Originally from Wrocław, Ela’s family history has deep roots within the city. Her grandfather was a Cichociemny, an elite paratrooper of the exiled Polish Army during WWII. After being captured during the Warsaw Uprising, he managed to escape and reach Wrocław, only to endure a three-month-long siege.
Ela shared that her grandfather had a significant role in her life. “I still carry a piece of his uniform everywhere I go.” Through his tales of war, he nurtured Ela’s defiant spirit and taught her that “higher damage is done by striking a supply chain than by neutralizing a man.” While these lessons made her a prolific Counter-IED Operator, Ela initially struggled to commit to the strict military lifestyle.

In Operation Blood Orchid, two Operators from the Special Duties Unit (S.D.U.) join Team Rainbow to raid the criminal organization squatting our new free map, Theme Park. Nicknamed the “Flying Tigers,” the S.D.U. has been listed among the most potent Special Forces in the world ever since its activation in 1974. The unit leads both police and military operations, over sea, air, and land.
To showcase our new Operator, Scriptwriter Farah Daoud-Brixi discussed what inspired Lesion’s character: “Originally modeled on the British Special Air Service, the S.D.U. has since developed their own training and methods. It is this edge that we wanted to capture with Lesion, who strikes unexpectedly and gains intensity with time.”
Liu Tze Long, codenamed Lesion, is the latest addition to Team Rainbow. His resilience to physical hardships is what set him apart from other candidates. “He was one of the three Operators who was able to withstand an extreme version of the S.A.S.’ Resistance to Interrogation Program,” said Daoud-Brixi.
Lesion is known to take his work seriously, and to expose himself to high-risk situations on a daily basis. This lack of consideration for his well-being has been judged as arrogant by some, and has often alienated him from his peers. But this natural drive to withstand difficult situations is also what pushed him to volunteer for mine disposal duty, which launched his career.
Lesion’s first operation was lead in Indonesia, Op. Green Viper. The laptop of a Malaysian physicist, who had recently joined an extremist group, was found in Macau. Its data revealed research on a biological weapon consisting of a bubonic plague bacteria obtained from animals. Liu teamed up with two S.A.S Operators, codenamed Smoke and Thatcher, to infiltrate the physicist’s laboratory and neutralize every trace of the substance. As this was Lesion’s first successful mission, the trio stayed an extra day in Macau and filed the event as an off-duty bonus.
Representing Hong Kong’s Special Forces, Lesion will be wielding the T-5 SMG and SIX12 SD as primary weapons, and the Q-929 as a secondary weapon.

To showcase our new Operators, Scriptwriter Farah Daoud-Brixi discusses what inspired Ying’s character. “The S.D.U. is known for leading high-risk operations amidst Hong Kong’s dense urban population. For this purpose we opted for a character with an awareness of their surroundings and a concern for civilian lives,” said Daoud-Brixi. “This is why we envisioned her as being heavily trained in close protection, which also influenced her playstyle.”
The Flying Tigers have close ties with the S.A.S., but have since developed a training regimen and methods that are very much their own. The return to Asia is no coincidence, Daoud-Brixi added. “We are using ties between CTUs to create interactions and build an interconnected team of specialists. Our Operator is part of this web, having met other members of Team Rainbow in the past.”
Siu Mei Lin, codenamed Ying (meaning firefly), is the latest addition to Team Rainbow. Ying had her first taste of field work at an exclusive female-only training facility in Tel Aviv, Israel. Recognized as an outstanding driver, she volunteered to take part in Operation High Sun. Siu delivered the VIP vehicle [REDACTED] successfully before returning to HQ. The Operators codenamed Ash and Fuze [REDACTED] with some tensions. Ash, however, quickly resolved the situation.
Soon after, she met and collaborated with former S.A.T. Operator Echo during a security operation named Black Jack. The two had to ensure the protection of Japan’s representative during the World Trade Organization’s Ministerial Conference held in Hong Kong. It was reported that she became personally involved with Echo at the time, but their relationship ended a year later.
To highlight the ballistic edge of Hong Kong’s Flying Tigers, Ying is equipped with the SIX12 and T-95 LSW as primary weapons, and the Q-929 as a secondary weapon.

Welcome to an abandoned theme park on the shores of Hong Kong for Rainbow Six Siege’s Y2 Season Three. During Operation Blood Orchid, you will explore a colorful new multiplayer map of a ghostly landmark. Rainbow Six’s Assistant Art Director Karine Letourneau and Production Manager Frédérique Roussel discussed the core elements that inspired this map. “The S.D.U. is famous for being able to operate in Hong Kong’s diverse and challenging urban environment. Their unit is ready to intervene on an array of different terrains, from densely populated shopping districts to steep mountains,” said Letourneau.
The designers aimed to capture this eclectic assembly in the new map. The site was appropriated by a criminal organization, who adapted its layout to answer their needs. But lush grass and vines can be seen gnawing on old rusty metals, as nature slowly reclaims the area. “This superimposition will in turn influence gameplay,” explained Roussel. “Since the spaces have been reconfigured by squatters and an overgrown nature, the architecture is often misleading. You will find wildly different patterns packed in the same corner, for example, rather than a smooth succession of colors and shapes.” The resulting clashes are intentional, and aim to inspire fresh tactics in unique spaces.
Hong Kong is fertile with construction sites, which is an aspect that Letourneau and Roussel mentioned as inspiration. “The real estate market is sometimes ahead of demand. For this map, we wanted to portray a site that was not successful, a theme park that was built very quickly, and was lost just as fast.”
The reason for Team Rainbow’s intervention is clear: the S.D.U. has identified this perimeter as being used as a criminal organization’s nest for narcotic manufacture. After establishing a connection with the Hong Kong Triad, two Flying Tigers are chosen to lead a lethal raid in Theme Park.
The daytime ambiance is a hot and humid afternoon in Hong Kong. Expect majestic mountains out in the far horizon wrapped in some low, heavy clouds. At night, the atmosphere is tense and intimate, as you see flickering lights reliant on old deficient generators. It’s still early in the evening, when darkness is slowly embracing the shores of Hong Kong.

As announced during the Six Invitational, game health is our priority. To achieve this goal we took the decision to fully dedicate the next three months to improving our game. This means pushing back our season set in Hong Kong and launching instead, Operation Health.
Operation Health is all about fixing several issues and investing in better technology to make sure we keep growing strong in the upcoming years.
Here are the three pillars that will serve as focus points for our Dev team during the next three months:
Year 2 Roadmap Impact
Operation Health will follow a much more iterative pace and new deployment philosophy in three steps ensuring we gradually inject new developments. For instance, the One Step Matchmaking will be released first on the Technical Test Server (TTS), then on PC and finally, when ready, on Xbox One and PS4.
With Operation Health pushing back our season set in Hong Kong, we needed to rethink our Year 2 Roadmap. Hong Kong will be released in August as part of Season Three and South Korea in November during Season Four. While Poland no longer has a dedicated season, our GROM Operators will be released at the start of Season Three and Four.
Finally, we have decided to reduce the number of new maps to three this year (including the released map set in Spain) to truly prioritize our game’s health. You can find below our updated Year 2 Roadmap:
Tune in to the Pro League Finals on May 21st for a panel discussion on Operation Health
During Operation Health, we will post frequent reports detailing what new tech we are implementing, the content of the next update, bug fixes that were pushed, and so on. We invite you to follow our progress and to participate in our upcoming control quality checks on the TTS.
For more information on Operation Health, make sure to tune in during the Pro League finals on May 21st for a full panel discussion.
