We are pleased to share the DCS: 2026 and Beyond video, which looks back on what we have accomplished, what we are developing next, and an insight into some of the priorities that will shape the future of DCS. This year’s video spans modern aircraft, classic warbirds, and major improvements to the world in which they operate. You’ll see progress on aircraft projects such as the Eurofighter Typhoon, La-7N, F-1M, F-104, BO-105, and F-100D Super Sabre. You’ll also notice some interesting things coming to our core engine and to existing modules.

The video also highlights how the battlefield is becoming richer and more immersive. Our work on new infantry units continues, with significant improvements in detail, animation, and accuracy. This includes new AI routines for group behaviour, cover usage, obstacle traversal, and navmesh navigation. Terrains continue to expand and improve both visually and in their detail. This work also includes completing the remaining areas of the Afghanistan and Iraq maps. The WWII Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) effort remains a major focus with progress on the F6F Hellcat, the A6M5 “Zero”, and an extensive collection of PTO AI aircraft, ships, and ground units that bring the 1944 PTO combat environment to life.

Underpinning all of this is the continuing evolution of DCS Core. Vulkan development is in late-stage, and will unlock new capabilities, broader platform flexibility, and some improved performance. We continue to work on the Dynamic Campaign GUI and AI based on internal testing.

Thank you for flying with us and providing all the passion and support that help drive DCS forward. We hope you enjoy the video and its look into the future of DCS.

DCS: Afghanistan Dev Report
Progress continues in Afghanistan

We continue to incorporate community feedback into the DCS: Southwest Afghanistan and DCS: East Afghanistan regions of our Afghanistan map. Your reports have enabled improvements to objects, performance, terrain, and scenery. These updates will be included in future releases.

Development of DCS: North Afghanistan is progressing. We are constructing airfields, creating road networks, and developing cities, towns, villages, and waterways to ensure the same level of detail and quality as in the other regions.

Also for DCS: North Afghanistan, we have advanced work on Mary-1 and Mary-2, two Soviet-era airfields in Turkmenistan. These airfields will provide new mission-building options for both single-player and multiplayer. Mary-1 previously hosted Soviet bombers and fighters, while Mary-2 supported Afghan War operations, accommodating MiG-29 and Su-25 aircraft. The screenshots show our focus on accuracy, including the concrete slab layout and surface features. It also served as the home of the Soviet Union’s Center for Combat Employment 1521.

Based on the feedback we have already received, we continue to look at enhancing Afghan points of interest and of historic importance. For example: We are looking to improve West Kandahar, which was the site of one of the most significant NATO operations of the war, known as Operation Medusa. We continue to encourage you to share your personal or academic knowledge of areas you think are valuable for the creation of quality single and multiplayer missions. Thank you.

High Alpha Hooligans Servers
New Servers, Same Old Hooligans

The High Alpha Hooligans have gone full mad scientist! Powered by Fox3 Managed Solutions, the Hooligans offer not one, not two, but FOUR DCS playgrounds: Two persistent campaign servers, a Warbird server for Warbird Wednesdays and a training range with air racing courses because going fast in stupid places is a lifestyle.

Yes, the DCS: C-130 Super Hercules is in. Yes, logistics and CTLD are live. Yes, transporting supply crates actually matters now.

Come sling boxes, break airplanes, and accidentally become a hero (shooting down FiFi). The sandbox is open. Fly reckless. Fly HAH.

Thank you again for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

DCS World Steam Edition - NineLine

Since the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum Early Access release, we’ve focused on refining sensors and navigation, improving radar/IRST performance (including COOP), and finalizing ground-attack modes and weapons. We also continue to add some highly detailed features to the external model and cockpit. Based on community reports and pilot testimony, we’ve also improved the SPO-15LM, radar behavior, and more, please read below.

Last week, Matt “Wags” Wagner released an instruction video on the operation of the Radar and Infrared Search and Track Cooperative mode. The next Fulcrum instruction video will be on the Track-While-Scan Feature (TWF) mode. Coming soon!

Heatblur Simulations recently shared an early look at work in progress on the DCS: A-6E radar, including the Terrain Clearance mode. This is a key capability for the Intruder, and the team is steadily bringing it to life, focusing on authenticity, usability, and the kind of low-level confidence that defines the aircraft’s all-weather strike role.

Time is running out to receive 40,000 ED Miles (worth $40 in the DCS e-shop) when you buy the new Crystal Super micro-OLED VR headset. Go to https://Pimax.com and use the code DCS40K by the end of February 6th to claim yours!

