MotMG is almost here! We are very excited for the biggest update in the history of RotMG and we hope you are too! We want YOU to be a part of it, so gather screws, nails and planks! Equip your helmets and get your tools! Be a part of RECONSTRUCTION!

As already announced, we have a new Campaign prepared for you for this year's Month of the Mad God. We would like to shed some light on the details. Let’s see what's coming ahead.

We want to start by saying that the new Campaign will be Free2Play, so all of you can bask in the MotMG madness that's about to unravel! The Campaign will roll out together with the release of MotMG: Reconstruction.


Start: September 23rd, 2020
End: October 26th, 2020 at 12:00 PM UTC
Grace Period: 2 days (till October 28th, 2020 at 11:00 AM UTC)
Quests at the Tinkerer: till October 28th, 2020 at 11:00 AM UTC


As always, you must first unlock the Campaign in order to start progressing in it. You will then have to do your part in the Reconstruction by collecting all the mats needed for the work - Nail, Screw and Plank tokens.

Important: Purchases made in the shop or Nexus DO NOT COUNT towards your progress in the campaign! Only tokens and direct donations count towards it!


Starting Wednesday after release, the tokens we’ve already mentioned above will start dropping for you in various dungeons and in the Realm. Each token is worth a certain amount of points when consumed:

• Nails are worth 5 points each and would stack up to 20;
  
• Screws are worth 10 points each and would stack up to 15;
  
• Planks are worth 15 points each and would stack up to 50.

What's more, we want to help you get under way faster, so the first Free pack that we have in store for you during MotMG, will grant you 6 Nails, 5 Screws and 3 Planks, for a total of 125 points!


Check the following list in order to maximise your contribution to the Reconstruction, and maximise your rewards.


Those same tokens have an additional purpose! You may want to visit The Tinkerer and check what he has to offer in exchange for the right tokens.


The Construction Weapon Box can be exchanged for one of Nail Gun Bow, Hammer Sword, Measuring Wand, Sawblade Katana, Screwdriver Staff or Spatula Dagger.

The Construction Armor Box will grant you a choice between Magic Construction Vest, Fitted Construction Vest or Heavy Construction Vest.

The Construction Skin Agreement will allow you to get your hands on one of the Reconstruction-themed skins for each class.

When it comes to Reconstruction, safety is always first! Therefore, each worker will have their own hard hat, with these separated into three tiers. You will start with the Laborer's Hard Hat, working your way to the Operator's Hard Hat that the Tinkerer offers. The ultimate Campaign reward will be the Foreman's Hard Hat, reflecting your journey from a Beginner to a Pro Construction Worker.

Each Hard Hat can be worn with a Construction Weapon and a Construction Vest. The higher
the hat's tier, the more powerful bonus you'll get from your Construction gear!

It’s only in this campaign that you will get the chance to get the Beefcake Construction Knight Skin!

Hello Realmers!

Last week we caught a glimpse of what you can expect from this year’s MotMG: Reconstruction. So let’s do a recap and give you more details on some of the upcoming content!


This year, we will have two major MotMG updates.

• Exaltation

This brand new system of permanent progression will help you make the most of every endgame dungeon run! Many of you are probably already familiar with this from our public testing session, though there have been some changes since then based on the feedback we received.

We’re excited to release this and give even the most accomplished players more goals to seek! Perhaps the Keyper will lend you a hand in this perilous journey while showing off some changes of his own?

• Dungeon Reconstructions

The time has come! We all know Realm of the Mad God goes way back (closing in on 10 years!), so a little bit of reconstruction was needed to freshen things up a bit, hence the 2020 theme.

Some of the known encounters faces in the Realm may also change in the upcoming days. So take a good look at them now and try to spot the difference when the time comes.

• The Appetizer

This sloppy chef stole almost all the pet food in the realm and is trying to pick a quarrel with you, Realmers... We hope you’re ready for a food fight!

• Vital Combat

There is no need for an introduction on this one. A lot of you already saw this feature in action and left your thoughts and feedback. Soon you will all experience the most updated version - September 23rd!

• F in chat for Flash

We have plenty of memories with the Flash client (spaghetti code). With the release of MotMG, we will also say goodbye to our old friend - on the website, Steam, and Kongregate. We hope you already transitioned to the Unity client and, of course, enjoy it!

• Fame Rework

As promised in a previous producer’s letter, a major rework to fame bonuses and XP gain is coming! We are massively expanding the kinds of achievements you get rewarded through in normal gameplay, as well as ensuring XP gain properly matches the challenge level of the content you’re facing. You can even see a small peek at these new bonuses and statistics in the latest trailer!

While all these new bonuses and calculations will make fame more naturally rewarding overall, we also know that some people still have living characters created specifically to maximize the current set of restrictive bonuses. Since death fame will be handled in a totally different way after this rework, we wanted to give a heads up that these players may want to kill off their characters before the release. We will give an exact date soon, but be prepared! From now on, fame bonuses will reward action over inaction.

• New Vault/UI

Make some space for the new Vault, bringing you new ways to store your potions and straighten your stash! The classic vault will also get a new modern look! We hope you'll like it once you get to play with it. We wanted to make it super shiny and convenient.

• New Dungeon: High Tech Terror

A brand new boss dungeon is on its way! Manipulate the iconic transformation vats of the Mad Lab to your advantage when facing off against the F.E.R.A.L., Oryx’s latest court member. This devious and fast paced fight is sure to keep you on your toes.

After more than a month of craziness, MotMG Reconstruction will come to an end on October 28th to make way for other exciting features and improvements!

