Vindictus - vindi*****
Hello, this is Vindictus.

We introduce you to the 24th hero of Vindictus, Sou.

Sou is a male character that uses the Oriental Blades, which consist of the Kodachi and Odachi

The Oriental Blades are a pair of weapons Sou learned to use as a guard in the Heaven's Palace of Geongon.

Depending on the combat situation, Sou is able to use the Kodachi for quick and nimble strikes, or the Odachi for devastating attacks that cover a large area.

Combining these two with Sou's unique sword technique, Shattered Sky, demonstrates versatile combat techniques across the battlefield.

(Sou using the Oriental Blades)

  • Fluid Swordsmanship Using the Kodachi
Sou's swordplay while using the Kodachi consists of quick, consecutive attacks.

He can parry the enemy attack, and successfully defending allows him to continue his previous chain of attacks.

However, failing the parry prevents Sou from continuing this chain.

(Sou defending the enemy attack by parrying)

  • Unique Swordsmanship
Sou's signature technique, Shattered Sky, is the standby position that allows you to select between the Kodachi and Odachi to attack.

Once he is in the Shattered Sky stance, he can respond to the enemy's attack. Successfully responding allows this wanderer to unleash "Shattered Sky: Vagabond Dance"

The window of Vagabond Dance's availability is very small, so one should be aware of it during gameplay.

(Sou in his Shattered Sky stance)

  • Shattered Sky: Flickering Edge or Shattered Sky: Cloudbreak
Shattered Sky: Flickering Edge quickly draws the Kodachi while in the Shattered Sky stance, inflicting additional damage and restoring stamina upon a successful hit.

On the other hand, Shattered Sky: Cloudbreak attacks a large area with his Odachi.

If he gathers the strength to swing, it creates the Blade Storm that inflicts additional damage.

(Sou using Shattered Sky: Flickering Edge)

  • Two Swords, Two Types of Active Skills
Sou's active skills change depending on which sword he is wielding.

Using Distant Horizon with the Kodachi, he sheaths his sword and quickly draws it and slashes twice.

Using it with the Odachi, however, will perform a slower but more powerful downward strike

(Sou using Distant Horizon with the Kodachi)

Soaring Dragon slashes the enemy up with the Odachi, then strikes down with the Kodachi while spinning.

Using it while wielding the Odachi will slash once more on the ground as he soars up.

You can use the directional keys while spinning down to track the enemy.

(Sou using Soaring Dragon)

In addition, Sou's active skills are versatile. Rise of Rebellions quickly slashes the enemy with light, cloud-like steps while Road to Ruin evades an enemy's attack as he strikes.

Sou is the 24th hero of Vindictus, who will be revealed soon in the game update.

We'll always do our best to provide you with a fun and enjoyable experience.

As always, we thank you for supporting Vindictus!

- The Mabinogi Team
Mabinogi - Arciellia

Hi Milletians,

With our January 18th update, we have released changes to Mabinogi that we recognize many Milletians have strong feelings about. In particular, we would like to address the changes to Tech Duinn missions and the weekly clear reward limits that have been integrated into these missions. As with Crom Bás or Glenn Bearna dungeons which had weekly clears from the start, Tech Duinn has now been updated to introduce similar weekly clear limits. Along with this change, the mission format has been reorganized, consolidating difficulty levels from four to two (Normal/Hard), improving the ease and intuitiveness of mission puzzles, adjusting dungeon rewards, and improving dungeon drop rates.

Many of these changes represent improvements on the existing system, but the community has expressed considerable uncertainty regarding the weekly clear limits. The team has been reading and digesting the many thoughts and feedback you have. While adding a limit to content that was previously unlimited understandably may not sit well initially, the reasons behind the change have been reviewed and considered deeply by the development team, whose thoughts we will share with you below.

As Mabinogi’s publisher, we will review and scrutinize the many facets of the game’s content, while also placing our trust in the best intentions of our developers. Our goal as a connected team aligns in our desire to do what is best not only for the longevity of the game, but for the enjoyment of our community.

From myself, and on behalf of my team at Nexon America and Nexon Korea, we will continue to put our whole hearts into Mabinogi to provide a service that we can all enjoy.

Sincerely,
GM Mewlynne
Mabinogi Producer

Developer’s Comments: Behind the Change
The core purpose of dungeon-related updates is to increase the value of dungeons and rewards. Most dungeons in Mabinogi have a lower chance of rewarding the most desirable items. This is by design, to encourage repeated playthroughs. The items given as dungeon rewards are typically also tradable, so the reward probability has to be determined by taking into account repeated play. Our development team believed that this was causing repeated negative experiences in dungeons.