MiG-29A Fulcrum
Development Update

Since the release of the DCS: MiG-29A, the team has focused mainly on correcting errors and improving the sensors and systems including the Radar/IRST suite as well as ground attack weapons and delivery modes. We are also refining the operation of the FCR (Fire Control Radar) and IRST in COOP mode and fixing errors in INS and navigation modes.

After the initial release of DCS MiG-29, we received some excellent community feedback pertaining to limitations of SPO-15LM that did not align with pilot testimony. In particular, the inability to receive signals in the forward hemisphere while the onboard radar is transmitting. We re-evaluated the technical documentation and analysed signals from the N019 Pulse-Doppler radar to the SPO-15LM and determined that while full synchronization is not possible due to hardware limitations, the actual blocking logic is software-controlled. The full report is available here:  Summary of SPO-15LM synchronization systems. Since the report was released, we have received additional pilot testimony and training materials which are currently being analysed.

We have currently made certain improvements to the simulation such as the ability to force launch warnings for specific combinations of threat types and their operating mode (search or track) via the DTC interface. Additionally, several immediate issues were fixed, and the radar parameter database was updated, with the most notable changes being to the Ropucha and Tu-95 radar reception.

Current tasks:

  • Development of the concept for the command radio control line .

  • Refinement of the logic for data processing and updating in the TWF (Track While Fly) mode.

  • Refinement of the sensitivity for the photodetector for IRST.

  • The design team continues to improve the cockpit elements and exterior models, as well as the pilot model. This includes service hatches, more detailed countermeasures dispensers, more detailed leading edge extension intakes, and new liveries. We are adding new models of missile rails and a dual bomb rack.

  • Once the external model is finalized, the template will be made available.

  • As resources become available, we plan to refine the Automatic Control System and also improve the IFF.

Heatblur A-6E Dev Report
Terrain Clearance Mode

Heatblur Simulations is proud to share some work in progress on the DCS: A-6E's radar and Terrain Clearance mode.

Since we are not blessed with the eyes of a chameleon, the Bombardier/Navigator's Radar Display and the Pilot's Analog Display Indicator (ADI) have been combined into a single debug windows that allows us to see them side by side, along with the terrain outside the cockpit for comparison. Please note that the cockpit model is a placeholder and does not represent the final product.

In the included example, the radar is in Terrain Clearance (TC) mode that restricts the display to ~8.5nm and the minimum scan angle to ~60°. The radar's primary purpose is to drive the ADI display in this mode.

During normal flight, the pilot's ADI is similar to the F-14 Tomcat’s VDI;  however, when TC mode is selected, it displays a 53° (horizontal) x 26° (vertical) pictorial representation of the terrain ahead of the aircraft based on the data supplied by the radar.

On the ADI, we see the black Horizon Line and Fiducial Markers that help mark our pitch and bank attitude. In the center are the Steering Symbol and Flight Path Lines, currently locked to the aircraft heading. Behind this symbology are displayed ten discrete bands, each representing a range contour, from ~0.25nm out to 8.5nm. Bands 1 and 7 are permanently coded with range coding bars for identification, while bands 3-6 may be selected for coding - that is, to display the vertical black bars - based on pilot input. In the example below, the pilot selects band 4 for coding.

The pilot maintains clearance over the terrain by flying the aircraft so that the Offset Impact Bar (black and green, fixed near the bottom of the screen) is situated above one of the coded bands 3-6. The selected band determines the clearance height and smoothness of the ride.

Finally, at the bottom of the screen is the dark green Altitude Curtain. This moves up and down the screen relative to the Horizon Line to represent the radar altitude. Its range is not linear and does not correspond to the terrain contour bands, but serves as a visual guide to aid piloting.

More symbology remains to be added, but hopefully, this demonstration gives some insight into the progress on a rather unique feature of the DCS A-6E Intruder.

Campaigns Past
Campaigns released in 2025

Campaigns released in 20252025 saw exciting growth in DCS single-player experiences, driven by many new high-quality, creator-developed campaigns. From historical to modern battlefield scenarios, and across a broad range of modules and maps, these additions expand gameplay variety and substantially boost the modules they were built for.

Below is a complete overview of the campaigns introduced during 2025.

DCS: F/A-18C The Rampagers Campaign By Baltic DragonIn this campaign, you’ll fly the DCS: F/A-18C as a member of VFA-83 “Rampagers” over the DCS: Syriahttps://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/terrains/syria_terrain/Map. The campaign features realistic carrier operations from the DCS: Supercarrier with detailed briefings and challenging tactical missions. The emphasis is on accurate procedures and immersion for a full and modern naval aviation experience.