End of the War STory IV Bonus Program

Now that this one has ended, both the new Treasure Hunter Archer and Vampire Rogue ST sets will start dropping in-game with the next release. Happy hunting!

Some of you actually got the hint when we announced that submitting art to the Dungeon Specification Contest will get you kinda, sorta, maybe definitely disqualified. The reason why we came up with that rule: This dungeon art contest!

We all know how Realm was born, having art first and then developed into the full bullet-hell experience we all know and love. Even though the art part was not first in this case, we still wanted to do something similar. And so, the dungeon creation saga began.

As we already announced some time ago, here are the winners of Part I of this awesome contest so many of you already took part in. Now it’s time to make sprites for the winning dungeons!


I. You have more than 2 weeks to submit your dungeon art sprites. SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 09/20 at 12 AM UTC // 17 PM PST (the previous day). All entries submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed!

II. One submission per person/team >>>SUBMIT HERE<<<, containing your dungeon's sprite sheet.

III. Art details:

• All art for the dungeon must be in one sprite sheet, no matter if it's boss, mobs, environment, projectiles, portal, key etc.
  
• Art must be done for one of the dungeon specifications that won the previous round (The Necropolis,The Chophouse, The Workshop, Salty Shoals or the Cretaceous Canyon), so make sure to read a bit on the dungeon you want to create some art for before submitting your sprites.
  
• You can do as much art as you can, but doing more will give you more points.
  
• Do not plagiarize/no copyrighted content!
  
• A maximum of 3 people can work on the dungeon's sprites. Only one of those people should submit the sprite and list the other 1 or 2 people that worked on it as well.
  
• You're allowed to use a dungeon’s sprites that you had already worked on in the past, as long as it's never been used anywhere else and are linked to the dungeon’s theme/s.

What it means is that you can't copy/recreate a sprite that had been posted by someone else on this or any other subreddit. If you have a sprite that you had already posted on the subreddit, you're allowed to use it for the contest as long as you are the creator and it did not win in any other similar contest (hosted by Deca or the RotMG official Discord).

• Submitting multiple entries will disqualify you.
  
• Deca reserves the right to disqualify a submission if it doesn't fit the criteria above or contains inappropriate content.

IV. Rewards

• Rank 1: 15 dungeon keys of choice (can be different but only for already existing dungeons), 5000 gold and Mystery ST Chest x5!
  
• Rank 2: 10 dungeon keys of choice (can be different but only for already existing dungeons, 3000 gold and Mystery ST Chest x4!

We have a few fixes, some events and an ST Bonus Program for you today.

• Ancient Ruins now has a player limit of 65.
  
• Fixed some DC issues.
  
• Fixed the Angelic Bard 16x16 skin size.
  
• Fixed the Angelic Bard tooltip (ATT and DEF stats were swapped).
  
• HP of bosses with more than 100,000 HP and 1 million HP are now displayed with “k“ and “M”. Example: 100,000 HP = 100k; 1,000,000 HP - 1M.
  
• The Sea Slurp Pet Skin and some other pets that were dropping in orange bags now drop from gold ones.
  
• Users will not get into a soft lock when trying to change the name while having less gold.
  
• The Wine Cellar will now use only 1 Wine Cellar Incantation to be unlocked. Other Incs will not be consumed.
  
• Deathless Crossbow changes: 155-250 -> 160-200 damage
  
• New bonus of the Phantom Archer ST set on equip: +6 ATT
  
• The drop rates of the Phantom Archer and Skuld Rogue ST sets have been significantly raised.
  
• Increased the drop rates of runes. Redistributed the runes that Encounters drop in the following way:
  
  1. Shield Rune - Cube God, Pentaract, Skull Shrine, Grand Sphinx, Hermit God, Jade and Garnet Statues, Lord of the Lost Lands, Rock Dragon, Ghost Ship

Many thanks for participating in the public testing session this weekend! Trying out the new features and balance changes and communicating your feedback to us is very valuable to the team. We have been reading the ongoing discussions (yes, all of them) on different platforms. In addition to that, in order to give the PT feedback some organization, we ask you to fill this form and provide us with a summary of your PT experience. Your voice is being heard, so please be civil and try to give us your objective and unbiased opinion in the best structure possible!


As we mentioned in the last Discord Q&A session, we never have and never will tolerate cheating. With the upgrade of Realm of the Mad God to Realm Exalt, our ways of tracking cheaters also advanced.

That being said, we want to give you a little more detail on what’s happened in the past few weeks. We now have ways to track which accounts have been using a hacked client to play the newly released Oryx 3 on Flash instead of on Realm Exalt. After an in-depth investigation, we found more than 2000 who took advantage of an external party/hacked client to get access to the Mad God 3.

Each of those accounts was banned, and approximately 150 of those bans were permanent. The difference in our actions depends on a thorough investigation for each of the accounts individually! The results were based, as they have always been, on an account’s history (if you have been banned and for what in the past). That also determines the duration of the ban. Since the amount of accounts is pretty big, it took some time to review each of the said accounts and take the appropriate action.

On the subject of permanent bans, we want to again emphasize that our tracking for cheat detection on Exalt is superior to that of Flash. While we want to continue taking a very firm stance on cheating, we would also like to stress that non-permanent bans do not mean the cheaters are essentially scott-free. Should these accounts have a second violation (which will be noticed very quickly now), more extreme action will be taken since they have already received their warning.

Cheating is a violation of our ToS and we won’t tolerate it. Breaking those terms will get you banned!
