Batman™: Arkham Knight - wb.elder.pliny
Hi Everyone,

We apologize for the issues some of our customers are encountering, and we’re working on them now. In the meantime, we wanted to respond and offer some assistance where we can and clarify some of yesterday’s messaging.

DLC Availability for Season Pass Owners
- We were made aware of an issue with users who purchased the Premium Edition, and were not receiving their DLC content. We fixed this on the Steam backend with Valve, and all Season Pass holders should now have their DLC. We’re continuing to work with Valve to ensure the content appears correctly for Season Pass holders when viewing it in the Steam Store.

Windows 10 RAM
- Many people have taken note of our system RAM recommendation for Windows 10. We have run detailed performance tests on a variety of systems, and in doing so have found that memory usage and management on Windows 10 simply behaves very differently from Windows 7 and Windows 8, most notably with page file compression. Hence, our recommendation for Windows 10 users if this issue is encountered. On a related note, we recommend that the Windows page file remains enabled on all operating systems.

Change Log / More Patch Notes
- We’ve heard your requests for more patch notes regarding what bugs have been fixed since the last patch was released. We’re working on it and will post these on Friday, October 30th.
- The PC version has also received a host of bug fixes that have been merged over from the consoles. We’ll get you those details early next week.
- For those of you who are new and missed our September patch release, here’s a quick refresher on what we’ve already fixed:
- Reduced frame rate hitches
- Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage
- Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
- More Comprehensive In-Game Settings
- Fixed low resolution texture bugs
- Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)

Flickering Bug on Laptops when Running in Full Screen
- We’re aware that some users are unable to launch the game properly in full screen on some laptop configurations. This is a specific problem to a hybrid graphics system introduced on Windows 8.1. We’re actively working with Microsoft support to resolve it, but there is a workaround available by switching the game to run in Borderless Windowed Mode:
1. Navigate to and open your local GSA file. It can typically be found here: "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham Knight\GFXSettings.BatmanArkhamKnight.xml"
2. Find this entry:
<OPTION Name="Display_Mode" Registered="True" Type="Integer" Value="1">
Display_Mode
0 - Windowed (with border)
1 - Windowed (no border)
2 - Full Screen
3. Set the value to 1, then relaunch the game.

Crash on Launch / Performance Degradation After September Interim Patch
- Some users have reported a consistent crash on launch or performance degradations since the interim patch that was released in September. This could be due to configuration files that were modified by 3rd party tweak tools or are marked as Read Only, and were not correctly patched. Please note that we cannot guarantee compatibility between patches when using 3rd party tools that modify the game files. In addition, users should ensure they have no files marked as Read Only when downloading the patch. If there are still issues, try deleting the Config folder from within …SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\BMGame and allowing Steam to re-download it, followed by verifying the game cache.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling is not enough in this instance as these configuration files will remain in the Steam directory after the process completes. These files must be manually deleted.
- If stability issues are still encountered, this article on our support website also contains some helpful troubleshooting tips: http://support.wbgames.com/link/portal/24022/24028/Article/1065/Batman-Arkham-Knight-is-crashing-on-my-PC

DLC Achievements
- We’re aware of an issue where some players are not receiving the DLC achievements. We’re investigating and will report back when this is resolved. Apologies for this error.

Language Support for DLC
- Finally, an issue occurred during the release window where the correct languages were not set for some of the DLC. This has been resolved.

Hi everyone! I’m going to jump in and help out Yorick as a second pair of eyes and ears for you all.

With the game now available for sale, I wanted to provide a status update since the release of the September patch.

As we confirmed earlier today, the PC version of the game now supports all add-on content that has been released thus far for console. The configurations for this content are being updated now and we expect everything to be available in the next few hours. We’ll confirm when this process is completed.

We are still working with our GPU partners to add full support for SLI and Crossfire. In addition, we are working with these partners to address stability issues on certain cards related to the latest drivers.

After extensive testing, a hard drive paging issue with some GPUs on Windows 7 may occur after extended gameplay sessions. If you encounter this, simply re-launching the game will resolve the issue.

For Windows 10 users, we’ve found that having at least 12GB of system RAM on a PC allows the game to operate without paging and provides a smoother gameplay experience.

UPDATE: We became aware of an issue with the Season Pass DLC content where it was not being downloaded automatically. We've recently resolved this issue with help from Valve, and everyone should be receiving their Season Pass content now.

Greetings Batman: Arkham Fans!

The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight is back up and available today!   We are genuinely thankful to the Batman: Arkham fans, the Steam Batman: Arkham Community, and the PC Players who have patiently waited for this day. As a show of our appreciation to our fans in this process, we are pleased to announce three community focused programs to help us commemorate the re-launch of the game.

To kick things off, we will be giving away FREE digital copies of games from the Batman: Arkham library. This means we will be giving away copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY, Batman: Arkham City GOTY, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate.  The Batman: Arkham library of games will be given to everyone who has already purchased or will purchase Batman: Arkham Knight for PC prior to 11:59 pm PDT, November 16, 2015. We’re actively working with our partners at Valve to make this happen as soon as we can, so watch your Steam Library.  We are aiming to deliver all of the games by December.

Seeing as our community was a great help in getting the game up and running, Rocksteady will be creating a new "Community Challenge Pack” that will be given free to owners of the Batman: Arkham Knight game in January 2016.  As thanks to the Steam Community, PC players will have access to the maps for a week before they hit the consoles.  Stay tuned for more details on this in the Batman: Arkham Community and Social Channels.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce that we are working with Valve and the Team Fortress 2 team for a special cross-game promotion.  Through November 16, 2015, Valve will be running a contest for the Steam community to create Batman: Arkham themed cosmetic items for Team Fortress 2.  The winning items will be given out to those who purchased Batman: Arkham Knight on Steam before the end of the contest.  You can check out the official TF2 blog for all the contest details!

To recap, if you own Batman: Arkham Knight for PC or purchase it before November 16, 2015, you will get:
  • Free digital copies of games from the Batman: Arkham library.
  • The "Community Challenge Pack” DLC.
  • The Batman: Arkham inspired Team Fortress 2 items created by the Batman: Arkham community.

Thanks again for your feedback and support.

As many of you know, we released a major patch for Batman: Arkham Knight PC a few weeks ago. While there were significant performance improvements made to the game, the teams are continuing to work on the additional updates that were outlined in our previous post. We expect these updates to be ready at the end of October, at which time the PC version will be made available for purchase. In addition, support for all DLC that has been released for the console versions will be in place.

Thanks again for your continued patience and support. We’ll be sure to update everyone as soon as the update is live.