The Rampagers campaign received several updates in 2025. Carrier wind-over-deck settings, departure and recovery scoring, and mission timings were also refined for accuracy. Documentation and dialogue are now more detailed. Failsafes to mission logic, corrected AI behavior, enhanced scoring, and safeguards against rare crashes and audio issues were all made. These improvements align with DCS updates to ensure the campaign remains immersive and fun.

DCS: Mosquito FBMkVI Freeman's Folly Campaign By Sunts SimulationsSet during World War II, Freeman’s Folly highlights the DCS: Mosquito FB VI's incredible and unique capabilities. The campaign focuses on low-level night operations and WWII-authentic mission design that showcases the versatility and challenges of the ‘Wooden Wonder’ strike missions over occupied Europe on the DCS: The Channel Map.

Updates to Freeman’s Folly focused on refinement and reliability. These addressed documentation and dialogue errors, and resolved mission-breaking issues such as inoperable pilot controls, missing post-attack cues, and stray debug messages. Adjustments to success criteria in select navigation and combat missions further improved mission flow and player feedback. These fixes reinforce the learning-oriented mission and ensure that narrative moments function smoothly.

DCS: F-4E Red Flag 81-2 Campaign By Reflected SimulationsThe Red Flag 81-2 Campaign has you fly the DCS: F-4E Phantom II in a challenging training environment over the DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range Map with realistic threats and scenarios. Players must master Cold War tactics like formation discipline and mission planning in situations inspired by large-scale NATO exercises.

Recent updates to Red Flag 81-2 emphasize realism, crew coordination, and continuity. Briefings and documentation are now streamlined across all missions. Enhancements to Jester AI improve waypoint selection and crew behavior. New safety triggers for AI takeoff spacing and pilot oversights help prevent mission failures without reducing difficulty. Airframe wear-and-tear persistence now links sorties, supporting the campaign’s training focus and providing a stronger sense of progression and accomplishment.

DCS: F-4E – Northern Defenders ‘Phantoms Rising’ Campaign By Flying Cyking Phantoms Rising puts you into the DCS: F-4E Phantom II over the DCS: Kola Map, focusing on air defense and escalation scenarios typical of a late Cold War scenario. A blend of intercept missions, regional defense operations, and shifting threats creates a consistent, atmospheric experience.

Improvements focused on stability, immersion, and Jester control. Updates addressed mission-specific issues, including documentation and dialogue, as well as the removal of stray debug elements. Other fixes included units that could  interfere with airbase operations. Polishing improved briefing flow, ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service) clarity, and AI slot behaviour. Some missions received adjusted threat levels, and Jester’s comms were expanded to better highlight threats and recommended tactics. These changes strengthen the campaign’s immersion and stability. The added Jester dialogue improves situational awareness and supports the Phantom’s crew-centric gameplay and Cold War experience.

DCS: P-47D Wolfpack II: Overlord Campaign By Reflected SimulationsBuilding on the Wolfpack Campaign series, Overlord places you in the DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt over Occupied Europe on the DCS: Normandy 2.0 Map in 1944. Reflected combines intense ground attack missions, challenging air-to-air battles, and nail-biting escort missions to highlight the Jug’s strengths with historically inspired scenarios.

2025 changes brought improved mission flow and player survivability, with revised survival triggers to better reflect combat outcomes and reduce unintended failures. Dialogues have corrected timings, updated map visuals, and improved in-game presentation. Mission logic, including but not limited to Luftwaffe takeoff direction, was adjusted to enhance immersion. All this improves gameplay without reducing the challenge of flying the campaign’s historically inspired, combat-first design.

DCS: A-10C II Outpost Campaign By Stone SkyThis new entry in the Outpost series centers on modern close air support operations in contested environments over the DCS: Syria Map. Designed to make full use of the DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer's sensor and weapons suite, the campaign prioritizes coordination, situational awareness, and the employment of the unique firepower that the DCS: A-10C II can dish out in support of ground forces.

Updates focused on procedures and radio discipline, removing legacy references to earlier campaigns, cutting excessive AI radio chatter, and updating radio communication logic across all missions. A mission-specific fix resolved an AH-64 takeoff issue at Al-Tanf that prevented progression late in the campaign. These changes improve situational awareness and flow, keeping the A-10C II’s CAS-focused gameplay free of unnecessary audio clutter as well as scripting distractions.