After reviewing the data and play patterns of our Milletians, we decided that it was necessary to make improvements so that you could grow and acquire equipment. However, there were concerns that simply increasing the probability of receiving rewards would increase the supply of materials excessively, decreasing the value of items and ultimately leading to a loss of motivation to play dungeons at all. This is also the reason why the average number of runs required to obtain a desired reward set in general Mabinogi dungeons was not able to be adjusted immediately, even though it might have felt somewhat difficult for Milletians trying their hardest to grow. Our development team has thought deeply about the best choice we could make for Mabinogi’s future, and has significantly increased the probability of rewards while limiting the number of clears so that Milletians, in their quest to grow ever stronger, can enjoy a meaningful challenge in the dungeons they are focusing on.

In preparing for this update, we considered the appropriate direction based on these contents as basic premises.
  1. Tech Duinn weekly clear limits
Tech Duinn is a dungeon with the most direct rewards that Milletians can achieve as intermediate goals in their growth process. If you look at the status of Milletians playing Tech Duinn missions, they are generally receiving “Elite” passes on Feth Fiada Hard difficulty. In the case of Crom Bás, it is possible to enter without obtaining an entry pass to farm the Nightbringer weapon set, so the fact that you needed to separately obtain an Elite pass to acquire the materials for the Perseus weapon set felt like an unnatural part of the growth process. We eventually determined that to be one of the hassles, and thought of the way where you could play them without acquiring passes.

However, as acquiring passes is no longer required and the drop rates for the rewards have been increased, we have concluded that the amount of acquired items could increase too excessively, without the limitation to the entry. As maintaining items’ value is also an important part of the game, we concluded that the entry limit is necessary.

When looking at the play patterns of North American Milletians playing Tech Duinn missions, the dev team found that most Milletians who were playing the Elite missions were clearing them fewer than 10 times per week, and around 80% of Milletians were clearing them fewer than 5 times a week. When considering the now-increased probabilities of receiving many of the rewards, we felt that clearing the mission about 15 times was a reasonable level, providing a better experience in clearing without significantly affecting the value of the rewards obtained.

We have also prepared the methods for Milletians who want to clear missions more by making it possible to clear more than 15 times a week (25 times or more in total) using additional entry passes received through events and Adventurer’s Seal Shop. We are also open to the possibility of gradually easing restrictions when the demand/supply of rewards has stabilized in the future.

We are also listening carefully to your concerns about situations that impede free play. We will continue to think about which values are most important from a long-term perspective and find solutions that offer enjoyable experiences.
  2. Intention of introducing the Dungeon Re:fine system

A lot of Milletians have been asking about the details of the Re:fine System and the intention behind it.

Re:fine system is the system where the probability of a certain reward’s appearance remains the same regardless of the party member’s number. In practice, it works as below.

For certain items, the number and the probability of these items appearing in one dungeon run will remain the same regardless of whether it was cleared by one person or multiple people. Once the item’s appearance is decided, who will get the item among the party will be decided by an even probability.

In other words, if the probability of an item is 1%, and an individual clears the dungeon, the item will appear by 1% for them. If the dungeon is cleared by a party of 4, whether the item will appear or not will be decided by 1%, and the item will be given to the 1 of the 4 members by even probability.

The initial purpose of the Re:fine system was to bridge the compensation gap, accounting for multi-client usage. Although this will now be addressed to some extent by blocking the use of multiple clients, we still have to take into account abnormal styles of play. In particular, the higher the expected reward of a dungeon, the more advantageous it is to clear it using multiple computers. We intended to prevent this type of play pattern from being encouraged. With the update, we applied the Re:fine system to certain dungeons while increasing the drop rates of major rewards, to prevent the situation of using multiple clients or computers being advantageous while increasing the level of rewards for playing dungeons.
The purpose of the development explained above is focused on changes for the long-term growth of Mabinogi. However, we believe that the freedom and variety of play styles that can be experienced in Mabinogi are also important values. We will strive to develop Mabinogi through a process of gathering opinions while doing our best to provide a sufficient explanation of our intentions to all Milletians.

