MapleStory - Ghiblee
Hi Maplers,

We would like to provide you with an update regarding the removal of 2x Drop Special Coupons from the Cash Shop recently announced on the Sale of Low-Popularity Items Ending in v.231 post. When we reviewed the purchase data for these items while considering their removal, we saw that they cumulatively made up about 0.28% of the total item sales. We came to the conclusion that the items, including the 2x Drop Special Coupons, are not heavily used by players considering this small purchase number, and determined that their removal would not significantly impact your gameplay experience.
However, after the announcement that the sale of these low-popularity items will be discontinued, we saw a lot of feedback from you that the 2x Drop Special Coupons are frequently used by players, and they are not low-popularity items like the others in the list. The reactions we saw were contrasting to the data we had reviewed, so we investigated once more to see if there may have been any points of misunderstanding of the purchase data. After investigation, we found that there was an error in our data where the purchase of 2x Drop Special Coupons using Maple Points were not taken into account. The purchase data for the 2x Drop Special Coupons alone, when including purchases made with Maple Points, actually accounted for 2.11% of total item purchases, which is more significant than we had thought.

Unlike the other items in the list to be removed, 2x Drop Special Coupons had an additional factor that contributed to the decision for its discontinuation. The removal of 2x Drop Special Coupons were based on two factors - our incorrect understanding of their usage trends, and their impact on game balance. These coupons have a multiplicative stacking function, and this allows the drop increase bonus to be much higher than what would be healthy for the game. We incorrectly assessed that the removal of the coupons would not have a notable impact on players and gameplay, and we determined that a detailed message on the full context of the removal may not be warranted with what we thought was an indication of low usage trends for these coupons. We clearly made the wrong decision to present the information this way, without providing you with the full reasoning behind the discontinuation. We deeply apologize for this miscommunication.

We now know that the 2x Drop Special Coupons are used more frequently by players than we had initially assessed, and we reviewed the removal of the coupons with the accurate data once more. Even when reviewing the situation with the accurate data, the impact these coupons have on the game balance still remains a concern. Due to this overarching concern, we believe it will be best for the long-term health of the game to proceed with the discontinuation of these coupon sales during our v.231 update maintenance. We apologize once again for the miscommunication we delivered regarding the removal of 2x Drop Special Coupon sales.

Thank you,
- The MapleStory Team

Hi Maplers,

We are aware of your feedback concerning how the 2x Drop Special Coupons cannot be a low-popularity item as listed in our Sale of Low-Popularity Items Ending with v.231 Update post. We are sorry for the delay in communication, but we will be sharing an update with you within next week.

Thank you for your patience,
- The MapleStory Team

Hello Milletians,

As a result of the rollout of Two-Factor Authentication and the Trusted Devices system, we are excited to share with you that during the March 17, 2022 update, the Secondary Password system will be removed from Mabinogi. Two-Factor Authentication provides better security for our Milletians and we believe that is will be a welcomed change.

The Two-Factor Authentication methods and Trusted Devices can be found in the "Password & Security" tab in the Account Settings page. We encourage all Milletians to set up one of the followings methods as soon as possible.

  • Authenticator App: This option allows you to generate a secure, single-use passcode through your smartphone, using the free Google Authenticator app. This code will be required whenever you sign into your Nexon account while on a non-trusted computer, and changes frequently to prevent the code from being reusable or guessable.
  • SMS: The SMS (Short Message Service, better known as Text Messaging) option will allow you to register your phone number with your Nexon account, where you will be texted a single-use passcode to be used alongside your password in order to log into your Nexon account while on a non-trusted computer.
  • Email Verification: Upon logging into the Nexon Launcher on a non-trusted computer, you will be sent an email with a secure, single-use passcode required to verify your account. This is required of all Nexon accounts, in order to limit the likelihood of an unauthorized user gaining control over your account.
  • Trusted Devices: Once you have completed email verification, you will be given the option to trust the device you are logging on with, allowing you to bypass both Email Verification and any other Two-Factor Authentication protections on that device for an even smoother login process. You can remove trusted devices via the Account Settings page at any time.
Again, we strongly encourage everyone to set up Two-Factor Authentication on your Nexon Accounts, either with an Authenticator App or through SMS (Text) Messaging. Doing so will help keep your account as safe and secure as can be. Please note that you can disable either factor whenever you wish, and while we encourage you to add an additional layer of security to your account in one of the manners described above, this is by no means a requirement to play Mabinogi.

Thank you,

-The Mabinogi Team

[Updated March 8 at 5:00 PM PT] As mentioned in this post, we are asking our Maplers to fill out this brief survey about your experience with the performance of specific NA Reboot world channels after March 3 maintenance. Please fill out this survey by Thursday, March 10th at 7:00 PM PT. Thank you!
-----

Greetings Maplers,

Here’s a little update on what we observed after the February 17 NA Reboot world maintenance.

February 17 Maintenance
After reviewing the survey results and internal logs, we saw channel 1 have the most improvement. Channels 26 - 29 had some improvement, but we did see survey comments that said players still experienced lag during Ursus and around reset in those channels. From what we’ve seen, channel 30 wasn’t improved since we were testing how the image of a slow channel would perform on the new hardware spec. Last year, we did try to use dedicated hosts from our service provider to mitigate some lag but these dedicated hosts were slower than the changes we made this year, so we will be switching out the channels on these dedicated hosts.

March 3 Maintenance
During the March 3 maintenance, we updated the remaining channels to the new hardware spec. Channels 2, 5, 8, 20, 22, 23, and 24 have been updated to the new hardware spec. We left channels 21 and 30 as-is to do some tests on these channels. Channels 4, 26, 27, 28, and 29 are switched off of the dedicated hosts. Channels 26, 27, and 28 now have increased CPU and memory to see if that’ll help the channel performance during Ursus Golden Time.

Our service provider hasn’t been able to give us information on why some of these channels act differently or why dedicated hosts seem to perform worse than the other servers, so we are continuing to try different options to try and resolve the lag issue.

As usual, we will post another survey to gather information after this weekend, when the channels have had some time to be played on for a few days. The survey link will be provided here in this post as well as posted in our community platforms. We’d appreciate your active participation and feedback on these surveys.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Sincerely,
The BatMjollnir