DCS: F/A-18C & DCS: F-14 Iron Tide Campaign By Sandman SimulationThis is a multi-aircraft campaign supporting both the DCS: F/A-18C and/or the DCS: F-14 Tomcat. Built around carrier strike group operations with the DCS: Supercarrier, it offers coordinated mission paths and naval aviation scenarios that support the cooperative nature of fleet-based modern air combat on the DCS: Syria Map.

Recent updates improve the campaign's consistency and realism as you progress. CAP and escort flight logic now keep AI flights in their assigned areas. Wind conditions have been adjusted to ensure proper runway use at Ramat David. Ground war calculations have been rebalanced to better reflect the impact of air superiority over the area of operation. These changes create a more coherent and realistic campaign experience while preserving its structure.

DCS: F-16C Sentry Pacific 2025 Campaign By SOB SimulationsLast, but certainly not least, Sentry Pacific 2025 brings the DCS: F-16C into a modern Pacific theater over the free DCS: Marianas Map. The campaign focuses on air defense, coalition operations, and high-tempo missions. The campaign aims to simulate present-day security challenges and the ever-changing role of multirole fighters in an unstable area of operations.

No updates have been released yet for this campaign, but SOB Simulations already has plenty waiting for you as we head into 2026!

From WWII on DCS: Normandy 2.0 Map to modern Pacific operations on the free DCS: Marianas Map, 2025 delivered some of the most diverse campaigns in DCS history, and it only looks to continue into 2026. These releases demonstrate a continued devotion to top-notch storytelling, authentic procedures, and immersive single-player experiences, ensuring compelling content for every type of virtual combat pilot, thanks to our wonderfully talented Campaign Creators.

Campaigns Present
Some Campaigns in development now

Here is a small sampling of what our passionate Campaign Creators have planned for the DCS ecosphere in 2026!

Insurrection (Operation Green Line 2) By Badger633Currently in development, Insurrection (Operation Green Line 2) is a narrative-driven DCS: F/A-18C campaign that builds on the events of DCS: F/A-18C Operation Green Line Campaign while remaining fully accessible as a standalone experience. Set in a fictional 2016 Middle Eastern conflict inspired by historical civil unrest, the campaign covers carrier and land-based operations across the DCS: Syria Map, with a strong emphasis on immersion through strong voice acting, VR-friendly design, and detailed briefings. Options for aerial refueling, AI skill levels, time-acceleration safeguards, and custom liveries further underscore a design focused on accessibility without sacrificing depth. This campaign will be an immersive, story-rich DCS: F/A-18C experience for both new and veteran virtual pilots.

DCS: F-5E Aggressors Red Flag 88-3 Campaign By Sabre-TLAPlanned for release in 2026, DCS: F-5E Aggressors Red Flag 88-3 puts the player in the role of a 65th Aggressor Squadron pilot at Nellis AFB on the DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range Map, flying the DCS: F-5E Remastered as Red Air during a full-scale Red Flag exercise. Built around real-world aggressor procedures, the campaign spotlights tactical variety that features a wide range of sortie types that are supported by extensive voice acting and exceptionally detailed briefing materials. From a design perspective, this campaign will stand out for its instructional depth and authenticity. It will be an immersive tactical experience and a comprehensive aggressor training package for virtual pilots looking to master adversary air combat within DCS.

F-15C Flaming Cliffs Basic Flight Training Qualification Campaign By Sabre-TLAAlso targeting a 2026 release, this campaign will be a structured, evaluation-driven experience focused on mastering the F-15C Flaming Cliffs through real-world-inspired performance check rides. Players will progress across core competencies that include airmanship, procedures, navigation, formation flying, emergencies, and communications, with advancement tied to qualification standards rather than scripted outcomes. Extensive voice acting and briefing material, along with dedicated practice missions, reinforce the training-first design philosophy. This campaign will feel less like a story-driven experience and more like a formal flight syllabus, well-suited to virtual pilots who value ‘By-the-book’ procedures, repeatability, and measurable skill progression within DCS.

DCS: F-16C Fangs Out Campaign By Fight's On SimulationThis will be a comprehensive DCS: F-16C “B-Course-style” training campaign that takes the player from initial qualification through advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground employment, with a strong emphasis on flying as a disciplined, combat-ready wingman. With missions spanning all possible uses of the jet on a modern battlefield, the campaign will blend demanding check rides with progressive academics, extensive documentation, and fully voiced instruction informed by real-world F-16 and JTAC experience. From a design perspective, this campaign targets virtual pilots seeking a more structured and authentic skill-building experience rather than a narrative story, delivering a challenging and rewarding syllabus that emulates a real frontline transition into the DCS: F-16C.