Thank you,
[/u]Mabinogi Development Team

The First Chronicle Update:
The following changes have been made to the game:
  • The following books have been updated with a revised version to be more canonically accurate.
    • The Goddess Who Turned to Stone
    • The Knight of Light Lugh, The Hero of Mag Tuireadh
  • In the Bag Order Settings menu, 'PLUS Inventory' has been renamed to 'VIP Inventory', to match the tab name.
  • Renamed "Glass Trim Monocle and Earrings" to "Glass Trim Veiling Band and Earrings" to have the name better match the face accessory's visuals.
  • Renamed "New Start (Ship BGM)" to "New Start (Tutorial BGM)". Visions of a blue-haired girl and a black-wooled sheep cross your mind.
  • Chain Slash Grandmaster has been renamed to Grandmaster Chain Slasher, to fit with the other GM Talents.
    • We'll always remember you, Chain Slash Grandma.
  • The text when attempting to wear an invalid face accessory and headgear together has been improved to be much more clear and a bit less judgmental.
    • It was "Probably not a good idea to dress like this.", if you were curious.
  • When sending a message to an offline friend, it no longer will tell you that your friend is too busy to chat. They might still be busy, but that's not the reason why your message wasn’t received.
  • You can now earn Field Raid Contribution when using the following Harmonic Saint actions:
    • Recover an ally with Hand of Restoration or Echoes of Salvation
    • Resurrect an ally with Hymn of Resurrection
  • When using Shadow Flare and Polar Vortex, 2x casting speed of wands will be applied to the Celtic Tribolt Wand and single-attribute wands.
The following bug fixes have been made to the game:
  • Continued Text Polish on generations and items!
    • Why the catch-all item instead of listing them all out individually, you hypothetically inquire? These are usually small things, such as adding missing periods/spaces and other similar typos. We try to include the more impactful fixes and changes individually. Thank you as always for your reports!
  • The Abominable Rabbit from Glenn Bearna was being too abominable. Previously after using Roar, the unpleasant bunny would stackingly increase its allies Defense and Protection. As this was not intended to stack, we've asked the loathsome lagomorph to take it down a notch.
  • In specific situations, Dauntless Defense’s cooldown would be applied incorrectly. This has been corrected.
  • The damage is now applied correctly when using Thunderblight at rank 5 or higher against a target whose Magical Defense and Magical Protection have been reduced below zero.
  • The bag sizes for the following Doll Bags were incorrectly listed. The text has been updated to match the actual values.
    • Bhatair Doll Bag
    • Morfydrianas Doll Bag
    • Tani Doll Bag
  • The item descriptions for the following Doll Bags displayed the incorrect Collection Categories. Only the text was incorrect, the functionality for these items have not changed.
    • Talek Doll Bag: Gold, Rare Mineralogy -> Gold, Ore, Gems
    • Marleid and Piran Doll Bag: Gold, Rare Mineralogy, Weaving/Sheep Shearing, Tailoring Materials -> Gold, Ore, Gems, Weaving/Sheep Shearing, Tailoring Materials
  • Fixed an issue where Doll Bags did not collect Equipment if set to the Cooking and Equipment Collection Categories.
  • The Shadow Reaper Mask was so stealthy that Milletians couldn't even see its textures. A series of off-screen montages has given all Milletians the power to properly see the mask.
  • Improved the text when cooking the best food Erinn has seen. Continue your hunt for the essence of true flavor, Master Chefs!
  • When undertaking the Shuriken Charge Advancement test, the supervisor no longer refers to it as the Kunai Storm test.
  • Corrected a minor visual error with the Vanguard Uniform Bandage (M).
  • Corrected a minor visual error with the Cheerful Bride's Gloves.
  • After waiting many long years to return, the Girl on the Moon was super excited to see all you ‘Mabinogians’ again for ‘second anniversary’! She's going to catch some well deserved rest.
The following bugs were fixed during the course of December:
  • The Check Weekly Rewards Received for Glenn Bearna no longer inaccurately lists the weekly limit as 4x per week. The text now displays the correct 3x per week.
  • Undye your hair and mourn no longer- Atrata now properly grants selected PTJ rewards, rather than just giving it out all as experience points.
  • Chefs rejoice! You can now search for Cooking Potions on the Auction House!
  • The Echostones from the Erinn-go-Round Echostone Boxes were interacting unintentionally when an Echostone Supplement was applied. We have fixed the issue causing Echostone Grades to reset- you can no longer use the Echostone Supplement item on an Echostone that has not been advanced at least one Grade.
  • The notification of your Auction House listings being sold are now correctly showing once more. Yayifications!
  • The Detective Squirrel Doll Bag description stated that it had a set effect when summoned with another doll bag. As this isn't the case, this line has been removed.
The following are known bugs:
  • 🐛
  • When using the new item Defender's Will, the stats displayed in the message incorrectly displays the stats from Aggressor's Will. This is a text issue only, the correct defensive stats are given.
  • The new crafting recipes for Protective Red Upgrade Stone and Protective Blue Upgrade Stone incorrectly refer to 'Gem of Protection' as 'Gem of Protective Power'. The former is the correct name for the item, and is the item used in the craft.
  • In rare circumstances when rapidly casting Arrow Revolver, players will become unable to move or attack until receiving an attack or relogging.
  • Several items containing ampersands in their name and description aren't showing the & symbol.
  • Shop items with expiration times start counting down upon the player logging in or changing channels, rather than having their countdown start when the item is purchased.
  • There is an issue where one-time/limited items cannot be purchased from the in-game shop, but can be on the web-shop.
  • There is an issue with the in-game Guild list not populating with guilds.
Vindictus - vindi*****
Hello. I am Allanon, the Director of Vindictus.

