Of the many, many splendid films we've seen made with Valve's new Source Filmmaker tools, this one is my favorite yet. YouTuber burningfajitasalt (nice!) has put together this video to accompany Ken Ashcorp's lovely song "Just One More Hat," a musical tribute to the many hats of Team Fortress 2.

In the video, the scout raises his hands to the heavens and does his best Ariel impression. And what do you know… it's surprisingly affecting! Especially the end. Excellent stuff.

Next, I hope someone recreates the actual Little Mermaid entirely using Source. It wouldn't surprise me if there was someone out there working on it right now...

We've already reached the point at which Valve's Source Filmmaker is generating too many awesome movies to watch, let alone share.

But let's live in the bubble a little bit longer so that we can experience the awesomeness of this re-creation of Michael Bay's finest moment: The "S*** Just Got Real" scene from Bad Boys II.

Okay, now let's watch the original scene in all its cheesy glory. Fun fact: When they were shooting Bad Boys II, they had to close down one of the most-used causeways in Miami. I was living in the city at the time, and it was this monster inconvenience for anyone who had to get to Miami Beach. I remember when the first ads for the movie finally aired in the theater, everyone in the theater booed afterwards. ha!

Source Filmmaker - Valve
Source Filmmaker version 0.9.5.3 has been released. This update will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:
  • now only exposing movie render resolutions that are available
  • fixed poster rendering black when ambient occlusion and progressive refinement were both off
  • fixed crash browsing files from the poster export dialog
  • fixed problem where having an old installation of Qt would case the SFM to fail to load
  • added Report a Bug help menu item that leads to sfmbugs@valvesoftware.com
  • fixed missing timeline gap context menu
  • fixed recording gameplay into new clip to update the timeline with the new clip
  • fixed a few crashes
  • added missing particle systems
Team Fortress 2

The fun people are having with Valve's new Source Filmmaker continues. Not long after the secret of the Pyro's identity is revealed do we now get some rap, some Batman and a plea to please, please stop with the remixes of Meet the Heavy.

Did Valve realise that the release of this suite would unleash a flood of kids graduating from making great Garry's Mod movies to making better movies? You bet they did.

We all enjoyed Meet the Pyro. It was worth the wait. Except fans still had one question. Who is the man behind the mask?!

Well, wonder no more. Thanks to Valve's new Source Filmmaker, we now know exactly who (or what) is beneath the Pyro's mask.

But be warned, what you are about to see may disturb you.