DCS: Spitfire IX Fight or Die Campaign By Reflected SimulationsThis campaign will continue Reflected Simulations’ DCS: Spitfire IX series by following No. 92 Squadron through 1941, a key period when the RAF shifted from defensive operations to offensive sweeps over occupied France. Centred on large-scale Circus missions and deeper cross-Channel penetrations, the campaign focuses on escalating risk, evolving tactics, and the growing confidence of Fighter Command and its pilots. This setting is an exciting choice, as it naturally supports progression, rising intensity, and historically grounded missions, making it a strong narrative and operational extension of the Spitfire’s wartime story, both in history and in DCS.

DCS: F/A-18C or DCS: F-16C Operation Shifted Focus Campaign By Wildcard SimulationsOperation Shifted Focus will be a fictional, geopolitically-grounded campaign set in August 1994. It will put you in the cockpits of either the  DCS: F/A-18C or DCS: F-16C during escalating instability in the Eastern Mediterranean on the DCS: Syria Map. Set against Operation Provide Comfort and a fragile post-civil war Lebanon, the campaign explores a rapidly shifting balance of power after changes in Syrian leadership, as regional militias threaten to reignite the conflict. The campaign’s strength lies in its plausible alternate-history framing that blends real-world operations and locations with the growing involvement of coalition airpower. This creates a setting that feels authentic, contemporary, and well-suited for multi-role modern fighters.

A-10A Flaming Cliffs & DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer Fulda Gap 1985 By Flying CykingFulda Gap 1985 will be a fictional Cold War-gone-hot campaign set during the opening days of a full-scale Warsaw Pact invasion of NATO, inspired by the Warsaw Pact military simulation exercise ‘Seven Days to the Rhine’. Taking place in the same shared universe as DCS: F-4E – Northern Defenders ‘Phantoms Rising’ Campaign, the campaign places the A-10 in the environment it was originally designed for: halting massed armored formations at close range over Central Europe. Featuring fully voiced, story-driven missions with day-by-day narrative progression, a wide range of CAS and strike taskings, and support for the A-10A, A-10C, and A-10C II, the campaign strikes a thoughtful balance between user-friendliness and battlefield details, making it equally appealing to new players and expert Hawg drivers alike.

Along with a number of other campaigns currently in development, including new WWII offerings, Western forces over Iraq, new Su-25 Campaign and more, you can expect lots to do and enjoy with your favorite modules throughout 2026 and beyond.

2026 Roadmap
Part 2

DCS F-35A and F-15C. Although the F-15C design is complete and the F-35A design is maturing, development has been a bit delayed pending additional art and engineering resource availability.

Existing Module Support. 2026 will see continued development across most aircraft, terrains, and technical modules. Work will continue on improving the Mosquito FB VI, F-16C, F/A-18C, AH-64D, CH-47F, Mi-24P, MiG-29A and other aircraft, while both the Afghan and Iraq maps will have final regions added. Supercarrier will see the introduction of the Ready Room, improved landing aid guidance, and a dynamic deck crew.

Hellcat, Zero, and WWII PTO Assets. The Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) has been a big focus for us over the past year and will continue well into 2026. This includes finalising the release of the Hellcat, the development of the iconic A6M5 “Zero”, which is currently seeing great progress. To create a great simulation of the PTO air war in 1944, many of our artists have been creating a large collection of US Navy and Imperial Japan AI aircraft, ships, and ground forces. Some of these naval vessels are to an exceptionally high level of detail and quality.

Afghanistan and Iraq Map Completion. Last year saw the addition of the eastern region to the Afghan map, and a great improvement to the entire map with more realistic terrain, trees, urban areas, and detail. We are now far along in creating the final region: Northern Afghanistan. The Iraq map also saw continued work on the northern region, and most of the Iraq map work is now focused on the southern region to include the remainder of Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and parts of Saudi Arabia.

Spherical Earth. This effort is currently on hold as we focus our resources on the Vulkan API, improved clouds and weather, better visual effects, and further virtual reality performance improvements. This remains an important feature for the future of DCS, but we’ve had to prioritise resources on these pressing tasks. We look forward to returning to this later.

New, free Su-25. The new, free Flaming Cliffs level Su-25 is nearing completion. The level of detail and photorealism is truly excellent. We want our ‘free to play’ first experience to be fabulous.

Following this free, Flaming Cliffs level Frogfoot, we will explore the development of a paid-for full fidelity Su-25 with a new external model and complete systems, sensors, weapons, radios, etc. modeling, similar to the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum.