Although we've already greeted you for New Year, we're here to say hello again. Happy New Year!

We hope that all players spending their 2024 in Vindictus will have a happy year and stay healthy.

The rest of the development team and I will continue to listen to your feedback to ensure that Vindictus continues to be the game that you love.

When I look back on the last four months, I'm left with a lot of disappointment. I expected to get a lot more done, and there were a lot of things that went slower than I thought they would.

Part of me blames the lack of time, part of me blames the fact that we needed to do a lot of groundwork to change direction.

But in this short time, I've felt and experienced many things, large and small, that have influenced our plans for the future.

We're looking forward to staying busy in 2024 so that we can make Vindictus even more satisfying for players than it already is.

To that end, I'll continue to address pressing issues, improve convenience, and engage with you.

I think the most important and urgent issue is to improve our structure through max level expansion.

Recently, we've seen from several communities that they're concerned about the direction of item growth.

We're looking back at our previous DevTalks to see if our brief explanations caused more confusion than excitement.

To reduce any confusion you may be experiencing, we're preparing a quick update on our progress.

The direction of the restructuring has been agreed upon internally, with only some minor disagreements on the methodology, which are currently being resolved internally.

We'd like to finalize our discussions as soon as possible so that players can continue to play without disruption, and we'll share our development direction for the restructuring in a DevTalk in February.

As for the character balance planned in February or March, we've finalized one more round of damage adjustments.

The variance between the top and bottom characters in Hero+ and the second Space Time Distortion, Eisen Ritter, was much larger than expected. So, we decided that an adjustment was in order.

We apologize for the delay in these much-anticipated utility improvements.

We recognize that character customization is a very important part of the game, not just combat.

Starting with the outfits this February, we'll be gradually incorporating concepts and designs you've suggested in past surveys.

We'll continue to be open to feedback on outfit design through multiple channels.

In addition to outfits, many of you have asked us to release new hairstyles.

With all the focus on characters, monsters, and outfits, new hair has been pushed to the back of our priority list.

We know that hair is a very important part of your character's look, but the structural difficulty of creating hair is one of the reasons it's been pushed to the back burner.

However, I'm one of the many players who also wants new hair, so we're going to make sure that we don't put it off much longer.

We're looking at a number of things to improve convenience, but here's a quick rundown of what's coming in the first half of the year.

We're working on events that will reset character names for dormant users and allow you to trade character names, and we are working on a naming system that will allow you to set a representative name for your account, that you call a House name.

We'll also be improving the Ein Lacher system that we talked about in the last DevTalk, and we're thinking about ways to simplify the leveling process.

Among them, we were looking at several directions to simplify the leveling process, including adding a feature that allows you to completely skip dialog. But, due to the current story structure, that is very difficult to implement so we would have to approach it in a different way.

We're also looking to improve other game aspects, which we're not sure if we'll be able to do this year, but we're going to try to make a system where you can feel more connected to your character.

There's a lot of thought that goes into making this all part of a satisfying gaming experience, but we'll move as quickly as we can once we have a direction.

We're also constantly thinking about ways to diversify our communication channels.

We'll be looking for ways to communicate with you, more than simply bringing you news like this.

We'll make sure we're communicating in the right way, at the right time, so that we don't interrupt your gameplay by popping up too often.

That's all we have prepped for the today.

We sincerely thank you for the consistent love and support you have for Vindictus.

See you again in February!

Thank you!
