Patch 79 introduces a new battleground, improvements to existing battlegrounds, special PvP gear and more!
New Battleground
Target your enemies, cut through your foes and earn points for victory in the Shore Hold. Who will win the upper hand on this fast-paced 7v7 battleground?
Equalized Gear
Various battlegrounds have been updated, with the biggest change being that you’ll receive equalized gear in certain arenas. Your skills make every difference between victory and defeat!
PvP Gear
Fortunately, not every battleground will use this equalized gear. You can now take all those hard-earned PvP points and exchange them for new gear. This stuff not only looks fantastic, but the stats are tuned specially to meet your PvP needs!
Training Dungeon
Take your gear on a trial run and optimize your damage output! In the training dungeon, you can fine-tune your combat skills without having the boss breathing down your neck. All the while you’ll be able to see your DPS and the duration of combat. To provide more realistic combat situations, the room can also grant you the usual slew of Priest and Mystic buffs.
More Dungeon Updates
Parting is such sweet sorrow, but it’s time to say farewell to the Harrowhold and Dreadspire as they close their gates. Take the opportunity to run through these two dungeons again for old time’s sake. But don’t worry, you’ll have no time to get sentimental – Velik’s Sanctuary makes a return in this patch, plus you can take Dakuryon to task again in the Shadow Sanguinary!
The gods have now recognized that you no longer need their help. With your newly won powers, all classes have now awakened their Apex skills, so this patch sees the removal of the “Favor of the Goddess” which was designed to balance out these missing skills in dungeons.

It’s time to save Christmas! Some of Lakan’s evil minions have used his nefarious illusion magic and transformed themselves into fat little Santas. Now these phonies are running amok, spreading out across the lands and stealing presents from the children of all races and creeds. Find and hunt down these sham Santas before they cause any more havoc!
As if that weren’t bad enough, these scoundrels are obviously planning something big… they’ve got hordes of combat items stashed away in a few big treasure chests. In each chest you’ll find 10x [Event] Ancient Wyvern Bones which can be exchanged for superb rewards.
In which area/channel can I find the enemies? Treasure Chest: The chest will appear in a random zone and channel within the areas indicated above. It will remain in the area for up to one hour. Santas: Several small opponents are summoned simultaneously in all the indicated zones and available channels. If one of them is killed, he will reappear at a different location.
I’ve found a target. What now? It’s clobbering time! It doesn’t matter whether you’re level 11 or 65. After a short hefty bout and enough body blows, the enemies are automatically defeated.
Will there be rewards? For each treasure chest opened, you’ll receive 10 Ancient Wyvern Bones which can be exchanged for loot. Each defeated Santa earns you 1 Ancient Wyvern Bone.
Rake in the Loot The Ancient Wyvern Bones can be exchanged for the following items:

FAQ/Known Issues
Journey through the Desert – How to Enter the Event Zone
The Batu Desert is riddled with dangers, but it’s a promising location for courageous treasure hunters. You can add players to your group at any time, so it’s possible to start your quest in a 10-player group and later add new players for taking down the event bosses.
Minimum level: 65
Minimum group size: 5 players
Recommended group size: 20 or more players
Maximum group size: 30 players
Teleportal in Sietch Bidaum in Colossal Ruins
Reachable for example via the teleportal in Tulufan
The Batu Desert teleportal has 2 teleport points
The top option takes you to the start of the zone
The bottom option takes you to the middle of the zone
After your first assault on a monster, there is a 20-minute cooldown until you can enter again
There’s no daily entry limit
Mysterious Monster Camps – Pick Up the Gauntlet The whole desert is filled with harmless-looking bulls. But don’t let their appearance fool you, as they are possessed by sinister demons which will show themselves as soon as you attack a bull:
Each bull summons 4 demons when defeated
Each defeated demon increases your victory points by 1
For 100 victory points you receive 20 Charged Energy points
The monsters in the desert have also erected 6 boss camps, designed for 5 or 10-player groups. You can attack the camps with more players to deal with them more quickly, but the rewards are tuned to 5 or 10-player groups. You earn points as soon as the last opponent in a camp has been defeated.
A camp for 5 players increases your Soul Saturation points by 5.
A camp for 10 players increases your Soul Saturation points by 10.
You can find more details on the individual camps in our overview
If you defeat both the demons and the bosses in the camps, you can face off against the true Lord of the Sands. In order to summon the first event boss, you need:
100 Charged Energy points
100 Soul Saturation points
Dangers in the Dunes – Event Bosses and How to Find Them The demon plague in the desert has been caused by terrifying monsters – ones that won’t be easily beaten! Once you’ve earned 100 points on the Soul Saturation and Charged Energy bars, the event boss battle starts against the plutonian demon Kaprima from the Dreadspire (EXTREME):
All boss camps disappear
All group members are teleported to Kaprima
The time starts ticking as soon as the fight begins! You have 15 minutes to remove Kaprima from this world:
If the time runs out, Kaprima will kill everyone and disappear.
If Kaprima disappears at 0, or the battle resets because he walked too far away from the starting point, he will reappear at the original spawn point after a short time. You can challenge him again… if you dare!
If you manage to defeat Kaprima within 10 minutes (before the time jumps to 5 minutes), you’ll find a second event boss waiting to greet you: Kelsaik from the European EXTREME dungeon Kelsaik’s Storm of Frost!
Forgotten Treasures – Your Rewards A whole armada of exotic rewards is waiting to be discovered beneath the hot desert sands (and particularly in the demons’ pockets). Get an overview of the possible loot available in this preview, with more details available later in this GoogleDoc. Complete the hidden Vanguard Initiative quests and defeat Kaprima and Kelsaik and you can pick up the following loot amongst others:
Batu Effigies
Can be transformed into rewards chests using Sacrificial Altars

FAQ/Known Issues Since we are not able to fine-tune everything for our EU-specific dungeons, there are a few known display issues with this event:
The standard boss health bar will not appear for all opponents
Vanguard Initiative quests only appear once they have been completed. You must close the window after accepting them, as the quests do not disappear automatically