Combined Arms 2.0. The new and greatly updated version of Combined Arms is still on the cards and awaiting development resources being made available. Some of the important items planned are VR support and a more modern and intuitive Real Time Strategy (RTS) interface/command system.

New Infantry Units. Work is steadily progressing on several types of units including US, Russian, Insurgent, and World War II units. There will be a huge improvement in the existing units regarding detail, animations, and accuracy. New infantry units have AI routines to work as a group, move between cover and traverse obstacles. The new infantry will also utilize the new navmesh technology to their advantage. Additionally, we are considering the addition of ATGM teams.

1st Person Walk Around Mode. In a recent MiG-29A video, we included a test simulation of what this might look like in DCS, and the ability to walk around and inside all assets and cargo aircraft similar to the C-130J.

AI Improvements. In almost all DCS Update changelogs, you will find a list of AI fixes and improvements. This will continue in 2026 and beyond with much of the focus being related to supporting the dynamic campaign. Aside from dynamic campaign support, other AI work will be dedicated toward dynamic Supercarrier deck crew, the new radio communication system with an emphasis on ATC and AWACS AI, air defense unit barrage fire logic when attacking aircraft, additional ground vehicles malfunctions caused by damage, tuning of dogfight and beyond visual range aerial combat, and more. We strongly suggest that you keep a close eye on the change logs.

DTC. 2025 saw the introduction of the Data Transfer Cartridge to the F-16C, F/A-18C, and MiG-29A. 2026 will continue this with a focus on navigation and line/point data, sensor and weapon data, and system configurations. We will also expand the DTC to other aircraft including the AH-64D and A-10C II.

2026 Roadmap
Part 1

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, let’s review what we will be working on. Please note that some items will not be released until after 2026.

Dynamic Campaign. Much of the remaining work involves AI aircraft improvements on both a strategic and tactical level. This ranges from logical construction of strike packages based on the target, available resources, and enemy defenses, to more tactical concerns, such as understanding package attack timelines, responses to air and ground-based defenses, and actions to take due to losses and a changing mission environment.

Closely tied to this is the design, implementation of both a post-early access Dynamic Campaign Creation tools to devise your own campaigns, but also the client-side user interface that will allow players to select and view fragmentation tasks from the Air Tasking Order (ATO), set strategic objectives manually or automatically, view the strategic disposition of forces and resources, and configure your flight and DTC.

The ground combat element of the Dynamic Campaign is also undergoing extensive AI development which includes ground force interactions in attack and defense, the correct use of artillery within large formations, inclusion of the morale system that factors the level of losses that could initiate a retreat or rout.

In conjunction with the development, internal testing is ongoing at various scales with different ground and air force compositions across all DCS maps. From small-scale confrontations along borders with aviation support, to full-scale conflicts utilizing all available forces, both the strategic and tactical AI and interface are in deep development and testing.

This effort has been underway for approximately five years, and substantial progress has been made. Despite taking much longer than we ever expected we are meeting our expectations and raising the bar from our initial design specification.

Vulkan and Multithreading Improvements. Vulkan API work is very much in late stage development and will  permit us to take advantage of technologies such as frame generation and later versions of DLSS and FSR. Moving to the Vulkan API will also allow DCS to operate on more than just Windows PCs.

While we’re actively developing the Vulkan backend, we’re also expanding ray tracing support. By 2026, we plan to first roll out ray tracing in cockpits and then gradually extend it across all of DCS. Completing the transition to Vulkan not only unlocks modern rendering technologies but it also gives us the flexibility to implement aggressive optimizations for terrain, 3D models, and visual effects.

Additionally, we’re investing in manual VRAM management and granular resource streaming. This ensures that DCS stays within strict memory limits without relying on OS-enforced GPU resource evictions. As a result, we will have fewer stutters and lag spikes (even in large-scale missions or on systems with limited VRAM) alongside dynamic visual quality adjustments tailored to your hardware.

All in all, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for cutting-edge graphics features and major performance upgrades.

Regarding multi-threading, this effort is now complete for the graphics side, but there are more simulation side tasks to complete. However, some of these specific engineers are currently also assisting with improved logistics, AI, improved ground unit behaviour, and other tasks. They will return to the simulation side of multi-threading once some of these more pressing matters based on community feedback are addressed.

Improved Weather. This important aspect of DCS still requires work specifically to towering clouds, more realistic turbulence, and weather fx. Due to substantial changes in how we render graphics, we could not advance these features in 2025. However, once staff is available to return to these tasks, we will update you on all progress made.

Improved Explosions and Visual Effects. We are currently working on substantially improving the variety and realism of all our types of explosions including airburst effects, napalm, fragmentation effects and damage types. We will be rolling out new fx on an ongoing basis throughout 2026 and beyond.

New Terrain Navmesh. New navmesh technology that was developed for the Dynamic Campaign will provide AI improved ground unit pathfinding, even in dense object populated areas. This will allow us to address long standing issues of pathfinding in urban areas. This new navmesh can be generated dynamically and work within the DCS engine to build a mesh for the chosen area, or for whole map, depending on performance considerations. It is currently in the final testing phase.

New Air Traffic Control and Other Radio Communications. A highly requested feature has been a much more realistic, easy-to-use, and more realistic sounding radio system. Aside from the recent Petrovich and George interfaces, much of the DCS radio environment has relied on outdated nested windows, simplified radio dialogs and options, and human-recorded voice over lines that can be difficult to amend. We have developed a new design of the radio interface for all radio participants. This includes ATC, AWACS, Tanker, JTAC, Flight, etc. that are loosely based on the George interface. We are also testing and evaluating new AI voice-over options that will allow us to rapidly amend voice dialogs. We are working closely with subject matter experts to create an authentic radio environment specifically for the combat environment with a deep focus on pure military dialog which is substantially more economical than in the civilian ATC world.

DCS Voice Chat will also see further improvements including the ability to add radio stations to any AI bot or map object and communicate with them using Voice Chat and adding a lightweight radio client that will allow direct connection to DCS servers.

Mission State Save. Mission State Save was introduced in 2025, and we are continuing its improvement. While making an exhaustive save of the entire mission state is a monumental task given the complexity of our simulation engine, we opted to address the most popular demand and save the most relevant aspects of the mission data. This includes ground unit and aircraft positions, their operational status and waypoint coordinates, etc. We have already delivered most of the community-requested API functions. Next on our list is to add Advanced Waypoint parameters to the saved data and we expect to finish this work soon. With this update, Mission State Save will store all waypoint parameters that can be set in the Mission Editor or via the scripting API, resulting in AI units retaining their waypoint rules and restrictions in the saved mission.

Stay tuned for next week as we delve into the second part of our roadmap newsletter.

DCS Update
Development Progress

In this update, you will find a large array of new fixes, improvements and additions, some of which are highlighted below, or you can read the full changelog

DCS: Core
The update includes fixes from AI to the Mission Editor. Several player-reported aircraft AI behavior issues, reported after the last update, have been fixed. Regarding weapons, the AGM-12 received corrections, and airburst weapon effects were restored for the Bofors 40mm, ZSU-23-4 “Shilka,” and other small-calibre AAA. There are also corrections to scripting events, cargo operations, and the Fulcrum DTC.

DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum by Eagle Dynamics
This update expands visual variety and delivers improvements to sensors and avionics. The external model receives new historical liveries, enhanced wing bending and twisting, and refinements to the centerline tank. Radar and IRST systems have been improved with added control options, more stable Dynamic Launch Zone (DLZ) behavior during maneuvering, corrected lock and scan-zone logic, and new input bindings. Navigation and radio issues have also been resolved, improving alignment indications, glide slope accuracy, and overall mission and navigation system stability.

DCS: F-16C Viper by Eagle Dynamics
The Viper receives several important Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) and designation quality-of-life improvements. The ATP in air-to-air mode no longer stops following the radar track when you transition through a master mode where the pod is in air-to-ground, ensuring smoother sensor handoffs. DTOS bombing mode post-designate behaviour has been corrected, and DTOS now properly resets to its pre-designate state with a single TMS Aft input instead of requiring a second press.

DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer by Eagle Dynamics
A high quality first-person pilot model has been added to the DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer. This very detailed pilot model includes an improved ejection sequence and offers outstanding usuals and immersion.

DCS: AH-64D by Eagle Dynamics
This update fixes an issue with the TSD FARP icon, improving the accuracy and clarity of map symbology during planning and operations around forward arming and refuelling points.

DCS: Mi-24P Hind by Eagle Dynamics
The Hind receives a small but noticeable polish pass on voice feedback. An incorrect Petrovich line where he mistakenly reports turning off weapons has been removed, tightening up the crew interaction and reducing confusion in combat.

DCS: Marianas WWII Map by Eagle Dynamics
As featured last week, this update delivers a visual and layout overhaul of the Marianas WWII Map. Pagan Island and its airfield have been fully redesigned, with runway clearances, lengths, parking, and taxi routes updated to more accurately reflect the pre-eruption landscape. Length added to the runways of Ushi and Charon Kanoa airfields. Terrain fidelity has been improved through updated textures, corrected elevation and surface issues, and refined coastlines, rivers, cliffs, and road networks, alongside added ambient detail such as birds (especially around Bird Island) and boats. The update also revises map boundaries, adds mission generator support, expands damage states with new destroyed building models, and renames the city of Haditna to Akashi.

DCS: C-130J by Airplane Simulation Company
This update delivers broad performance, flight-control, and systems improvements alongside extensive fixes and usability enhancements. Ray tracing and overall performance have been optimized, autopilot behavior has been refined across navigation and approach modes. The low-speed handling model has also been improved. Numerous avionics, navigation, multicrew, cargo, and stability issues have been resolved, addressing crashes, incorrect indications, control logic, and visual artifacts. The update also expands controls and keybind options, enhances the EFB with new checklist, cargo, and manual features, updates visuals and UI elements, and includes general quality-of-life improvements throughout the aircraft.

DCS: JF-17 Thunder by Deka Ironwork Simulations
The Thunder’s radar behaviour against jamming targets is improved. Jamming contacts now appear correctly on the radar display even when they are beyond the current range setting, and the radar TDC can once again bug jamming targets as intended.

DCS: F-4E Phantom II by Heatblur Simulations
This update introduces core technology, systems, and usability improvements. Heatblur’s HBUI has been integrated, with collaboration from ED, into the DCS core as the new Webview-API, enabling modern, web-based in-game interfaces for all modules without a bundled CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework). Aircraft reliability has been refined with more realistic random failure behavior, higher pneudraulic actuator MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), and expanded electrical failure modelling. Jester AI receives quality-of-life updates, avionics and weapons issues have been corrected, external model visibility improved, and new Iraq Instant Action missions have been added.

DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations
This update introduces a new Jester collision steering toggle keybind, giving you more control over how he manages steering cues. New inputs have been added for the RIO ECM display mode between NAV and ECM, and several RIO keybind names such as collision steering and track hold have been clarified. As with the Phantom, new Iraq instant action missions have been added for immediate action in the new theatre.

AI-Only A-6E Intruder by Heatblur Simulations
Heatblur Simulations is proud to offer an AI-only A-6E for the DCS core. The A-6E AI offers a combination of all A-6E variants spanning the time between the 1970s through the 1990s, offering all weapons for historical loadouts such as those used by the A-6E Target Recognition and Attack Multi-Sensor (TRAM) and A-6E Systems/Weapons Improvement Program (SWIP) variants. It offers buddy-pod refueling for all drogue-system-capable aircraft in DCS, full supercarrier capability, and much more.

While the AI-only release is currently available, much of the groundwork has been laid for the upcoming full-fidelity A-6 module. Work on the flyable module started last year with a full team, and we will share more information as it develops! We hope you enjoy this free asset for all in DCS and cannot wait to see you escort it going downtown in whatever historical scenarios and missions you create for it. Watch the release video. Enjoy!

DCS: AJS37 Viggen by Heatblur Simulations
This update focuses on system stability, avionics accuracy, and procedural correctness. Autopilot engagement logic has been further refined, electrical and hydraulic behaviors “corrected under non-standard operating conditions, and engine relight logic improved during flow reversal. Navigation and landing indications now display correctly across instruments, with several warning logic issues being resolved. The update also adds new Iraq Instant Action missions and includes an updated manual.

New Ground units
In this season of giving, we are pleased to provide you with several new ground units that are designed to expand your Cold War missions. First, command the BRDM-2 reconnaissance vehicle that entered service in 1962, and it is still operated today. For an added punch, we also have the BRDM-2 with 9M14 Malyutka Anti-tank Guided Missiles! Get your troops to the front lines in wheeled BTR-60 and BTR-70 armored personnel carriers that are capable of river crossings. If you need some added firepower, the venerable T-34-85 and T-80B tanks; the T-34-85 was introduced in 1944 and the T-80B entered service in the late seventies. To help protect the skies above these units, we have added a new Strela-1 infrared-guided SAM system that is built on the amphibious BRDM-2 chassis. We have also added the P-14 ‘Tall King A’ early warning radar to support S-200 (SA-5) long-range surface-to-air missile batteries. With the exception of the P-14, all of these new units are player-drivable using DCS: Combined Arms, which is currently 50% off during the Winter Sale 2025.

We hope you enjoy these free holiday additions, and we look forward to the engaging missions you create with them. Please make sure you have installed the latest update to take full advantage of these new models.
